Coconut kukui shampoo/conditioner (bottom), coco mango soap (top left), Tiare gardenia lotion bar (top right)
    Janel T.

Honestly my favorite place to get clean and natural ingredients! I'm traveling to Japan this year and was in need for some TSA travel friendly products that I needed to test out before I leave. I was warmly greeted by the cashier and she offered if I needed any assistance, I asked her where her shampoo/conditioner bar soaps were located and she directed me to the back where there was many varieties for your bathroom and house needs. I'm more into sweet dessert like smells since flower smells hurt my throat so this is what I got: Products bought: Coconut + Kukui shampoo Coconut + Kukui conditioner bar Coco Mango body soap bar Tiare gardenia lotion bar Coconut + Kukui shampoo bar smelled just like chocolate! I checked the ingredients and it does contain cocoa butter that makes the smell so good! It lathers really well onto my hair, making it squeaky clean. Coconut + Kukui conditioner bar also smells like chocolate! Only downside is that it's harder it lather so you make take awhile to get it all over your hair. I usually start from the top of my head then work my way to the ends of my hair. I add small splashes of water so the conditioner and spread better. Coco Mango body soap bar smells like mango! It lathers really well and leaves yours body squeaky clean. Tiare gardenia lotion bar, I was curious about this product and never heard of a lotion bar and wanted to try it out. It takes some time rubbing on to your skin and I try my best not to press to hard and break the bar. It leaves your skin with a buttery feel but not really not my favorite since it didn't have the smell I wanted. They only had the Tiare gardenia scent in stock when I went and I was hoping to get the coconut vanilla bar when I visit again. I recommend Keep It Simple for your go to place for TSA travel friendly products! But for storing your soaps I recommend put them in a soap saver mesh bag and not a tin container.

Congratulations on your new location!! Woohoo!! I believe they said they do have a designated parking spot but wasn't sure where to park though luckily it was Sunday and all street parking is free so it was a breeze to swing by and check out their new place. What a beautiful layout so spacious making it super easy to browse the free reusable containers has it's own shelf which makes it simple to go through when you're like me who swings by unexpectedly and needs a refill. I did see a few items I haven't seen in the past so am excited for that though I do still have some left and it seems to last forever lol! Today I came to pick up some bamboo straws that I love and the last time they didn't have much so I'm back!!! With lots to choose from I found the one and am so delighted. You inspire me to do the right thing one step at a time and every bit does make a difference. Thank you!

Bought my Bubs here and brought my doggie!! They also had a sweet shop dog that I loved. They had a bunch of different Swedish candy but the Bubs were definitely my favorite. The staff is so kind and I experienced very chill vibes. It's also in kaimuki which is such a cute area

National Earth Day is already this week, so there's no better time than the present to highlight a fabulous zero waste business. Thanks to Stacilei T who introduced me to Keep It Simple. This adorable shop is hidden amongst the various shops on Waialae Ave in the hip Honolulu neighborhood of Kailuke. Upon entering, Liza lit up our lives with smiles and joy. We strolled their shop while taking in all the beautiful aromas and asking her questions. They carry local products with a similar mission of protecting the environment and improving our health. Gotta love the body soaps by Keālia Organics, MeliWraps to consciously save or store food, and the 100% Cotton Dryer Balls with 'aloha' or pineapples sewn into them. Yet, their main product line is loads of natural, made-in-house soaps, shampoos/conditioners, lotions, laundry detergents and more. Purchase a reusable bottle and then stop in to refill whichever product when necessary. Switch up the scent if you so choose. Be sure to sign up for a free rewards account to rack up points for future savings. And more importantly, keep it simple, Honolulu! This place makes it super easy to integrate a healthier form of living. Now if only we had one of these stores in California...

So many interesting smells - my human also loved smelling the soaps. Dawg friendly and AC was 10/10 on a hot day.

Jar clearly marked 14. The owner tried to say she thought it was 1.4 Tried to charge me for an additional 10oz!!

