I was pretty disappointed on my last trip here. I have been dining at Kia pancake house for years and the food was mediocre the staff was nice and friendly. And our food came out quickly. I just was not wowed. I had the Mahi Mahi Benedict and my friend had The mochi Butter mochi waffles with a side order of bacon. The waffles were the best things we ordered besides the bacon. The Mahi Benedict was not great. I hope they were just having an off day will swing by and give them another try. It's huge so it's a good one to share. The eggs were cooked perfectly and there was plenty of gravy. - Guava Lava Mochi Waffle: had high hopes for this one, I liked the guava sauce but the waffle itself was soggy and didn't seem chewy like mochi batter. The service was quick. The food was delicious. I was so hungry I forgot to take a picture before digging in. The Vinha D'alhos Burrito is one of my favorites. I found a spot right in kaimuki near my doggies grooming! It's spacious and clean and they offer dine in service as well as take out. Sad to write this review because I love Koa Pancake house in Waipahu and Aiea! Kaimuki is a definite NO GO- I been to this location a few times now and each visit there was an issue with my order. I can't understand why when they seem to have a team checking the food and putting it in the bag. How can you think it's ok to serve burnt food and not check if the order is right?? This will be my LAST visit because it ain't cheap to waste food. Potatoes and meat was no doubt burnt and tasted so gross totally not edible. I order 1egg Fried Rice Egg over easy as you can see in the order tag and got scrambled. The picture of my plate is almost gone because fried rice was good. Not a fancy, location yet the service is great. You order and pay at the counter then find your seat. They give a number for your order and they bring the food out to you. The cashiers taking your order are super sweet and very efficient! All the people that work there are helpful. I've been there 2 times in the last 5 weeks and both times the service was great! If you want to take out on a Sunday, online order cause it gets so busy! There's a mix of people that go in locals, tourists, people that live here but aren't from here, etc. That being said, I wish the coffee refill station and take out materials etc are not near the pick up counter. There's a lot of entitled people yelling "excuse me! I need foil!" (Like honestly chill it's koa pancake house lmao) Or people just trying to pick up their coffee separate from picking up their food. It creates for unnecessary foot traffic. Also, maybe having a designated person checking in for people's pick up order and texting when order is ready for pick up? That way people can leave and come back and not camp out near the waiting area waiting for their order to be called. I waited quite a bit and when I got home, my order was wrong. Wah! 3 stars cause I think their processes can be improved. I think they were also short staffed. Also the parking lot is a war zone too. I'm fine with ordering at the counter, I was just surprised by the paper products. Service was quick and efficient. The place was clean. I ordered the guava mochi waffle (which was on special) with a side of portuguese sausage, and helped myself to water in a paper cup. The guava mochi waffle was good, guava attributed to the hot pink sauce that was poured over the waffle. I liked the chewy consistency of the waffle from the mochi and could only finish half the waffle which was topped with whipped cream. Maybe next time I'll go for one of their omelettes or try their loco moco. read more
