Comparison of size of ham (so tiny) to other omlette ingredients
    Kanani C.

Can't go wrong with omlettes and pancakes! Love that I can order online and then swing by and pick up. However, i do wish there were a few stalls reserved for pick up because the lot is always packed. Did the pancake recipe change? They taste even better than I remember! Yummy! I always order the Koa omlette. Wish they incorporated the omlette ingredients into the egg but that's ok. (Their omlette is the folded style) This time I also tried the ham omlette. The reason for the 4 stars is because the ham was so tiny that it was really hard to actually eat. Not sure why all the other omlette ingredients were cut big/similar size, while the ham was tiny.

Came here strictly because of the name (our dog who recently passed was named Koa!) but the food was definitely solid! It seems like a pretty typical local breakfast joint, with multiple locations. This one has a parking lot in back too which is nice since the street parking is limited in Kaimuki. The food is simple but hearty, served on paper plates because they know their food is delicious enough to bring people back! Not to mention food comes out quickly so it's a nice sit down choice if you've got antsy kids. -Koa Moco: this was my favorite dish! It's a loco moco with the hamburger patty and corned beef. It's huge so it's a good one to share. The eggs were cooked perfectly and there was plenty of gravy. - Guava Lava Mochi Waffle: had high hopes for this one, I liked the guava sauce but the waffle itself was soggy and didn't seem chewy like mochi batter. I wish it had some crunch on the outside like butter mochi! - Banana Pancakes: couldn't come here without getting pancakes! They were good but not as much banana flavor as I'd like, you can probably skip on these. - Lite Bite: Only $7.50 and it was the perfect serving for our two toddlers to share! Nothing fancy here but just some good solid Hawaiian breakfast at an affordable price!

I forgot to take my food pictures,. I enjoyed the guava, lava mochi waffle! It was so good, I would have like more guava sauce but it was good. This is a little diner with some good food. As you come in you order then find a table. They bring the food you ordered to you. Fresh squeezed OJ was so good!!

They have several locations on the island. We visited the Kaimuki neighborhood breakfast and brunch restaurant. Their menu is extensive with lots of delicious choices that come on paper plates and plastic utensils. Welcoming service tops off our experience. The restaurant is no frills, clean and bright. Bring a big appetite!

You'll walk out smelling like food and oil but your stomach will be full and satisfied. Walked in and immediately ordered and got a table. Waited less than 10 minutes for my order. The service was quick. The food was delicious. I was so hungry I forgot to take a picture before digging in. The Vinha D'alhos Burrito is one of my favorites. If you like vinegar, you have to try this. The vinegar is not too overwhelming. It comes with salad and sour cream on the side. The burrito stays intact while eating it which is important. There's a paid parking lot or street parking. Cute shops to look at around the area if you're gonna look around after.

It took us too long to discover this place! The fast service, affordable prices and food quality is perfect for us. It has a classic feel to it and everything we've gotten has been so yummy. I recommend getting a few things and splitting, the portions are generous!

Best Hawaiian breakfast spot everrrr! The service is friendly and local, and the place is small, cozy, and a true hidden gem. I'll be back again and again ordering the same thing every time: over-easy eggs, fried rice (comes with Spam cubes), Portuguese sausage (total flavor bomb), and a side of veggies (stir fried in tasty fat)

Today I got to try the Spam, Eggs & Rice Plate with coffee and found it to be compatible to the Zippy's, good. Also, the service was very friendly and helpful.

I found a spot right in kaimuki near my doggies grooming! It's spacious and clean and they offer dine in service as well as take out. A nice selection in menu choices, but always enjoy the lite breakfast and can't go wrong for the price. Under $10 for 2 hotcakes, 3 bacon and 1 egg! What a deal! Food is good (except my hotcake was a little cold today) and service is great! Will be back!

I love having breakfast here and there's so many options! It's open seating so You can order at the counter to get a number then sit anywhere you like and put the number on the holders. OR you can sit down and order and pay from the QR code on each table. The staff is always friendly and they bring you your food when it's ready. There are condiments on the table to use and foil in the front of you want to take it home. I recommend the fresh orange juice!

Solid place for breakfast with large portion sizes. I got the entree plate with macadamia nut pancakes, meat and eggs, which were more than filling and pretty affordable for Honolulu.

What we ordered tag says over easy got scrambled.

