Chicken Gizzard Clay Pot
Qiu L.

This is located at the busy section of 86th street, only street parking if you drive there. It could be hard to find parking sometimes. The place looks pretty new and clean. Staff is very attentive. Service is good but expect to wait a bit for the clay pot rice cuz they make it when you order it. Food is decent. We ordered the clay pot with the chicken gizzard I believe. It doesn't come with white rice so you'll have to order that separately if you want rice. The flavor is good but the gizzard is very very chewy. I don't think I'll order it again. 6/10 Clay pot rice is good and has a nice crust. 8/10 The soup desert we ordered is a just soso. Just sweet but not much special. 5/10

Love claypot foods & this place did not disappoint. The menu had so much items to choose from. We ended up ordering to share: 1) salted egg yolk prawns clay pot, 2) black pepper beef cubes clay pot, 3) clay pot chicken w/ shiitake mushrooms and chestnuts, 4) cucumber salad. Their top 2 best sellers (salted egg yolk prawn & black pepper beef cubes clay pot) were super delicious. Those 2 were our most favorite. The corn in that salted egg yolk prawn claypot was the star. Too bad they didn't put that much corn in it. The shrimp was good but it was deep fried w/ the outer shell on. The black pepper beef cubes were so tender, juicy and well seasoned. I didn't care much for the vegetables and garlic in the claypot. The chicken w/ shiitake mushroom claypot was our least favorite. The chicken was ok & there wasn't that much shiitake mushroom or chestnut in it. The cucumber salad was also not our most favorite - it could be better. You have to order rice on the side because the claypots did not come w/ it. But the rice was amazing and very fragrant! We enjoyed eating it w/ the foods. Decor was very nice + modern. Staff were all very friendly, attentive and nice. We went during lunar new year week + did not know they were doing a raffle. By the end of the meal, the nice waiter brings a box of gashapon looking green balls + asked us to choose 1. I digged deep into the box & won a toshiba rice cooker! WOW! We were all amazed. My dad was very happy because I gave it to him. I would come back to try their other food items. Their top sellers were really delicious though.

Finally came to try this place where all dishes are cooked in a claypot! We ordered 4 dishes and 2 of them were excellent (salted fish eggplant and stir fried water spinach). The salted egg chicken wings had a nice coating but the meat was kind of dried and the sweet and sour pork ribs, they must've forgotten the sour part because it wasn't sour at all. The restaurant had multiple 4-6 person booths lining both walls of the restaurant with a few 2 person tables in the middle and with 1 big round table at the end. Staff was attentive and nice. Will definitely come back to try other pots!

Zhe Zhe Pot was far for me but it was worth the trip. I love the cultural design art that was all around. It was not a long wait to get my food. The service there was great 10/10. The waiter helped me with what to order. They will start you off with complimentary tea and then some soup. I order the chicken clay pot. It was good and flavorful. My favorite was the rice noodles and it was very good. This place was great, great environment, great service, and great food.

If you're looking for authentic Cantonese "zhe zhe" clay pot cuisine, this spot feels incredibly homey and they are light on the MSG. What we ordered: Frog Leg over Rice (4/5): A massive portion of rice! Great for sharing, though the meat-to-rice ratio is a a lot of rice and little rice Cauliflower (4.25/5): That "wok hei" smokiness was incredible. Good veggie dish Eggplant with Salted Fish (4.5/5): Our absolute favorite of the night. It was delicious, though we could have used a bit more of that bold salted fish flavor! Spare Ribs with Chinese Sausage (4/5): Classic flavors, but like the frog leg, it's a thinner layer of meat over a lot of rice. Pro-tip for next time: Order one "clay pot over rice" to share, then fill the table with their standalone clay pot dishes!

Nice decor and very clean. The service is great. Complimentary tea and soup was given to the diners today. They were very busy but just calm out to someone and they'll be right with you. The Food Pickled Mustard Greens with Pork Intestine clay Pot: 5/5 This is the best out of the ones we got. The pickled mustard was great sour and tantalizing. This paired well with the perfectly cooked pork intestines in a combination of sour, savory, a little spicy and a tiny hint of sweetness. The intestines were cooked perfectly no hint of intestinal flavor and a bouncy profile with a mild chew. This is a must get! Black Bean Clam Clay Pot: 4/5 Good amount of clams; solid flavors; and a good dish if you like to have some clams. There was almost no grit from these clams. Cauliflower Clay Pot: 4/5 Flavor was spot on. Has a tiny bit of spice to help give it a small kick. None of the flavors were overpowering. The cauliflower could've used a little more less cook time but other than that it was great. Perilla Bullfrog Clay Pot: 3/5 Good cook on the frog but flavor profile was not my favorite. The brown sauce was a bit too salty and strong without any other flavors to complement it. It definitely would've been better if made into a spicy dish. Overall for the price and amount of food not bad. The flavor was mainly on point and it shows with how busy they are. If you come; even though it sounds off putting but hands down their best dish; you gotta try the Pickled Mustard Greens with Pork Intestine clay Pot.

