The menu is packed with food options - lovely visuals Taste wise, I got the sloppy noodle for myself which had a lot going on but was a bit underwhelming for flavor compared to visual. There is ramen noodles hidden underneath everything. The pineapple ice is really just sprite with pineapple bits and a lemon slice. Nothing special but the combination works. The baked rice dish is much bigger in reality compared to picture. Honestly could have just got that and an appetizer to share for the table (4 ppl party). I ordered take out at Like Cafe since it was close by in the neighborhood. Longevous Joy at Bay Parkway is my usual place but since two restaurants are by the same owner, how differ can the food be? Boy, was I wrong! The rice noodles with the peanut sauce was bland; very stingy on the peanut sauce. Peanut sauce was thin and light. The order also included cups of soy sauce? It was our first time here and, honestly, the entire experience was quite underwhelming. To say we were disappointed is putting it mildly. My sister and I, we, came here last week, on Friday around 1pm, and although the restaurant was busy, we were promptly seated. Despite the prompt seating though, the service definitely leans more towards the mediocre side of things. The lady receiving us pretty much pointed to an empty table, dropped us off and left us to our own devices. No water or warm tea was served... and hell, we didn't even have menus to look at! Another server came by and brought us dining plates and utensils, but even after a good 5-10 mins, we still didn't have menus. Like WTF? We kept glancing around and saw that other tables had these TVs with menus taped to the screens, but our table just had an empty screen. The two of us ended up looking on their Yelp business page for menu pics, but at one point, I even considered rushing to another table and ripping off the menu to bring back to look at (which is probably the less polite and less civilized thing to do lol). As it turns out, even looking on Yelp for menu pics is the wrong thing to do as the menu has changed drastically -- no more soup dumplings, no more wings (and probably no more a bunch of other things too). When we tried to order the soup dumplings, the server told us that they no longer make soup dumplings, and thus, she gave us their updated menu. Well, finally! After perusing the menu a second time, we ordered the Fishball Cheong Fun, the Pad Thai, and the Beef Tripe to share, and also an Iced Lemon Tea for my sister and an Iced HK Milk Tea for myself. I highly HIGHLY recommend the Fishball Cheong Fun. The cheong fun was so fresh, light, and chewy and the fishballs actually taste like curry (unlike some places that say "curry fishball" but have no curry taste whatsoever). The drinks were quite decent too, but the Pad Thai and the Beef Tripe were absolutely terrible -- both were incredibly bland and essentially flavorless. With all that's said, I can't picture the two of us ever returning. The ingredients are low cost but they only give a few of each - only 4 fish balls, 1 of each stuffed pepper and eggplant (3 total), 2 skewers of rice rolls, and 1 skewer of beef tripe. The beef tripe looked more like fish cake, confusing. The jumbo triple baked rice was a good serving, as it should for $20. However, the flavor was lacking. It was supposed to be a tri-flavored dish, there was one side for typical coconutty/cheesy Portuguese dish, then on the other was what tasted more tomato-y. The middle was indistinguishable. The pork was decent but had a sweet flavored sauce around it. The chicken and pork cutlet were not dry which is a positive. The milk tea had the right amount of condensed milk. Pretty ok spot for HK chachaantang cuisine. I had the tomato meat sauce with spaghetti and it was surprisingly good. I was looking for more of the baked dishes with lots of cheese on top, so I was a bit disappointed when it didn't look the way I expected. But like I said, it was actually really good and the meat sauce was a good blend of savory and sweet with a hint of sourness. My date had the pineapple fried rice and it was ok, nothing mind blowing. I felt that it could've been a bit saltier. The presentation of the dish made it seem like it would be more flavorful, but that wasn't the case. I was a little bit confused about the service because the staff seems like they don't really know you're there and I had to wave someone down to get a menu. Like Cafe is a cozy chachantang that will really transport you to Hong Kong. My friend got a good kick out of the fact that tables are equipped with a button to ring for service. Currently, tables are divided off with shower curtains, which really adds to privacy, even if it's not the most aesthetic. We went for lunch on a Thursday at 12pm and it was probably at 85% capacity -- definitely popular with the locals. I came into it expecting standard Hong Kong style fare, but they actually have a wide range of items, including popular Thai, Singaporean, and Malaysian dishes. Many dishes are $10 and under, so you and your friends or family can definitely order a wide variety without breaking the bank. We ordered a breakfast set (buttered bo lo bao and instant noodles with spam), curry fish balls and cheurng fun, and prawn mee. Loved everything we ordered! I definitely prefer the curry fish balls and cheurng fun here compared to Kow Loon Cafe over on 86th St. Really great portions, perfect for sharing or devouring on your own if you're hungry. Every table was separated by curtains so it felt like you had a lot of privacy. The food was affordable and very tasty. The stuffed tofu with curry mee was only $6.50ish. It's similar to curry mee with young tau fu which you can find at a Malaysian restaurant but it usually costs around $10. Although there wasn't a lot of toppings, for $6.50 I thought it was worth it. The beef tripe is better than the beef tripe you find at dim sum places and they give a generous amount. For an extra $1.50, you can get a drink to come with your meal. The times on both Yelp and Google are inaccurate. We got there around 10:10 and the gates were closed so we thought maybe it opened at 11 like Google said. We came back at 11 and it was packed. They have shower curtains to separate different dining parties. Their menu is a bit messy and all over the place. Seems like they can't seem to focus on one cuisine. I'm usually a fan of their Portuguese chicken over rice. Lately they have definitely reduced the amount of chicken in the dish probably due to the rising costs of chicken(chicken shortage