I have been coming to Manoa Nails regularly for a basic spa pedicure every other month or so for the past two years. All techs wear the same matching scrubs, and sometimes it's seasonal, which is cute. :) I've been told that assignment of techs is rotated but idk if it's per client or per day. I can't remember if we can request techs although all the techs I've encountered so far (and I see them all the time) are good and competent and their procedures are consistent. Same-day appointments are usually possible as long as you call early enough in the day, even on weekends (their hours are 9-5). The price has remained competitive as well which I appreciate. I often have a hard time choosing colors because what's in the bottle may not look the same on my nails. I really appreciate that they'd accommodate testing the shades for side-by-side comparison so I can see which one I like best before committing. Located on second floor on makai-ewa end of Mānoa Marketplace above the post office and playground. There are stairs and also an elevator available. It's a smallish yet clean and welcoming salon. Everybody says hello when you walk in. Appointments are preferred but sometimes on a whim I pop my head in and someone is available. They are all very good technicians and my favorite is Ann. Very pleasant, not too talky and does a great job confirming what I want or don't want, if it's okay or not okay, basically checking with me so I'm satisfied. The fees are very reasonable and you may pay with credit card but must tip with cash. What makes it different than other salons I've patronized is that the technicians are not talking amongst themselves. They are focused on their client and only their client. I always leave happily satisfied with the service and my nails do keep for quite a while even if they're not gel when I give them a rest. read more

My regular nail salon was closed so I decided to try Manoa Nails and get my nails done for V-Day. In hindsight, I wish I had waited for my go-to salon to reopen. My visit was for a set of acrylic nails, but unfortunately, the service fell short of my expectations. The nail technician was hasty and careless, neglecting uniformity in the size of the nails on each hand. The filing was inconsistent, leaving me with a mix of crooked nails, some pointed and others rounded. When I mentioned it to her, she said my nail bed is wide. But what does that have to do with the length and shape?! When I go to other nail salons, it typically takes around an hour and a half, but this session was rushed, lasting only 45 minutes. Also, the paint job was sloppy. It was obvious that the speed compromised the quality of the work. Based on my experience, I wouldn't recommend Manoa Nails. I couldn't wait to get a nail appt with my usual place so I decided to go here bc they had lots of openings. Service was okay. They weren't very welcoming and just stared at me until I told them I had an appt at 1p. As for my nails, I wanted French tip but with a pastel blue. I'm brown in skin color and I told the lady I don't want too pink of an undertone (bc I'm brown) but she proceeded to do as pink as it gets. She told me that's the only way, which obviously is a lie bc I've had French top done before to which they go for more neutral tones for the nail color. As for the actual French tip she made the top so thick I had to ask her to reference a photo and to make it thinner and more curve since the base of the tip was straight rather than rounded. She corrected and it was much better. Overall, I'm not sure if she was trying her best or not but I was highly dissatisfied with my nails. I walked out looking like I had pink and blue cotton candy nails. Besides telling me to "pick your color" at the beginning, the nail lady didn't speak a word to me after. Not even at check out. This is my go-to for affordable nails. The service is wonderful and honestly the quality is great for the price. I have tried other nails salons in this price range and have had horrible results (gel manicure "peeling" after only a week or so). The gel manicures I have had at Manoa Nails last (I mean for over a month and I just can't take it-so yes I eventually will peel it off which is so bad). I will say that every staff member does a great job; but I have been working with Tina and just love her work! She is also a pretty great nail artist! She is not chatty and kind of shy, but so sweet! If you want a high end boutique Japanese style gel nail experience-that will cost you a ton of money, this salon may not be for you. However if you want great looking long lasting gels that can look very similar to the aforesaid style, Manoa Nails is the place to go. Make sure you make an appointment (they often will answer the phone immediately to book) and bring cash for a tip. They do accept credit cards for the actual bill (just not for the tip). In six long years of getting my nails done, I've never encountered anything as nightmarish as this. Not just in nail salons--anywhere. This was the most abysmal, rage-inducing, soul-crushing experience I've ever had in an establishment. I asked for square nails and what did I leave with? Duck. Nails. Quack quack, a total disaster. I noticed early on how unnaturally wide my nails were turning out, so I kindly pointed it out to the technician. She picked up a file, gave my nails the most pathetic, half-hearted swipes, then moved straight on to applying the polish. By then, it was beyond obvious how horrific the shape was becoming. I showed her the inspiration photo (that I had already