Despite being on the smaller side, this nail salon makes sure everyone is getting quality service. I made an appointment for 12pm and arrived a little early but it wasn't a problem- they let me sit in the massage chairs until they were ready. I walked in to Tami to get a mani/pedi before attending a friend's wedding events on the island. The experience far exceeded expectations! I had the best experience here!!! They were so kind and took me in with no appointment. Yen and Lynn did such a wonderful job my mani/pedi with gel polish and flowers! I felt like I was leaving my friends when it was time to go, everybody said goodbye and wished me a good trip. Jenny was my nail tech and did an amazing job! My feet were ROUGH! I hadn't had a pedicure in months and since I'm from Oregon, I've been in shoes since September! She started with a regular treatment and halfway said "I'm gonna give you the deluxe, ok!?" I had to keep from LOL'ing because inwardly I knew it's what I should have asked for in the beginning. Top notch service, beautiful work, affordable prices. I went in the day after the Honolulu marathon for some much needed pampering and foot care. Walked in with no appointment. I was very fortunate to be helped by Tami herself. I'm never good at picking my color, so I just said something Christmas-y. Tami selected colors for me that were perfect. For my toes it was sparkly red with the Hawaiian touch of a hibiscus. For my nails it was an ombre of a similar color. Perfect choice since it will look great the whole holiday season. Last time I was here was 2007, remembered how great the service was. I needed to get a full set of acrylic with tips and gel polish, I was a walk in and they said to wait 15 mins. Anna was my manicurist and did an amazing job, better than I expected. I'm picky about acrylic nail application and shape, I told Anna square shape and she did the best square shape I've ever had! Oh man this place was SHOE BOX TINY! I wanted a pedicure too bad and should have went somewhere else! The water was cold which I actually didn't mind and got such a hot day it was refreshing especially since they didn't have A/C. They are under construction badly and said they have been like that for months. They only took cash so after you finish they walk you around the corner to get cash out of the atm. Feels sketchy. Then my nails... all polish was coming off the pedicure as she was finishing she fixed it and once I got out side one nail came completely off and by the time I got on our cruise ship another came off. With in less than a week I had 4 nails of gel polish come off and my pedicure alone was $90! I asked for just a simple French tip and she added flowers and design. I've never had polish come off like that before normally my toe nail polish lasts a few months. read more

They're super rude. I've been living in town for a year and get my nails done every other week. Trust me, there are much better places nearby! The girls who work there are very judgmental, and you can tell they're talking about you, which makes the whole experience uncomfortable. Also, making an appointment doesn't seem to mean much. You can show up on time for your scheduled appointment, only to be told they're too busy and to come back later. read more

BEST NAILS IN HONOLULU! Arriving Hot off a plane from California, not having my nails done was a big-time stressor. After checking a few different places and laughing at the ridiculous prices, I happen to stop into Tami-A Nails. Right away, Yen greeted me with a huge smile and actually listen to what I wanted done. There was no pressure and no upsell. She and Tammy worked on my nails and my toes and even suggested that I do the dip. Again, no pressure and no up sale. Their work was phenomenal, they were extremely sweet, they made sure that my chair was comfortable with pillows and a towel, and I got a deluxe hand and foot massage and the price was phenomenal. I will be sharing this information with all my friends and I look forward to coming back a few more times this year and going straight in to see them. They have a customer for life. Thank you, Tammy and thank you Yen! I love my nails, and I can't wait to come back and try a different color in style. If you are in the Honolulu area, don't waste your time going anywhere else, as a tourist popping in, the price was amazing. They got me right in, they listen to what I wanted and they told me exactly what the price would be with no tricks, added tax or added expenses. Went here last minute to get a pedicure and saw good reviews online so I decided to give it a try. I got a pedicure the other day and my lady which I didn't get her name, kept digging into my toes trying to get ingrown toenails which I did not have to start with. This caused multiple toes to bleed and have problems after the service. Also the bowl where you put your feet in did not have a liner, and after watching people come in and out, it doesn't seem that they clean the bowl in between customers which can really be a health hazard. My toes ended up looking great which i'm at least happy about but after giving my lady a small tip because i didn't feel the service deserved a larger tip she was visibly upset that it wasn't more. The only time she ever said anything to me was to ask which color i wanted and if it looked okay. The prices are reasonably but I definitely wouldn't recommend coming to this place. read more

I received 5 star service with an amazing massage. Holly was excellent, I had to rush and she really encouraged me to stay so my toes could fully dry and so did her colleague, but I HAD to leave out. I of course smudged my nails later. The next morning I came back and ask for a touch up and Holly was able to get me in! She is so sweet and very professional making sure the quality of her work reflects her standards. She took her time, fixed everything perfectly, and made me feel completely taken care of. Exceptional service, kindness, and attention to detail!! I will absolutely be coming back and asking for Holly again. Highly recommend! read more

Girls, please be careful. I did not feel safe at this place. First, the staff were very rude to me. Then, when it was time to pay, they wouldn't let me review the bill before charging my card, which is something I've been able to do everywhere else. They took my card first, and when I asked to see the bill, they became angry, started yelling, and refused. Later, I met some of the women who had been there before me, and I realized I had been overcharged for the same service. One employee named John became very aggressive when I asked for a receipt. He started yelling and acted as if he was going to confront me physically. Based on my experience, I did not feel safe there, and I would not recommend this place. read more

