Miki'ao is an all-natural nail bar located in the Symphony Residential complex across from Blaisdell Concert Hall. The establishment uses no chemicals so don't walk in expecting the traditional blue chemical foot soak! Instead of the traditional blue bubbles and exfoliating scrub that you would commonly receive during a pedicure treatment, Tori (the owner and nail stylist at Miki'ao) avoids chemicals all together - using in leu of chemicals, a "dry treatment" via a high-tech filling machine which removes dry skin around the cuticles. Amidst a bruised runner's toe, I made a last-minute appointment, via phone call (however appointments can be made through the website; link in Yelp bio!), with Tori. Debating at whether gel or a regular pedicure would work best at hiding my purple toe, Tori helped me decide which selection would best fit my lifestyle. I ended up choosing the basic pedicure ($55) which includes cuticle care, Lomi Lomi foot massage, and nail color of choice. If I am being completely honest, I was hesitant that the high-tech filler would give a complete and thorough the treatment of my cuticles, however, I was pleasantly surprised with the results! The nail color selection is beautiful and diverse (I had a hard time deciding!). Following the cuticle treatment and massage, my toes were left feeling refreshed and achy feet light as air! Overall, I loved my experience at Miki'ao. Tori is the nicest nail stylist I have ever met! Looking forward to the next opportunity I have to treat my self to a relaxing spa day! Parking Tip: When driving down Ward, use the second turn into the symphony building to find parking for Miki'ao. You can park in any of the valet stalls after 4 pm, before 4 pm there is valet parking (price unknown as my appointment was at 5 pm). I couldn't be happier with my nails from Mikiao! Tori helped me out and walked me through the whole process and was so nice. After visiting many nail salons in my life, this was my first wholly amazing experience. Because of their dry techniques and boutique style it was very clean, no chemical scents, and really cute! I got the Kumu manicure with gel nail polish and although it was a little more expensive than your regular gel nails, the quality and ambience of the service made it completely worth it. What caught my attention was the non-toxic products they used plus it was a small place where i would be the only one getting my nails at the moment and during the pandemic that appealed to me. Second time here. This time I opted for the gel on my toes. Tori did a fabulous job again! I was super stressed as I had a bad experience getting to the location from Waikiki. I called Tori to let her know that I was running late. She told me that they no longer offer Valet service at Velocity and that it's now self parking only. I said ok, when I arrived there was no one outside to direct me where to park. The open stalls all said Velocity Valet only so I didn't park there. There was a sign that said additional parking upstairs so I drove up only to be directed back down. I called Tori as I was extremely frustrated. She came out to make sure I got a spot. She told me that I could park in any of the stalls marked valet. Velocity still needs to change the signs. I was relieved to hear this as there were many open stalls. She walked me into the salon and offered me sparkling Perrier and within minutes I was comfy and cozy and not stressed at all. Thank you Tori for making my what started out to be a very frustrating Friday evening relaxing and calming. Absolutely love this place! They use non toxic products that I think has helped my nail polish stay on longer. Normally my nails start to chip after a week but since getting my nails done at Miki'ao they have lasted up to 3 weeks for me! Not going back again. Nail polish started lifting off after only a week although I don't do housework or cooking or anything harsh for the nails !! So very expensive compared to other nail salons !! Parking and location so very very difficult to find and locate!! After only a week, my gel manicure ( the so- called healthy manicure) started lifting at the edges !! This place is definitely different in a good way. Booked pedicure for me and my hubby. We always bring our 3 year old daughter with us everywhere we go. So glad that you really don't smell any toxic chemical as soon as you walk in. It's definitely a plus when you have to take your little one. We definitely have their full attention during the whole appointment time because it's appointment only. Both Tori & Ram are so friendly and easy to talk to. I am so glad I found Miki'ao Nail Bar while visiting Honolulu for a few weeks! I am VERY particular about my nails as I have had quite a few negative salon experiences... Tori utilizes a dry manicure/pedicure process which (I have found) makes my cuticles look a lot cleaner and my gel to last way longer than the traditional mani/pedi where you soak your hands and feet to the point of being soggy... Tori payed close attention to what my needs were and I couldn't be happier about how my manicure/nail art and pedicure turned out. This is the best nail salon on Oahu. If I'm going to get my nails done, this is the place I'm going to go. You know that ubiquitous pink lotion found at every other nail salon on the planet? Yeah, that is definitely not used here. They use less toxic nail polish (that are at least free of the five harmful chemicals found in traditional polish) and natural, local body products from Oshan. They use an e-file to remove dead skin from your cuticles and feet and that thing works wonders. Waaaay better than the typical cheese grater. The salon is by appointment only so it isn't crowded with people. You get individualized service and actually feel pampered. This place is worth the extra money to get a better-for-you mani/pedi and an all around better, luxury experience. read more

This little nail bar was an amazing experience. I was greeted at the door for my appointment. I was walked through each step. The salon was quite and comfortable. AND had A/C (huge plus here, since some places do not). I think my favorite part is there wasn't a strong chemical smell since all of the products are safer for use. I had soo many color choices I basically flipped through the tiles the whole visit to make sure I didn't miss one. So great. Guys, don't sleep on getting some work done. This is the first time I've ever had a mani-pedi -- it was an end-of-the-school-year treat -- and it was definitely a treat! We went for the full works and it was worth every penny. My feet and hands both look and feel great, still a week after, and Tori and Ram are total pros who put us at ease despite the fact we were newbies. What a treat! The staff at Miki'ao are super friendly and knowledgeable. These ladies are on a mission to make the world better through your feet! I'm currently pregnant with my second child and really needing the relief of a pedicure. I got one once with my first pregnancy at my typical nail salon and felt sick because of all the awful smells and I was super nervous the whole time because I was worried about what the chemicals were going to do to baby! Walking into Miki'ao and not being assaulted by smells was such a relief and knowing that they use non toxic nail polish & products and all of their treatments we're super hygienic I could actually relax! While I was doing said relaxing in my cushy chair my nail artist was giving me a really beautiful pedicure and making magic happen with my feet--I work out side a lot for my job so my feet were in awful shape. By the time she was finished they were not only beautiful but softer than they've been in (many) years (husband concurs!). On top of that I got an education on the effects of pregnancy on feet and how to better take care of them so they stay soft and happy even with my lifestyle. This is not what I'm used to at my typical salon and I love it!! I can't wait to go back- so worth it!! read more
