I love Bangladeshi, Pakistani and Indian food, so it was always tempting to stop by here seeing some things highlighted on the street sign out front. Alas my wife doesn't so I was stuck. So I finally came over here for lunch 1 day. A Pakistani restaurant that doesn't serve Pakistani food is literally an episode of Seinfeld. Jerry encourages the owner (funny enough played by an Israeli actor) to serve his native cuisine, only to see the restaurant go out of business. It seems like these guys have ale that as a cautionary tale. Other than a reference to an Indian breakfast, everything is either American, Mediterranean or Mexican. I wish they would feel comfortable highlighting their cuisine more, however I do understand the hesitancy in upstate NY. I got the chicken gyro on a pita, as they were out of some things; apparently the samosa chat is a weekend-only dinner special, and they were out of rice too. It's a husband/wife team, so be prepared to wait a bit if not calling ahead. Someone commented before I got my food that it was the best chicken gyro they'd ever had; I wouldn't go that far but it was good. The chicken was in chunks souvlaki-style, versus being a true gyro, but it was good quality and a decent portion to boot. They just included some cucumber, spices and a white sauce (think it was tahini) with it. I got it with fries instead of a salad, and the fries were stellar. All told it was a well sized lunch--not too big or small. I would normally rate this higher, but $16 for a chicken gyro is asking a lot, especially upstate. Got that price you're better offer sitting down at a restaurant. Would come back to try the actual Pakistani food, otherwise for lunch I'd prefer cheaper and/or sit down lunch options nearby. read more

My wife and I were in the area, so we decided to check out this new place. We loved the atmosphere a lot. The music was not too loud, so it's cozy enough to enjoy a little conversation. The waiter and the bar tender were friendly with great suggestions. Most bars would make the food extra salty to raise the drink sales, in this case, their food was just right. The menu is relatively conservative with safe choices. You can't go wrong with any choices in the menu, I guess they will add more specials as they go. We've been there twice so far, and we enjoyed it both times. This could be our new favorite spot in the area. read more

I decided to give this place a chance as many of the other cafes are closed on Tuesdays. I ordered a Chicken Gyro on pita ($16). While the salad & sauce were great, the chicken itself was truly horrible. It consisted of rock hard dried up chunks that looked like they were really old or had been frozen for a while and reheated. I have honestly never eaten meat that badly prepared in my life. I hope I do not get food poisoning because the meat is old. I advise the staff to change how they prepare their meat, and if they aren't able to offer freshly cooked meat, to say it's not available for the day. For the price of $16 I would expect a much higher quality meal. Sorry to say, I really was hoping to be pleasantly surprised. read more

We had a really enjoyable experience at Bina's Cafe yesterday. The lovely owner offered us a free Mango Lasi and it was one of the most delicious drinks I've had in a long time: smooth, tangy, silky with the mango flavor shining through. I'd skip dessert and have that any day. I order the lamb platter, and while the meat looked dry, it was actually moist and seasoned beautifully. The rice was delicious too, and the yogurt sauce pulled it all together. My husband had basically the same thing in a sandwich. read more

Really wanted to like this cafe. Staff were nice and environment was clean however the food was a bit all over. The fries and lamb gyro were overly salty (a bit headache inducing) and the Buffalo sauce in the Buffalo chicken wrap was too sour. Its too bad that Bina's only serves Pakistani and Indian dishes on Friday and Saturday nights, since they are the best Pakistani/Indian dishes in the Saugerties area. The samosas are great, as are the various chicken and vegetable dishes. The rice is wonderful also. Also, no bread is available and the portions are on the small side (that's why the 4 stars). All in all, however, we've enjoyed the various dishes order to take out while we were in the area. read more

Lovely to have more diverse food options in the Village of Saugerties. The falafel and lamb gyro pita's were very filling along with the sides of salad and fries (the side salad was fresh and not wilted, and the fries were crispy). Very very very bland egg sandwich for breakfast. The owners look...tired. They've half ass decorated their place, have little to no regard for the blaring sunshine that comes into the restaurant leaving people who sit by the windows burnt and hot. Outside is not an option. This is the gem ive been looking for! Ulster county has always had a struggle of finding a good curry place, most range from meh to bleh. This is a standout. The pakistani currys are fresh and flavorful without falling into the oh so common trap of being overly sweet or drenched in dairy. The heat level on the currys is awesome and they will accommodate spice fans who like a lil more oomph in their dishes. The service is outstanding always and the location is terrific. Their brunch kebabs and chicken tikka sandwiches are to die for. I hope we see alot of bina in the years to come. Overall great food, great service, priced a little on the higher end compared to other currys spots around but the 3-4 dollar difference is definitely reflected in the quality of the dishes. read more

I don't know how this place got so many 5 star reviews. They have to be fake Acct's or family and friends. Totally agree with all turnother 1 star reviews. Owners are very rude esp the man who has a mad-dog I'm-going-to-bite you look. The fact that it was empty during the annual car show tells you everything! Over-priced and mostly rice. Ordered lamb gyros and got maybe two strips cut into small pieces overcooked and dried out. Served in aluminum takeout containers with plastic utensils even though we were dining in. We asked for silverware and paper plates only to get some lame water shortage excuse with attitude. Guy slams phone down and starts bad mouthing us in another language. The restaurant owners are very rude and ridiculous we're paying customers and denied the uaccess to the restrooms. The case was not that they did not have a functioning restroom apparently they quoted me a law that says that if you have less than 20 tables the state does not require to have a restroom. We were told you should get this confirmed before you place an order. We had to walk away on such a very small issue. The only reason I'm posting this review is to make people aware that the owner is rude We never tried the food. read more

My favorite item is the Buffalo Chicken Wrap. My girlfriend and I went here recently and we were both more than satisfied with our meals. We ordered take-away samosas, chicken jalfrezi, and gyro with French fries. Two huge samosas were tasty, chicken jalfrezi was tender and flavorful (next time I may ask for more spicy), and the lamb gyro was excellent (but the fries were meh). I'll definitely try eating in next time. My husband picked up the food and he said the restaurant was clean and the chef/owners were nice. So glad to see them in Saugerties! read more
