I had a couples massage at Moana Lani Spa and overall it was an amazing and unforgettable experience, though there were a few small hiccups along the way. What I enjoyed: The therapists were very professional and respectful of our preferences. They sent a questionnaire ahead of time to understand what we wanted, and when I emailed with some additional requests, they were able to accommodate everything, which I really appreciated. The massage room itself was beautiful, with a big bathtub for a coconut bath after the treatment and its own bathroom. The amenities were great too: snacks, drinks, fruits, a dry sauna, steam sauna, and a waiting lounge overlooking the ocean with lay-down chairs. The lounge wasn't busy at all, and you could easily spend an hour there relaxing. Booking was easy via email and the staff was very responsive. Valet parking is included. What could've been better: The jacuzzi was out of order during our visit, and I wasn't informed ahead of time. I had to ask for a prorated rate, and the person checking us out initially didn't want to give the discount until their manager stepped in. For a big hotel-affiliated spa, I expected better communication and consistency on something like this. The showers also ran out of bath products (either shampoo or body wash), and the locker area was missing some amenities I'd expect at this price point, like makeup remover and skincare beyond generic body lotion. I also had trouble getting a receipt with my name on it initially, though they eventually sent one. One other thing to note: the spa is right above the hotel beach and pool area, so you can hear people rather than just ocean waves or spa music. It didn't bother me too much, but it's something to be aware of if you're expecting total tranquility. Came in on a whim. It Waikiki - so yeah prices are a bit more elevated. No chemical treatment zone - so muuuuch easier on the nose! My Pedi-Curist took extra time to really make my tootsies shine!!!!!! Cost for a 50 min - pedi - 85 Convenient if ya don't wanna have to walk all over or going into narrow crowded areas where all the employees talking to each other in their languages (and we all know they make comments on customers - it just happens way to often). It was me and the Pedi-Christ all by our lonesomes!!! Very relaxing indeed!!!! ‍ One thing I wish the treatment area had are those massaging chairs!!!! You know what I'm talking about!!!! This is my 2nd time at this Spa, but first time leaving a review. My Masseuse Chieu was very attentive and asked me what areas did I need for her to concentrate on. Upon entering the massage room Chieu handed me a wood bowl with sea salt. She said to close my eyes and put my hopes, wishes and dreams into the bowl. Once completed they take all the sea salt collected from the clients throughout the week and the sea salt is then released into the ocean. What a nice calming ritual right? The spa here is very clean and organized. All the staff are so kind. This spa experience has truly been relaxing. Especially when you're laying in the comfortable lounge chairs sipping on Ginger Peach Tea listening to the soothing ocean waves. There is a Jacuzzi and Steam room for your enjoyment. Mahalo to this spa located in the Moana Surfrider. The spa is not very big yet it is still spacious. This review comes after my third visit. Let me start off by saying that the spot is very thought out because I never run into other people in the sauna, steam room, hot tub or lounge. I suppose it's to create a very intimate experience which is very impressive. My most recent massage was with Aaron. Service: 50 minute massage with Ellen and my husband had the same with Tomomi. Ellen was very experienced and really worked out my problem areas (shoulders and hips). It was not a Swedish massage or what I would call a relaxing massage, but more purposeful. At one point, she took my knee out to the side and picked up my foot. Kinda felt like a chicken all akimbo. My hubby enjoyed his massage as well. Ambiance: there are no shared co-ed spaces. To use the hot tub you need to wear a bathing suit (even though it's all women). There is an area with chairs and ottomans in the room for you to wait for your massage. The relaxing room for after your massage with the ocean view only has 3 recliners (and 2 seats). Annoying that people that hadn't had their massage yet were in there blocking those that just had a massage and should be next in the queue. This place is quite small so not sure I would come back. Best massage I've ever had! From the facilities to the staff to the location, this place is incredible. Every time my partner and I visit Waikiki we make it a