shown her at the very start), and asked her--perhaps naively--if these were meant to be coffin-shaped. She had the audacity to insist that they were square. The nails on my hands couldn't have looked more different from the picture if I had used a hammer on them myself. Then, as if I wasn't already on the brink of a meltdown, another employee shuffled over to "translate." Without so much as glancing at my nails, she declared that "square nails are supposed to be wider at the tip." Seriously? Are we redefining basic nail shapes now? Because what they gave me wasn't square--it was duck nails, and it was downright insulting to claim otherwise. Not only did I have to pay full price for these heinous atrocities on my fingers, but I also had to walk out of that salon with the ugliest, most deformed nails I've ever had in my entire life. The Uber driver had to endure my sobbing all the way home, while I stared in horror at the monstrosities that were supposed to be "nails." This wasn't just disappointing--it was a form of emotional torture. If I could give negative stars, I would. I called at 8:30 AM and got appointments for my 2 nieces (11 & 15 yo) and me, for mani-pedis at 10:30 AM. Two gel pedicures, one regular pedicure and three regular manicures. The gel color selection was good. I was very happy and the person who did my services was sweet & professional. Everything was clean and nice. Came in for a simple acrylic nail removal. Curious about this place since it's so close to home but will not be going back. My nails are so thin and frail now and I've never had my nails filed down with a drill to the point where I knew my nail was getting so thin to that it started to fray and become very painful. If I didn't stop her from continuing I think she would have filed down to the skin! I can't even put any pressure on the tip or tops of my nails as it is so sensitive now!! I had such a wonderful experience at Manoa Nails! I usually don't get my nails done and I'm a biter. From previous negative experiences on the mainland, I feared my nail technician would scold me for my short nails, but to my delight, she was so friendly and helpful! I made a reservation for a mani/pedi. I was asked to pick out colors. My technician (I think her name was Anne or Anna) was so sweet. She asked me to pick a different color she thought was better quality and that would match better with my skin. She was right! She also asked if I wanted gel because it would last up to 3 weeks. (She asked this AFTER she already prepped my nails for a regular manicure, thereby essentially making more work for herself, but she didn't mind!) I agreed to the gel and we picked out a color together. I loved her choice. It compliments my skin so well. She did a fabulous job of trimming my cuticles and nails. They are so clean and perfect! I especially love the gel because my nails are shiny and dried so quickly. She then gave me a really nice pedicure too. I opted for regular polish of a darker maroon hue. I loved the relaxing massage chair. She did yet again a great job, making me feel comfortable in a place I usually don't frequent. All safety precautions are taken for all patrons. Diana and her team are great as usual ! They do have barriers set up between the customer and the technician (s) if you're doing nails since the tables are a lot smaller vs the chairs for pedicures. However they do also have barricade between the chairs but if you go with friends you can still converse. Oh also upon entry they ask for your info and do temperature checks too. I could not find the salon, and I called and asked exactly where it was. I explained that I was in the parking lot near Safeway and Longs and said I would be right up. I read a book during my pedi so we really didn't engage into any convo other than a slight tap when she needed me put my foot back into the water. My new fave nail salon. Very easy to book an appt. Just call and book. Staff is friendly and efficient. My previous gel nails started to lift after a week. By the time I had my apt at Manoa Nails (about 2.5wks after I got my previous nails done), 5 of my nails lost their gel coating. :( I didn't have high expectations coming here because prices are cheaper than the previous place I went to. But the reviews here were so good that I wanted to try them out anyway, AND I'M SO GLAD I DID! 2 wks later and ALL MY NAILS ARE IN TACT! None of them are lifting! If anything, I have a small chip of gel gone on my thumb nail, but its not even noticeable. I got my nails done here a month ago for my wedding party. I made an appointment for 10:30. I was hoping for earlier, but I made it too late and another wedding party already made reservations for 9:00. They were able to take us in early, though. They were very nice and gave me some recommendations for color and other things since I don't get my nails done very often. I ended with a gel French manicure and a regular pedicure. Both are still in pretty good shape considering it's been a month, and my now husband and I have been moving into our new place. It's very convenient with the parking, too, which is a bonus. I'd definitely come back again, but I would make an appointment before I come since there were a few walk ins that couldn't come in as a result of the wedding parties. When I walked in I was greeted right away and asked which service I wanted, like most nail places. I wasn't given any indication of how much each service would cost or options for service. They have a price list on the wall in plan view of the services offered. This