Ambiance - is pretty bright, spacious and clean. decent to comfortable for dining. many booths 4 - 6 ppl size and 1 medium size round table at the back. Service - all the server were very friendly and nice. somewhat attentive. Food - the dish options are unique, dont get to see in other Chinese restaurants, the tastes are pretty good. worth a try. Overall the menu price is overpriced since the portion are not big.

Black Pepper Beef Cubes Clay Pot Must get; delicious and perfectly cooked

A very solid 4 visit. But I'm going to give it a 5 because of the free soup, but why is my base review a 4? It really just came down to personal preference reasons and I'll explain why. We dined out as a family, so bringing the little ones are always dicey; i.e not entirely sure if you're going to be downing your food in a rush due to meltdowns or kids won't eat etc. so I knew I needed to know what to order as soon as I got in as clay pot rice takes about 20 min to make. So my advice is to come in knowing your rice pot order and placing it immediately. We ordered: fish maw clay pot, beef cube clay pot and a large eel rice clay pot. The rice pots can be ordered in a small or medium size. This was my own oversight; I thought they had a lengthy list of rice pot dishes; it's a lengthy list of CLAY POT dishes and only a SELECTION of rice pot dishes. Fish maw: This wasn't bad, flavor wise it was good, but the texture was chewy. I expected more of a braised/soft texture but this was like a quick stir fry so quite chewy. Beef cubes: star of the night. Many places don't do this right, but this place does. Why? The meat is tender and flavorful and high in quantity. The main reason why it's tender? They know the clay pot will continue to cook the beef, so as soon as it hits the table, it's at medium rare. So if that's your jam, pull it out and start eating. If you like it more well done, let it sit a bit longer. I enjoyed both and the kids ate it up. Eel rice pot: this was not what I expected, but the picture should have given it away. It comes pre mixed and the texture is not that of a fluffy jasmine rice. It's more similar to slow stir fried sticky rice that retains texture and chew, which is nice, but just unexpected. So if you enjoy sticky rice; this will be a hit. The eel is sliced thin and mixed in with bits of scallion. The crispy bottom easily comes off the clay pot, which is lovely (no battling with the pot). The clay pots keep the dishes warm even as you slowly eat your food. For the parents; you know that feeding kids takes awhile and it's hard to have a hot meal, so this was a nice plus. Service was attentive and kind. My little one is noisy and in everyone's business, but staff were very nice to him and checked in on us frequently. So the extra star is for the free soup. This is not your free powdered mix in soup. This is grandma made soup for the grandkids type of soup. There's edible meat, flavor, and homey feels coming from it, and at a portion enough for a family. My picky kids wanted the soup meat. the. Soup. Meat.

Claypot Rice with Spare Ribs

Came here with my family for dinner on a Monday night around 6PM with no line. To start off, the restaurant was very clean and new. Apparently they have been open for about 2 months Let's start with the black pepper beef. You MUST get this dish. It is done so well. The beef is tender, juicy, and packed full of flavor. My only wish is that there was more The steamed rice rolls in claypot was so good as well. They were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Seasoned to perfection Cauliflower was great too Vermicelli with squid and shrimp was surprisingly really good. It didn't have a fishy flavor and I'm very sensitive to that The claypot rice with spare ribs was good as well. The only thing is that the cuts of spare rib did have a lot of bone and wasn't as easy to eat I will be back

I thought this was a solid place with delicious clay pot dishes. Serving size was favorable - we ordered two dishes and an app and had some leftovers between the two of us. Black pepper beef clay pot was delicious. The beef was tender and not chewy at all. The water spinach was also good and has a very classic taste to it. I would skip the oyster pancake next time. While I enjoyed the chewy texture of the pancake, it lacked flavor, didn't come with any sauce and nothing to remember. Would definitely come back to try their other clay pots.

