Went to eat in at the Spring Garden restaurant in Hudson Ny. Was quite surprised as to how much space was inside. Decorated nicely. Clean. Cloth napkins was a plus. Waiter came right away took drink order and presented menus. His young daughter delivered some fried wontons and duck sauce preorder. We ordered egg rolls dumplings chicken lomien and orange chicken. All generously presented and hot. They were delicious. The waiter was super attentive and friendly. We're definitely gonna make this restaurant one of our choices when Chinese food is what we're hankering for. read more

Was in Hudson around 3 and decided to order take out. Ordered the sesame chicken lunch special. Seemed like a decent place to order from.when I got back to eat was dissatisfied with the meal. The sesame chicken was tough to chew and over cooked. the pork fried rice that came with it was not very good either . Looked more like a dark brown and very few pieces of pork in it . The wonton soup was mediocre at best.. won't be back here anytime soon. read more

First time eating in the dining room since Covid/2020 when takeout became the only option. The food was phenomenal! Wonton soup with the most amazing broth. Crispy, fresh egg rolls. We actually ordered food to go because our regular go-to place was terrible last time we ordered from them. We ordered an egg foo young combination plate and chicken wings. The wings were so overcooked we could not chew them. The "combination plate" did not come with fried rice, rather a very small container of white rice. The sauce looked and tasted like salty used motor oil. The egg foo young was floating in water, which had to be drained from the container. Half of it was fed to my trash can, which I think got sick from it. All in all, this was far and away the worst Asian food I have ever had. read more

Got some take-out dishes last night from Spring Garden. We hadn't been there for several years and our memories were quite positive. Things have changed! The service is still friendly and the food quickly produced, but the quality has gone to hell. The Shrimp Rolls were terrible--a thick, soggy shell ruined the taste of the filling. Egg Foo Yung was presented with two small patties and the typical brown sauce was instead a black, tarry mess that we discarded immediately. A dish with shrimp and broccoli was overcooked and the broccoli was almost grey. Someone needs to teach the chef what "crisp-tender" means. Great service is no substitute for great food. read more

Marvelous and delicious with excellent service. I came here on my lunch break today. I was hoping for a Chinese Buffett but that's ok. What I got was much better. Spring Garden has been serving diners for over 40 years in Hudson. When you enter there is a bar that serves many East Asian cocktails. You will be greeted by a large fish tank filled with red ciclids. For my lunch I order the chicken Pad Thai. I liked this version of pad Thai better then others I had. The spice was medium which I liked and the noodles were actual rice noodles and not Italian linguini like I have had at other places. The waiter was attentive to my needs and even explained to me that their pad Thai is different because they use vegan ingredients in their sauce. Very pleased with my experience. read more

This place is your classic Chinese spot. Food isn't life changing but it's hot and fresh and what more can you ask for. Service was attentive and fast. We got wonton soups, general tso's chicken, string beans and rice and it solid. We'll come back. And they also give you crispy noodles with duck sauce to start. Gotta love that. read more

This place used to be a great Chinese food restaurant. However, I suggest you only get takeout from here because the odor in this restaurant is unbearable. It literally spelled like cat pee. I couldn't even enjoy eating my food because of how strong the smell was and I don't think I'll be eating any Chinese in the near future in fear of being reminded of that smell. As far as the food, it is probably your best bet for Chinese food in the area.... But it's nothing special. The sesame chicken combo is a safe choice, it's actually pretty good! The wonton soup was alright but the dumplings were full of grease. I had to stop eating them because the grease was way too much. Update: the restaurant has been cleaned since my last visit and the smell should be gone, I can not confirm this since I have not been in the area :) read more

The food is excellent - love the Young Chow fried rice and the seafood & shrimp dishes are always my favorite. The entire interior has been TOTALLY RENOVATED and looks absolutely fabulous! The staff is attentive and very friendly - always making sure you understand what the dishes are & that you have everything you need. I took my mom right after they renovated the day they reopened. I had chicken chow mein she had shrimp chow fun I'm sorry we did not like either one. The chow mein was watery and undercooked. The chow fun had carrots in it and did not taste right. The wonton soup was salty. I'm not sure if it's a new cook but we were disappointed as we have been go in there for years. I had been going here for lunch sometimes, since I work in Hudson. I won't be going anymore because they added a .50 charge to my bill for my $11.00 lunch bc I used a card. I can understand adding a charge for a $5.00 bill, but mine was over $11.00. The food isn't bad, but it's not really good either. I would call it fair. The last time I went there, there was a piece of metal in my food. When I told them and showed them, they suggested taking $1 off my meal. This place used to have the best sesame chicken in town..but not as of yesterday. They changed it to something else. The sweet dark brown sauce laden with sesame seeds has been replaced with a light bland sauce with little seeds. The chicken pieces are bigger, but without flavor. I am sad. read more

The food here competes with the best of NYC, We eat here at least once a month and vary our choices. Had the Sesame Special which included both Chicken and Shrimp. Excellent. The breading was thin and delicate, covering large chunks of chicken, perfectly cooked, and the shrimp was excellent as well. The eggrolls were tasty and crisp. Spareribs meaty with the fat trimmed away, Hot and Sour soup was lightly spiced and flavorful. Try the crispy shrimp with walnuts. That is as good as it gets. read more

The owner who I remember always picking my Shirley temple umprella the same color I liked who passed away, was the emblem of costomer service. I was so pleased to come back to see that even the very young employees are so concerened with making people happy. They gave me an order of seseme chicken for free because of a small mistake. The bartender was also so professional when I found a lost credit card in the parking lot and asked if he might know who's it was. He recognized her name right away and made sure I knew that he had the check for this woman and called her right in front of me. This level of care is what I would love to have everywhere. So if you ever have a doubt about spring garden... don't they're going to floor you every time. This is a real restraunt charging you takeout prices. You could never go wrong here.
