Do you enjoy fresh squeezed beets, carrots, and wheat grass? How about cheese steaks without the steak? If you said yes, this place is definitely a must try. If you said no, than shame on you, and this place is a DEFINITE must try. I came here to Liquid Earth with my wife and in laws for lunch and was blown away by how much i enjoyed the food, juice, ambiance, and music. I had the Phat Bheet and the meatless muffaletta. I have been coming to Liquid Earth now for a couple years now and I still have yet to eat here. I go for one thing and one thing only, the smoothies and juices. They are quite delicious. I have had most of their frozen drinks my favorite is either Banana E or the Rawmond Joy. I have had a lot of their juices as well and I love the AntioxDetox. (Note: These drinks definitely help the morning after a bar crawl.) I have also dabbled in their Shots as well...no not alcohol shots; shots as in Goji Berry or Pomegranate. I really dig the Pomegranate. The drinks here are fantastic and you can watch them juice everything fresh right behind the bar. I would love to come here more often but it's hard to justify a $9 smoothie. I understand that they are organic and blah blah blah which is the reason the prices are jacked up, but studies have shown that there are no differences between organic and non-organic vegetables and fruits...nutritionally speaking. So if this place would open just a juice stand and hammer out cheaper smoothies using non-organic vegies and fruits to keep the cost down, I would literally be there every day, drowning in polyphenols and antioxidants! I just peeked my head in last week to get a drink because I was fighting a horrible cold and needed something to make me feel better, well I found it. They had a concotion that consisted of apples, beets, bee pollen and zinc and it was phenomenal. Let me just say that I am not a vegan, but when I want to get a refreshing beverage of fruits and veggies I will be coming to Liquid Earth. I would like to preface this review with the following: 1- I am a hard core carnivore 2- I went here on a HORRIBLE afternoon date which may also add to the scarring experience 3- I am afraid of tofu... I have never (cue proud Yelper music) been afraid of eating something, but something about tofu just makes me really uncomfortable... THAT being clarified, I was struggling to find something to eat.. I consider myself a healthy person, but this was kind of hard core for me. I am not familiar with vegan eating and I thought it would be similar to just vegetarian, but it's not... I had a Cesar salad... :( It was about a half a head of lettuce with a nice lemon dressing, but it wasn't what I expected at all.. Again - this is not my style of diet so for someone who is a vegan or more familiar with it, it could be great.. For ME - I was starving when I got home and made a sandwich... Nothing against the place, they make fresh smoothies which I think is pretty cool, and the guacamole that the person I was dining at this location with ordered chips with guacamole, which I will say - if I wasn't allergic as all hell to guacamole- I would have devoured it because it looked DELICIOUS!!! The guy that waited on us was really friendly, and the location it self is really nice. Liquid Earth is by far the freshest place to eat in Baltimore. Since there are many reviews that state the same thing I will just say: This review is written by a non-vegitarian who appriciates healthy, fresh and local food. Time: Yes, the service can sometimes be slow, BUT if you have ever prepared local/organic/raw fare then you know it takes time and a lot of tedious preparation (props to the chefs and owners who do this every day) - it's not like they're asking you to wait for everything to sprout. Also, if you really think about it, you would wait 20 minutes for a kitchen to cook you something too. I really think time is perceived differently when you watch someone make your meal from scratch. I enjoy this and don't find the time restrictive. If you're in a hurry call your order in ahead of time and pick it up. And remember, good food is totally worth the wait and quite the opposite of fast food. Prices: Again, Liquid Earth is not fast food. You can get most of their sandwiches for $8-$12. Last I checked this is what a burger, salad or something fried (probably loaded with msg and corn syrup) will cost you at most Fells Point establishments. I don't really get where pricy is coming in here. I think there is a set misconception that healthy food is more expensive. Thank you Liquid Earth for keeping it fresh and holding your high level of standards. Fantastic vegetarian food. Great freshly made juice blends. The Philly Cheese Phake and the Veggie Reuben are both simply amazing. I have also never had a bad cup of soup here. I tried this place because I am a vegan and I read a lot of good reviews. It is basically a bland sandwich shop for vegetarians. There really weren't that many vegan options and I think there was only one raw item excluding salads. I got the vegan reuben with a side salad. It was very bland and the vegan cheese tasted like plastic. My friend had the bean burrito and a side of pasta salad. The burrito had five black beans in it and was mostly rice. It and the pasta salad had no taste. I would have given this place 1 star for the food, but just to be more annoying the service was terrible as well. With three servers and one table in the restaurant, I had to flag down someone to order and get our check. The servers were all