Ugh feel bad saying this, because this used to be my go-to place and the ladies are nice, but this place is not worth it. I came here for years and spent literally thousands, but within the last year or so, the quality just totally dropped. Even when I was going frequently, the quality was inconsistent but had enough positive to keep me coming back, and they have good hours. But now the bad is just too hard to ignore. They don't change gloves, they don't bother to let the water warm up, stopped asking me even what color I wanted or if I liked the shape, sloppy with the edges on polish, too rough on cuticle cutting, uneven shaping, and overbooking. I would always tip $20+ PER technician and was a regular, but it felt like the more I came the shittier the service, like "eh she always comes, she'll be back". eventually got sick of feeling ripped off. There are better places that are same price, or slightly higher for much better service. read more

This used to be my go-to nail salon when I lived in Mānoa. Unfortunately, I will not return for the following reasons... 1. Cleanliness- they do not use any liners for the spa water that you put your feet in. It's 2023 and this is common practice now. Further the towels that were used were filthy. 2. Upcharge- I get it, with inflation and prices going up it's hard for everyone to survive. Fantastic Nails is $10 cheaper than Mānoa nails for a gel pedi... I'm already paying you $50 for a gel pedi do not ask me three times if I want to upgrade my pedicure. One of the nail technicians was trying to upcharge a woman in her late 70s/80s on a gel manicure. The lady could barely hear/understand her. It was so uncomfortable and relentless. If you are sending your kupuna to this nail salon you better go with them so they don't get ripped off. 3. Service- the girl doing my pedicure cut my big toe and didn't acknowledge it. She also didn't do a massage but that was fine with me because I couldn't wait to get out. read more

I've been here twice now and I will say I've gotten two very nice pedicures :)) The staff is friendly and kind able to take walk ins. I would say to call if your party is 2+ and you also do have to be clear whether you want gel or traditional, but other than that they have lasted me a good few weeks even in my work boots Parking is a lil tricky, but there is a Safeway lot across the street which is convenient. Was happy that my daughter and I were serviced as a walk-in but we didn't enjoy that the nail tech was on her phone most of the time. She never made much engagement with me nor my 8 year old daughter. Customer service wasn't bad. My only complaint is the quality, the lady doing my nails definitely knew she was being rough and rushy but continued. All of my nails have cuts above because they drilled off my cuticle with the same tool they drilled my nail surface with. Sore and prone to infection. I had lunch at Off the Hook Poke Market next door and decided I wanted to get a manicure. Jessica was my manicurist and was really sweet while working on my nails. I came through the doors in a wheelchair so it was difficult to navigate into their small shop but the ladies helped move furniture around so that I could get through. The manicure was very thorough and Jessica took her time getting my nails up to my preference. I chose a pale purple color which on the bottle read "Melting Violet" -- really pretty option if you're looking for a nude or more natural color. It was about $40 including gratuity for the manicure. I didn't get a pedicure but other customers seemed to have enjoy themselves. It's a very small nail salon -- parking is in the back. read more

I told her I have a handicap (Crohn's Disease- a severe stomach disease) which legally allows me to use any restroom in an emergency. She rolled her eyes at me and laughed at me. I have never had my appointment start until it's been at least a half hour past the time I made it for and other customers will be taken and started before hand. I'm not sure if it's a double booking incase one doesn't show? The quality is ok if you're in a fix, facility is clean, and the lady's are nice. At first it was a bit awkward because she was trying to up sell me on getting gel polish again, or adding a pedi, or buying a bottle of new polish- but once I explained again that's all I wanted, she was friendly and it was all good from there. She worked quickly and even reshaped my nails a bit. It was only $7 for the polish change and $5 for gel removal, so very reasonable. So I went back today, 2 weeks later, even though it was a little early for a fill. I saw Hong again and explained how my nails were just too long. So she shortened them. I thought we'd have to start from the beginning but she said she could shorten them and do a fill (saving me time and money!). She shortened them with the drill, not the clippers. Well, I can get to change my earrings now and I can type a lot easier. We added red glitter on top of the original pink color and now it looks mauve to me. I love the color! This is my 2nd time here. The 1st time I wasn't impressed nor was this trip any better. I actually read the reviews for somewhere else thinking this was the place. When I paid, i realized I was in the wrong place and my observations from the 1st visit were still accurate. They don't do much in the realm of designs. Basic flowers. Also I was told 10min wait, but really 25ish so I visited Starbucks to pick up a drink. I was asked to sit in a pedicure chair with no water in it. By the time water was placed (about 10min into my sitting), it was only cold water being drawn. I made a small but audible gasp. She finally turned on the wArm water. My skin was also cut a bit. I have skin that grows close to the top of the nail and most techs never check. Luckily, it's only the big toes. She was more vigilant after that, though. The massage was no massage. Rather just a rub. It's usually my fave part of a pedicure. Everyone that came in was told "10min wait". So maybe Sunday is not a great day to go as they are small and get busy so maybe they rush. But as I recall, my 1st visit was on a Wednesday and it was the same service. I wish my preferred salon was open Sundays. I guess I'll just have to do my nails in the middle of the week at the reg joint. read more