was my first time getting my toe nails done since I had foot surgery. So they needed to bring out the heavy pedicure equipment for this job. Ann was working on my feet today. She was nice and gave me a swatch to choose my nail color. She directed me to choose from the new colors. They use OPI which usual has the latest season of colors. Today I choose a gel pedicure. Since I still have a brace on my foot I need strong nail polish that won't smear or chip. Side note: I always have a hard time getting service at nail places. It's like we are all sitting on these throwns with massages chairs. The women doing our feet are often not talked to while we are on or phones or devices. It's reminds me of how privelaged we are in this country. They have the standard massage chairs. I wasn't able to go as far back ( tall girl problems) which is usually the case. Nice massage chair selections. The cleaniness and equipment get three stars. Not the cleanest place. The pedicure bowls plastic look a little worn. I didn't see her break out new tools for my feet. The emery board she used looked old. If I hadn't be accustomed to salons in other countries, I might run from this place scared of getting a foot fungi. Still they get four stars cause Ann was gentle with my post surgery foot. And she was kind, did what I asked ( warmer water for my bath please, no I didn't say that). So don't write this place off. But I won't be going here again. I think I prefer somewhere a bit cleaner. And more exchange and conversation with the person working on my feet or nails. Called two days in advance for an appointment for 2 pedis ($24.99 each). when i arrived at my appointment time, our techs were waiting for us and asked us to pick out our polish. So many choices! Josey was my tech and she diligently filed my toenails, removed the cuticles, scraped off the dead skin from the bottom of my feet, and gave me a great lower leg and foot massage. Then she asked me to put on my slippers before proceeding to paint my toes - brilliant idea, since we all know how easy it is to ruin your paint job while trying to put on your slippers. I'm not a frequent nail do-er but every once in a while I'll have an itch for self care in the form of getting a manicure and Manoa Nails has never ever disappointed. Not sure why I've never written a review but they've been my go-to for years (although sporadically). The prices are very affordable and the nail techs are awesome and I've gotten my nails done by different folks but they've never disappointed. I've seen my friends go to places that offer similar prices and have gotten completely botched nail jobs! I always end up getting the fade gel polish, which has been $35 for literally as long as I can remember. The last time I went was in 2017 so I told my friend "it was $35 then but it may have gone up" and sure enough it hadn't. I got a white glitter fade (gel) and my friend got a blue glitter fade (regular) and both were BEAUTIFUL and exactly what we needed. I thought the regular polish would look different from the gel for some reason but it was executed perfectly and the only difference was that hers took forever to dry so I had to carry around all her things afterwards. The gel hardens under the UV light so you're good to go in seconds. My cuticles are clean/well maintained and my nails feel like they got a makeover and I still feel good about it five days later. The fade style helps because even if it grows out, it'll still look somewhat natural and since the gel doesn't really chip, it should last a while. TONS of free parking, lots of options to choose from, affordable prices! Schedule your apt now (they take walk-ins too!) and give your nails some love they deserve because YOU deserve it. read more

The ONLY nail salon I ever go to! I can't believe I waited this long to Yelp this salon. I've been going to Manoa Nails for the past 4 years now and they never disappoint! All nail technicians are meticulous and knowledgable, the space is clean, and prices are very reasonable. Walk-ins are accepted but its always better to make an appointment, even if a few hours in advance. I usually always get gel manicures because they're cheap, simple, and the store has LOTS of color options. I've been to other nail salons that do manicures so quickly and messily that the gel starts to peel off a week or so after I get them done. That doesn't happen here! The ladies at Manoa Nails are very careful not to get the gel on my cuticles or the surrounding skin, which is why my nails last a long time and rarely peel off. I've also gotten acryllic nails done here a few times. One time my acryllic nail broke a couple days after I got them done, which was totally my fault because I was being rough carrying some luggage out of my car, so I called the store to ask if I could just pay for one nail and they fixed it for free! The ladies here did a great job both times and my nails looked so clean and healthy afterward! They're also very nice. I am obsessed with my nails, it is exactly what I wanted! The salon is appointment only and they get booked up pretty quickly. They are very covid safe and make sure there's a lot of space between clients. There's a plastic divider between the nail artist and client with cut outs for the hands. I came in with a design and was quoted $15 for 2 nails, which is pretty pricey. I showed the nail artist a picture of what I wanted and it did take a couple of tries but in the end she nailed it! She was very polite and receptive to feedback. This is my new favorite nail salon!