Called to ask if they had room for a mani/pedi for me and a pedi for my husband and they said yes and come on over. We arrived 30 minutes later and were seated right away. Five pedi chairs and separate mani stations. They are busy and I can see why; they are very thorough and high quality. Don't cheap out and get regular polish. Get the gel, so it lasts! Many colors and finishes to choose from. They tell you the price in advance and don't push if you don't want something. Tami did my manicure and she's fantastic. I can see why the salon has been there for 24 years. Thank you for the beautiful nails for our 25th wedding anniversary! We will always return when we are here. They do not take Apple Pay so please have cash or a card (ATM also next door). read more

There was a bit of a mix up but it worked out in the end. Pulled up to the driveway to the left of the store front. You have to pull up close to bar for them to open up automatically. There were no spaces available but an attendant came out to open up a spot coned off as I informed of an appt at K1. I walked through the lobby and made a right street side. I was the only client in. I was greeted and asked to pick a color up front. A selection of colors from natural tones to catseye and even organic for $5 more. I sat by the window where water, a phone holder, and candy treats were placed on a tray in front of me. Great comfy chair design where the sink pulls out from underneath the chair. Two ladies immediately got to work to remove my existing gel color with their power tool then buffed it out before apply this gel overlay. It was my first time getting this clear base apparently making your nail bed stronger. When I put my hand into the dry to cure it, it was a bit too hot. She adjusted it and asked me to pull my hand out if that happens again vs putting my hand all the way in. She mentioned my nail is too thin. But after my first coat of color, I didn't have any issues. She did a great job shaping my nail to a square rounded edges. There was no hand massage but not sure if it was an add on or not. However, my pedicure did come with it as I do remember selecting it during my Yelp request. She used a cheese grater to exfoliate (I am starting to think this is only available in Hawaii as other nail salons do the same). She did a thorough job with my cuticles, filing, ensuring there were multiple coats with each curing. I enjoyed my leg foot massage especially since I play so much tennis, 3 hrs the previous day, so it was a nice treat. The place was quiet and relaxing, unlike most salons I go to in Cali where it's always packed with chit chatting or nail techs speaking loudly to ea other that I can fully enjoy myself. The only usual experience was the whole time I was there, there another woman standing behind the woman doing my manicure. This woman just stood there the majority of the time just observing and didn't say anything. Not sure if she was supervising or learning. It was just....odd??? Overall, the experience was nice. Check out was easy. CJ was really helpful. Pay by Credit card or cash (no discount). I ended up paying cc and left a tip on there. If memory serves me correctly, a gel mani gel pedi with removal and organic nail polish and tax was around $157 plus a 20% tip ($31ish). Went ziplining today, the day after, and my nails held up well. Not a scratch. Would definitely come back again.

My hair is really thin and fragile cause I always ruined it by doing all kinds of bleach and extensions. Ever since I've been coming here, Duyen helped me maintain my hair and it's way better now. Taking a leisurely stroll around Maunakea Marketplace (because I had free street parking on a Sunday) my friend and I paused in front of Instyle Hair & Nails because the place didn't look busy and I had some time. There were a couple of staff sitting outside, taking a break, so, I approached slowly and said, "Pedicure?" I was cheerfully greeted and shown to a massage chair. The nice gal, Deb, placed a new plastic liner in the basin and started the warm water. She asked if it was too hot and adjusted the temperature. She started to help me (telling me the difference in price between regular polish for $30 and gel polish which lasts longer for $45), but another customer asked for her, so she switched me off to someone else. It's okay because the new gal (didn't get her name) was very careful and thorough. She took her time and did a good job! I sat for a couple of hours because I haven't paid attention to my feet for months. Haha! (I'm kind of a last minute, busy person and will get moving if I can't stand it anymore.) Anyway, here are my observations: Greeting regular customers is a good sign! The four female workers were cheerful and kind to everyone, especially kupuna! The hair stylist asked (in a nice tone of voice) how a certain customer wanted her hair cut and told her that next time - don't cut your hair yourself because you can't see behind your head (she cut her hair to her scalp!). The hairstylist explained politely to the customer about her unique needs and showed her options on how to style her own hair! That's good service! Another example: A little girl came in with her mom. The staff treated them really well. The mom asked for gel polish for the daughter and the staff said they cannot do it because it might burn her daughter's young skin - plus, her fingers and nails are still growing, so, it's not a good idea to put strong chemicals on the area. Wow! That's being responsible and honest! I think I spent over two hours here because the technician paid attention to my dry cuticles, cracked nail, and other issues. She verified the color of gel polish two times before application. Thank you! I was just going to give four stars, but after hours of hard work, the worker still gave me a mini leg/foot massage and brief hot towel to wipe off excess lotion on my legs! She didn't use pumice stone on me (maybe I didn't need it), but she did repeat the acetone/cotton/foil treatment to the stubborn nails several times - instead of using the electric file technique. I appreciate the gentle approach and will most likely return on a future Sunday!

I've been here a few times before but was so glad to come here recently. It has been so hot my daughter and I wanted to chop off some hair. They did a great job on my daughter's hair first, cutting off all her dead ends and "thinning" out her hair since she has so much of it. They then did the same for me, mine was much shorter though. Since we both have very wavy hair, they took the time to straighten our hair to make sure it was even which took a lot of time for them. I only paid $70 for both of us, considering how much attention they paid to us I do think that is a very fair price. Will be back in a year when I get tired of my hair again lol!