I've been coming here for years and I always get excellent service. I always have one lady do my nails every time (I believe she's the owner). She always knows what I want and she always knows what can go with it and what I'm in to. It's only three women working so people have to understand that they can get over whelmed too. Although today I had to wait a bit to get my nails done it was worth it. And they are actually really clean (since it's such a small place) I witnessed them cleaning some Things today and they're sanitary. After reading some of the reviews about Manoa Nails, I decided to give Fantastic Nails a shot instead. I am not a complete pedicure addict requiring a pedicure every week or three. In fact, I usually let mine slide 6+ weeks. However, I know a good pedicure when I get one. Fantastic Nails is a tiny shop next to the Andy's sandwiches (in the same complex as the Manoa Starbucks). I wouldn't have known it was there, had I not been searching for a nail place with googlemaps. There are a chain of Fantastic Nail places in my hometown that aren't very clean, so I was a bit deterred by the commonplace name. However, I was pleasantly surprised. First impressions: I love it when nail shop's polishes are ORGANIZED! Every polish here had a number and a place. It kept everything nice and tidy. The shop itself is tiny, I think there were only 3-4 pedicure chairs and 3 manicure booths. However, the chairs were clean and NEW, which is another huge plus for me. They had decorated the chair with a pillow with a cute little pineapple embroidered on it. Nice touch :) The woman who gave me my pedicure was very sweet. Like most places, I think she barely spoke English, but she was very kind, and we had a mutual understanding and communicated effectively through body language and expressions which some nail techs lack. She moved my chair so that I could comfortably sit down, and made sure I was OK with the water temp, another huge plus for me. The woman next to me was a real rich fashionista type and started to complain that her color wasn't right. I could tell the woman giving my pedicure was a bit annoyed by the woman (as was I), but she smiled kindly and offered to switch the color. Thank the God of nails that she said no, because I could see that she would only find a problem with the next color as well. The chair I sat in was literally right next to the door, which was a little odd. The shop was cramped. At one point, a pigeon walked in the door, and I shooed it out with my magazine. But honestly, pigeons get in all sorts of odd places in Honolulu. It didn't really bother me. My massage was EXCELLENT, and they give a sea salt treatment for free. I am used to paying extra for treatments. They used pumice on me, which is great, because I have heard from experts that razors are bad. The woman wouldn't let me leave after I thought my nails were done drying. She insisted I sit for a little longer, which I thought was super cute. Most nail techs would love to have you out of their chairs so they can move onto the next client. She also insisted I don't put my moccasins back on, and instead gave me a pair of disposable slippers to keep. It was as if my nails were her children haha Pricing was about $25 for a pedicure, which is extremely reasonable in Honolulu, especially for a University of Hawai'i at Manoa student. And my pedicure is still flawless about 3 weeks later. I've been very disappointed with other salons in the area (especially the ones in the Ala Moana mall... overpriced and they always miss painting the edges of my toenails). But, IMHO you can't beat this place for quality and price. I will be returning. Again, the only reason it's not at 5 star is because it is so cramped! read more

I came here last week Friday to basically treat my mother for mothers day, treat my little sister for her 6th grade graduation, and me for my college graduation. My mom and sister flew in from Big Island to come celebrate Mothers Day and my college graduation. I came across this place through Yelp and wanted to give it a try. We parked across the street at Manoa Marketplace and walked over. Which is fine since its right there :) We walked in and it was a tiny little shop. Which I like! I love small shops and it felt cozy. We all had appointments for mani/pedis and were ready to get into the chairs immediately. We all havent had this luxury in a while so we were excited. I had Cindy work on me and she was very friendly! I was in deep conversation with my mom and she would jump in here and there which I didnt mind since I felt it was rude of me to not talk to her while she was working on my feet and hands. I at first wanted to have the Talon nails done, but was encouraged by Cindy to let my natural nails stay since it takes me a while to grow them. I ended up getting what I always get when I do my nails, the faded look or boogie nights as they call it. I at first was like "I want these Talons, but true I should just wait for them til I get over my natural nails" in my head. I ended up liking the ending results. I posted the pics of what my nails turned out to be (purple) and my mom and sisters (silver glitter and orange). She took very good care of my nails and didnt hurt me along the way. Most times, nail techs are rough, but she wasnt. She was also friendly, which I always like. Who doesnt? I also had my eyebrows done and I was a little uneasy about having a random person do them, but Cindy did an excellent job and she is now going to be my go-to eyebrow lady! I would def come here again and am planning to get my Talon nails the next time that I do! I would recommend seeing Cindy and Ill be seeing her again for sure. Also, I would like to add that you know how many nail places, the workers tend to talk in their own language to each other the whole time, you dont get that here. There was only like all together in the 2 hours we were there like 10 minutes of dialect with each other which I def appreciate and makes me less anxious if theyre talking crap about me :) read more

