Dutch Baby
Blanca M.

Get there early before the rush! Everyone in there is nice and attentive. They refilled our coffee often and made a fresh pot while we were there. Classic breakfast restaurant decor with wood tables, chairs, and paneling. We ordered a Loco Moco, Potato Omelette, and a Dutch Baby. Loco Moco came with a homemade patty, but the gravy tasted simple (like instant kind). Potato omelette has hash browns in it (I was hoping for diced potatoes, but still good). And came with this sour cream sauce, it really tasted like a white gravy - super good! Never had a Dutch Baby before, they tell you that they take 30 minutes to cook. I think ours was a little under that time because the crowd wasn't in there yet. Chewy, layered, with butter, powdered sugar, and lemon slices. Gotta add the lemon, idk why, but it really cut sweetness.

Great service but weak dutch baby. Maybe the batter or pan was too cold? Or maybe too much batter for the pan? They said it would take a 20-25 minutes to make these, but the first and second time they made it took way less. Probably shouldn't rush these things.

love this place . best breakfast in oahu . can't beat prices too. must order the dutch baby (takes 45min) but it's worth the wait . i travel a lot and this place stands out as a diamond in the ruff. you will not be disappointed

Weekday Holiday Wait is Long as expected, be sure to put your name down and hang around the front door to hear your party' name called. We got a great parking spot right outside the door se we could sit in the car with windows down and hear the names being called. Our host sat us down but our waiter was very Overwhelmed. Took 15min for our waiter to bring waters and coffee, 15min more to order, and 30min Moore to get food. Kitchen was very backed up, we could tell by all the other tables waiting on their food so we were (kind of) understanding- it just sucked. Coffee/water Refills were few and we had to flag someone down each time. It could help if the host would stagger on sitting tables to help with timing for waiters/kitchen. Food was okay, we got meat and eggs- nothing super special.

Came here on a Thursday morning and it was quite busy! This place is casual and has some history. All the staff were friendly. It gives out the family business linda vibe. It's a pancake house so how can I not try the pancakes?! I got the broccoli cheese omelette and it comes with 3 pieces of pancakes. The pancakes were so soft and tasted great with butter and syrup. The omelette was not bad as well. And they were so generous with the portion! I was only able to finish half of it and had to take the rest home. I ordered coffee and they do free refills. Love it! Overall really good quality and amount of food for the price you pay. And plenty of parking outside. Will definitely come back!

Old-timey decor

Amazing customer service from the moment we stepped in, these ladies treat every customer like a regular. The decor is very old-timey, dark and cozy, reminiscent of old European restaurants of the past. We ordered a loco moco and a Dutch baby pancake. The loco moco was perfectly seasoned, not too salty like most places. It was our first time trying a Dutch baby, it was perfectly crispy around the edges and the texture of the inside reminded us of butter mochi. 2 breakfast entrees came out to under $40 which is pretty reasonable in this crazy economy. Will definitely be back again!

Food is still delicious, but it took really long to arrive at the table. There were only a few other diners in the restaurant at 745am. Service was also behind, however, friendly. We waited quite a while to get take out boxes once we were finished with our meal - that of which we needed to flag someone down for since our server never came back for over 20-30 mins. Sort of bummed out because usually it's not that delayed. Ambiance is old school and nostalgic. The restrooms tho -- gross. After years of not eating here, the bathroom is still extremely off putting and smells like sewage. Pretty disgusting if you stop in before your meal. I wish they would do something about that! :(

Corned beef hash and eggs with rice. Can't go wrong with this combo.

Came here for breakfast on a weekday morning. No wait no line. The food was yummy like usual, and didn't disappoint. Left with a full stomach. Casual ambiance. Not noisy, and not awkwardly quiet. Perfect for having a meal. Will be back again!

