I truly dislike writing about my negative experiences…read more My nail tech was pretty rough and would turn my hand and fingers without a word into awkward positions and her nails would dig into my fingers. I thought she did an ok job, but a couple days after getting dip powder done my pink nails started fading into clear and white ish almost tie dye colors. The salon didn't feel clean or comfortable either. Parking was really hard to find too. It was my first time here and as I paid they said I had to leave a tip in cash. I told them I didn't have any cash and that I didn't know they only took cash. It was awkward and a bit stressful since of the language barrier my nail tech didn't fully understand. I asked if she could do Zelle or Apple Pay. They said no. And I said I'm sorry. But it felt like they wouldn't let me leave until I left a tip. So another nail tech got involved and it was like a 3 way award tension or none of us knowing what to do. Eventually I felt like I had to find a way to tip so another nail tech eventually had me Apple Pay her. Both the nail tech were not thankful for my cooperation and just visually looked annoyed and frustrated at me. But I truly felt very pressured and uncomfortable by this. If they require a tip and require a cash tip they should have explicitly put that in the booking instructions and notified me before confirming the appointment. I really didn't like this experience overall and especially didn't like feeling like I was corned and couldn't leave until a tip. It was a really disappointing first experience of getting my nails done here.

They have seven comfortable pedi chairs and they even have privacy curtains in between each pedi chair, if you wish. While the massage chair is on, sit back and enjoy watching their big screen tv. It was Vietnamese street food while I was getting pampered. They have an incredible selection of polish colors to choose from. The basic pedicure also included quite a bit of different services and that's just basic, and I think it's more than enough. Parking could be challenging because they only have a few spots right outside the salon as the other stalls are reserved for other businesses. Some signs would specify their hours of operation so if I arrive out of those hours I would just park there. Also Sunday street parking is free. Sometimes they would send random texts for 5% off, and also discounts for birthdays. I mean it's not much but better than nothing. Great spot. I paid $75 for my manicure ($25 manicure, $45 gel french tip, $5 nail fix) and my pedicure was $37 for a basic. The new salon is brand new and everything is very clean. Ruby did my pedicure and Alex did my manicure. They were extremely busy while we were there but it seemed like it ran really smoothly. Everyone was pleasant enough but not much talking and it did feel a little rushed at times but also understanding that they were trying to accommodate all 4 of us on short notice. Ruby cut slightly too deep into the side of my left big toe and she apologized but it was very noticeable swollen and painful the next day compared to my other toe so that's not ideal. She was very meticulous with the polish application though! Alex did a great job with my deep french manicure. He was very quick and efficient with putting on an acrylic tip onto my thumb that was shorter than the rest of my nails. He was careful to not have the gel touch my skin and seemed to be the go-to for frenchies. The girl working the front desk didn't seem to be in a good mood. I don't usually mind but she was very short with her responses and not particularly nice or helpful when I asked a few questions regarding the pricing and point system. There is plenty of street parking available and it was easy to find. They're very popular so expect to be a slight wait and it's definitely a more sterile and clinically run salon than a welcoming one. I didn't see anyone with a walk-in so I would always recommend making an appointment!

My daughter showed her technician the design and she was quoted an additional amount of $46. The technician then went to work and when it was time to do the design, there was a lot of back and forth as the technician had not done a sunrise shell design before. My daughter wanted it just right and asked her to redo it several times. I was surprised her technician didn't take offense, but also happy that my daughter was making sure she was getting what she wanted. The technician was great and stayed patient as she tried to replicate the design as best as she could. Finally, after what seemed like the fifth time, my daughter gave a big smile of approval. Thank goodness! | was getting hungry! My daughter loves her nails and I also had a great experience with my pedicure.