too cool for school. Yay - I love putting people out. I went with two friends in the morning to get a nice smoothie before going out to breakfast. First of all, I was a bit apprehensive about paying almost $7 for a mediocre-sized smoothie. It wasn't the best I have had. The reason I gave this place two stars is because the guy working the counter was a bit rude. I understand it was early in the morning, but in this economy, establishments cannot afford to marginalize their customers. I asked if they accepted credit cards, to which he responded "Yes." Was out enjoying the weather in Fell's Point and dediced to check out this spot based on their juices and smoothie list and I'm so glad I did! It's located off of Aliceanna St in Fell's Point near the Subway. When you walk in, you're greeted by a very friendly and welcoming staff. The decor is very warm and rustic. They have numerous vegeatrian options as well as vegan options. Took me a moment to look over the menu becuase of the options...which all sounded amazing by the way! I opted for the Facelifter which included Honeydew melon, mint, ginger, orange, and grapefruit. The fresh flavor and combination of flavors in the juice were out of bounds delicious! Really enjoyed how they make it fresh at their juice bar...I thought that was pretty cool. Will definelty be returning to try the other juices. My girlfriend and I went to Liquid Earth for the same reason a lot of its patrons probably do; because we didn't feel like waiting for a tabe at Blue Moon. When we first entered, I was hit with a pungent, earthy smell that seemed to permeate the whole restaurant. I don't know exactly how to describe it, but it unpleasantly lingered the whole time we were there and I never got used to it. The waitstaff were pleasant and attentive, but we were also the only people in there. I ordered a wrap, I forget exactly which one, and it was ok. The ingredients seemed fresh, but it tasted bland and dry. Then again, it could have been that smell killed my appetite. The other complaint is how hippy-dippy the place is, I'm sure it appeals to their core clientele, but for those vegetarians with carnivorous friends and family who are looking to show them that being vegetarian doesn't mean just eating salads will want to look elsewhere for dinner. One World does a better job of creating a family and omnivore friendly atmosphere, whereas Liquid Earth feels like a parody of what everyone else imagines a vegetarian restuarant is like. Do you love fake meat? I don't. But I still love liquid earth. Take your vegan friends, open up your mind, and enjoy some new soy products. They dress them up right and make them tasty. They are also a juice bar, but I've never had the guts to try the juice. The atmosphere in this place--the river rock, the cross-cut wood, the mismatched pottery--plus the fact that they are totally meat-free and care about the provenance of their food would make this restaurant a trendy hit in NYC right now. A little disappointed. Dishes are vegan and vegetarian classics (nothing pushing the envelope about a pile of sprouts, cucumbers, tomatoes, avocado, and hummus on a slice of bread) you could assemble at home VERY easily. Reminds me of the college campus cafe, which is fine but it's not going to wow your taste buds. The ingredients are all fresh and are combined nicely into different sandwiches, but you really could read the list of ingredients on the menu, go to the store, purchase the ingredients, and whip up these simple meals by yourself. If that's what your craving without the chopping, you'll probably be satisfied here. (I get that they're more of a deli serving cold plates--not a full restaurant with a million different options--but I did better with a mini-fridge, one knife, and no sink in college!) Another element that disappointed was a pretty serious disregard for seasonality. The tomatoes on our sandwiches were exactly what you'd expect from a mid-January tomato--non-local, mealy, bland, unexciting. Winter is a hard time for vegetarians but local farms are still churning out squashes, root vegetables, kale, and other hardy produce that offers a challenge and an opportunity to area restaurants to get creative. At Liquid Earth, I struggled with the idea that this place is supposed to be environmentally conscious and healthful yet didn't make a big pitch for local, seasonal food. (Down the street, Red Star's winter/fall menu features a nicely put-together salad with seasonal accents and an exciting dressing and they aren't even projecting an environmentally hip image! Catch up with the competition!) The "sacred salad" included the contents of my produce drawer (apples, radishes, greens, carrots, sprouts, cucumbers, etc) with a drizzle of basic olive oil and vinegar on top--you can make this and probably do something more creative with it, like maybe even toss the salad around a bit so the dressing distributes. (Came with a promisingly dark brown chunk of bread that somehow managed to be totally bland.) I was hoping for some kind of fancy salad dressing ('cmon tangerine-sage-garlic-zest-vegan-festival dressing or something?) to zing things up for long-time vegetarians who want to depart a bit from the basics, but nope, just your standard oil 'n vinegar. Meh. The portobello mushroom sandwich was fine. No one ingredient stood out to define the dish or pull things together. "Lentil tapenade" is a sad idea. Yep, I probably got some hardy protein in my meal but tapenade is typically made with delicious kalamata olives