I haven't been to Rhinebeck in years but enjoyed walking around in early April. Lots of restaurants with delicious smells wafting outdoors. Aba's was no exception. I saw someone enjoying a delicious smelling soup outside and went in. They offer variations around falafel (sandwiches and platters) two daily soups, baklava for dessert and non alcoholic beverages. They offer homemade sauces and fresh hot pepper if you'd like to add more spice to your life. The place was packed inside. It's tiny in there and there's also some outdoor seating. It's more a take out place unless you come early and snag a seat. My falafel platter was super fresh and delicious- from the freshly fried falafel, salad, cabbage, tahini and pillowy pita. The prices are great-$16.50 for my falafel platter. They only make falafel and a handful of other food but what they offer is top notch. I could go on and on about how fantastic the food was. Service was friendly and efficient.

Aba's falafel is a charming little storefront, and it's very cute inside. They do not have a lot of seating, so this might not be the right place for you if you are having a big group or want to sit down at a busy time. The service was prompt, but I didn't find it super friendly. It was busy and they seemed more interested in moving the line along than taking the time to help each individual. The food is good. Nice selection of sauces on the side to complement your meal. I would go back for the food, but I would not have a group lunch there.

If I could give this place 100 stars I would. Every single thing is delicious. The falafels must be magic because they are the lightest and moistest anywhere. The salads are SUPER fresh (even in winter) and dressing is light and flavorful but so so delicious. The hummus is the best anywhere. It's perfect actually. My hubby got the Sabeech which has slices of potato and eggplant in the mango dressing. He orders this dish EVERY TIME! The pita is the best. Warm and fluffy and full of joy. The eat-in part is small and chilly due to the door being opened for patrons. The service is "cafeteria" style. The servers plate out nice portions with a smile. Great job Aba

I was really excited to try this place after reading all the fantastic reviews, but I wasn't super excited about my recent experience here. I felt that the pita was a bit crunchy which did not seem super fresh to me. I'm used to a soft chewy pita bread. The falafel was okay, but didn't taste warm and freshly made. The service was friendly and timely, but it just seemed like everything was premade and had been sitting around. They have table seating, bar seats by the window and two tables outside.

After eating a modestly sized lunch elsewhere, we walked around and managed to get here right as they were closing, although they were polite enough to serve us. My husband got a falafel pita and I stupidly just got a few falafel. The falafel itself was probably the best I've ever had; they were incredibly flavorful, not dry at all, and with a bit of crunch. My husband's falafel pita was divine. The falafel combined with everything inside and the sauces made me fairly jealous that I did not get one myself. The food was delicious and we appreciated the service and this will be our go to spot for this kind of food.

This is my favorite dive in Rhinebeck - all vegetarian and all delicious! This time we came at the busiest hour - lunch rush on Easter weekend, and the line was super long out its door. But the atmosphere behind the counter (where they take your order and assemble the food) remained calm, orderly and efficient. Every customer was greeted with friendly smiles, thoughtful questions and speedy service. I ordered my usual falafel pita, plus the roasted pepper and artichoke soup, while my husband tried their sabeech pita. It's a miracle how much food they skillfully stuff into a pita pouch - I would have torn it or dropped the content - making one's meal a great value. The soup was amazing, and the sandwiches were heavenly! There aren't many such fast yet gourmet eateries in Rhinebeck, and this one is a must try!

Visiting family in the area and we decided to give Aba's a shot since the Yelp reviews were stellar. We had and combination plate - everything was great. The falafel was fresh, crispy and flavorful. We sampled all of the sauces and didn't taste one we didn't like! Outdoor seating has heaters and there's seating on the side too which we didn't realize until we were leaving. It was good, above average falafel. The packaging was all environmentally friendly for the most part.

