Highly recommended on here, and well worth the drive into heart of Amish country in Lancaster, PA Simple dining room, plenty of seating, clean bathrooms, off to the side banquet area, or for larger groups. The staff were all hardworking, friendly Amish women, where the flare of menu featured traditional Amish. Never eating traditional Amish, my selection were the traditional ham balls, potato salad and regular salad and a piece of shoefly pie to take home. Sadie, all of our server was lighting, efficient , on point and very sweet. Service was quick, a must stop in Amish country read more

I'd give this place a 10 if I could! Such a cute place inside. The service was beyond perfect. Our waitress was very kind and answered all of our questions. We were traveling through on a trip, and didn't know where to stop for dinner. This place got great reviews and I see why! We are from NC, so we had lots of questions about the food. I tried the ham balls and had pasta salad and broccoli salad, and my husband had chicken croquettes with mashed potatoes. They don't skimp on portions, we had so much food left over! For dessert we had Shoo Fly Pie, the waitress was funny as she described it as "boring". It was delicious, but she was right, the flavor was "boring". Overall, you could tell that the food was mostly made from scratch. I would definitely go back if ever in town and would highly recommend this true Amish/Dutch restaurant. Best service and food you'll ever receive! read more

I can't say enough good things about this place. Okay first of all the people running this establishment could teach most servers a thing or two about high quality customer service and we are from Long Island where you have many competitive restaurants with good service! At first we weren't sure what to expect from reading the menu but let me assure you, everything is made with LOVE. Iykyk. We ended up ditching our reservations at some bougie restaurant to come back here a second time during our stay. The ambiance is cozy, clean, & minimalist. The Amish people are in a lane of their own when it comes to quality. They just nail everything across the board. Might I add that our waitress Amanda was the dearest of souls and her Bible verse attached to the receipt imprinted a memory for me and my husband for all of time. read more

Off the beaten path and away from the typical tourist locations ... you can find this little gem of a place. Filled with mainly locals - it's across the street from the fire station. Our server was super friendly and very attentive... food came out hot and quickly. The food was overall good and everyone in our party enjoyed their meal. One person requested butter instead of gravy on their mashed potatoes and the result way way too much butter. Chicken pot pie was salty ... however overall the food was good and we will be back. read more

Don't miss this restaurant in your visit to Lancaster's Amish country, even though it is in Quarryville. It's worth going there. Service is great - friendly Amish and Mennonite women. The food is delicious! There's a dinner special most evenings. I've had the chicken pot pie, the Amish wedding dinner, and my favorite - the chicken croquettes! Their apple pie is great, the side chicken salad and macaroni salad are great. They have good strawberry jam. There's plenty of seating, there's a second room with beautiful murals. You'll see locals eating there, many times owners of local Amish businesses and community members, even people who came from far. Highly recommend you visit! read more

Friendly service and a Chicken Pot Pie "Soup" that is closer to a hearty stew Really delicious, where some cracked peppercorns would have set it apart! My wife noticed the fresh cut fries on the menu, when she ordered fries instead of chips. I didn't, and left it at chips. We wound up "sharing" her fries. Off the beaten path slightly. Clients seem to be mostly locals read more

This place was awesome! You'll never find a friendlier wait staff! Food was delicious!!! Clean, well maintained dining room.

Very good Amish food, great proportions. The service was great. Large dinning area. Will definitely eat there again. read more

Great home cooking and excellent service A taste of Amish land Recommend on your next Lancaster county trip read more

There is a small parking lot in front of the restaurant. It has a simple interior, the scenic room has a lovely mural. The service was friendly. The food was great. My Rueben was one of the best I have had. The thousand island dressing was perfect and the pastrami was cooked well. The bread is made onsite. The hand cut fries were yummy and I loved the potato salad. My husband also enjoyed his Rueben and coleslaw. We left happy and wanting to come back and try the dinner which has some traditional Amish options. read more

I went to this place for the first time with my parents who have been here before. I got the chicken pot pie which I thought was really good. My parents liked the food here before but this time it was just okay. All the sides are pretty big portions. The service was a little slow but they were busy. There's two different sides, one is nice and modern and the other is more for kids. You can choose to sit wherever you want. read more

Good menu and home style cooking. In heart of Amish country Not far from Bird in Hand and Lancaster.

