Super easy to walk in and make an appointment. She followed the picture I gave her to a T so if you have a picture reference definitely bring it with! They turned out adorable and so strong/durable! I did the builder gel x so they uv glued nails on and built up with more gel and color/design on top. It took a week and a half for the first stone to fall off and the color did chip off the gold studs relatively soon after so keep that in mind. The location is super convenient! I made a manicure and pedicure appointment for myself and a mani appointment for my mom. Both of which were done online and 1-3 days in advance of the day requested. However, they only did a pedicure on me and a manicure on my mom. They never acknowledged the manicure I booked in advance. Once my pedicure was done (my mom was done for a while at this point) they started walking us to the front to pay. When we tried to explain that my appointment was for a manicure AND a pedicure I was told to come back some other time for the manicure. I don't think it's right to only be given half of the service you requested via an appointment. Most of the customers were getting manicures and pedicures done simultaneously. During my pedicure there were times when some of the techs were free and they even took walk-ins. I'm genuinely not sure how everyone was able to book manicures and pedicures. I left feeling upset and slighted. I did however, enjoy the pedicure and my mom enjoyed her manicure. read more

First time revisiting Lily as she has closed shop at Emma's Nails, I've followed her to her new salon at Moana Nails! She has been doing my nails for some years now, her Mom use to do my manicure/pedicure if Lily was already booked. She has an eye for detail and will clean up your hands and feet like there's no tomorrow. Moana Nails is pretty on the inside with many other nail technicians, leather chairs for pedicures, you will be paying higher prices for the same services, but when you find someone who knows you, your life, and all the things. That seems to matter most nowadays. Plenty of ample and free parking right in front, some customers have found a way to also do their shopping at nearby Ala Moana Center. Chloe's attention to detail is like no other! She was super intricate with the artwork. I feel like it was better than the inspo pics I sent her, honestly. I loved the vibe of the place walking in, it was my very first time there and everyone was so friendly! While I was waiting I signed into their point/reward system. The salon is very neat and aesthetic, the bathroom is clean, and there's ample parking. My appt was around 5 and it was busy inside, everyone trying to get their nails done before Thanksgiving probably (like me, hehe) When I was seated, Chloe offered me refreshments. They had soda or water. Not all salons offer so I thought that was very nice of them. Pictures don't do this set justice. Horrible place. The person who did my nails forgot to put the gel polish on one part of one of my nails and rhe color came off the next day, and they charger me so much for everything. Walked in to this place and they took great care of me. Got a basic pedicure and Anna did an excellent job.

I tried gel nails at a different location and it lasted me 3 weeks, no breakage! I was eager to try this nail salon. I walked into Moana Nails and the experience was pleasant. The women were nice. The gel removal was uncomfortable, but I could handle it. The painting began, it was over so quickly! I don't think they put enough layers of gel. The hand massage they gave at the end was delightful! I was happy. Two days later, I noticed my nails breaking in little areas. Then after several more days, the polish was already receding and one of my nails cracked in half! Ouch! Understandably, I called them and they scheduled me a spot to come in so they could fix it. I went in once more, disappointed, but in high spirits that they would make things right. The lady who did my nails passively argued with me for five minutes, only saying once, "I'm sorry, BUT...." Which everyone knows isn't an apology. She said my nails are thin and if I use my nails too much (wtf?), it will run down faster. She also said that removing gel polish weakens the nails. Why did no one tell me that would happen? She wouldn't take responsibility. I expected a complete redo, but she quietly proceeded to simply file the nails and repaint thin layers over the existing polish. She worked quickly, as if trying to get rid of me. When she was done, I had to ask for lotion. And then I asked if I would receive a hand massage, and she said they don't do that for this service. So I asked again and said I'd tip her, then she finally relented and gave me a 1 minute hand massage. I tipped her $5 and I regret it. Get your gel nails at a different place. read more

