Customer service is amazing, but in my opinion the food is extremely over priced and lacked flavor. I will also admit I did not order what I came to order because I didn't realize the enchiladas didn't have anything inside so I couldn't get chicken or steak inside. They also mentioned they only had pork so I decided to avoid the sopes. If I had to do it again I would have ordered the sopes or tacos. I would have given a 3 or 2 star based on the food I had, but I looked around and the place is very clean and I enjoyed myself watching the nba finals. The server was nice and even covered my change and gave us free sour cream. Which tasted more like a home made light whipped mayo. Order at the counter; if you don't speak Spanish - just order by the numbers on the wall. Big photos adorn the wall-menu, so it is easy for gringoes to select winners! Drink choices are limited to whatever is sitting in the upright cooler; I enjoyed my cold orange Fanta! The black bean soup is thin enough to drink, but tasty enough that you'll want more. Great Tostadas and Empanadas were enjoyed at our table. Adequate seating for the small lunch crowd. What they lack in decor, they make up in food quality. I had been dying to try this place for like 8 months, and recently I finally got the chance to stop by their West Dallas location. I first want to say this is not a Tex-Mex restaurant nor is it your typical authentic Mexican food restaurant or taco spot. Limon's specializes in AUTHENTIC street food from Veracruz. The 2nd thing I want to say is it's going to take me multiple trips and multiple posts to truly showcase this place. It's that good. Literally almost every single thing on their menu is post worthy, and I truly mean that. It might be my new favorite Mexican spot. If you can't take my word for it, Dallas Observer named them one of the 100 must try restaurants of 2020 and one of the top 50 restaurants. Their empanadas are rated #1 on Yelp Dallas! This trip, we kept it pretty simple just so we could get a decent sample. I got the Combinado Jarocho which came with 2 empanadas (we recommend chicken), an egg with salsa verde, picadas jarochas, and refried black beans. I also had to try their Tamales Veracruzanos, which came beautifully wrapped in a banana leaf. Trixie got the Gorditas Veracruzanos with chicken. It was stuffed in what looked like a puffed and deep fried corn tortilla topped with lettuce, tomato, avocado, cheese and sour cream. They also kindly sent out a couple of tacos out for us to try. It's easy to give this place 5 stars! These were the best tacos in oak cliff I've had in a while. Once upon a time oak cliff was known for great tacos and then Cesar's came along and the Kardashian effect happened (where they all start to look alike) and the tacos were just not special anymore. Thank you thank you Limon's!!! These tacos have Handmade Tor-ti-llas!!!!!!! They have other dishes as well and some are dishes from Veracruz. They had menudo over the weekend and I asked, it's Veracruz style so it's different than the traditional menudo and has a very different flavor. I loved the atmosphere just casual you can bring your kids and it's fine. Don't be afraid to try the green enchiladas they are spicy!! Back on a Tuesday for dinner with group of 7. Ordered different selections. Many of us sampled each other's food. I tried the fantastic empanadas (#3 on menu). Light delicate crust with generous portions of tasty meat fillings, and not greasy at all. Yum! My picadillo garnachas (#4 on menu) are also light and nicely topped with white cheese, cabbage, all with a definite homemade flair. There are several choices of other meats. So far, all my choices were very tasty and unique. Limon's black beans are perfectly cooked to the right consistency and are "sabrosos". I will definitely have that black bean side dish again. Being raised Latino; I've tasted many batches of home-cooked black beans and these are definitely properly cooked and seasoned. The empanadas, tamales, and garnachas, can all be ordered by the piece so you can design your own plate. The Veracruz tamal I had tonight was superb in consistency and flavor. The masa was moist, well-seasoned, and the pork flavorful. Just like the two chicken tamales I tried a few evenings ago. Everyone in my group noticed how happy and friendly the staff are. That makes a big difference in any restaurant experience. We were informed that although the main menu on the wall says that mole is available on weekends only, it is now available all week long due to the high demand. I just can't wait to try the mole now. Also note that Limon's closes at 7 PM on Tuesday evenings. They open every Monday through Saturday beginning at 9 AM. Many of us are looking forward to planning a breakfast or Saturday brunch here soon. I was so pleased to be the catalyst who helped my dinner friends experience the delicious dishes here. Just be aware Limón does not have a liquor license, they don't serve tortillas chips with salsa, and no mariachi music here. Bottled water is only a dollar. Mexican Cokes, Fanta, and bottled soft drinks are available from the cold drink case. Come here for the high-quality food and very casual, family atmosphere. This is a small unpretentious place for people who enjoy independent cafes such as Limon's where you can eat delicious Veracruz style food without leaving Oakcliff. read more

Damn good tacos. The homemade tortillas accelerate the flavor by so much. Soft, fluffy, yet sturdy for any type of meat. It really makes a huge difference when having them compared to store bought ones. Their barbacoa has a great gamey flavor. Its almost like Im eating goat. It can be a little wet, to the point where juices are spilling out, but its worth every bite. Their pastor is some of the finest in DFW. They add a good amount of pineapple, yet it never feels too sweet. The pastor has a great texture as well. The fruity body along with the pork taste rings in my mouth like a gong! The tripas took me by surprise. Never have I had tripas taste this good. It was tender, yet still had that distinguishable chew of intestines. Their horchata has huge chunks of coconut. Something I did not expect but it was quite welcomed. I wish it had more cinnamon in its profile but it was a damn good coconut flavor. I did like their Salvadorian tamales, but Im quite biased to my mexican tamales. If you order their tamales, realize they are not mexican style. This is definitely the place for legit Mexican food! I thought I'd never find it. I knew it would be good by the humble look of the restaurant itself. The right amount of spice in those chilaquiles and enchiladas. The tamales are flavorful and moist. The portions are generous. The people are down to earth and fast. If you're looking for Mexican food close to the one your momma makes, do yourself a favor and visit this place.
