Called in and was able to make an appointment immediately. They even waited for me even though I was late and reserved one of the spa chairs since I wanted a mani/pedi. I had 2 technicians working simultaneously on my mani/pedi so it was nice that the appointment didn't run as long as it usually does when you get each service done one by one. The place is located inside the hotel on the 3rd floor in the Waikiki Tower. No hotel card needed to get in the elevator. Everyone was super friendly. I even added the paraffin treatment to my pedicure and it was amazing. The massage was relaxing and my skin was super soft and smooth afterwards. The only reason why I docked a star was because I had asked for a short coffin shape for my mani, but she didn't get the shape exactly as the picture I showed her but at least the nail polish coats were on point. Agh so I work in the restaurant industry and in a super busy part of Waikiki. Yuki did my nails and they were amazing! I wanted Japanese gel since my hands are constantly making cocktails and I needed to protect my nails from damage (they were getting a bit thin and fragile with regular polish). I hadn't gotten my nails done in a while, so I was going to wait a month until refilling them. Only three slightly came off, and this is after three and a half weeks! It's a bit expensive, I don't think they do Kama'aina. Regular one color Japanese gel nails + CAT EYE color is $90 (no toxins, last longer, or so it has been recommended to me by many people), but regular one color gel is $70 (which I will be getting from now on because I just need this to protect my nails, not make them look pretty lol). Over priced. Uneducated on dip removal. It should not cost 30$ to remove dip when it easily soaks off in acetone. I had to tell her that . Which quickened the service. Compared to what she was doing. y'all, I'm not lying when I say this is probably the BEST nail salon in Oahu! it is absolutely attentive to detail for nails, and you can request almost anything for them to make and omg, it's amazing. the atmosphere and place is quite small, but have the most amazing staff. I was so so pleased with the entire experience! Came to Waikiki for a friend's wedding, and my nails were not party ready. Thankfully, Nail Salon Ai had an opening for a gel manicure with design the day before the wedding, so I booked it via text, which was so convenient. Their communication is excellent, providing me with videos to help me find their business. I had no trouble finding the place! Everyone there was so kind and welcoming. The space is very intimate and cute, I liked that it felt private and peaceful, and not so crowded and overwhelming. I was so impressed with the teamwork among the three ladies, and how they efficiently made use of their time therefore also my time. Initially, I wasn't booked for a gel pedicure because at the time of scheduling there wasn't an available appointment, but they squeezed in a little more time for me, and simultaneously worked on my mani and pedi, which I am so so grateful for. My head nail artist was attentive to every little detail of my design, and took into consideration all of my requests such as wanting a mermaid vibe, Japanese gel color, etc. She checked in with me throughout the process to see if I wanted to fix anything, but the entire time, I was speechless by how amazing each stroke and design placement was, and how beautiful she made my own natural nails look without extensions (!!), I didn't need to provide any correction or feedback. She even checked my nail curve from the side at the end so it's smooth and natural looking, and not ridged or overfilled. Overall, these are hands down the best mani and pedi I've ever had! When I'm back in O'ahu, I will definitely be getting my nails done here again. read more

Went for a quick pedicure on a Tuesday morning before starting our vacation in Hawaii. It was so easy to make an appointment and they seated me right away even though I was a little early. I absolutely this place! Everyone at the salon is very nice and welcoming. It's always a pleasant experience here. I usually go to different nail salons trying to find somewhere I actually like, but this is the first one I decided to come back to. I am happy to say that I will be coming back time and time again. It is my custom to get my nails done at Waikiki by Japanese nail artists. I highly recommend this place. The nail artists, Yuka and Maki, are very caring, meticulously detailed, and amazing techniques. I brought my own designs to Salon AI and the lady did an amazing job capturing them with tiny brush strokes! To remember my Hawaii trip and bring the memory home I had one hand in camping images and one hand in diving. Love them! Three weeks later they still look very good. No chips or damages anywhere. I would have kept them longer but it's becoming a little difficult to text accurately. I walked in one evening and made an appointment for the morning after. There's a little sink outside the store to wash your hands clean. The lady offered me extra chair to put my stuff on and mapped our design plan on paper indicating the color and image I wanted for each nail since they're my own designs. She did an amazing job capturing the little details. A wonder for relaxing activity I conclude my Hawaii trip! Went here after searching on Google and yelp, thought quality would be worth the extra $$$ however, while she's super nice and friendly her skills are just not there. She didn't help clean my cuticles or deadskins per normal, it took almost 2hours for a normal manicure - partly becoz she layered just way too much the polish (I can literally see from the edge its like 2mm) and the quality of the polish is just so so. I should have asked but decided not too, sitting for too long I was a bit impatient and started to tap a bit to see if it's okay. Of coz it messed jt up... I was apologetic so as she. But her senior was not happy and not that friendly. Anyway for the quality of a normal manicure that charges $50, (I tipped on top of it) I will not recommend this place. read more