I'd go here weekly if I lived nearby. Such an incredible Israeli spot! So healthy and good. The sabich pita sandwich is unreal!!! Even has potato in it and (insider tip) it's amazing for digestion if ya know what I mean. The hummus is also good, though a little heavy on the cumin, but that sabich sandwich is incredible. Extra good with the green sauce they give you. Coming back for more sandwiches and to try their baklava and homemade lemonade which also looked great. 5 stars!!!! read more

Aba's Falafel in Rhinebeck offers unexpectedly tasty and reasonably priced Mediterranean street food in a very casual cafeteria-style ambiance in its storefront location on East Market Street. Place your order at the counter, then have a seat at one of the handful of tables in the dining area adjacent to the open kitchen while your food is prepared to order. The menu is very simple with your choice of freshly made-to-order falafel, hummus, or roasted vegetables (as well as various iterations of those three options) served either as a sandwich in a pita or as a platter. On our recent visit for a late lunch, I opted for the falafel pita sandwich ($12), a generous portion of freshly made falafel served with tahini, and cucumber, tomato, cabbage, and onion with sumac, which was excellent! My dining companion went with the hummus pita sandwich ($11), a generous serving of freshly made hummus as well as cucumber, tomato, cabbage, and onion with sumac, which she really enjoyed a lot. Bonus points for the hot sauce (with freshly-made mild, medium, and hot selections) and pickle bar available to patrons no matter whether they grab one of the handful of small tables to enjoy their meal in-house or take their orders to enjoy elsewhere. Portions are generous and the freshness of the ingredients was obvious. Both of us really enjoyed our meals and we'll definitely be back next time we're in the area. PRO TIP #1: Aba's doesn't have a private parking lot, but there is plenty of on-street parking on East Market Street. If you can't find a spot on the street, the Rhinebeck Municipal Parking lot (@ 61 East Market Street) is just across the street from Aba's. read more

Usually a 4.8 crowd rating means it will be a winner. This time, not so much.... Service was super friendly and crisp - a plus. Ambience inside was a bit underwhelming but suppose it is more a takeout place so hard to ding it much for this. Food is where we were disappointed. The eggplant pita and plate were sparse on the eggplant and the plentiful potato on the plate was uninspiring - with respect to both taste and texture. Perhaps will be more your jam than ours, so take our review as an alternative perspective that may not align with yours. read more

This place has crispy, herbal, addictively good falafel. This comes in either a sandwich or platter with an excellent combo of marinated cabbage, pickled onion with sumac, cucumber, and tomato. The Pita is of medium thickness and fine. I really like adding a touch of the cilantro and spicy sauces. This place also has excellent cardamom lemonade. read more

Aba's is the best Mediterranean food in the Hudson Valley, it's incredible and always so fresh. I love getting the falafels in the pita and it's always absolutely delicious and just so *chefs kiss*. The service is always so friendly, I always feel at home whenever I eat at Aba's, the ambiance is so cool too. The food is delicious! I travel a lot and eat Middle Eastern food often. Aba's Falafel is one of the best. It's a small restaurant with a simple concept that works extremely well. And the food tastes great. They have a coleslaw that you should definitely ask for with your falafel. There is nice outdoor seating. And the people working there were great too. It's conveniently located near lots of other interesting stores in Rhinebeck. read more

This is a tiny spot with a few tables indoors and a couple outside also. The place was very busy but the four people behind the counter acted like a well oiled machine and the line kept moving. I order the falafel plate and my wife ordered three falafel balls and a side salad. One of the staff heard heard mention that she hoped there was not garlic and he came over and explained yes there was the. Recommended several items she could eat without worrying about garlic. Th falafel were crispy and oh so tender in the inside. The salads were tasty and my wife switched to the Lentil Soup which she said was unbelievably good. What I love about this place is the correct use of salt. So many places like this salt things way past enhancing the flavors and just make them salty. They did not do this to anything ordered. This place is a thirty to forty minute ride for us but I wail take the drive again. Definitely worth checking out. Oh, I forgot to mention it's also VEGAN!!!! read more