point to schedule an appointment here. Ivan and Aaron are both excellent, I've worked with Aaron once and Ivan twice but they're both highly skilled at what they do and I'd happily see either again based on their availability. Also the staff goes the extra mile to make your experience worth the admittedly high price tag. During our most recent visit we were excited to use the whirlpool at the spa but unfortunately the men's side was under renovation during our stay, so to make up for it they upgraded us to the ocean front couples massage room with a coconut milk bath free of charge. I surprised my partner with massages here our first full day on the island. We both enjoyed some time in the jacuzzi before our massages... I wish it had been clear that we would not be together in the same jacuzzi. I also wish it had been clear on how to book a couples massage. We did end up in the same room for our massages, but only after clarifying questions and asking for an "upgrade" to be together. Spa day was a huge success! We rented a private room that overlooked the ocean for us to have a massage together. We went with the full body medium pressure 59 minute Hawaian massage. It was very relaxing and well done. After the message we enjoyed a private bath in a soaking tub with coconut oil and sipped champagne. I wish there were extraction done with it but it was good. I would come back and visit. The only thing is will point out is there is a 21% service fee with 16% going to the esthetician. This is not just a spa, it's like a spiritual retreat! I've been here for a signature lomi facial, lomi stone pedicure, and a Dragon's Fire massage. OMG. That Dragon's Fire massage was out of this world, where the massage therapist used more of a holistic approach to relieving tension in certain muscles by relating it to challenges I was facing in my life. We started by doing a beautiful Hawaiian ritual with sand from the ocean and did a prayer and blessing. I cried a couple of times as I felt the heavy emotions leave my tight muscles. I wish so much I could remember her name--I think it was Cerondah!! She was really excellent and took her time with my massage. The facial and pedicure were amazing too, very relaxing experiences which were needed as I needed to unwind after some intense work events were over. This is a really top-notch spa to indulge when you need to. You can bring your bathing suit and soak in the hot tub or steam room for 30 or 60 mins before your treatment (can't remember which). This place is so lovely! It's a little hectic in the lobby and getting to the Westin but once you go upstairs to the spa, it's a different world up there. You'll be so glad you came! read more

Came here for a 50 minute deep tissue massage with a couple of girlfriends and it was so relaxing. We changed into our robes, put on our spa slippers, headed to the relaxation lounge, and sipped on water and hot tea while waiting for our therapists. After our sessions, we met back at in the lounge and snacked on salted nuts and talked story until it was time for us to walk over to the Beach House restaurant for lunch. I really enjoyed my spa services here! Highly recommend coming here if you in are waikiki. Parking: The hotel validates parking for 4 hours. Spa services usually range from 60 to 90 minutes, excluding 30 minutes prior and after using the lounge services. So 4 hours are sufficient for parking! Services: I recommend booking the last hour (~4PM) for spa services. Usually, there's less people before closing and you can enjoy the lounge, jacuzzi, sauna with less people inside! Women and man services are separated. Try to arrive 35 minutes early to enjoy the complimentary lounge service because you will have 30 minutes prior to your appointment and 30 minutes after to enjoy their peaceful and private men's and women's relaxation lounges. My husband and I had the 80 minutes deep tissue message + hot stone services included. A 21% service fee (including gratitude) is included in your bill. We arrived at around 3:30pm for our 4PM appointment and finished our spa at around 5:30PM. We enjoyed the complimentary 60 minutes relaxation lounges + jacuzzi services and left the spa at 6PM when they closed. I really enjoyed their concept at the beginning of the spa where you left all your "concerns" in the Hawaiian salt and just purely enjoy the spa. The lady who did my message was professional too. Had the WORST OVERPRICED massage I have ever had. I get massage regularly at home due to my pain to function. I took my mother in law a couple days ago for her birthday while we are here on vacation. I am in a-lot of pain from traveling and she wanted a relaxing massage. I had deep tissue. It was a complete joke. I even asked the massage therapist how he was credentialed out of curiosity and his experience to create conversation. They have a jacuzzi and steam room sauna overlooking the beach (nice views) but ran out of cool peppermint like towels. You have 30 min before and after to enjoy those things. (Not enough time). Aside from the location being beautiful I would never come back. We are in Hawaii often and I plan to fine another massage place. This place was terrible! read more

