Although the sign on the door indicated that walk-ins are welcome, we did not feel that way after stepping inside. My wife asked generally, "Are you busy?" No acknowledgement. Understood there happened to be no free technicians at the time, but the gentleman behind the counter seemed to ignore us as we stood by the door assessing the situation. When my wife turned to exit with me following her, the gentleman finally spoke up and offered, "If you'd like to wait..." My wife responded "No thank you," and headed for Honolulu Nail Salon, a few doors down in the same complex, which she had noticed upon our arrival. As we entered, it appeared they were busy as well, but at least one of the techs sat us both down and started my pedicure. My wife waited a few minutes until the second tech was free, thanked my wife for waiting, and proceeded with her pedicure. She was able to engage my wife in pleasant conversation. I've been seeing her for some years now, her daughter Lily is working out of another nail salon in town and use to do my manicure/pedicure if her Mom was already booked. She has an eye for detail and will clean up your hands and feet like there's no tomorrow. Lux Nail Salon is pretty on the inside with a few other nail technicians that are also available. Several leather chairs for pedicures. It's a nice quiet atmosphere with comfortable air conditioning. Street metered parking all around the Kakaako area. I haven't quite figured out what would be the best day to visit Ha during her work week. But I'll be back again soon!

I can't remember if we can request techs although all the techs I've encountered so far (and I see them all the time) are good and competent and their procedures are consistent. Same-day appointments are usually possible as long as you call early enough in the day, even on weekends (their hours are 9-5). The price has remained competitive as well which I appreciate. I often have a hard time choosing colors because what's in the bottle may not look the same on my nails. I really appreciate that they'd accommodate testing the shades for side-by-side comparison so I can see which one I like best before committing. I also did only one nail with designs bc of how long they took on nails. It was gelX and a $100 for 1.5 hours. For that level of meticulous I'm also expecting close to perfect but still have imperfections and a notable instrument slice in one of my thumbs polish. My fill took about an hour and a half, and when it was time for my pedicure, I was told my nail tech had a 12:00 PM appointment and was running behind. I was surprised because I had specifically booked time for both services. While I understand that staffing issues, no-shows, and scheduling challenges happen, I don't feel that a client should lose part of their appointment because of circumstances beyond their control. I agreed to reschedule the pedicure, paid for my services, and left. After I was already on my way home, I noticed that one of my nails had not been top coated and looked unfinished. I called the salon to let them know. My nail tech did offer for me to return later that day or come back the next day, which I appreciated. However, I had already made plans and was not in a position to drive back after having just left the salon. My total was $94, and I left a $20 tip because I believed everything had been completed correctly. My disappointment was not about the cost or being charged for a cut-down. It was about leaving without receiving the pedicure I had scheduled and discovering afterward that one of my nails was unfinished. I genuinely liked my nail tech and have enjoyed my previous visits, which is why this experience was so disappointing. Unfortunately, I left feeling rushed, overlooked, and unsatisfied.

I looked for a nail salon located close to the UH Manoa campus and came upon Nail Story. Nail Story had great reviews on Yelp and I liked that I could make an appointment online. The prices of the services was also available when you make your appointment. We arrived a little before 5pm and had to wait awhile before a parking spot opened up in the lot. My daughter showed her technician the design and she was quoted an additional amount of $46. The technician then went to work and when it was time to do the design, there was a lot of back and forth as the technician had not done a sunrise shell design before. My daughter wanted it just right and asked her to redo it several times. I was surprised her technician didn't take offense, but also happy that my daughter was making sure she was getting what she wanted. The technician was great and stayed patient as she tried to replicate the design as best as she could. Finally, after what seemed like the fifth time, my daughter gave a big smile of approval. Thank goodness! | was getting hungry! My daughter loves her nails and I also had a great experience with my pedicure.

Walk ins are welcomed here and they are quick to schedule an appointment if you call ahead. There's adequate stalls in the parking lot and they validate your parking stub so be sure to see the lot attendant before you enter the pretty nail salon. On average, there's at least five friendly faces that welcome you. Everytime I've been here, they are expeditious in getting me to a massage chair for pedi pampering. Consistently, the basin is clean and dry with sanitized nail tools opened in front of me. As with any salon, they have a menu of different levels in service. I feel they are reasonably priced and most times I request Deluxe pampering....although I have done the Royal pedi pampering a few times and loved it :) Unlike another nail shop in Kahala by Times who was rough and rude, THIS nail salon is so gentle. The technicians do a great job and I always leave feeling refreshed! The salon is clean, the employees are polite, and I enjoy watching an hour of K-drama on their big TV while being pampered.