It takes a little getting to this place but it is worth it. The Crab Bisque special and open face roast beef was excellent. The service was top notch, took our order quickly and got food out without any delays. It as an open kitchen area that you can observe them preparing your food and the prices were reasonable for the large quantity of food they provide. I would definitely come back here if I'm anywhere nearby. read more

It is a great place to eat, as soon as enter you feel welcome. It was four sisters visiting Lancaster and was told the food was great. They weren't kidding! Anna was our waitress she was so patient with us We had the Oatmeal bake with Strawberries & blueberries with a small cup of brown sugar, and fresh milk on the side. It was delicious !!! Recommend it highly! read more

Before our tour of Amish Country, we stopped by Hometown Kitchen to pick up some sausage & egg breakfast sandwiches, hot chocolate, and their homemade raisin bread to go. The service was quick and friendly. I saw many locals dining here which seems like the go to spot for them for breakfast. The sandwich was huge, I ate half for breakfast and saved the other half for lunch. The sausage is not the flat brown patties we are used to but rather more like a hunk of thick meatloaf. It wasn't bad but seemed a bit on the plainer side. Everything seemed home made and was highly recommended by travel blogs. Not a bad spot to drop in for breakfast as they also serve omelettes, pancakes, waffles, etc. Enjoy Amish country! read more

Wonderfully delicious evening meal. I had the meatloaf with mashed potatoes. So delicious and a very generous serving. Had a whoopie pie to go for dessert. Out of this world good! My waitress was lovely and perfectly attentive. Not too much. Not too little. Will be back again. read more

The food here is delicious and the pricing was very good! We had the Saturday special of rack of ribs and the meat just fell off the bone! Tons of sauce. We also had the chicken pot pie which was so flavorful! The delicious rolls were served with the most amazing strawberry jam. Also our waitress Ana was so sweet. Perfect dinner experience! read more

Lovely place to eat. Authentic Amish food. Service with a friendly hello and smile. A little disappointed because we went there so I could get the Amish Wedding meal and found out it was a Friday special. We were there on Saturday. Had the meatloaf instead and it was amazing. Went back for breakfast and had the Haystack. Wow! Tasty and large portion. My little man is two and very picky eater, like me. He devoured his food on both visits. That is enough to have me as a customer over and over again. read more

While off the beaten path, this is one of my favorite breakfast spots. Very friendly place! The young gal who waited on us was lovely, everyone was very welcoming! We asked her recommendations, she said the meat loaf & the roast beef are very popular - 3 of us ordered the meatloaf - it was delicious! Highly recommend it! We would definitely return! Also the prices were very reasonable & portions were a good size. Very welcoming atmosphere & country decorated. read more

I was in Lancaster for business and decided to head out to Amish country after work. I did a quick Google search for the best Pennsylvania Dutch restaurants around. This spot came up as one of the top options. I am so glad I decided to stop by. The food was tasty and fresh and the service was quick and pleasant. If I ever find myself in Amish country again, I'll be back. read more

We've been to famous buffets nearby, but if you want large portions of beter food, Hometown Kitchen stands out. The ham balls andbl pot pie were both wonderful. Having eaten extensively throughout the state, I can also saybthat theirs are the best Whoopi Pies! be loved this place so much that we came back for dinner the next night. read more

We've eaten here 3 times in the last month. Their food is delicious but very heavy. This is a traditional Amish food restaurant. It is unpretentious, authentic, open floor plan and comfortable. Don't expect much from the wait staff. We have our favorites but most of the staff seem preoccupied at best. Food comes pretty fast, even when they are packed to the gills. They are very efficient. Must try: Strawberry jam they keep on the table. Their own homemade bread and rolls. The Best chicken croquettes I've ever tasted (very rich). One of the best chicken pot pies around. Yum Mash with Gravy. AMPLE PORTIONS - the way it should be. The best cole slaw around. They make just about everything good. Keep in mind for when you need a hearty, simple, old-fashioned meal. read more