Had a reservation at Beekman Arms for lunch but stumbled across Aba's Falafel and never left. What a delicious, hearty meal! We both had the combination platter which was huge. Lovely staff and very clean space. Some indoor and outdoor tables. In the heart of Rhinebeck! The falafel was amazing- super crisp and flavorful. I just wish they were bigger! Lol. The salads that come with combination plate were refreshing and delish. Hummus was out of this world! Pita super fluffy and filling. I also loved the self serve pickle station and the cilantro hot sauce. Anything served in a pita proved pretty messy but well worth it. Excellent stop for lunch!! read more

Aba's Falafel is a must for anyone wanting to try Mediterranean fare. The staff is knowledgeable and happy to answer any questions you have. I always get pita with falafel, baklava and their homemade lemonade. Each time I have dined here, I have overheard customers ordering food for catering a party. They are only open for lunch and worth the trip. read more

If you are going to do one thing, do it right and Aba's delivers! Once you've had falafel in Israel, you're pretty much ruined and I've had falafel after falafel in the US that is more akin to a hockey puck. Aba's falafel is crisp on the outside and warm and fluffy on the inside. Always fresh. And vegan, even the baklava! It's been our go-to for New Year's Day now for a few years running, great to start the year with a delicious, flavorful meal! read more

Everything was good, I've had better falafel this one was too crispy. I had the combo plate and the pita sandwich. The best part was their lemonade soooo good especially if you mix it with a drink like whisky lol. My only issue is it's a really small space so take your food to go and they close early. Staff was pleasant and food is good. read more

The sandwiches here are amazing. We both got the Sabeech sandwich, which was vegan! It had roasted eggplant, roasted potatoes, falafel, Yuma's, cucumber and tomatoes and mango chutney sauce. The bread pocket was perfectly toasted and held everything very well. Everything was so flavorful!! For 11 dollars, these sandwiches are worth the cost and leave you nice and full. :) We also got a piece of baklava (not pictured). It was one single piece (0/10), smaller then a post it note (0/10) and it was 6 dollars (0/10). It tasted horrible and we threw it out after the first bite! Don't waste you money! As an Arab, that wasn't baklava at all. Not sure how they got it to taste raw and covered in dish soap, but they did!! read more

The only thing more impressive than their food is their process. I walked in expecting to be on line for 30 minutes. The place was PACKED! The tables were full - standing room only - and there was a line out the door. We were there for takeout so we didn't worry all that much because we were so stoked for good falafel. We got in and out of that place in 10 minutes. The food was piping hot and fresh as can be. The service was delightful. I wanted to walk right back in and get some more. If you can't feed it to the dog, people can't eat it either! So she threw it in the garbage. I think Market Street should re evaluate their menu choices. Also, Market Street could do better than inexpensive pasta for vegans and vegetarians, at this price point. Something with beans or soy meat, vegan Italian sausage, there is so much out there in 2025. We left the 1900's a long time ago. Even the CIA in neighboring Hyde Park is teaching vegan cooking. The star of the show for me was the Bianca "Skizza" - Skizzas are what they call their pizza-like experience....super thin dough, not quite NYC style in its taste and texture, but at least as thin with a unique overall texture and flavor to it. The kind of taste that sticks with you and makes you wonder "when can I have that again." I tend to get margherita or a basic tomato cheese situation to suss out any place offering pizza of any kind, but strayed from my comfort level and went for the Bianca which was truly a delicious experience. Gigi Rosemary Fig Jam, Pear, Arugula, Goat Cheese, Mozzarella, Truffle Oil created a super delicious and crave worthy experience. I finished the whole pie by myself with no issues. (Okay, maybe my wife had a slice, it's hard to remember...I just remember every bite being delicious.) There are other vegetarian options including pastas and a lentil soup. Plus a delicious looking "Barbina" salad, and the menu is helpfully labeled with which items are vegetarian. There was something for everyone at Gigi's and everyone in our 16 member+ party was happy to have eaten there.
