I had high hopes with this food truck because they offer New York style pizza. I was sadly disappointed in the inconsistency and greasy crust. The middle was so thin that there were holes in it. The cook was sweating profusely and wiping his head with his hands while preparing pizzas. I ordered the kitchen sink and wasn't happy with the sparse toppings and soggy crust. I'm not gonna lie! Bomb Pizza after a night of scootering and bar hopping on Rainey Street!!! Very tasty! Of course, we ditched the scooters and walked to our hotel. I would totally recommend. This truck was at an event. I had the following issues - 1. No menu or pics. Could not determine if they sold by the slice, small individual pies, and style of pizza until I saw someone else get their order. This also means no prices until you have placed your order. This leads to #2. 2. $5 per slice. It's at an outdoor event so I would expect inflated prices. But still a shock since you can't adjust expectations due to lack of menu. 3. Extremely slow moving line. I was 6th in line and it took 30 mins before I received my 2 cheese slices. I cannot understand why this moved so extremely slow. 4. Pizza was mediocre. Their were little to no sauce and the crust was too hard and dry. The cheese on it was not bad through. It certainly was not the worst slice I have had in Austin but it's not top tier either. Btw, all the other carts had menus and prices listed and their lines moved much faster so this was just unique to Stony's Pizza. So there are lots of things these people can do to optimize their operations to provide a better and more pleasant experience. read more

They accept mobile orders an hour ahead and still can't get the food out in time, then they proceed to have an attitude with the customer who already paid for their food. This was my first time trying Stony's Pizza. I love pizza so I was excited to try the big slices when the food truck visited my apartment yesterday. Customer service was ok. I was greeted with a what's up. Staff were wearing mask. Each slice of pizza was $4.50. I ordered three slices. I was expecting for my three slices to be put in a small box, but they gave me the gigantic box. The person that took my order gave me the slices and asked for payment. He told me how much my total was after I asked him for the total. I didn't get a receipt or napkins. The pizza is too greasy for my liking. While attending the Circle C Food Trailer Night decided to try this pizza. There was a long line full of moms to order where I probably bet their kids chose pizza over the other food trailers. I finally was the next person and ordered two slices of pepperoni. Pay using credit card was very easy. Not long our pizza was ready to pick up and was huge pieces. I've eaten at Stony's 290 before and loved their pizza AND the pasta dishes. But this evening they showed their true customer service colors! We came in and ordered some food to eat in (not to go), and then presented them with some payment weirdness -- vouchers that were given to us to make up for a 10-hour (!) layover/delay at JFK airport. Well, the vouchers didn't work (after a lot of trying), so we just paid and sat down. The salad came, but no pizza -- and we watched at least a dozen go out the door. Hmmmm. I went up to ask if our order had been lost in all the payment confusion. Turned out it was sitting in a to-go box waiting for pickup. Manager was very apologetic, and said if it was not still hot enough, he'd make us a fresh one. It was great, though -- still as hot as if we had gotten it takeout. We're munching away happily when he brings us free "refills" of our adult beverages, just to make it up to us. They do things right, and the food is amazing! Y'all should give them a try sometime. Let's be honest. If it's 2 AM pizza is subsidence...just something to eat which could be anything. But in Austin, Pizza has levels and at the very bottom it's either good or bad. And this place is definitely crappy, you could get a better pizza heating up a Tombstone frozen pizza in your oven. Now at four dollars a slice, you're definitely getting what you pay for. It's not good, but it's not bad either. It's really greasy I think everyone can agree on which means they use really cheap ingredients. And for the Rainey Street crowd at 2 AM maybe that's OK but on a normal everyday not 2am crowd aka the rest of Austin...it equals a crappy slice of pizza. The Stony's Pizza truck parks outside my office about once a week, and I've eaten there only twice. The first time, there was 7 people ahead of me in line. For some reason, it took nearly 30 minutes standing in this line in the hot Texas sun before I was able to order my slice of pizza. I was a bit puzzled as to why it took that long, because after all, it's not like they're baking the pizza inside the truck - it's already made! But whatever... A few weeks later I noticed the truck outside and was feeling a bit peckish, and thinking that my first time of standing in that line for half an hour was only a fluke of some sort I figured I give it another go. This time, there was exactly 12 people ahead of me in line, and no different from the last experience, the line was moving slower than molasses. This time, I paid attention to what was happening inside the truck. There are two people inside this truck - a dude and a chick - and from what I could tell, the woman is doing all of the work. She takes the order, she obtains the pizza slices from out of view, and then she returns to take the payment. Meanwhile, the man inside the truck just mills around and does... nothing? Never saw him help out once with anything. Why can't one of them take the order and money while the other prepares the pizza slices? It would be so much faster!!! This isn't rocket science, people! I waited for the last time in this line - it took exactly 37 minutes with only a dozen people ahead of me to obtain a freaking slice of pizza. Never again, Stony. Never again. I really love getting Stony's pizza after a night out on Rainey. I love that the pizza is simple and not complicated with a cornucopia of toppings. It helps the flavor really shine. The simplicity is more reflective of pizza in New York as well as the style of the pizza - the slices are large and thin. If you like crispy thin pizza, this likely won't be for you. The dough is softer (which is my personal favorite) and foldable. The only reason I removed a star is for the marinara/pizza sauce. It had a slightly canned/acidic flavor that you'd get from a cafeteria pizza. It luckily didn't overpower the flavor, but I think that's the only aspect that could be improved upon read more

What can I say? This beautiful red truck is churning out what has turned out to be my favorite slice of pizza in Austin. I have made it my mission to try as many as I can, especially in the downtown partying area and I just love their pizza way more than the others. Their pizza has the perfect crust with the right crunch and a nice chewiness that doesn't hurt your jaw. The sauce is tangy and has all the right combination of spices doing their late night dance on your tongue. The cheese is meaty and nutty and has that beautiful aroma that quality cheeses get when put in the oven. Toppings are definitely on point here and a must try, but a classic cheese slice will not make you beg for more...until you look at your buddies topping pizza that is. You might find yourself asking for a bite. These guys are only there on the weekends late at night. They won't always have the crazy lines that the other guys on 6th have, but that's just due to people loving lines and having no idea that just a block down these guys create pies that blow those dudes out of the water. Now, I do realize that by writing this review I might change that a bit, but as a true yelper I have vowed to be forthright and honest. Disclaimer. I am no fan of bbq pizza. In my opinion, that is no way to treat the sanctity of a beautiful creation. However, last night I was encouraged by one of the cooks at Stony to try their bbq chicken slice with onions and I must admit that it was a delicious treat and change of pace. Sweetened by the caramelized onions more than the sauce itself, it played nice on my delicate palate that is not too keen on sweet stuff when my mind thinks it should be salty. A tasty slice indeed. The Veggie pizza!!! I'm in love!! They came to my work for the first time today, and for $3 a slice no one was going to pass that up. I ordered a slice of pepperoni and then my friend asked about the veggie, but then ended up getting the sausage and pepperoni. We looked at each other and already knew we needed to try the veggie with all those toppings. So we were absolute fat kids and split that slice. Best decision I've made this year! Their crust is perfectly crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, completely holds up with all the toppings on the veggie. It is not greasy on the bottom at all. The veggie was spicy with those jalapenos and the feta added so much more flavor. The pepperoni was spot on, also not greasy, just a spot on good slice of pepperoni.