I stopped by on a weekend after work and had no trouble booking my appointment online. When I arrived, they were even able to take me earlier than scheduled. Ann greeted me at the door--she was kind enough to open it for me--and the first thing I noticed was how clean and pristine the salon looked. Ann took care of my manicure. My previous set involved acrylics/Gel-X, and I was worried about how the removal would go since a past manicurist had pried them off without asking, even adding acrylics afterward because my nails had been cut too short. Ann, however, was patient and gentle throughout the removal of both the acrylics and hard gel. Conversation was light and easy, and she genuinely wanted to know what I liked and didn't like. The massage at the end was also wonderful. For my pedicure, Cathleen worked on me. Even though I went with a simple gel pedicure, she was attentive, detail-oriented, and took her time. Both Ann and Cathleen were courteous, patient, and made the experience very comfortable. I believe this salon is fairly new--I actually found it while searching on Yelp for something close to work. I truly hope they continue to grow, because the customer service here is excellent. I'll definitely be coming back! read more

Had a very upsetting experience. I had an appointment for 10 and I wasn't seen until 10:20 and I got a gel pedicure and acrylic gel nails for my hand (pictured). I used a reference photo from the google reviews on how I wanted the shape. Despite this, I had a technician who did not ask me once what shape I wanted (I look like Popclaw from the Boys). Then, when I brought up that I didn't like the skinny style she did on my right hand (without asking me), she still continued to shape the nails like such. She kept grabbing my fingers like they were stuck in a finger trap, and sighed loudly when I asked her if we could start painting my nails after she took 30 minutes simply filing it. I was so upset, I simply paid and left, but only AFTER telling the manager how disappointed I was. No discount was offered, nor any kind of apology. Keep in mind that this cost me $65. I then called, hoping for a partial refund of $30, after realizing how disappointed I was AND that they did not give me a massage despite it being included in the price. Instead, they simply told me to return so they can fix it after I spent 2 hours there (I also got a pedi - which I def liked but it was a different nail tech). Honestly, I would recommend finding another place given the price and the poor customer service. $65 (just for the manicure, the pedicure was another $60!) is a significant amount of money, and the fact the nail technician (and management) wanted to do it there way (or no way) is exactly why you should avoid this place. read more

I'd give Moana Nails a solid 3.5 stars. The polish looks great and the scrub/massage were excellent--definitely the highlight of the visit. However, a few things kept it from being a 5-star experience. I tried calling several times before my appointment to ask about parking and their location, but no one answered. Once I arrived, my technician was very persistent about upgrading to deluxe and to get gel, even claiming regular polish would take an hour + to dry, which felt like an exaggeration to push the upgrade. Additionally, there was some confusion about footwear. She didn't mention the shop provided disposable flip-flops until the very end, and after I had already told her several times I brought my own shoes, it felt a bit unnecessary when she later chastised me for "not having them out." It's a bit pricier than other local spots, but the quality of the pedicure was solid. I'd return for the massage, but I'll be more firm about my preferences next time. read more

Leilani was so sweet--she got me settled into a chair, offered me some water, and even suggested waiting to start my pedicure till my friend arrived so that we could experience it from staart to end together. FINALLY!!! After years, the search is over! Moana Nails is, by far, the absolute BEST nail salon on Island. My daughter and I decided on an impromptu "Girl Day" yesterday, but were wary to include our nails due to negative past experiences. We're so happy we decided to try one last time! Upon arrival, we were immediately warmly welcomed by the young lady at the front! I feel horrible for not remembering her name, but she knew about all the different nail processes and was so genuinely kind. She had wonderful advice and we absolutely adore her! The salon itself was beautifully clean and didn't smell of chemicals like most other salons. The bathroom was neat and tidy too! They have many service options for men and women alike, but we only had our fingernails done (so far ). I think 3 or 4 guys came in for pedicures while we were there, though! Rose and her sister provided our services and we're so impressed. We were hoping to have have matching styles and they did not disappoint! Rose and I had lovely conversation and my daughter felt very included. The pricing is very reasonable and there aren't any hidden surprises at the end when at the register.
