These are the best enchiladas in DFW. The best enchiladas I've had in three different Mexican cities, included Mexico City. Although I'm a gringo, my wife is Mexican...needless to say when I say these are the best enchiladas in DFW I am not comparing them to a place like Fuzzy's etc. Have been here 6-8 times in the three months I've lived nearby. We tried it for the first time this morning, and there were some pros and cons. Pro: the food is prepared freshly when you order, including the tortillas. Con: the salsa verde enchiladas come with a big hunk of meat on the outside of it. I may be showing off my gringa side here, but that was a little weird to try and cut into a chunk of meat with a plastic knife, then assemble a bite of enchilada and meat and sauce on my fork. This place is the definition of hole in the wall. The restaurant itself is not the nicest ever but the food was pretty tasty! The service was good our food and everything else we asked for came out pretty quickly. I ordered the cochinita tacos which were delicious. I also had the empanada which I thought could have used more filling. The coconut horchata is really good and has coconut in it. My boyfriend ordered the pozole which was also really good (only served on weekends). My only complaint is that it seemed like the tortillas were a bit greasy. Ok I'm going to level with you and this is no exaggeration, this is the best Mexican food in DFW people!! Wow.... so good, everything was so good. NOTHING WAS LESS THAN ABSOLUTE PERFECTION!! I am extremely opinionated about my food and I only want to find the best and here it is. Also the young man who was at the cash register was super friendly and spoke english well which means he can help you decide on what to eat. I started with free tamales he offered us to try, maybe because of my good cash tip. These were ultra fresh and so soft that even though the meat filling was minimal, it was still amazingly light and fluffy, not dense. Next I ordered a mixture of Garnachas which I never heard of but the taste was familiar but awesome. Also had a mixture of gorditas or something like that, to be honest many of these dishes are similar in nature, just slightly different but they're all 100% amazing. The refried beans were as good as any i've ever eaten. I also got the consomme which was awesome, a bit gamey but I think that's traditional. The only thing I was not totally thrilled with was the salsas, they were good but not as amazing as the food. The green sauce was more like tomatillo instead of fresh jalapeno flavor. UPDATE: The red enchiladas with cheese was ok but I do not recommend, very little cheese filling and sauce is slightly bitter. This is the only dish I have had that was not perfection. I hear they have a coconut horchata that is incredible but it's always sold out when I get there. read more

Excellent place if you are looking for authentic home style mexican food! I love this place and I frequently stop by this place whenever I'm in the oak cliff area. A "hole in the wall " spot that won't catch your eye on the first glance. Located off Davis street, and parking isn't all that readily available so you might have to park somewhere nearby. The tacos are amazing and flavorful and the horchata is so good too. They don't have any fountain drinks but they do have canned/glass sodas and water. The tamales were average size and I believe they have the choice of chicken or pork tamales. Customer service is great and if your having trouble deciding they will give you an honest opinion. Environment is not very noisy at all and the restaurant is well kept and neat. Love this place. read more

Never been here but since I was craving REAL Mexican food I decided to give a try. The place is a small dive but clean. I ordered the shredded beef empanadas which came 4 to plate. Decent size pieces as I was pretty full after 2 but couldn't stop eating them. They had that sopapilla outside crunchy yet soft inside to texture. Now I am suffering from overfilled belly. The salsa is pretty spicy(lip tingling) and not too tomato chunky which I liked. I would say the empanadas were one of best I've had and I've been to a lot of restaurants in Mexico, New Mexico and Texas. Worth a try if on area. read more

Place was nearly empty and she refused to change scrambled eggs to an over medium egg. I mean I understand if scrambled eggs are not part of your menu, but half of your menu has over medium eggs. She was rude and said she was the owner, if she is then I will not come back to this restaurant. I love everything about this place! The food is ridiculously good and is consistent in flavor and quality. I love their combination plate (not sure of the #) that has an empanada, garnacha, gordita and tostada - all made with fresh ingredients that reflect Veracruz cuisine. Several things on their menu are fried, but paired with lean meats and fresh veggies and handmade sauces, they never feel heavy. Their coconut horchata is to die for and has tons of real coconut shreds throughout. It's a smallish place, but you always feel welcome and can usually snag a table with minimal wait. So much Yes!! In the area for a volunteer training and Hubby said I owed him lunch for dragging him into all my dog rescue work. A quick search came up with Limon's, and the fact that every review said "authentic" sealed the deal. The place is a hole in the wall along a strip of stores and shops and looks somewhat sketchy from the outside. Do not let that stop you. It is small, with some booths along the wall and one large table. The menu and signs are all in Spanish (which is always a good sign)-the staff was bilingual, so no issue communicating. Hubby ordered the tacos al pastor and I ordered chicken tostadas-we also asked for their spiciest salsa. When the food arrived...this is what I have been waiting for! So good!! Authentic, tasty, lots of meat, great flavors-we both loved everything about it. I will dream of the green salsa that they brought-spicy...just the right amount of spicy. We live no where near Limon's and that makes me sad. Hubby and I are working on finding other reasons to come by.