The girls had such a great experience at Moana Lani Spa! This is such a cute and inviting spa located at the Moana Surfrider. Valet parking is available and the spa provides validation. Once we checked in, we were taken to the locker rooms to change. Locker rooms were clean and they even provided a little amenity bag with a mask, cotton ball, qtip, etc. After we got changed, we decided to relax in the jacuzzi. The jacuzzi overlooks the ocean so it was so peaceful! Then, it was time for our massage! Each of our massages were great and everyone was fully relaxed!! We then hung out longer in the relaxation room before getting ready to leave. The relaxation room also had cold bottled water and packaged snacks. Overall, we had a great time and appreciated the spa spacing out reservations so it didn't feel too crowded. We will definitely be back again! read more

I hate to write this review, but I have to be honest. I was looking forward to spending our anniversary pampering ourselves with a couples massage at the hotel we got married at. I was second guessing the massage due to the crazy expensive prices, but I thought, since its at the Moana Surfrider, it must be worth it. Shucks, boy was I wrong. First of all, it's a bummer is that you have to pay extra to be in the same room for a couples massage. I learned that you can book to have a suite upgrade for $70 where you can have that in lieu of being in the same room for $45. Might as well spend the extra $25 to have that jacuzzi time right? Next, while waiting to be called to our massage, we have to wait separately in the respective mens and womens lounge. I understand why they have separate lounges, but it was awkward to wait in a room with other women (one was talking loudly on the phone... really?!) when it would've been nice to wait with my hubby and enjoy the view of the beach. If only there was a separate place for couples only. Our massage therapists were both gentleman and they were really friendly. The gentleman I had was very courteous and pleasant, however, he was just too gentle. He would ask how's the pressure every so often, and every time I would respond to go a little harder. My whole massage felt like I was just having oil rubbed on with no pressure. So that was a huge disappointment. Overall, it was so gut-wrenching to spend $600+ on a 80 minute massage that I did not feel was worth it. I've had better massages at the thai massage where a 1 hr couples massage is only $100. Unless you are here with your girlfriends for a special occasion where you can enjoy the amenities in the lounge, I would skip this place and spend it somewhere cheaper. read more

This is a beautiful spa located at the Moana Surfrider. One of the oldest and historic hotels in Waikiki. What sets this spa a part from others in Waikiki is that it is ocean front. You get a beautiful view of Waikiki beach and diamond head from inside the spa. The women's lounge and the jacuzzi area both have amazing views. The crash of the ocean waves and the smell of the beach made this a memorable relaxing experience. The spa has a locker room with amenities to get ready after your spa experience, a changing room, restrooms, walk-in showers, a sauna, steam room, jacuzzi (swim wear required). The women's lounge has fresh fruit, a nut medley, as well as citrus infused water, and various delicious teas. Also in the lounge are lounge chairs and magazines, and yes the wide open windows with the beautiful ocean view. I used a Groupon for a 50-minute customized facial. My Facialist was very friendly, she picked me up a little after my scheduled time but made sure I got the whole 50 minute experience. The facial was good, thou I've had better. With the facial you get a hand or foot massage. I opted for the foot massage, she wore gloves which made her touch cold so it wasn't that enjoyable. After my experience I was given a coupon to return, some water, and chocolate. After my facial I took a nice long shower. There are buzzers in the locker rooms so if you need something such as a razor, or comb you can request one. Things to know: They validate valet parking up to 4 hours or you