We asked for writing only, and since the birthday theme was dinosaurs, my niece insist on decorating her own cake using her dinosaur figurines. It was so easy to serve, many of our guests were surprised when they realized it wasn't an actual cake. Price of the cake was $116.xx, which I felt was a good deal considering we served 48 pieces. After a visit to Kuakini Hospital this morning, we decided to stop here for breakfast. It was crowded and we had a short wait to secure a counter seat at the bakery. It took awhile to get the attention of an employee. It was very busy. We placed our order and I took the break in time to peruse the bakery side for goodies. Our orders came out quickly. Our coffee and water cups were timely refilled by our sweet server. The ultimate berries & nuts short stack pancakes are GINORMOUS! I took before and after pictures. I couldn't finish it at all. My hubby ordered the garlic fried rice & eggs with spam. He enjoyed it and I tasted it as well. Lots of garlic flavor. A bit too oily for my taste buds. The counters were cleanish. They have really bad service. I sat in there for 10 minutes. Nobody gave me a menu. Old school diners are great. There are several Liliha locations but you can never beat the original location with a Diner counter, food and service. This Liliha location is the best hands down with fresh good tasting food, lower priced than the other locations and friendly ohana service. The great thing about the counter seating is that as people leave many of the patrons are kind enough to move over to create space for larger parties to sit. Another reason why eating with the locals makes visiting Hawaii so great instead of eating where there are lots of tourists. The true locals are welcoming and considerate. I was going to order the fried rice, Portuguese sausage and potato Mac aka carte but the woman helping me let know that ordering the breakfast plate with the potato Mac on the side would cost me a lot less. I ordered a breakfast to go with scrambled eggs and Portuguese sausage with fried rice, it also came with a butter roll and lilikoi jelly. I've tried soo many pastry from Liliha Bakery lately. Everything is soo good and reasonably priced. This is my go to bakery on the island. I wish I took pictures of it but I will definitely be back to buy them again. The new things I've tried, Green tea Croissant. This was soo good. Came here twice with family during the stay. There are more outdoor seatings than indoor. Although we haven't tried everything on the menu, so far I could not find a disappointing dish. Mauros' service left a lot to be desired. He dropped the check before we even finished our entrées. When I mentioned we'd like dessert, he told us we couldn't order it through him -- but when we went to the dessert counter, the staff there said we could've ordered at our table. Liliha is a solid Asian bakery and part diner, and this location is sort of sketch outside and in the area. There was a homeless guy wandering around outside shouting when we visited. Inside, it's pretty spacious and clean, and was actually almost empty on Tuesday evening. I made the mistake of not doing thorough research on what to get here, so I only got some butter rolls, a poi mochi donut, and a coco puff (unrelated to the cereal, other than its hidden chocolate flavor). The butter rolls just tasted like plain bread to me, but it seems my mistake was not getting them grilled and with the jelly. The poi mochi donut was surprisingly solid - I'd definitely want that again, because it was a very subtly sweet chewy donut that had a tasty sugar glaze over it, much like Krispy Kreme glaze. The coco puff tasted like a chocolate pudding-filled cream puff with a dollop of sweet whip/grainy paste on top with a custard-like flavor. It was good and fresh, and sweet enough that I'd only be able to eat one in a sitting. Everything went so well. Second time to O'AHU and second time I went to Lide for the purposes of their Apple turnover. It's the best that I have had. Everything here is good. It's an old school bakery and diner with so much good stuff, you'll have to keep coming back to try everything! The service is good, no complaints there. They have established, like 3 to 4, 5 other locations on Oahu, aside from the original Liliha Bakery, get on Nimitz, Ala Moana, and I think Pearl City and Waikiki if I'm not mistaken. All locations have the bakery side for grab and go, and the dining side. Customer service is always great. Dining interior is always clean, and acceptable. Well, this original location only get bar stool seating and couple tables in the back, like in the kitchen area, which is kind of cool cuz you get to see and watch how clean and sanitary they actually is. And the other locations actually have a dining room, room area. All in all, always a must in Hawaii when can. The best Puffs ever! We visited the location inside the Ala Moana mall and as expected it was crowded. You need a ticket number to get to the counter to place your order but they are really fast. We tried all of their Puffs and the pies amd everything was soo good. The Puffs were soft and melted in your mouth and the cream was creamy without being oversweet. It was okay, but nothing worth going out of my way for. The service from the older Filipino ladies is a bit grumpy. When I ordered the loco moco with fried rice, the server let out a big SIGH and said "so fried rice loco moco." I guess she wanted to clarify that I didn't want an additional plate of fried rice to go along with a regular white rice loco moco. Ok, whatever. We also tried their oxtail soup, which was ok. I saw them heating up most of the components in a microwave right in front of me. 3 big pieces of oxtail, but nothing else. You have to pay extra for noodles. Our tour guide highly recommended this place (though coincidentally we had planned to come here that day anyway) and I can see why! The flavors of everything we ordered were incredible and went together so well. Nothing tasted bland or overpowering. We ordered a clam chowder which tasted pretty standard. Complimentary dinner rolls came warm, were super buttery and soft, and there was a guava syrup/jam (super sweet) in a little container that could be closed, which was awesome since we ended up taking that with these rolls in our leftovers box. The complimentary guava juice was also perfect! Kimchi fried rice was slightly spicy. The scrambled eggs I ordered were completely unseasoned but texture was fluffy with no burnt spots. I chose Portuguese sausage which was very savory and smoky. Same thing for the pork belly (we ordered the smoked pineapple pork belly as another entree). The pork belly wasn't the melt-in-your-mouth kind but more chewy, but the flavor and slightly sweet glaze (maybe pineapple to match the grilled pineapple slices?) were amazing. Garlic fried rice (substituted) was also pretty good, as well as the very creamy mac salad (from the mayo).
