81 Diner - Cheesesteak and fresh cut fries

Now, years later, my wife and I would pass by the new 81 diner and would always say we needed to try it. We'll, today was the day. We stopped in for lunch, and aside from a gentleman waiting for his to-go order, we were known as the customers. I guess not a lot of people eat at 3 in the afternoon. The atmosphere was very nice. The tables, chairs and booths all fit the diner nicely. My cheesesteak sub was very tasty. Their menu said no substitutions, but they let me withhold the lettuce, tomatoes and onions, which I'm not fond of, so I'm glad they let me do that. Along that note, my wife ordered the BLT sandwich, and gave me some of the bacon, which was really good! Our friend George ordered the pizza burger, which also looked good, and he seemed to enjoy it. Their fresh cut fries were fantastic as well. If I had anything to complain about, it would be that the music being piped in was too modern for a classic diner atmosphere and wasn't something we were expecting. Hopefully that's something they will eventually change. Maybe next time we will stay long enough to try some of their desserts, which looked pretty good too. We will definitely be back soon.

We wanted to try a new place for breakfast and we selected the 81 Diner. It's been remodeled and…read moreunder new ownership. I felt justified to leave 4-Stars but I'm leaving 5-Stars and the reason is that some slight changes could eventually be made. New Owners are working hard to establish and build up business. First, the inside is very nicely decorated and extremely clean Parking is perfect with plenty of spaces The dining staff were working fast and efficient, younger folks with very friendly and positive attitudes. Overall the Staff was Outstanding ! We only seen the Breakfast Menu, it was well planned and very easy to look over and make your selections. I was a little taken back at the cost of the Steak & Eggs, the Country Fried Steak and Ham Steak, both with Eggs as well, compared to other diners, it seems a little costly. The food arrived freshly cooked and hot, which is nice and we ordered the sliced fried potatoes, these need to be improved, no flavor, adding just a pinch of seasoning would take this many steps up. I had the Pancakes, Eggs and Sausage which were standard breakfast food. Deb had the French Toast, Eggs and Bacon, same standard breakfast food. This indeed is a nice little diner, I would bet they will continue improving as each day goes by. We will give them a try for lunch one day

We arrived and waited just a couple minutes to place our orders and pay for our meal. The hostess seated us immediately and our server got our drink orders and brought our drinks and appetizers. The apples and apple butter were great and those sugar rolls were amazing. I ate 5 of those sugar rolls and they were so delicious we had to order more. I had a special with a 6 oz broiled crab cake and two pieces of fried chicken. The crab cake was jumbo lump and the fried chicken was on point and the way I remembered it. With it they gave us green beans, corn and French fries which were all delicious. My friend got the fried chicken but she got white meat chicken which they provided two full huge breasts and a wing. I opted for dark meat with my crab cake and got a leg and a thigh. It was absolutely delicious and our server, April, was fantastic and took care of all of our needs. My friend who goes there frequently says that she's had April before and she is just super efficient and takes care of all of the needs as she did last night. I opted to get moose tracks for my ice cream last night and it was outstanding although I'm not sure how I was able to eat the ice cream after everything else I ate last night. This is a great restaurant and I look forward to going back sooner than 20 years so that I can experience such a great meal again. I highly recommend you give this restaurant a try it's an experience you don't want to miss.

This is a nice place for a once in a while dinner. There is a long list of unlimited sides such as…read morepeach slices, bread (plain that comes with butter packets and sugared), salad, green beans, etc.. But to get those unlimited sides, you need to order a main course. Interestingly enough, you start by telling them how big your party is and order right away. Then, they will overhead to seat you. Fried oysters 10/10: I'm more of a raw oyster gal but wow, these fried oysters were consistent in size. I found them to be super tasty. My family member got the fried shrimp and I do think that tops what I got. Very country, home, cozy vibes here.