can self-park at the Princess Kaiulani across the street. If you valet call ahead 20 minutes. I purchased a day pass ($45 Kama'aina rate) to hang out with my girlfriends at Moana Lani Spa. We checked-in and they gave us slippers, robes and a locker for our personal items. A day pass gives you use of the jacuzzi, steam room, sauna and relaxation lounge for the day. The jacuzzi has a nice view of Waikiki beach and we had it all to ourselves most of the day. Once you get tired of jacuzzi or steaming you can shower and relax in the lounge. They have a small refreshment station with iced water, hot or cold tea, apples, oranges and mixed nuts which was a nice treat. My friends wanted to drink champagne and were able to order a few bottles via the spa attend which definitely made the day more special. We had a really great day hanging out and definitely felt refreshed! I'll be back and next time I'm going to tag on a massage treatment. read more

Im gonna take a wild guess and say they are not experts in mani/pedi and should stop offering this service. I got a mani pedi and facial at the spa. After I left, I noticed a lot of unevenness with the mani pedi and felt the price didn't match the level of service I normally receive at nail salons. There was no tub to soak your feet in to really get them clean before removing calluses and trimming back cuticles and the feet and calves massage didn't last but for a few minutes and had zero pressure applied. The salt scrub on my legs didn't remove any of the dry skin so my leg looked crazy flake afterwards. The only plus side was the zero gravity chair which was very comfortable and that we were alone in the room. The nail specialist was a very nice lady, but I just didn't feel the nails were good enough for the price and wish I spent that money elsewhere. As for the deluxe hydra facial, there was no actual lymphatic massage. I've had facial lymphatic massages before and there was literally nothing done there. There was also no shoulder, neck or scalp massage, instead she said she was going to give me a foot massage. I thought maybe this was just in addition to the neck and scalp which I VERY much needed due to a lot of work stress and was specifically looking forward to it. Again, lady was very nice and friendly, but the service and level of experience was not up to par for a 4-5 star hotel that is known for their spa services. I spent over $500 with tip automatically included (had not choice in this) for service I could've gotten for under $200 at home and it would've been 10X better. I'm also a Bonvoy member and Westin is Marriott owned. It's disheartening to see their service lacking like this. I would've came back again 2 weeks later on my way back to Waikiki before I fly back to the mainland. read more

I've been to many spas. This is high on my favorites list. The service is fantastic, the facilities are very clean, you have access to the relaxation room, jacuzzi, and sauna all day! My massage with booked only one day out and it was a true deep massage. Irvine is very aware of how to use is weIght properly to hit the spots deeply without causing pain. The showers have soap, shampoo, and conditioner PLUS eucalyptus shower spray!! Wow, very invigorating. Did I mention the view? Oh yes, there is an ocean view in. The relaxation room and while enjoying the jacuzzi. My only reason for 4 instead of 5 stars is the automatic gratuity added and the heavy bleach in the jacuzzi. (it is secure and you will set the combination for the locker) Now that you have been given a very comfy robe and slippers you will wait in the most spectacular lounging room in Waikiki that overlooks the vibrant blue ocean and feel the nice breeze from the water. The lounging area is very well appointed with super comfortable chairs and sofas where you can zone out the stress of the day and allow yourself to feel worry-free and relaxed. The lounge area offers complimentary water, fruit, nuts and hot tea before and after your treatment. Your technician will come and let you know when it's time for your appointment, so enjoy the gorgeous view while you wait and take this special time to clear your mind. Today I visited the Moana Lani Spa at the Moana Surfrider for a 60-minute deep tissue massage. Sandy, my therapist, was "world class". She's been a therapist for 15 years, with the last five at Moana Lani. She brought her "A" game, including strong pressure, athletic stretching and even the use of a wooden roller. She was highly focused on meeting my needs and ensuring my comfort. I've never had a massage as fantastic as this one today. I'd strongly recommend Sandy when you visit the Moana Lani Spa. read more