for a reason--and that reason is FLAVOR. The sandwich needed sundried tomatoes or garlic or something acidic to wake the whole thing up. My boyfriend got the veg burger and wasn't overly impressed. They were out of ciabatta rolls so it was on a fairly weak piece of sandwich bread. (Isn't there a local bakery that makes better bread than the stuff they're serving here?) He's a french fry craving kind of guy but none of the sides really tempted him or brought the meal together. His $3 side of pasta salad was good but very small. I ordered the soy chai thinking it would be a spicy, warm drink for a cold day. Even though it was obviously made from good quality tea leaves, it was a lukewarm, bland, and disappointing drink. My boyfriend got a juice drink involving lemon and chamomile and it tasted like a mild, non-frozen pina colada, which was pretty pleasant. Past reviewers have complained about the service but we didn't really have any problems. We saw both a waitress and a waiter and they were both nice, helpful, and pretty speedy. (Granted, the place was dead while we were there.) I've been a vegetarian for a long time and I've had way better than Liquid Earth currently offers. I'm a vegetarian by philosophy, not because I don't like meat and actually my absolute favorite sandwich of all time was the Reuben. So, now that I don't get that corned beef anymore, I find it a fantastic day, when someone goes out of the way to make a great veggie Reuben. That's why it is getting 4 stars because between DC and B-More, the only veggie place that's holding a candle to this is Harmony Cafe in DC. Here are the reasons it may not be a 4. It is pretty expensive....but listen, they know you're a vegetarian in Baltimore, so you're pretty much out of luck. They won't even give you chips with your sandwich you have to pay 7$ for chips and salsa. But, that being said the sandwich wasn't that expensive and it was damn good. This was my introduction to the vegetarian world in the late 1990s, when this restaurant was somewhat of an anomaly in the Fells Point area. I'm glad to see it has lasted and become a fixture for healthy eating in Baltimore. Liquid Earth is a family operation, with an intermittent rotating staff of friends. Regulars get to know the owners pretty quick, especially those sitting at the cobblestone bar. There are a wide variety of fresh juice options. The meals are vegetarian comfort food with high quality ingredients. Sandwiches are often served with a well-presented side salad. Service is always slow, but there's always a paper lying around to read. If you forget that Liquid Earth is cash only, there's an ATM down the street. My only criticism is an inconsistency preparation and staff snark I've encountered on recent trips. Also, if you are not prepared to pay a little extra for fresh, non-processed, non-genetically modified food, then do not come here. You will be sore about the "high" prices. Look, the prices are more than what one would pay in a traditional restaurant, but the quality is on a different level. You pay for quality. In this day and age, one can pay less for a quarter pounder with cheese from McD than for a head of romaine lettuce in the grocery store.. HUH?!? Anyways, that's a whole nother issue... So, if you come with an open mind and an open palate down to Liquid Earth, and you will not be disappointed. The Picnic Sandwich - brie, nuts (walnuts? don't remember), onion, homeade delicious REAL honey mustard, all on top of a toasted whole grain baguette is amazing. There was also a special running one of the days I came in - a raw burger. It was made with a bunch of sprouts/veggies/etc - uncooked and served in a wrapped lettuce leaf. It was one of the most interesting things I have every eaten and was truly amazing. Bottom line, you pay for what you get. More expensive = better quality ingredients. Also, some people complain about the wait... well I mean it is a tiny little place with basically 2 or 3 people working, so if you come when they are busy, expect to wait. What has happened to our society? The interent, smart phones, etc make us so impatient. I went here at 7pm on a Wednesday night, there was only one other person in the entire restaurant and the staff seemed to be particularly occupied in the kitchen though no one was actually present in the restaurant. The music in the restaurant was rather annoying, if you have been to their website its just as annoying. Also the restaurant needs some lighting, it was not mood lighting but more I wish I could actually see what I was eating. The waitress was attentive but not really engaging and the restaurant was rather disorganized with menus piled up on the bar, the open kitchen was a nice concept but the disorganization being so visible was a deterrent. Food: I ordered the veggie burger special that was in a collard wrap. It was a nut burger. Not very taste at all, nothing unique and very over priced. I also ordered the oatmeal chocolate chip vegan cookie, dessert is something that I do not really do (especially at vegan places because they tend to use a lot of artificial ingredients to get the similar texture if its not specified as raw). The cookie did not look appetizing at first but the waitress heated it up before bring it out which was much appreciated. However, the cookie was not sweet at all, very SALTY. I think they messed up the recipe.It ended up costing me around $25 to $30 with tip, way to expensive for one person and it being a mediocre meal. This place is a gold mine. Philly