Sad to write this review because I love Koa Pancake house in Waipahu and Aiea! Kaimuki is a definite NO GO- I been to this location a few times now and each visit there was an issue with my order. I can't understand why when they seem to have a team checking the food and putting it in the bag. How can you think it's ok to serve burnt food and not check if the order is right?? This will be my LAST visit because it ain't cheap to waste food. Potatoes and meat was no doubt burnt and tasted so gross totally not edible. I order 1egg Fried Rice Egg over easy as you can see in the order tag and got scrambled. The picture of my plate is almost gone because fried rice was good. But as we sat here and talked about all our experiences here - I got more disappointed and upset- because it's food and money WASTED! However have to shout out to a nice local older lady that is sweet that works there. She adds a smile to your day! She deserved a star

This is a hole in the wall off 12th street. My husband and I happened to come across it when we tried to go to another breakfast down the street. We were pleasantly surprised. Not a fancy, location yet the service is great. You order and pay at the counter then find your seat. They give a number for your order and they bring the food out to you. The cashiers taking your order are super sweet and very efficient! All the people that work there are helpful. I've been there 2 times in the last 5 weeks and both times the service was great! The pancakes are delicious! Light, fluffy and full of flavor! I've ordered their mushroom omelette, my husband has order the loco mocos and corn beef hash and the servings are generous. We share 1 order of pancakes since they are so big and we still have left overs. Food is great and reasonable considering their generous servings.

I tried the Harmless Hugo, which had a refreshing herbal/floral vibe. Their Kaimuki Cruiser was very tart and citrusy. The corned beef and kalo hash was tasty but a bit salty. Eggs were done perfectly and the kim chee was a nice twist. The ma po tofu on biscuits was surprising and good. East meets West here, with a slightly spicy ma po tofu made with crimini mushrooms, which had a pleasant meatiness. The biscuits were excellent , but the watercress salad could have had more contrasting flavor. Since the dish was already soy-forward, maybe a citrus vinaigrette on the watercress might have provided a nice contrast. Our server was very good and explained all the dishes and specials. Ambiance is old-school Kaimuki with the Yamaha motorcycle at the front door to greet you.

I really like the premise of this family-friendly restaurant, which spotlights fresh, local ingredients, at a mid-range price point. et al. has a lot of good things going for it, The good: 1. Well-lighted, warm-hued interior with a nice, contemporary vibe. The high ceilings, clean lines, and rounded storage vaults reminded me of Italy. Cute "local" Hawai`i touches: palaka-inspired banquette upholstery, Hawaiian-quilt design screening on the tiled floor. -More veggie-forward than a lot of places: always good to find places that don't mask their greens with heavy sauces and treat vegetable preparation with respect. Ovo-lacto vegetarians will not starve at this place. 2. Cheerful, friendly, attentive, and efficient service. Food came out quicky. Cold things were cold; hot things hot. Water was replenished frequently. 3. Overall, we enjoyed the food! It reminded me a little of the old Mariposa at Neiman Marcus Ala Moana, in terms of menu. I appreciated the simple, clean, bright flavors that highlighted the fresh, local ingredients - no heavy-handed demi-glaces or sauces detracting from dishes. While not exceptional or innovative, et al.'s middle-of-the-road, easygoing, familiar, "safe" flavors have broad appeal, making this restaurant a smart bet for parties with non-adventurous diners. I had the catch of the day: my opah came with an addictive, zesty mojo sauce (like a spicy chimichurri, bright with garlic, cilantro, and lime), Ho tomatoes, eggplant, and garlic rice: a winner! My fellow diner had the Kahuku Golden Tomato Malfaldine: tasty, though a bit one-note, but on the other hand, they had perfectly cooked pasta and crookneck squash. 4. While we didn't take advantage of this, the restaurant shows sensitivity to those with dietary needs/preferences. It openly states on its menu that they're willing to modify menu items, making things vegan, gluten-free, dairy free, etc. 5. Easy-peasy online reservation via Open Table. And areas for improvement: 1. Garlic Bread: can't ask for a better foundational base than Chris Sy's Breadshop City loaf: first-rate crusty bread; there was robust garlic flavor, and fresh chives to further amplify savoriness. Unfortunately, my dining partner and I both thought it was over-buttered (couldn't really discern the miso in the miso butter) and overly salty from the cheese. That being said, I'm certain there would be diners that might've thought the seasoning and buttering was perfect: this may be a matter of taste. But $6 for a halved slice of bread? Really?! Ouch. 2. Menu labeling issues: -Sumida Farms Watercress Salad: despite the name, the salad had barely any watercress and mostly kale. Not lacinato kale (Italian kale) either, as advertised on the description, but curly kale. If et al. listed this menu item as kale salad with watercress and didn't specify the type of kale (or hedged by saying "seasonal kale"), it would've been fine. Fortunately, we both like kale, and this was a delicious salad that was an absolute pleasure to eat, deftly dressed with housemade Green Goddess dressing, as good as it comes, fresh kale, watercress sprigs, watermelon radish slices, diced Asian pear, and Marcona almonds: savory, sweet, crunchy. The misleading advertising is problematic. -You should let diners know via the menu description if an item is spicy. The mojo sauce on the fish was dynamite, but I'm a spice-addict, and I'd rank the heat level as medium, maybe medium-hot for most people. Diners with no/low tolerance for chiles should be warned ahead of time. 3. Might want to clean the banquette upholstery: some visible stainage. With a few refinements, I could see et al. becoming a go-to East Honolulu destination for date night, or lunch out with the girls, or a nice but not break-the-bank special dinner out with the family.
