Can't believe I've been in sheepshead for so long and never tried this gem till recently. I am a huge seafood person and liman's has amazing grilled fish. They have a good variety of grilled fish and its cooked so perfectly! Perfectly moist, seasoned and fresh. Honestly everything that I had was amazing there, another must get there is the octopus! I dont think i've ever had a more tender piece of octopus and its a huge portion! Not like when you go out to other restaurants and they give you like one tentacle. Whenever I come I always have to get the octopus. Side note they also give fresh baked bread, SO GOOD! i have to legit control myself not to eat the whole basket. I also love that there's like an outdoor seating. Makes you forget that you're in brookyln with all the traffic, just a nice view and especially during sunset time. The staff is also super nice and helpful. There is also a full bar, so if anyone is interested in drinks, that is there. My only negative about the restaurant is that seating is a bit tight, so people are constantly kind of walking in and out between the seats, so its hard to get through in and out of seats. The atmosphere inside is pretty typical for restaurants in this area, so nothing really worth noting here. It was fine. Except that we were initially seated in a pretty busy area, it was two of us, with a lot of foot traffic. We ordered a lot of food and the waiters seemed hesitant to move us to a bigger table that seated 4. We had to switch tables like twice. There was no way one single serve table was going to hold all of the plates we ordered. It's like they were scared to give up the rest of the seats. But alas, we were able to move to a quieter area that accommodated us and our plates. All I really want to say is that YES, this place absolutely has FRESH FISH! It's one of the most extensive fish menus I've seen to-date, and I did a lot of searching to find this place. I enjoyed the anchovies, the royal durado, the shrimp kebab with lamb (which came with rice and well seasoned veggies). We didn't order dessert because we were stuffed. I was disappointed with the grilled octopus as I thought the pieces would be bigger and more chargrilled, but overall, I would definitely come back here for more fish! Liman is a triumph. My family and I went here for the first to celebrate my dad for Father's Day, and we were blown away. The views were stunning - eating by the water felt like we were transported to a coastal town in New England. The seafood was fresh and high quality. And the service was just fantastic (big shoutout to our head waiter who took such great care of us!). Rumors were true, this Turkish Mediterranean restaurant is absolutely superb. The food is delicious and the service was amazing. The people that work are all generous and welcoming. The decorations are a mix of luxury and traditional. Me and my wife order the ezme and hummus to start accompanying with zucchini patties and cigar boregi. The cigar boregi was so fresh. For the main dish I tried the liman salmon special and my wife had the royal dorado which they fillet right in front of you. The price is reasonable specially for the service. My mom, best friend and her mom called on a busy Sunday night in Emmons Avenue and they had tables available. We were immediately seated and our orders were taken. I'm a pescatarian so the many had so many varieties of seafood. I ended up going with the shrimp kebab with french fries and rice. It was amazing! Their shepherd's salad with feta cheese is also amazing. I definitely recommend it. There was so much food (as you can see in the picture) and I have no complaints. My friend, myself and her little girl were there on time. They were very busy and had us waiting 30 min at first. Then some friends of the manager walked in that spoke his language. He sat them before us sneakily and left us sitting with a little child waiting. When I approached the host about the incident he said 'this is not my fault. It's the managers discretion' . Beautiful spot right on the water.. The cuisine is Turkish with a focus on seafood. We had the smokey eggplant dip, the hummus and their house salad. All went extremely well with their fresh and hot out of the oven sesame bread. The calamari was the best fried calamari I have had. It was almost like chicken fried and it gave way to the softest most tender calamari. I don't know the process which produced these results. One could argue, you almost miss the chew. We ended with fried red mullet. It was a large portion, considering there were 4 whole fish. They certainly know how to fry here. I was also directed to trying one of their house specials, the grilled Branzino. I have heard people say wonderful things about this whole grilled fish. Staff was friendly and professional.. Fresh and tasty. $22 is a tad high considering the small portion. Octopus also fresh and top quality. However the $26 cost is steep considering the small