Every single item here is delicious! Try the bean soup if it's available! And the spare ribs on Saturday are to die for! Service is prompt and friendly and welcoming. Their homemade iced tea is perfect, too. This spot is a local favorite from early morning on. We'll worth the trip! read more

One day the wife said "hey, why don't we go to the Poconos for labor day weekend". And I thought sure why not! I love it up there (despite once being called a terrorist at a bar by some yokle, but that's a story for another review one day). After 2.5 hrs of driving with screaming car sick kids in the back seat, we turned off the highway and soon enough, we passed the first horse and buggy on the road... and then a second... and a third. Turns out when my wife said the Poconos, she meant Amish country. And, as it goes with our dependencies with modern day technology, you'll never really know where you're going until you get there. And for us, "there", was Atglen, PA. Where Hometown Kitchen in nearby Quarryville, was the only game in town. And thank whatever gods the Amish pray to, it was a good one! With diner style fare, this is as good as it could get I would imagine. The bread was so good! Waffles, biscuits, home fries, even the chicken nuggets... it all tasted... different!! I guess this is how food without hormones or chemical additives is supposed to taste? And if this was just the food at the local diner, it's no wonder the Amish never leave their community. Why would you if the food every where else is just inferior?? read more

My wife passed last year. I was the cook of the household, but there's no point in creating hearty meals at home anymore. However, I try to treat myself to a good hot meal now and then. You can't beat the Hometown Kitchen for true fresh from scratch meals. I just had the best meatloaf dinner there and I had leftovers for the next day. The best meatloaf I have ever had and I make a mean meatloaf myself. Two big thick slices covered with smooth brown gravy. The mashed potatoes were smooth and creamy without a lump. Delicious. The coleslaw tasted much like my own. Unfortunately I did not save room for dessert. My Amish server was sweet and attentive. This is not Amish tourist food that rules Lancaster's hot spots. This is the real deal. read more

Went there for breakfast, The food was good and prepared well. The service was also great. Our server was friendly and efficient. Next time I am in the area I definitely would love to try their dinners, from what I have heard and read they are good as well. Great food, pleasant "Amish" staff. We came late in the evening and so they were out of the two things I wanted, but I persevered and ordered the chicken pot pie, which is not the way the rest of America does it, but it was good. It's basically a thick chicken noodle soup poured out into a plate. I had a side of cole slaw ;which was good and sweet) and mashed potatoes because the vegetable of the day was canned green beans. The "chicken gravy" poured over the potatoes was the best tasting thing I ate. There is a strawberry jam they have on the table for the rolls, which is excellent. Pleasant and helpful waitress. read more

Solid breakfast fare-omelets, French toast, pancakes, all prepared well. Hearty breads with jam on the table. Baked oatmeal was a standout. Coffee was a little weak, though. Service was extremely gracious and attentive. We arrived close to 10 AM on a Saturday and were seated immediately. Food was prepared quickly. All in all a pleasant experience. read more

Went with my wife because it had a high rating. Very disappointed. We sent the french fries back because they were underdone, and instead of giving us new fries, they simply through them back in the oil fryer. They were returned to us cooked, but greasy. My wife got the chicken fingers which tasted like the frozen ones you get at BJs, and my barbecued meatballs were unremarkable and drenched in barbecue sauce. The noodles were unremarkable and the cole slaw was below average. The "home-made" peach pie tasted like the peach filling was poured from a can. Totally disappointed. Go somewhere else, there are plenty of better restaurants! read more

This place is solid Amish. So if you go, be prepared that you might be the only non-Amish in there. This is sort of the endearing part of this place. We walked in all loud, from the Stratsburg train, in full pajamas (came from the Santa train) and it was like the needle stopped on the record and everyone looked at us. We calmed ourselves down and stayed. The food is comfort food and all seemed pretty good. The kids sliders were probably a little dry and my son's hamburger was only okay. But, the rest of our meals were very enjoyable and service was great. It is a great choice for the experience of eating in a true Amish spot. On the way out I tried a Pumpkin Whoopie Pie and it was pretty amazing! read more

Food was excellent and service very nice and accommodating . Highly recommend this restaurant

Excellent food and spectacular service! Well seasoned chicken and the most delicious hand cut fries! Generous portions but try to save room for dessert because wow they're amazing!
