We were searching for a locally owned small business to get some coffee and Espumoso Caffe popped up right in front of us. Mike B. had done some research and heard good things about this coffee shop,so we decided to try it out. I got a dulce leche latte and it was spectacular! Mike B also got a latte and we sat down in their comfortable chairs to chat. They have a beautiful mural on their back wall. They also serve empanadas,flans, açaí bowls, and smoothies. Next time, I would love to try an empanada or the flan. Both of those looked great. Service was great! They were so nice and helpful. Still a solid spot in this area. The arepas and empanadas have the perfect, light & fluffy exteriors, and full flavorful interiors. They do not skimp on fillings. Their coffee is also tasty. I got cold brew this time, and it turned out to be a cinnamon (maybe PS) cold brew. I love cinnamon in my coffee, so no complaints. Other reviews have some complaints about service. The folks working here aren't the "warm, fuzzy" types, but they are respectful and good at what they do. The ambiance is quiet and laid back. Mostly med students, healthcare workers, and patients hanging out - so being loud is not an option here. The place is tiny, but packed with flavor. I usually park for free a few blocks away and walk in. Since they are located in a Baylor medical center, there are lots of paid garages and nearby meters. But, I firmly do not believe in paying for parking. lol! read more

Such a cute coffee shop with the best empanadas. They have other menu items but I opted for the beef and potato empanada and it was so good. I loved the green salsa they have. The place could be so much more. There are five different types of chairs and very little decoration, even though it's a Colombian coffee shop. Colombia is known for vibrant color, energy, and music, but that spirit is missing here. The muffins we ordered were cold (the cashier kindly offered to warm them, but we declined). The coffee was $5, which feels steep, especially given the atmosphere. There was also no clear pick-up area for drinks. When we asked if our coffees were ready, the response was, "Oh, it's probably those two over there," pointing to cups left on a shelf. Meanwhile, customers can see staff working and setting up the café, which makes the place feel unfinished. On top of that, there's no free parking. For a shop likely paying high rent at this location, it would make sense to negotiate at least 30 minutes of free parking for customers. We were told we had 20 free minutes and that was not true. We were charged $3 for parking. Overall, I think the high ratings might be due to the captive audience in the hospital area. Personally, I would not go out of my way to visit again. read more

Located across the street from Baylor Med Center, this is a great breakfast or lunch option during the week. My first visit, I tried the bean and cheese arepa and a beef/Potato empanada. That was a lot of food. My second visit, I went with the beef/potato empanada and a chicken and cheese empanada. This was a more reasonable amount of food for lunch. Both times the beef and potato empanada was stellar, so well seasoned. The other items I tried were also delicious but they just couldn't beat that empanada. The menu has plenty of options for any type of eater. My mom doesn't eat meat or cheese but really enjoyed the vegetarian empanada. read more

Was looking to escape the Dallas summer heat while walking in Bishop Arts and stumbled across this gem. Walked in and was warmly greeted and immediately my eyes hit the empanadas (I actually went in for an iced coffee) and my plans quickly changed. I nixed the coffee idea and settled for water and a beef + potato and chicken + cheese empanada and was not disappointed. Flaky crust, warm center and everything I didn't know I needed. Had this place on my list for a while and it didn't disappoint! What a great quick spot for a Hispanic munch and fantastic coffee drinks. We tried an assortment of their food (sandwich, empanadas, and arepas) and have to say the sandwiches and empanadas battled for the top spot. Their Dulce de Leche coffee was unique and flavorful as well with a great balance of coffee notes and sweetness. The ambiance was unexpected for it being in a medical district - definitely an easy stop and go spot I can see many people enjoying. If I worked in the area I would have a hard time not coming here every time for lunch. The only reason it loses one star for me is because you do have to search around for parking or use the paid parking garage. read more

I come here a lot since I'm at the dental school across the street. It's a great place to get work done! Food: empanadas are really good! I like the beef and potato one with the green sauce. The lattes are great too, my favorite is the one with the honey. Atmosphere: hip but not try hard. Good music selection: chill enough to still get work done. Comfy couch too! I was introduced to this cafe by a coworker. Was pleasantly pleased at first. The gentleman was very punctual and kind. I have come back numerous times when I am in the area and even introduced others. After today I will not be returning. The past couple of times the lady working the register has become so rude and nasty it makes you not want to patronize this business. I ordered street tacos there was absolutely no flavor and a waste of money and my lunchtime. I also witnessed her act the same with other customers as I sat there and waited. Actually cutting the avocado in front of you - type of fresh. The chicken is very juicy and tender. The sauces given with the burrito bowls are a great addition to marry all the seasoning together. The cafe is small but decorated well and the food is ready under 5 minutes. They also have really good lattes. The milk and honey latte is my favorite. A sweeter way to start my morning. Even though I haven't tried them, the empanadas are also a fan favorite. They look crispy and brown with a lot of filling. The next time I'm in I'll definitely have to try one. Loved this place! Tried it for lunch for the first time today. The empanada is not greasy and it has perfect flaky outsides with the cheesiest gooey ham oozing out. Yum! The arepa is surprising with so much flavor! It was the perfect salty and sweet combo with the plantains inside of it. The green "jalapeño salsa" is amazing! My main complaint is I didn't get enough of it. Also not crazy about the location as it's tough to get too with no easy parking but luckily working across at Baylor helps! Was torn between getting a cubano sandwich and an arepa, but then realized I could get a cubano arepa! It was tasty, although pretty small for $6.95, so would recommend if you're already in the area, but not worth going out of your way to get it. Not sure why they drizzled chocolate on the tres leches - it wasn't on the cake in the display, so I wasn't expecting it, especially because tres leches does not typically have chocolate drizzled on. It didn't make it bad, but it took away from the typical flavor profile of tres leches. Trying some of it without the chocolate, the tres leches was just ok. I prefer my tres leches more saturated, but if you don't usually like tres leches due to its propensity toward sogginess, this may be a good option for you - just ask that they hold off on the chocolate. read more

This review is for their espresso drinks. My boyfriend and I fancy ourselves Espresso Connoisseurs and let me tell you...they make a mean latte. We don't really go out to buy lattes in Dallas because A) we have our own espresso maker and buy Italian Beans and B) Dallas has disappointing coffee shops compared to the Bay Area/Seattle. We actually had to go out and grab a latte today because our espresso maker went down (we're waiting for our descaling powder to be delivered). Espumoso did not disappoint. The problem with most American coffee shops is their obsession with overly roasted beans and burning their espresso when they make it. Espumoso uses a lovely espresso bean and their espresso was properly done. My boyfriend had a small single shot, whole milk latte and he said he'd get another one from here. The chairs aren't the most comfortable and the young ladies tend to be perfunctory meaning they get the job done but they certainly don't add value to my experience. There is free wifi. I enjoy being able to come here when I am in or near the hospital. Ok so I haven't had an arepa in a....long damn time!! I recently moved to Texas and this was one of the spots I found. First and foremost, their cafe con leche was BOMB. I dare someone to tell me otherwise. I also ordered one of their arepas, the avocado and beef one. It wasn't the best I've had, but it was delicious and did the job.