anyone?) Their breakfast combos are a deal, comes with a sandwich, choice of noodle, and a drink. Honestly can't expect too much from such a cheap meal. I've been here a few timed and honestly I haven't found anything that I would reorder other than the Horlicks slush. They have breakfast combos only on Fri-Sun which is disappointing when you come in wanting breakfast combos on the other days of the week. I think for this area this cafe is better than Jin Jin from across the street. Also I think it's best to bring cash. We tried paying with debit card one and the lady came back saying the card didn't go through. From what we interrupt was that the credit card got denied. Aside from the photo, I recommend the green curry katsu. It's different from regular curry but still a bit spicy. The katsu's crunch gives it texture. The beef burrito tasted odd to me but I was glad I got to try something new, something I couldn't find in other restaurants. It was just a cold piece of meet wrapped around the shanghai crispy pancake. However, I noticed it was a favorite among the other locals. I never had to wait to get a table which is great because I. So cheap and so good for the price. Reminds me of childhood. Dont compare this to a dumpling house or a noodle place because neither. It's a nostalgic cafe that reminds me of the typical Cantonese food place with all of the foods we used to eat when we were kids as an American born Chinese. There are so many options and the dumplings aren't as good as nanxiang xiao long bao or shanghai 21 or even Joe's shanghai but it's easy and fast if you want some moist pork in a dumpling. I would get noodles and breakfast here. Its bright and colorful and it reminds me of a TVB show in early 2000s. Love it. Dont come here if you are looking for a extremely good restaurant or upscale food but instead come in with an open mind and enjoy your time with some friends. It's a good place to open in bensonhurst because we barely have any hk cafe and the population around here is mainly Cantonese. Surprised that Fay Wong is replaced by a Hong Kong style type restaurant. Very glad it did! Walked right in and had the Hong Kong feeling with the different pictures on the wall. The menu was simple and had everything I would order and like to eat. Ordered the shumai, fake shark fin soup, noodles in mix sauce, noodles cooked in soy sauce and beef, milk tea and coffee ice cream for lunch. The orders came in white containers with two long sticks just like Hong Kong cart food style or dai pai Dong. My family and I really enjoyed it where we woke up early on a Saturday just to come here for breakfast. Sadly their breakfast wasn't as good as Fay Wong but it's nice to know I have this place as an option if I want macaroni in soup and preserved pork and cabbage in rice noodle soup. Started coming here a little over half a year ago because they had the Hong Kong staples such as the soy sauce noodles, beef chow fun, Cherng fun and a cheap fake shark fin soup. Went today and the menu shrunk by a whole page, everything I mentioned was gone except for the cherng fun and soup. They only have cheese baked (not great tbh, hk tea and sushi has bigger portions and more flavor, also think they used American cheese ) the breakfast/all day noodle specials, Hainanese chicken and some curry dishes. Also when I went to pay...some of the dishes were $2 extra, inquired about the price increase and she said "the sign said there's an increase" (of a dollar) ...seems like a scam tbh. everything here was OK and authentic. I can't say that most places are authentic cause I really don't get that feel but here I definitely get that feel of a Taiwan Hong Kong restaurant. We ordered the black pepper noodles, the curry, fish balls, and condensed milk toast. I love how here they get condensed milk toast, right it has condensed milk and a toast is just lightly toasted, which is perfect. I also like their black pepper noodles, which is flavorful and filling for a lunch or dinner meal. The service is also good. They really try to get everybody in within a certain timeframe and get out your food quickly. Although I know this place is in for everyone if you are willing to try some Hong Kong authentic food I feel like this is just good for people in general. The employee sat my family down by the door. There was no heat in the restaurant on one of the coldest days. Everyone had to wear a jacket while eating. After having about 3 bites of our food, we decided to get the check so we can just eat at home. The food was also very disappointing and we have been dined here many times before. The quality of food has gone down over the year. We paid for the food and as we were about to leave, the waitress demanded at least 18% of tips as we only gave them 15%. There were no signs, labels or anything in the restaurant or menu saying it was a requirement to pay at least 18% for tips. Tips are optional and freely given by customers. A recommended or suggested tip is not the same as an auto gratuity. With suggested tips, the percentage is merely a guideline, not a requirement. The customer may choose what tip amount they want to give their server, if any. Restaurants should clearly label suggested tips and automatic gratuities on the bill. Please keep that mind before your employees try to do that with other customers. With that being said, your restaurant wont be receiving anymore business from me. read more

This place brings the food and the mood of hong kong style food for all the HK foodies who want to satisfy their cravings without hopping on a long ass flight. I love their HK tea with milk. It's strong without tasting bitter and sweet without inducing phlegm build up. You HAVE to get their pineapple bun! It's so freaking good...served warm with a thick slab of butter in the middle. Their rice noodle with the peanut and sweet sauce was delicious. Also very good was the beef tripe intestine dish. Flavorful and soft so you know it's been cooked thoroughly. The only thing to keep in mind, they also give you a lot of other parts so if you only like the tripe part like me, maybe ask the waiter and see if it's possible to get only the tripe or mostly the tripe. We came for breakfast and ordered the spam and egg ramen which could've used a little more flavor so that was disappointing. But the spam and egg combo always hits right. Always have a long wait outside but this time they used buzzers similar to Red Lobster etc for the wait line which made it much easier for us so we did not need to cramp inside the small restaurant.