Yuka-san took wonderful care of me! I called At the last minute in case any same-day appointments were available and she was able to book me within the hour. I have been looking for a nail salon that took extra care in sanitizing their equipment, and the salon has very visible sterilization equipment and a clean, well ventilated atmosphere. Yuka's work with my pedicure was so perfect that I asked if she had time to squeeze in a quick manicure! What a relaxing massage and relief. Yuka was kind and took excellent care of me. There was a bit of a mix up but it worked out in the end. Pulled up to the driveway to the left of the store front. You have to pull up close to bar for them to open up automatically. There were no spaces available but an attendant came out to open up a spot coned off as I informed of an appt at K1. I walked through the lobby and made a right street side. I was the only client in. I was greeted and asked to pick a color up front. A selection of colors from natural tones to catseye and even organic for $5 more. I sat by the window where water, a phone holder, and candy treats were placed on a tray in front of me. Great comfy chair design where the sink pulls out from underneath the chair. Two ladies immediately got to work to remove my existing gel color with their power tool then buffed it out before apply this gel overlay. It was my first time getting this clear base apparently making your nail bed stronger. When I put my hand into the dry to cure it, it was a bit too hot. She adjusted it and asked me to pull my hand out if that happens again vs putting my hand all the way in. She mentioned my nail is too thin. But after my first coat of color, I didn't have any issues. She did a great job shaping my nail to a square rounded edges. There was no hand massage but not sure if it was an add on or not. However, my pedicure did come with it as I do remember selecting it during my Yelp request. She used a cheese grater to exfoliate (I am starting to think this is only available in Hawaii as other nail salons do the same). She did a thorough job with my cuticles, filing, ensuring there were multiple coats with each curing. I enjoyed my leg foot massage especially since I play so much tennis, 3 hrs the previous day, so it was a nice treat. The place was quiet and relaxing, unlike most salons I go to in Cali where it's always packed with chit chatting or nail techs speaking loudly to ea other that I can fully enjoy myself. The only usual experience was the whole time I was there, there another woman standing behind the woman doing my manicure. This woman just stood there the majority of the time just observing and didn't say anything. Not sure if she was supervising or learning. It was just....odd??? Overall, the experience was nice. Check out was easy. CJ was really helpful. Pay by Credit card or cash (no discount). I ended up paying cc and left a tip on there. If memory serves me correctly, a gel mani gel pedi with removal and organic nail polish and tax was around $157 plus a 20% tip ($31ish). Went ziplining today, the day after, and my nails held up well. Not a scratch. Would definitely come back again.

Taking a leisurely stroll around Maunakea Marketplace (because I had free street parking on a Sunday) my friend and I paused in front of Instyle Hair & Nails because the place didn't look busy and I had some time. There were a couple of staff sitting outside, taking a break, so, I approached slowly and said, "Pedicure?" I was cheerfully greeted and shown to a massage chair. The nice gal, Deb, placed a new plastic liner in the basin and started the warm water. She asked if it was too hot and adjusted the temperature. She started to help me (telling me the difference in price between regular polish for $30 and gel polish which lasts longer for $45), but another customer asked for her, so she switched me off to someone else. It's okay because the new gal (didn't get her name) was very careful and thorough. She took her time and did a good job! I sat for a couple of hours because I haven't paid attention to my feet for months. Haha! (I'm kind of a last minute, busy person and will get moving if I can't stand it anymore.) Anyway, here are my observations: Greeting regular customers is a good sign! The four female workers were cheerful and kind to everyone, especially kupuna! The hair stylist asked (in a nice tone of voice) how a certain customer wanted her hair cut and told her that next time - don't cut your hair yourself because you can't see behind your head (she cut her hair to her scalp!). The hairstylist explained politely to the customer about her unique needs and showed her options on how to style her own hair! That's good service! Another example: A little girl came in with her mom. The staff treated them really well. The mom asked for gel polish for the daughter and the staff said they cannot do it because it might burn her daughter's young skin - plus, her fingers and nails are still growing, so, it's not a good idea to put strong chemicals on the area. Wow! That's being responsible and honest! I think I spent over two hours here because the technician paid attention to my dry cuticles, cracked nail, and other issues. She verified the color of gel polish two times before application. Thank you! I was just going to give four stars, but after hours of hard work, the worker still gave me a mini leg/foot massage and brief hot towel to wipe off excess lotion on my legs! She didn't use pumice stone on me (maybe I didn't need it), but she did repeat the acetone/cotton/foil treatment to the stubborn nails several times - instead of using the electric file technique. I appreciate the gentle approach and will most likely return on a future Sunday!

They did a great job on my daughter's hair first, cutting off all her dead ends and "thinning" out her hair since she has so much of it. They then did the same for me, mine was much shorter though. Since we both have very wavy hair, they took the time to straighten our hair to make sure it was even which took a lot of time for them. I only paid $70 for both of us, considering how much attention they paid to us I do think that is a very fair price. Will be back in a year when I get tired of my hair again lol!

I don't usually mind but she was very short with her responses and not particularly nice or helpful when I asked a few questions regarding the pricing and point system. There is plenty of street parking available and it was easy to find. They're very popular so expect to be a slight wait and it's definitely a more sterile and clinically run salon than a welcoming one.
