- Locale Destination - It's in 8th ave and 60th st in Borough Park, Brooklyn. Right close to the subway station, the entrance of Chinatown. Ambiance: typical mom & pop's. No frill. Simple and casual. Menu: breakfast like congee to roasted pork/duck w/rice and noodles. Service: quick, no English, credit cards ok - Gluttony Expedition - Roasted duck: Roasted pork won't be available since the opening time. It'll be served after certain time. So I had only a duck choice in the morning. It's an authentic flavor, big portions, $7.5 for lots of food. Not bad! - Conqueror's Deduction - It's more like 3.5 stars. It's cheap, decent, big portions, and cash only. What not to like?

This restaurant is a family regular as I come to 8th Ave infrequently. This is authentic Cantonese. The decor is barebones as possible. Restroom is only for customers. After you order and pay for your food. Cleaning is self service. This time my family ordered congee and I ordered a sweet fried bread. This is not as frequently as available as the other longer fried dough.

It's a small hole-in-the-wall takeout shop, but there are some seats in the back to dine in. It is not a fancy place, nor do they have the best service, but if you're looking for a fast and more affordable meal, this is the place to stop by. I came here twice and enjoyed the food. Of everything we ordered, I liked the pork belly and congee. The duck was good, but it was on the saltier side.

Came by for lunch the other day and it was a tasty experience. Located within Brooklyn Chinatown, ordering was a chaotic process with the many cutting the queue to order. I guess speaking Cantonese and calling out the order to Auntie is helpful... The restaurant was pretty warm even with the ductless air conditioner turned on. The beef brisket roast duck leg noodle soup was excellent. The beef brisket was very tender and flavorful. The roast duck leg was fragrant and tender. The egg noodles were tasty and the pork broth was light. There are a few tables towards the back of the restaurant for eating on-site. $10 for lunch, cash only.

This restaurant has some of the best congee in all of NYC imho, along with some of the best Cantonese style roast meats (aka Chinese BBQ) as well. Honestly, you cannot go wrong with any of the congees, so I won't bother listing out everything I like (all of them). In regards to the roast meats, quality and taste is second to none, including famous spots like Big Wong in Chinatown. However, depending on the chef cutting up your meats, you could get some weird shapes and cuts. This is the one negative I have with their food. Every time I stop by the area, it is now a foregone conclusion that I will pick up some congee and maybe roast meats. Only question is how much? And usually the answer is way too much. Lol

My go-to for morning breakfast that satisfies my heart and tummy. It serves mainly Cantonese style rice and noodles dishes that I grew up eating as a kid. My favorite is their Sampan Congee (Tan-jai Jook), a combination of seafood and minced meat cooked together in rice porridge. Their porridge is always the right consistency that's perfect with a Fried Dough stick. Breakfast just doesn't get any better than this. Price is decent and gets you full. The wonton noodle soup tastes very similar to what I had in Hong Kong. The only complaint is the ordering process. The front counter is very narrow, customers lines up from the left and right, and just shout out their orders. If you want to give the traditional Canto style cuisine a try: this place might be a good start.

Food

Very good food. Best taste ever! The service is also good. Not very loud, and not dirty.

They even offered a complimentary bottle of wine and a few small appetizer dishes, which was a very nice touch. It's a seafood restaurant and seafood is clearly their specialty. They also have a live seafood market, so we were able to pick our own seafood. Everything was very fresh and delicious. Other dishes, the chicken was surprisingly tasty as well. Since it was a birthday celebration, we took our time and stayed a bit longer. Even though we ended up staying past their closing time, they didn't rush us to leave. We really appreciated that and had a wonderful time there.

The meal includes geoduck sashimi, jellyfish & mixed appetizer, soup, steamed fish, crab & lobster with sticky rice, abalone, steamed shrimp, noodles, and veggies. Some dishes were bigger than others. Both times I came they didn't have abalone so we substitute the dish for garlic scallop (which I prefer). The menu also says it comes with house special dessert but we never gotten any. For any seafood, it's market price plus they add a 30% processing fee, which is strange to me. For a Chinese restaurant which usually does not charge tax if you pay with cash, they charge tax here whether you pay by card or cash. The restaurant is pretty big and spacious. They have pretty large tables, suitable for parties and celebrations. There's a private space upstairs with 3 large tables for parties. The restaurant is pretty slow in the afternoon.

They also serve roast meat (chicken, duck, pork). They don't speak fluent English, so it will help if you know Mandarin/Cantonese OR keep your dialogue to a minimum by following the directions below. I highly recommend getting the combo with rice and 3 sides. To order, go up to the glass window (outside) and gesture that you want your food to-go or to eat-in. I usually get it to-go. The sides are displayed in the pans behind the glass. Choose 3 by pointing. My usual order is a meat pie, preserved peppers, and a vegetable. Then, go inside and pay (about $6.50 per combo). They will ask if you want a free soup...say yes because the soup is filled with MSG and is delicious. I can understand why people would be hesitant to come here due to concern for cleanliness, but all the good restaurants in Chinatown are dirty. I'll take my chances.

We went straight for their signature deep fried garlic chicken and decided to share the Peking duck--and both dishes were beautifully presented and packed with incredible flavor. The chicken, in particular, was crispy, aromatic, and absolutely delicious, though it's worth noting you'll want to be a bit careful as there are quite a few small bones throughout. The Peking duck was equally impressive, cooked perfectly with rich, satisfying taste in every bite. You can really tell the kitchen puts care into both quality and presentation. On top of the food, the staff were adorable and welcoming, making the whole experience even more enjoyable. The ambiance felt warm, lively, and comfortable--perfect for a relaxed meal in Chinatown.