Cheesefake and Raw Tacos are insanely delicious. This is literally the best vegetarian/vegan restaurant I have been to yet. The juices are amazing too! The food does come out slow because there is usually one guy cooking but trust me it is 100% worth it. Everything is fresh made right then and there (which is important to me!). So fresh and so delicious. My meat-eater husband said the Philly was better than any cheesesteak he has EVER eaten. I'd rather wait for my food than have pre-prepped crap! Imagine my chagrin when I realized I've been walking to crappy Subway for a crappy veggie patty sandwich for lunch at work when I had time to go out, when i could have gone an extra half a block down Aliceanna to find this place! I love that this is a local, vegetarian/vegan restaurant in the city with a diverse menu, the only one that I know of so far so I would like to support this local business.....BUT, The reason I docked this place one star is that the menu is really expensive, to the point where I feel like I would only eat here very rarely. So I'm turning a new leaf which will inevitably slow down my Yelp contributions while hopefully simultaneously returning me to my former glory. That is, I'm going to start focusing on healthier dining options and I begin on this path with a review of a visit to Liquid Earth this past Saturday. I was tempted by the raw section of the menu as the places that offer "gourmet" raw entrees are so limited in the DMV. Decided to go with the raw pizza and apple lemonade. It came with a flax seed crust and was topped with a nut butter, thinly sliced tomatoes, and some basil. It was just aiiight. For starters, I could barely cut through the crust. I probably needed a knife, but there weren't any on the table. I'm also not so sure the crusts are made on the premises. Once cut, I felt like I was eating canapes, and I'm wondering if that's how the dish should be described and presented already cut in little squares and easy to eat raw canapes. The pizza was $15. My friend went with the guac and chips for a mere $10. The menu did claim it to be made to order, but I wasn't too impressed which perhaps could be blamed on the avocados, but it had more that pale yellow green tint to it, and not the rich green. The apple lemonade wasn't bad. They may want to rename that tart apple lemonade. Yes, I get that the use of granny smiths should have given me a clue, but it didn't. That's ok, tart is good. My dining companion went with the Phat Beet made with apples, beet, and ginger. It was very tasty, and I like how it came served in a pyrex measuring cup to keep the drinks consistent, no doubt. I'd return to Liquid Earth simply for the lack of abundant alternatives and because I believe in the mission, and I appreciate how they can appeal to the various types of vegetarians out there, but for me to say I was wowed would be a non-truth. read more

Liquid Earth Cafe is nicely decorated and has perfect mood and lighting for a date or a well needed urban sanity check. For a healthier Cheers experience sit at the bar and chat with one of the lovely employees or family members. The talk is free, but you have to pay for the food, which is delicious, nutritious, unique and worth every penny. I really like the vegan Ruben and the royal flush juice. Got a sweet tooth? Then eat one of their delicious deserts, vegan options often available. The music selection is always unique and appropriate (snatch soundtrack being one of my old time favorites). Food definitely isn't the first thing that came to my mind when I contemplated a trip to Baltimore. It's times like this that I reply on Yelp more than ever to find a vegetarian oasis other than the Bay Area in the expansive desert that is the largely veg-unfriendly continental United States. Yelp, you did not disappoint! This is certainly a charming vegetarian/vegan restaurant for Charm City. I was basically expecting a Cafe Gratitude experience (for those of you in the Bay Area) and I pretty much got that in terms of food, only with larger quantities and better prices. The decor is fabulous - I love the exposed brick walls and the handwritten, colorful menu on the wall. Certainly conveys the idea of crunch! The employees were pleasant and answered all of our questions with patience (we asked a LOT of questions). The variety is overwhelming - the menu is long and everything looks to be chock-full of veggie goodness. I eventually settled on the Sacred Submarine and the Dohler juice. The juice was fantastic and came in what looked like a liter measuring cup. Yum! Then came the sandwich. It was HUGE. Lots of veggies, vegan cheese, and fake meat. Great taste. However, this is where I have to take off a star: I was disappointed to see that the bread was thick, white Italian bread. Say what?! Oh *hell* no! I'm sorry - you just cannot, under any circumstances, serve a sandwich with white bread in a vegetarian/vegan restaurant. Liquid Earth, you should know better! White bread = not whole grain = high glycemic index = unhealthy. Vegetarianism 101! It still gets four solid stars, and is a required stop for vegetarians/vegans in Baltimore. Good stuff. read more

You get 3-stars for being a Vegan restaurant in an area where there aren't many vegan choices. The food is great, but a bit pricey. The ambiance is perfect, but the service is pretty awful. It's like they're stoned while taking, making and brining out your order. My grandmother moves faster than the servers here, and she's been dead for 10 years. read more