Have tried many different salons - some upon recommendations or location. This is the best so far! Jessica did such an excellent job on my pedicure. I have one toenail that is thick and most stylist will just try to cut it down with a clipper. She actually took some time and did such a good job! I also have gellish nails and beautiful! they don't grind down the nails and i feel very good about that. It's a small place so best to call ahead or go during the week. Prices equivalent to Manoa Nails, I don't know why I didn't just wait a few hours for an appointment there instead of coming here. Shop feels very cramped. Not too much selection on polish colors to choose from (for both regular and gel). So here's the kicker: the lady that gave me a pedicure filed off the skin on the top of one of my toes. I grimaced and flinched so I know she knew what she did but never apologized or tried to soothe it. She just ignored it and continued on. The "leg massage" wasn't a massage by any means, and the way she did the whole pedicure just wasn't enjoyable and relaxing at all.....in fact at times it was rather uncomfortable. And then, a different lady (who was friendly in her defense) did my nails. I had to ask her to put more gel on the sides of all my nails. Like there were honestly two large bare strips of nail showing on all my nails when she did them. She kind of seemed confused, as to why I'd want my whole nail painted? Which made me confused, because this is a nail salon.....why would she not paint the full nail? Do some people come in and ask for a "landing strip" on each finger as nail design?Anyway, at least she was a tad apologetic and complied with my request. Okay so .. This is my 2nd review for this place and o realize that having the right people working with you makes all the difference. Cindy is my go to from before but I'd always miss her when I get in. Today took my 7yr old in with me to get her mani/pedi she loved it & they treated her great gave her a lot of attention. While I was being worked on. Got the cutest mani/pedi that of course never matches ever lol I love it! Did a gradient gel nail & sold orange with design toe ! Initially I wanted to go to Manoa Nails, but apparently they were booked til 1230 and they weren't opened yet. Manoa nails is popular they are good but this nail salon is just as good, smaller than Manoa one maybe not as much choices as the Manoa nail salon but the customer service for me is first, then the quality ! First of all, I use to love this place. Until this past pedicure which sent me to the doctor with a STAPH infection....needless to say, do not go here. I got a pedicure done here and several horrible things happened: 1. She cut the skin around my big toe so much I was bleeding. Did she say anything? Nope. Just tried to hide it with the nasty towel that my feet were resting on. 2. After the pedicure, I noticed where she cut was very sore and red and I could barely walk...so I went to the doctor because naturally I figured it was just an ingrown nail. 3. After 3 doctors visits, over $100 in prescriptions and visits, I was told I had a staph infection in my cuticle. Gross, sore, and deadly infection. 4. All of this can be lead back to the nasty equipment used at this nail salon. Three weeks after my pedicure I am still limping around in pain. read more

I used to go here for pedicures and eyebrow waxing during baseball season when my sons practiced/played at the park. They were excellent back then and on off seasons, I'd go out of my way because they did such a great job. When my boys stopped playing; I stopped coming. They must have changed owners/workers/something. Normally I would come for pedicures but because I had some time and because they offered, I did a manicure. She worked harder at finding dry skin to shave than trimming my cuticles -- and she didnt ask if she could shave. Another person worked on my manicure. I appreciated the multitasking. After my fingernails were painted and they said it was dry, I went to the restroom (well, I had to) and I dinged my nails. I went back and they graciously fixed it. They said it was dry ... but after I left, I dinged it again! I thought it was me but my girlfriend had her nails done at the same time and she is much more dainty than I am, and she dinged her nails too. They weren't dry. The cuticles on my fingers and toes were dry for the rest of the day as if I did some construction. The paint on my toe nails were THICK THICK THICK. They were very nice which us why it took me so long to write this. Would I go back? I'm sitting at another shop right now. Let's see ... read more

This is a cute little shop located near my house so I thought I'd give it a try. They accept walk-ins, which I really appreciate! They started my pedi as soon as I walked in. The foot massage was excellent and my toes came out looking clean, polished, and my feet felt great! My full set with gel color came out pretty and the shape and color were just what I asked for.