Coconut Pancakes

My Fiance and recently went to check out the original pancake house and I was left with some mix feelings. The staff were very friendly, the food was okay but took a while to come out, and the restaurant was very clean. Starting off with the food, I ordered the special of the day which was luncheon meat with eggs and rice and my fiance got the Portuguese rice and eggs, and we both shared the coconut pancakes. The luncheon meat was two slices that were very thinly cut, to the point where you could hardly get any flavor from them, I was definitely thinking I should have just ordered the spam and eggs instead. My fiance said she enjoyed her Portuguese sausage and eggs though. The coconut pancakes were very good and the haupia icing was the best! I definitely want to try the other pancakes they have there too. The staff were very nice and you could tell they kept the restaurant very clean, we didn't wait long to be seated either. We ordered pretty quickly but our food took a little over 30 minutes to come out, we looked around and noticed that other people who had gotten there before us were still waiting too. We also barely saw our server the entire time and had to ask other staff for help when we needed something. Over all I don't think the Original Pancake house is a bad place, I really wanna come back and try the other dishes. Hopefully the wait times aren't too bad though when we come back. If I had to recommend it to other people to try I'd definitely say to come through, maybe we just went on an off day! Until next time!

I am rating The Original Pancake House 5 stars because it's a classic breakfast place consistently serving scrumptious breakfast options as long as I can remember. It's very casual, older style vibe, but that is its charm. They have a wider selection of pancakes (Dutch pancakes, 49er flapjacks, French pancakes) you typically won't find at other breakfast places. Note: Dutch pancakes take 20-30 minutes to make, but I heard it's scrumptious!!! For my breakfast, I went with sweet bread French toast combo. Everything was great including the service! Be prepared to wait to be seated as this place can be very busy especially on the weekends. Limited hours from early morning until early afternoon. It's in a strip mall type of complex with ample free parking.

Corn Corned Beef Hash

The service was good and we didn't have to wait too long going here for breakfast. The corned beef hash met my craving but did leave me looking around and wishing that I ordered something else. The banana pancakes were tasty but would kinda fall apart when picking them up. Overall I enjoyed my breakfast but for the price I would go somewhere else. I would give the steak and eggs a try because when another table ordered that I was definitely jealous.

Poi Pancakes with lilikoi butter...I had to try this on my next visit. Takeaway for 5 pieces is $16.75. A walk-in order, as I don't know of a mobile option to place an order. Excellent with the lilikoi butter, the real star. Not real hungry, so I really had to surrender about halfway thru...3 pc plate will satiate my hunger on most days.

We haven't been there for a while and decided to go because it was a week day and the weekends are normally very busy with lines waiting to get a table. This time we walked right in and were seated, it was pretty empty with only a few tables being occupied. I ordered the Canadian bacon with scrambled eggs and pancakes it seem that the pancakes were not as fluffy as before it was thin and watch out for the maple syrup it is not thick if pours out like water, they must be using an imitation maple syrup. My wife had the bacon and eggs was okay with pancakes the pancakes was not like before. The coffee and service were very good, but the breakfast was a disappointment.

Corned beef hash & eggs w/3 pancakes (hash nice and crispy outside, not as dark as picture shows) was good

They are there every Saturday and are the first vendor on the left as you walk in the main entrance. I had a great experience. Top notch customer service. The owner is very personable and friendly. They have a small menu of only 7 food items compared to their main location in Chinatown with a larger variety menu. This menu seems to be their popular items and according to the owner, the pork belly is their best seller. Even with just these items, I still had a hard time deciding what I wanted because it all looked so good. They not only have the menu posted but a picture of each menu item. I like when businesses do that, you know what you're getting. I opted for the Double Fried Chicken. It comes with 2 pieces of boneless chicken thighs (about 3 oz each), 2 scoops of white rice, cole slaw (about 1/2 cup) & a mild sauce. The chicken was wonderful! It was lightly breaded, not over cooked but fried just right to give the chicken a good crispiness. The thigh meat was still moist and not dry from over frying. Seasoning was just right, not overly seasoned, yet still tasty. Good 'ole fried chicken as fried chicken should be. The only problem I had with the chicken was there wasn't enough. Wish there were 3 pieces. The cole slaw was surprisingly good and I'm not a big fan of cole slaw. This one I liked. It was well seasoned, not tangy, and a lite creaminess with good crunch. The sauce that came with the chicken was also good. It tasted like ketchup with a kick. Keep in mind this is not fast food and usually everything is cooked to order with food trucks. The owner did advise me the wait would be 10 - 15 minutes. I was ok with that because then I knew I was definitely getting it hot and fresh. Overall, the food was great matched with first-rate customer service. It's a place worth a return visit. Support local!

She agreed and was presented with the hair free 8.50 version. It is common practice to not only provide the option of replacing the product for the customer but to remove the charge for the hair laced food from the bill.