All my friends call me the bag lady, haha. Anyways, I recognizes these bags right away. They're from Eden in Love. They have the cutest bags ever. This is the biggest collection that I've seen. They probably have all the design and sizes. Most places only carry the medium size as it's their most popular. Here they have it in small, medium and large. I couldn't help myself and had to get one. I got the medium Sushi Crew bag $18. Service was ok. The cashier was nice. The sales guy working the floor seemed irritated when I asked him to help me locate the bag.

I try to avoid Simply Home (at Kahala Mall) because there are cute things at the front of the store... luring me in... I tell myself I don't NEED more stuff... However... The merchandise in this store is useful. Dish towels, tote bags, shower curtains, hooks, pet supplies, kitchen gadgets, trivets, and charging cords are some of the items in stock. I even saw a bunny toothbrush holder and a panda hand sanitizer... so cute! I will return to get gifts - especially for mainland friends. Some of the designs have Aloha themes like local grinds... such as okazuya, pineapples, and laulau! Service is very friendly and positive! There was a young man who was sincere about wanting to help me find whatever I was looking for! Thank you! Anyway... it turned out that my friend wanted to get me a Bowl Hugger. It's like a potholder that goes around your bowl when you place it in your microwave, so you can protect your hands from the hot bowl when it comes out from the microwave! Clever, thoughtful gift, right?

Explained to me about how the product work, he also suggest several discount packages if I'm interesting to purchase, at the end, he recommended a full set of vacuum product that is 50% off the retail price which is hard for me to ignore, so I purchased this 32 pieces vacuum set. There were 2 sessions and each class was limited to 16 participants and I was told the class books up quickly. The August class "Cooking Local Favorites: Korean" was taught by Chef Grant Sato, winner of the 2015 Global Taste of Korean International Cooking Competition. In the 4 hour class we cooked 3 recipes: Soondubu Jjigae (soft tofu stew) with tofu made from scratch!, Miyeokguk (Korean seaweed soup with beef), and Dakjjim (braised chicken with noodles and vegetables) Chef Sato's competition winning dish. Classes are held at the Culinary Institute of the Pacific's beautiful new kitchens on 4500 Diamond Head Road. Parking is right in front of the building and you are advised to wear close toed shoes and long pants. You can bring an apron if you want (I did not). All ingredients and cooking equipment are provided. Masks are required for participants. Upon arrival you are given the recipes and assigned to a station, 2 students to a station. My son took the class with me and we got the station right in front of the demo area which was nice. The stations each have two sinks, a stove, knives, pans, and the assistants bring you the ingredients for each dish. Chef Sato gives a demonstration at the front of the kitchen and everyone watches, then goes back to their stations to replicate what he just showed. The 4 hours pass quickly, there is much to do. I even learned how to cut up a whole chicken (my son would not touch it.) One of the things I really liked about this was finding out what exact ingredients Chef uses in his cooking so I took lots of pictures of the products. The resulting dishes were all delicious and we packed them up and took them home. There was a lot of food, enough for several dinners. I will definitely take more classes here! HINT: Since you are sharing a station, its fun to sign up with a buddy.

KCC Culinary School RULES!…read more The newest addition to KCC is The Culinary institute of the pacific located at the old Canon Club on Diamond Head Road. There is a gorgeous kitchen with state of the art preparation stations for each student, KCC has done a remarkable job to propel their Culinary program forward and upward. This first time, I had the privilege of visiting the kitchen facilities as well as sample food prepared by the students at the Culinary Institute for a contest sponsored by 7/11 Stores in an effort to expand on their 2019 take out bento menu. The contest will garner 2 winners with purse of $1000 and $750 respectively for the 1st and 2nd place winners. There were eight contenders. Each entry had to contain local ingredients, healthy with conscience to nutritional value and the preparation cost price point had to be something reasonable for 7-Eleven to be able to resell the lunch meal. The meal had to also withstand the heat as it sits under the heating element waiting to be purchased. I enjoyed their sampling process. We got to try each entry served in something more than bite sized portions, chat with each contestant about their creation, chat with the educating staff at the Culinary Institute and always with Yelp Events we got to visit and chat with fellow Yelpers old and new. Congrats to all 8 entrants and kudos to both 1st and 2nd place winners! Be sure to stop in and visit a 7/11 store next year to try these great creations
