I do not understand the hype of this place. My family and I came in on a Sunday and it was packed. Line out the door packed so we were excited for a good homestyle meal. If you haven't been here before, the process can be confusing. You have to order your entrees prior to being seated and are then given a receipt/order form to give to your server once you get to your table. We ordered the chicken tenders, crab cakes, and fried chicken. Chicken was nice and crispy but all meals were very bland. The sides were also just meh except for the sugar rolls, those were a hit. The family style concept is cool though.

Such a throwback to family style meals. Great scenery beautiful drive. The Crab cakes are the best I've had in Maryland it's worth getting 2. The fried chicken is a must. The specials they have are worth checking out. Service is fast it's not really slow pace. Food comes out rather fast.

Absolutely wonderful service, food, beautiful view... You choose your main course...only vegetarian though is eggplant...seriously do not recommend that-- but all of the side dishes, bread, dessert-- ice cream is wonderful!! Drinks continuously refilled!!! You will not leave hungry!!!! We will continuously visit this restaurant!!!!

Good food but way over-priced. Hard to justify a $400 bill for a family of 6 eating country style.

Staff and regulars seem to know each other well, giving it a true mom-and-pop feel. We were warmly greeted and seated quickly. Drinks came out right away, and the service was attentive throughout our meal. I had the steak and eggs with house potatoes and toast. While I'm not sure it was actually ribeye as listed, it was tasty and well-priced. The brunch burger was also a hit, no complaints there! They offer a tempting variety of baked goods, including coconut cake, red velvet, and rice crispy treats, plus a fridge full of pies. You can also grab a T-shirt for $20 to celebrate their 40th anniversary. I'm planning to come back for lunch soon to try their award-winning chicken. Bonus: there's plenty of parking in the back.

My only complaint was the grilled onions on the Swiss burger were not tender--I think they were from the outermost skin of the onion. I literally could not bite through them but had to gobble them like spaghetti you can't break! Hubs ordered the Burger of the Week which had Doritos and was so large it came with a steak knife in it! Upon walking through the doors of Barrett's Grill you can admire the beautiful dining room space that was perfectly decorated for the holiday season. Our waitress was pleasant and attentive giving us time to mull over the menu a while. I ordered the Salmon BLT wrap with fries and was blown away by the flavor. The salmon was perfectly seasoned and blackened, and the peppered bacon was a great compliment. I typically ask for any type of sauces on the side, however, I forgot this time and was still happy with the honey mustard style sauce in the wrap. My dining companion ordered the fish of the day tacos, which was trout and she said they were really tasty. I will gladly say the Salmon BLT wrap at Barrett's is now one of my favorite bites and I actually would like to go back for another dining experience and to try some other menu items.

We were delayed finishing chores at Taking The Lead, their non-profit horse therapy ranch. We arrived at 7:30 and were graciously seated even though they close at 8:00 PM. We were brought waters and tea and ordered, since we had already decided our choices. We started with Crab Dip and Fried Green Tomatoes. Brother-in-law, his wife and my wife all ordered the Slab of Ribs and fries special. One niece and I chose the Ostrich Filet, hers with Sweet Potato fries, mine with Roasted Sour Cream & Chives Potatoes and Butter Braised Green Beans. Farm helper Debbie chose the Firecracker Shrimp. And other niece got, wait for it, cake and ice cream!! Appetizers came quickly. Crab dip was delicious. Fried Green Tomatoes were excellent after I cleared up the sweet relish atop it. I'm a Fried Green Tomatoes purist. After a short wait our meals came. Two people thought the Ribs were good and one that didn't like them. I tried a piece of ribs from my wife. Very soft, fall off the bone but dry and lacking flavor. Debbie loved her Shrimp, which were barely spicy. The Ostrich Filet was very good, more like steak than chicken. But my sides were bleh. Green beans were stiff and tough. Potatoes had very little flavor of sour cream or chives, rather bland. I did enjoy some of my wife's fries. And the niece with the cake and ice cream said it was grrreat! Good food, wonderful ambiance and excellent service by Maura. Worth a visit, especially if you are curious about Ostrich filet!