Portion. St. Peter's fish, served fried (lightly) is in my opinion the go to choice here. Ive had it over 10x and it never disappoints. Preparation-the St Peter's fish, cooked to perfection. In Sheepshead Bay, if you look in any direction, you will most likely see a Turkish restaurant. While this place is not the holy grail of Mediterranean cuisine, if you want a good seafood restaurant, this place will do. They do have a nice location with waterfront dining but the view isn't always spectacular; There are old fishing boats in the back and whatever the tide brings in. The staff has almost always been responsive and attentive. And the food comes out pretty fast. I love their fresh salads, the grilled octopus, and their whole grilled fish. The fish selection is pretty standard but has always been fresh. Personally, I like the Branzino. I wasn't particularly impressed with their fried calf liver or their kabobs, but this is a seafood restaurant so I can understand. Its one of the more expensive options around but the freshness of the food and the quality of the service keeps me coming back. Definitely worth checking out. read more

I got the grilled whole St. Peter's fish. It was my first time ordering a whole fish and I'm so happy I did! The skin was crispy and the fish was flavorful and flaky. When walking along the piers of Sheepshead Bay looking for a restaurant of no particular genre, the fishing boats anchored along the waterfront are so suggestive of a seafood dinner, the hunt was on. After six blocks and no seafood restaurant's, we finally came upon Liman, which looked to fit the bill, or so it seemed. When a half moon sailfish is their logo adorning awnings, menu's and matchbooks, one can assume there is a focus on the Sea portion of the food. .. The piped in Turkish music was enjoyable and the obvious hint of Arabian decor from bow to stern stated gave clear signs that an audible was in play.. So "when in Rome", as they say, so I dashed the idea of seafood, even though it was on the menu and even though the restaurant was on the water, with oddly no view. For starters, we went with the Humus, which was really nothing special at all, in fact given the quantity and taste, even at $7.50 it was overpriced. In addition I ordered another appetizer, the Pan Fried Mussels (Midye Tava) which were small in size, deep fried and served on skewers with a dipping garlic sauce. I was not overly impressed with this dish as the deep frying took a lot of flavor from the muscles ad toughened them up something fierce. Final appetizer I let the waiter choose, which was a good call to defer my choices at this point. Borek (not Borat) which is a dough stuffed flute of pan fried feta cheese, which I really enjoyed. Considering they serve complimentary baskets of a flattened and toasted type of Pita bread, I was filling up, so we thought it best to split an entree. The mixed Grill (Karisik Izgara) had a variety of meats, but only two small (for kebab pieces) pieces of each, about seven in total for $29.00...///...Really off base on the quantity to pricing on that dish. I do not fashion myself as someone that compares and contrasts price as it equates to quantity, but see the photo and judge for yourself. Chicken, lam, meat ball and a lamb chop, as in one. The best items we enjoyed that evening was her Strawberry Mohito, the baklava and the Turkish coffee, which was really something I could get used to. That is of course, minus-ing the part when my overturned cup with no run off was a sign of a closed heart as the legond has it. incredibly bad experience visiting the restaurant liman september 20, 2024. in addition to complaints about poorly cooked food and a parody of a controversial cocktail, at prices clearly inflated and similar to high-ranking restaurants in manhattan, we found ourselves in a situation of extortion and deception with tips. I have always remained and remain grateful to the service staff of the establishments where I come to have fun, have a delicious dinner, relax and naturally thank the staff for the atmosphere and their attentive attitude to the clients of their establishment. In my case, in the restaurant liman (brooklyn) I received the most negative moments of being in it. There could be no talk of any pleasure and atmosphere. And the reason for this was elementary deception and extortion. You can not call such a phenomenon hospitality and respect for your visitors and there can be no place for it in a respectable and reputable restaurant business. After all, we come to help their business flourish and survive. And what in return? I would like to hope that the administration of this establishment will take into account the wishes to create an atmosphere in which people will feel happy and not deceived in their expectations. Pros:Servers very attentive, food came out quickly, red sangria is a must have ($50 pitcher totally worth it), Turkish noodle dessert was to die for, calamari out of this world.