A much needed neighborhood addition that serves up delicious clay pots! We came out for a family lunch on Sunday & happened to come across Zhe Zhe Pot. The restaurant was packed at around 1pm, but we waited for only about 8 mins. The clay pot rice says that it serves 2, and it really does. For the 4 of us, we ordered the chinese sausage & eel clay pot rices, an oyster pancake, and the water spinach with chili & fermented tofu. I LOVED the water spinach - it was so flavorful with just the right kick to it. Highly recommend as a veggie option. I already liked both clay pot rices - the rice portions were massive, and toppings were generous. The eel rice looks like its stir fried before serving to ensure that it's more fragrant and flavorful. I would skip the oyster pancake though. For about $13, this just tasted like a regular seafood pancake and the texture was waay too starchy. It was almost like mochi. The food itself is like a 4.5 star for me, but the service here needs some serious work. The waiters are avoidant from the start. We had to really try to flag someone down to order, then had to ask for tea, and it was difficult to get anyone for drink refills. Of note - because of all the sizzling clay pots, be prepared to smell a bit after leaving the restaurant. Ventilation isn't great despite the restaurant being quite spacious.

Zhe Zhe was such a unique experience. Most dishes were made and served in clay pots which had familiar Cantonese flavors and our family raved at how each order was seasoned well from steak to fish to cauliflower. We also tried the beef chow fun and sweet and sour pork ribs but the clay pots were definitely the stars of the meal. Great spot to take a large group. Our Cantonese parents were complimentary so you know that says a lot!

"Eh, did Yelp just recommended me a pot of dicks in Brooklyn?" "Don't make that dick joke, hun..." But I need to. And I must. What the hell is 啫啫 (zhe zhe) and why is it associated with a pot 煲? If you grew up in Hong Kong and can read Chinese, you will no doubt be familiar with the Hong Kong Supplementary Character Set 香港增補字符集 - it's 4500+ Chinese characters used only in Hong Kong and surrounding areas to express Cantonese sounds or concepts. 啫 is derived from 者 zhe, Mandarin for person, except with the square box "kou" or mouth radical on the left implying that it is meant as a phonetic crutch for onomatopoeic purposes. In Hong Kong for example jelly is rendered phonetically as 啫喱 zheli as opposed to the more common 果凍. That's why the menu at this restaurant refers to their selections as "classical jelly", as whatever they use for machine translation failed to pick up this linguistic nuance. In Cantonese 啫啫 is understood as a sound of something sizzling on ceramic...however, it is also schoolyard slang for penis, more like雞雞 JiJi in Mandarin slang or peepee stateside. It's a brave choice for a restaurant name as you are basically daring a bunch of grownups to not giggle - if you can read Chinese, imagine a Uyghur restaurant named 大盤雞雞, read Dapanji-ji a big plate of chicken or "a big plate of dicks". Does the boldness of that name translate to good eats? Kinda. Dick jokes aside, how's the place? Well, it's Cantonese but with the gimmick that most foods will be served off a sizzling clay pot, to the point where every item features 啫 on its name. The location used to be part of the former 247 Fitness on 86th+Bay 22nd and came with a brand new dining room, spacious and modern. Me and the missus ordered 3 items for a light lunch - the tossed tofu skin, their black pepper beef cubes, and their clay pot salted chicken rice. The tossed tofu skin tasted okay but can use a bit more salt and flavoring. Considering that it was just yuba tossed in chile oil, you don't get that much either. The pepper beef cubes were wok seared and had chewy tender steak bits, but it doesn't have much in terms of black pepper flavors. As for the claypot rice, the bottom had a seared crispy layer of rice (pegao, baby) which worked well enough with the sweet soy...the issue is that the salted chicken pieces tasted a bit stale which undid the good of the seared rice. Overall the food was okay but it tasted a bit dull compared to King's Kitchen (mini-chain and my usual go-to for Cantonese claypot cuisine) which has a location on the other side of the 20th Avenue subway stop. Pricing-wise, well, it's Q4 '25 and going out to eat is pricy in general - they did do a holiday gachapon promotion and the missus got comp'ed a free drink, so that was nice. The place is comfy, clean-ish and they do have some interesting items on the menu, so if I end up at Bath Beach I don't mind heading there again. I just need to stop snickering at the idea of eating a pot of dicks...

The Peking duck was equally impressive, cooked perfectly with rich, satisfying taste in every bite. You can really tell the kitchen puts care into both quality and presentation. The atmospheric decor contains very beautiful Chinese lanterns suspended from the ceiling throughout the restaurant. I believe it is decorated for Lunar New Year throughout the entire year. No comment for facility as I did not utilize. Customer service is average attentive and the staff is fluent in both English and Cantonese. I did not have to wait long to be served nor request the bill, and neither attain change. I often dine alone as a single woman and was regarded with respect for patronizing. It is always good to hear Cantonese spoken as it is mellifluous... at long last to continue this vernacular of Chinese language. I ordered in a mixture of both English and Cantonese. I was promptly seated by the maître d' promptly for a table. We split the mussels and frites and "McRib" sandwich, and they were also excellent and really tasty. We also tried three drinks, black tea penicillin, Ribena Highball and Henny Kravitz, which I would all recommend. Overall a great meal.
