I'm very sorry to hear about their business being so damaged by a fire and I hope they recover quickly! I had always avoided places like this because I assumed they only sold crack seed, which I'm not into. But I checked it out recently and it is a great store! First, two very cute dogs sitting just inside the door greeted me so nicely that I had to play with them for a while. Very good customer service so far! Then I realized that they have some Taiwanese style crunchy ume and oolong tea soft ume, both without any li hing powder. These tasty just like the ones in Taiwan and I quickly returned to the store as soon as I could to buy more bags. (My little son also discovered them and ate most of them!) They also have all kinds of candy: American candy, Asian treats and some nostalgic candy like haw flakes and those little li hing pellets that look like rabbit poop--haha. Last, when checking out, I noticed they have all kinds of teas and bubble drinks and people in line were telling me their favorites. I'm always looking for another opportunity to consume more sugary drinks! I hope they reopen soon so I can continue to support their business! read more

A small store filled with lots of different snacks that reminds you of that homemade, quality snacks your family packed for you. The store is clean and organized, lots of dried seafood snacks, macadamia nuts (different flavors), dried fruits, and has a drink counter that serves slushies and blended drinks. Staff was friendly and seemed to like their workplace. There were two friendly dogs sitting in the corner relaxing, and not bothering people. We wish we could bring a pet to work to keep us company. Our main reason to come here is to bring back some of the Hawaiian treats without the generic corporate stuff you find at mainland gift shops. This place has all of that and more. Cost ranges from $5-15 per bag of treats depending on what you like. Drinks were tasty and lots of different options. I would recommend this place for people looking for some quality snacks for gifts yo bring back home, and for some different types of snacks if you're adventurous with food. read more

Now that I'm living in SoCal, I can't find Li Hing Mui or the Powder here (my favorite on fruit). So I order online from Lin's Hawaiian Snacks. There is a big difference from Snack Hawaii. After being thwarted by two shave ice places due to holiday/vacation hours, we finally found Lin's Hawaiian Snacks to get a shave ice after our long hours of walking down from Manoa Falls. We walked into the store and it was like our oasis. I just wanted to eat everything I saw but I had to hold myself back. We looked at the menu and focused on the shave ice. We did have to get a boba cause we're those type of people...the boba drinking type. There's a couple seating options, a few tables inside and bar seating as well as outside table seating but it is limited. We got our drink and shave ice (azuki bean with mochi). The drink was definitely not oolong. Felt like something was making it funky tasting but we had no idea what. The boba hard. The shave ice on the other hand hit the spot. It was perfect for a hot day and a long walk. The service was quite friendly and the music was interesting choice of pop punk from late 90s early 2000s which for me are my groove jams. I am addicted to their Ube Chex Mix! It's kind of pricey at $10/big bag but it's so good, i can't help but stop by everytime I pass their shop, which is often!! They also sell lots of different kinds of snacks, great for making care packages to send back to the mainland, and they also have drinks/shave ice. I like the way this store merchandises their goods. I was on the hunt to find sweet tamarind candy, like the kine from the Philippines with the bright yellow wrapper and I found something similar to it here. This one from Lin's is better because there's no seed inside of it and it's also sweeter. The downside is that the wrapper sticks to the candy because of the sugar coating. My dad told me to just eat it, and you can remove the wrapper in your mouth easily. At Lin's they have a huge stall at the Aloha Stadium swap meets. It's better to come to their storefront location because they have air conditioning and they have other selections of goods besides their packaged arare, dried seafood or li hing mui snacks. read more

