So I have gone to Ellen many times before. This the first time, I've experienced OVERPRICED, for subpar quality of work & materials used. The Vietnamese customer services have really gotten bad in Hawai'i. This would never be except-able service in Vietnam. But for some reason they think it is okay in the USA. I had time to kill in Honolulu and saw Ellen Nails. Thank goodness they take walk ins. Janet did my pedicure and did an amazing job. I got the deluxe pedicure and it was worth the extra $20. I had acrylics put on for a holiday party and I decided that I liked them. So when my nails grew out, I went to Ellen Nails for a fill. They are on my way home so I took a chance to see if I could just walk in, and I did. There were no other customers. I noticed that another reviewer said that the tech didn't ask about what shape they wanted and honestly, I wasn't asked either but I did get exactly the shape that I would have asked for. I was able to make an appt for Saturday on Wednesday for a full set for me and a mani pedi for my mom. My mom's appt was at 9 and mines was 9:30 since the mani pedi takes longer. There is parking behind the building you can enter from Keeaumoku or S King. I knew I should have brought a jacket because I was freezing. It took about an hour to do my full set. And it looked great when it was done but funny thing is she never asked me what shape she kinda just shaped it which I didn't care I liked the shape I thought it was interesting that she never asked when they normally do. As of June 5, 2020 everything has been CoVid updated! They are not currently taking walk-ins and you must have an appointment! Your mask must be worn for your entire service and and if you do not have a mask, they have the right to refuse service. Upon entering there is a mandatory temperature check, and hand sanitizing station. Each seat is now separated by plastic barrier. They are ONLY offering GEL mani and pedi. If you would like regular polish you must bring your own! They will explain this when you call to make your appointment! I don't like Gel pedicures so I brought my own polish but forgot the top coat. I decided to buy the topcoat from them for $10. Now I have my own and I won't forget next time! It's a different experience but I still loved doing something I used to do before Covid. The best thing you can do for yourself is to treat yo' self ... to a mani pedi! $38 for a mani pedi in town is ridiculous! And they have massage chairs! AND they actually accommodate for all walk ins! I love their pedicures! It always turns out great every time I've been here! Regular manicures are not done as meticulously. I haven't gotten a gel mani from them yet, but most photos posted seem like they do a much better job with gel. Will have to try it out next time! This place is no frills and perfect if you need a basic job done. And did I mention that they have massage chairs??! It's not a real pedi until you actually have massage chairs hugging all the crevasses of your body and pin pointing your knots. I made it a tradition that I would get a mani pedi done before I go on vacation. This is probably my go to spot and I will definitely be back! So I've never had a mani/pedi in my life. Was always the macho type of guy LOL. So one of my besties "invited" me sometime before the holidays so I figured, what the heck, why not? She's known Ellen for years, and being she's one of my besties, I didn't hesitate to join her. I've always worked on handyman stuff like construction and automotive to name a few so my fingernails were always jacked. This was my second visit in three months to Ellen Nails and am looking forward to future visits! Ellen and her staff are great! The place is clean and comfortable! The pedi chair has a built in massager so you can get a massage while they work on your toe nails and massage and moisturize your calves. The mani was also the bomb and she cut, cleaned up and bufffed my nails. Similar to when I detail my own car! Haha The experience was unforgettable and I highly recommend Ellen Nails! They are located on King Street in the right just after Keeaumoku Street next to Sushi Sasabune and the pizza place. There is metered parking on street and ample parking in the back. I visited this nail salon because it was nearby my boyfriend's apartment and other yelpers said the prices were fair. It was a Tuesday at 11am and they were able to get me in immediately when I walked in. Like others have said, the prices are good. My acrylic with gel nails and my gel pedicure was about $100. I'm used to paying that for a gel mani pedi so I felt that was a great deal. I had a picture of what I wanted and they did a pretty good job of achieving it. Now to the not so great part and reason that they are getting a generous three stars. I've been getting my nails done on and off for years and have never experienced this extent of lifting in less than a week. For this reason, I'll probably only return for gel. read more

Angelique is amazing. She's so sweet. I got SNS on my nails. It's the dip powder. I got tips in the shape of a coffin. They don't match up perfectly but we are only human. The store is clean and nice. They play relaxing music softly. I recommend getting SNS dip for your nails. Formerly Miracle Nails. No wait when I went in on a sunday at around 3:30pm but by 4 it was getting busy. There were 2 technicians and a third by 4:15pm. Great massage. They dont have a lot of samples of designs. They pulled out a nail book and you can choose. But only 1 tech can actually do it. We chose something from Pinterest for my 11yr old and she was able to replicate it. The colors seemed kinda old and could use an update. My daughter only wanted them to paint her toes as she is squeamish and very ticklish. They did trim and wanted to file. We declined it and they seemed astonished -said it would not be even. Said only the big toe then. We said we only wanted polish not a full pedicure from the beginning. $18.00 for polished kid toes. Beware. read more

I haven't been able to obtain a Southern California worthy manicure until now. Ellen gets it. Not only that but she is one of the few owners that I've encountered that will actually do your nails. Honestly, there is nothing worse than dealing with an owner of a nail place who won't/doesn't do nails anymore. The best thing about Ellen is how incredibly talented and fast she is at gel manicures. Terrible, Ive came in three times now and they don't want to do what I ask. I came in and wanted mani and Pedi and the lady kept telling no many just Pedi. This place is cool.. the locale has a pretty simple and solid design. The tile and decor is clean and neat. The massage chairs look nice and modern - not a whole lot of wear and tear on them. I had a regular mani-pedi and it was very nice and well done. The cost for this was $35 plus tax. They start the machine up and begin with your feet. You receive a little time soaking your feet and they begin by removing nail polish and cleaning up your cuticles etc. You also get a scrub and quick lotion massage before they begin the final stage of putting the polish on the toe nails. They are also nice enough to put on your sandals on your feet. The manicure portion takes longer than the pedicure and they are more detailed than with the toe nails. The service was fine. Yelp 100 Review Challenge 2015: 22/100 Decided to take my mom to get her nails done on Thursday for a pre-mother's day gift. Parking: There's a One-Way entrance to their parking from King Street and also a regular entrance from Keeaumoke Street. There is a pay booth but the signs read that customers get free parking for up to 2 hours I believe. Once I entered the nail salon I confirmed that I didn't need a ticket or anything to put in my window, that I could park where ever in the parking lot. (How do they verify if you're a customer of the complex or not?!) Service: It wasn't very busy when I arrived as a walk-in, as my mother and I only waited about 10 minutes before "Diana" called my mother for her turn. By now, my mother had ample time to select a color through their various nail color samples but Diana suggested another color for my mother's skin tone which they agreed upon. They made chit-chat while my mother got her nails filed, groomed and gelled which took about 45 minutes. The pricing on the wall stated $30 for a Gel Manicure and Diana was aware of my gift certificate but after she was done she didn't ring me up or anything. I awkwardly approached her not knowing if there was any extra charges, but she just smiled as I handed her a $10 tip, so I guess the gift certificate covered everything. My mother received a simple, one color, gelled manicure and was happy which made me happy. Atmosphere: Very clean, and open spaced. The nail technicians are dressed very professionally in white collared shirts and are very friendly. All in all, I am glad they made my mom happy, and her nails look great!