On average, there's at least five friendly faces that welcome you. Everytime I've been here, they are expeditious in getting me to a massage chair for pedi pampering. Consistently, the basin is clean and dry with sanitized nail tools opened in front of me. As with any salon, they have a menu of different levels in service. I feel they are reasonably priced and most times I request Deluxe pampering....although I have done the Royal pedi pampering a few times and loved it :) Unlike another nail shop in Kahala by Times who was rough and rude, THIS nail salon is so gentle. The technicians do a great job and I always leave feeling refreshed! The salon is clean, the employees are polite, and I enjoy watching an hour of K-drama on their big TV while being pampered. I don't know what happened to my first review so I'm writing the second one. I don't mean to say bad things about Nails La Vie because I've experienced the reused paraffin wax on my feet which I've seen it my own eyes when I walked in from the back door. I just don't want some kinds of infections or fungus spreading to other people that's why I'm writing this review. I don't understand why there is such place that would do anything to get money out of customers and don't even care about others, and the consequences of other people's health. read more

From what I read about your review of Nails La Vie, I can tell for sure that you're the owner who wrote it because you want to cover all the bad reviews concerning the sanitize of the salon. I've been to this salon many times and usually have the Refreshing or Signature pedicure. The flowers to put in the tub looked so old like it has been used for so many times. The sea salt are so limited, buffer is ripped and old. You keep saying how clean the salon is, but inside its totally cheap and unsanitize. So stop covering the truth.! read more

I have tried so many nail salons in Kaimuki and Kahala. I was about to give up and find one outside of the area until I found James at Nails La Vie. I like to do Gel nails on my fingernails and they normally dont stay on for more than a week. But James cleans my nails so well and applies the gel so meticulously that they stay on for two weeks and are so fabulous. James is great because he is a perfectionist. I tried others at the salon and they are all okay but James is the best. Really. He is the best. read more

I got a full set this morning, took the guy 2 hours and worst my nails ever looked. Looks like shit, charges $5 extra for an almond shape and every nail is literally a different shape, he could not do a French tip for his life. Was the most painful nail appt to sit through. I can't remember if we can request techs although all the techs I've encountered so far (and I see them all the time) are good and competent and their procedures are consistent. Same-day appointments are usually possible as long as you call early enough in the day, even on weekends (their hours are 9-5). The price has remained competitive as well which I appreciate. I often have a hard time choosing colors because what's in the bottle may not look the same on my nails. I really appreciate that they'd accommodate testing the shades for side-by-side comparison so I can see which one I like best before committing. At my last appointment the tech even did alternate colors, which was fun -- thank you! :)

I came here for years and spent literally thousands, but within the last year or so, the quality just totally dropped. Even when I was going frequently, the quality was inconsistent but had enough positive to keep me coming back, and they have good hours. But now the bad is just too hard to ignore. They don't change gloves, they don't bother to let the water warm up, stopped asking me even what color I wanted or if I liked the shape, sloppy with the edges on polish, too rough on cuticle cutting, uneven shaping, and overbooking. I would always tip $20+ PER technician and was a regular, but it felt like the more I came the shittier the service, like "eh she always comes, she'll be back". eventually got sick of feeling ripped off. My fill took about an hour and a half, and when it was time for my pedicure, I was told my nail tech had a 12:00 PM appointment and was running behind. I was surprised because I had specifically booked time for both services. While I understand that staffing issues, no-shows, and scheduling challenges happen, I don't feel that a client should lose part of their appointment because of circumstances beyond their control. I agreed to reschedule the pedicure, paid for my services, and left. After I was already on my way home, I noticed that one of my nails had not been top coated and looked unfinished. I called the salon to let them know. My nail tech did offer for me to return later that day or come back the next day, which I appreciated. However, I had already made plans and was not in a position to drive back after having just left the salon. My total was $94, and I left a $20 tip because I believed everything had been completed correctly. My disappointment was not about the cost or being charged for a cut-down. It was about leaving without receiving the pedicure I had scheduled and discovering afterward that one of my nails was unfinished. I genuinely liked my nail tech and have enjoyed my previous visits, which is why this experience was so disappointing. Unfortunately, I left feeling rushed, overlooked, and unsatisfied.

I have been visiting this nails salon regularly for the last year and a half now and will likely continue being a loyal customer no matter what part of the island I live. Their prices are reasonable as their pedicures range from $42- $48. They offer a regular pedicure , regular pedicure with callus removal ($42), regular pedicure with jelly ($42) and a deluxe pedicure ($47). I recommend the regular pedicure with jelly because I feel like I'm on a cloud with this treatment! The vibe is hip and very welcome to those who like Korean pop music and other pop music. I highly recommend asking for Vicky. She is so nice and always helpful. I told her one of my nails hurt from possibly an in grown nail and she took care of it right away.