At first when I walked in I was a bit overwhelmed and didn't know where to start as there are so many snacks to choose from. For me, walking into Lin's Hawaiian Snacks is a trip down "Memory Lane".... The rows of glass gallon candy jars filled with Chinese-style dehydrated or preserved fruits (plums, kumquats, olives, lemons, mangoes, pineapple and more) as well as candies, dried seafood and Japanese arare (rice crackers) are reminiscent of my paternal grandfather's importing and exporting business in Chinatown. EXCEPT that Lin's is spiffy clean, air-conditioned and even sells food items like SPAM musubi, milk teas, and shave ice. I walked in after having a fruit juice at Lanikai Juice Queen and I could feel my eyes dance with glee as I strolled the aisles. You can purchase the treats by weight and have the sales representatives scoop out what you want OR head to the shelves that are lined with prepackaged products (4 oz or 8 oz). I think they may have larger sizes but I didn't go there as it was too tempting. The labels and prices are clearly marked so you know what you're getting. They'll let you sample if you're unsure of the taste. This store participates in the Five Stars Loyalty Program so you don't have to worry about using a stamp card. Service is quick and friendly. I purchased my snacks and happily skipped out the door. NOTE: Beginning July 1, 2018, Hawai'i has enacted a stricter plastic bag ban which ensures all plastic bags will be banned, except those used for produce and restaurant takeout. A very good sized store, metered parking is available in the Nalu Lani Building parking next door mauka. Municipal parking is also available along Kamakee St and many other streets nearby. There are 5 long rows of crack seed jars as well as their crack seed in several different size packages. Several other walls for candies, meats, and arare. There is even a sample wall with a small handful of candies, crack seed, and arare for $1.25. Lin's has specialized in one of the latest crazes to hit the islands, a mix of lemon peel & gummy bears. They have several other variants of lemon peel with: gummy strawberries, cola bottles, and some others. Thirsty? They have coffees, boba teas, and others. I came here hoping to get some treats for souvenirs and realized I came to the right place! There's so many options at this store, it was so fun to just walk around and look at everything they have to offer! A wide variety of sweet and savory options; some with and without li hing mui so there's bound to have something for everyone. Known for their crack seed and snacks, Lin's has quite a wide selection of sweet, sour and savory treats. I went to the Aloha Stadium swap meet and I passed by this big snack stand and I knew immediately I had to check it out to see what goods they had for me to snack on. A lot of things tempted me, but what stood out the most was the dried cuddle fish. I have never found a really good brand so I tested out both the spicy and regular cuddle fish and I fell in LOVEEE. So in love that I made my mother bring me to Lin's Market in between Ala Moana and Kaka'ako. It's a cute family business featured their dog chewy where they sell Hawaiian and Asian snacks. At their store location, they also sell bubble tea drinks, smoothies, and have a nice seating area. Their boba was pretty good, I didn't need to change sweetness levels. Anyway, back to my cuddle fish. Their spice, to me, was hot. Usually, franchised brands would lower their spice levels for universal judgment, but this kind of burns my mouth in a way where it's so addicting I don't want to stop eating. Which is why I also bought the regular one so I can balance out my pain. I bought 3 fat packs home on my carry on for a total of $50 because I will never find another place as good as this. The kids are I were craving some shave ice in town. We looked it up and thought this was the perfect place! I had never been here before, but it is super cute and there is a huge variety. There are a TON of snacks. As well as shave ice and boba. The shave ice to eat there comes with a cute and ingenious box to hold it on. That sounds simple, but it is so awkward to hold your shave ice and try to eat it as quickly as possible on random benches like most place here. They have some convenient tables, and seeing that we had 2 babies with us, they told us to sit down and they'd bring it out to us. The shave ice itself is really good! I am simple, so just got strawberry and ice cream. But my husband indulged in the azuki bean one. It was huge and really sweet. Not my taste, but he liked it. We parked at Whole Foods and walked, which we probably weren't supposed to do. But I'm not sure how convenient parking would be otherwise. Overall we had a great experience! This place is a perfect sweet spot for my family! We each like different things so when we go to this spot everyone finds something they like. We like to get the Cafe Glacé, my older boy gets a Snow Ice, and my younger boy gets various snacks, chips and candies like gummy bears & strawberry sour belts. When ordering the Cafe Glacé it is best that you pronounce it in a fancy way with the accent in the word Glacé. The price is excellent when you compare to the flavored ice places in Waikiki like monster ice which is way heavy on the wallet. My bf's go-to is their blended Thai milk tea with egg pudding. We think they put extra Thai tea so the blended ice doesn't compromise the flavor. My go-to is their Creme brûlée milk tea (the brulee flavor comes from the roasted tea they use, it almost has a Carmam flavor to it) with egg pudding. 'Eh, how many of you folks remember going to a crack seed store with a few bucks in your pocket, only to ask da crack seed man or lady, "Eh, how much seed can I get for a dollar?" Yes, growing up in da 808, I think all kids at one time or another, have experienced eating crack seed, arare, Icee frozen drinks, ice cake, almond cookies, tea cookies, chips, & candy! My fond memories of going to the crack seed store in Kaimuki (on Koko Head Ave)., just across the street from Liliuokalani Elementary School. One of my favorite things I like to eat was the Baby Cherry Seeds, and of course I had to get an Icee.........and I use to save the Icee stamps from the cup to get a free Icee when I filled up my card. A true crack seed store use to have the seeds in a large glass jar, and you have the crack seed man, or the crack seed lady scoop up the crack seed to weigh it, then they charge you accordingly. Well, times have changed.........and other crack seed stores have popped up. The new stores are much more modern looking, well lit and bright, cleaner looking, and although they still have the glass jars, it's mostly for nostalgia purposes as most cracked seeds stores now have their cracked seeds pre-packaged. Which leads me to Lin's Hawaiian Snacks............. Lin's Hawaiian Snacks has been around for quite sometime. I use to buy cracked seeds from Lin's all the time when I went to the Swap Meet, and years later, I found out they had an actual store at the Ala Moana Farmers Market, just across the street from the Ward Warehouse. When I found out they had an actual store, I really like that, as it was much closer to my home for me, and they sold the same exact cracked seeds that I would buy from the Swap Meet. As you know with the redevelopment of the Ward Warehouse & Ward Center area, businesses move or close due to the massive changes in the area, but lucky that Lin's Hawaiian Snacks has survived in this busy competitive world! Lin's Hawaiian Snacks is still in the Kakaako/Ward Center area, but they just moved down the street just next door to the Phuket Thai restaurant. Lin's Hawaiian Snacks is a pretty big store, where is sells drinks, cracked seeds, cookies, & other snacks.............too much to mention! They also have some cracked seeds in the large glass jars too! But most of their seeds are prepackaged, and ready to go. The nice thing about this store is they actually have some tables & chairs inside the store, so if you buy some treats, you can actually sit inside the cool air conditioned store & enjoy your snacks! NICE yeah???? How did I end up here? Well the other day I was having breakfast at Harry's Cafe, and while walking back to my car, I just so happen to pass by Lin's Hawaiian Snacks and I could hear Mr. Crack Seed calling me into the store, so I just popped in to pick up my favorite Baby Cherry Seeds, & some Almond Cookies! What can I say about the snacks? A little pricey for the stuff I bought.........but of course I am comparing it to the same stuff I would buy at the Swap Meet, where I would get more seeds, & cookies! I do understand they gotta pay rent, utilities, & employee salaries, so with the beautiful store, they have to charge a little more for their snacks. The quality of the snacks is still fresh, and of course, it's deeeeeeeeeeeeelicious!!!! I don't know about you folks, but whenever I look a certain crack seed, as soon as I pick it up & look at it, my mouf starts getting all watery & juicy! That's how you can tell that ya dig dat treat!!!! Ummmmmmmmmm! There is parking available in a private lot, but it's not free, as you have to observe the stall number you parked in, then pay at the kiosk.
