I ordered from Li'l Nonna's on DoorDash and was really impressed with the pizza! My friend and I got the garlic knots, a pizza, and some ranch on the side. For the pizza, we got a half and half, so one half was the veg out and the other was the supreme. The Supreme side was pretty simple with veggies and tempeh, but I was in love with the veg out. I loved the artichoke hearts with the vegan cheese. I will say though, the pizza was very very heavy for me, I was done after one slice. I was really disappointed with the garlic knots though. The knots weren't completely baked through and it was obvious it wasn't baked with the garlic. The garlic was just thrown on top. It had the typical jarred garlic taste which was very acidic and not pleasant. Once I got them, I threw them in the air fryer for a few minutes but I wasn't wowed by the taste at all. Just seemed pretty doughy and not flavorful. The ranch was really good, and if you plan on buying a pizza then definitely worth getting. read more

This is a vegan pizza food truck at Progress Cafe. On a Saturday night, it was a bit quiet, but that meant no wait. There is a lot of outdoor seating and a few tables indoor at the cafe. I got the Sicilian slice and you get up to 3 toppings. I chose the beetaroni, seitan sausage and smoked tempeh. I like seitan, so wasn't surprised that was my favorite. They were all nicely spiced and flavorful. It was the first time I have had thin sliced beet as pepperoni and it was great. The vegan mozzarella is like the real thing. The only pie I haven't had was the VBR and my close friend wanted to go with whatever I wanted...so I ordered the VBR with almond ricotta and THE RICOTTA IS A MUST! Yes, it's $3 but totally worth it. We love Big Nonna's and we're expecting Lil Nonnas would be just as good. The pizza was cold and the cheese not all the way melted. The garlic knots were severely undercooked, to the point where the dough was still stretchy in the middle. We had to put them back in the oven for 10 minutes. Pizza came out piping hot with a heavy helping of cheese that melts PERFECTLY and has such a delicious flavor and texture--not too nutty or thick like many plant-based cheeses. While I haven't had cow cheese in years, you could've convinced me this was the real deal. The crust is also perfectly chewy with a great bite--and perfect for dipping in the ranch sauce. There are picnic benches tables right next to the food truck. Parking is a bit rough depending on the time of day. There are lots of spots but they can fill up at dinner on a weekend. The food itself is ok. It kind of fell flat for me. The garlic knots were just bread and the sauce had a slight spice kick bit not a flavor kick, kind of like it was just watered down tomatoes with red pepper. It didn't taste like anything special. The pizza was ok too, slightly more flavor but not by much. None of the food was bland bland but it was lacking in something. I also gave them my number to get texted when my order was ready and they must've input it wrong because I waited a half hour before asking about my food and it had been ready for a while but I didn't get a text. I love a good Sicilian slice, so I finally made it over to Li'l Nonna's last night to give it a try. It took a bit longer than expected for them to make me a slice... he said 3-4 minutes and it took 10. No big deal, but curious why it was that long. Finally got my slice and almost didn't eat it right away cuz it was so hot. But I bit into it to find the perfect combination of a crispy crust outside and a softer inside. The sauce was a bit sweeter than I was hoping for but it was tasty. My biggest complaint was that there was a lack of cheese on my slice, and of course I can't get it with pepperoni here. I'll have to try their beeteroni at some point. Li'l Nonna's is one of Austin's few fully vegan pizza spots. For happy hour, you can get 2 Sicilian style slices at $7 total + 50¢ for each topping. I wanted to try two of their popular flavors, so I got 3 toppings each which put my total at $10 for my meal. What I got was: - Veg Out: spinach, shallot, and artichoke - Meat Out: seitan sausage, smoky tempeh, and beeteroni For being vegan, they did a good job with the flavors. I liked the texture here with a crunchy bottom and doughy soft center. My main critique here is the amount of cheese: I liked the flavor, but there wasn't much of it, so I couldn't really taste it. Here the flavor of the slices have a stronger emphasis on the tomato sauce, which if you prefer your pizzas more light and more refreshing than this would be great for you! I ordered the gluten-free Piña Jalapeño: Pineapple, pickled jalapeños, roasted garlic (organic tomato sauce, and housemade vegan mozzarella). The pizza was just okay. I found it could have been cooked longer and super garlicky. We also ordered the crispy Brussel sprouts listed: Balsamic, shallots, garlic, capers, crushed red pepper, golden raisins. I liked them a lot as they were loaded with flavor and the golden raisins surprisingly paired well with them. I had higher hopes for Lil Nonna's regarding the overall taste of their pizza.
