I moved to Boston earlier this year, and my new place has small coin operated appliances in the basement for laundry, shared with people in three other apartments. Rather than lug my stuff up and down stairs, and babysit the loads for hours, I decided to check out the local options for wash/dry/fold service. During my search, I found Life Without Laundry. They have been awesome. I usually set it up for a Saturday pickup and Sunday drop-off. I can go out and about, and not have to worry about forgetting about my laundry until it's too late, and running out of clean clothes. I also don't have to go down the narrow stairs from the second floor to the basement. I just put the full bag outside my apartment door, and the next day they drop off my clothes, all ready to be put away. One less thing to keep track of, and well worth the cost (about $2/lb with a 15lb minimum as of the date of this review) to have the extra freedom. read more

I sent in clothes to be dry cleaned and laundered. My dry cleaning went through the laundry, which in itself was bad enough, but I didn't get the sense that they cared. The initial response was insinuating it was something I did, but given that this was my first time using a delivery service I was very very clear. I diligently filled in forms, put dry cleaning and laundry in separate different colored bags, marked that in my notes, confirmed with the delivery driver. Even after that mistake, I then had to wait a week to wait for the "final dry cleaning" Delivery that didn't exist (because all my clothes had been laundered). My silk jacked was damaged and I had put in my husbands wedding suit jacket too. The two stars is because the laundry seemed ok and was on time. I would not recommend for dry cleaning services if the items are precious to you. read more

After spending my entire adult life with laundry in-unit and then moving to an apartment that didn't have it, I really really wanted to love this business! I even waited until I had sent in 3 orders before writing this review, just to see if things became better! The pros: Alex is super responsive and helpful, the drivers are always pleasant and helpful, and laundry brought right to my door? It sounded like a dream come true! Now either I've been unlucky, or there are a few cons too. My first order started well. Alex talked me through the order (with my Yelp discount), and the driver came right at the start of my pickup window. My clothes arrived neatly packaged the next day, but wait... they were beyond wrinkled. Not like a few wrinkles that would loosen up in time, but SOLID, SET wrinkles. It was really surprising to me, because these are clothes that I never need to iron when I do laundry myself. I just figured, ok, they have lots of orders at once and maybe the clothes were left in the dryer awhile before being folded, which is why the wrinkles are so deep. My second visit, I chose a pickup window of 8-10pm, with drop-off at 10-12pm because I had to travel the next day, and hoped for the secondary benefit that um, my clothes would be taken out of the dryer sooner! I checked with Alex to make sure this was alright, got the a-ok, and placed the order. Pick-up went well, but drop-off... the driver didn't show up until 2:30pm. I asked Alex what was going on and was told the driver was new and forgot my bag at the base. Sigh, ok. First days are rough, I let it go. Clothes are, again, heavily wrinkled. My third visit, I extended the window a little bit: 8-10pm pickup, 12-2pm drop off. I specifically leave instructions about air drying the bras I've placed in delicates bags, and not folding the socks. (No offense to the people folding, the rolled socks just don't fit well in my dresser.) But when my clothes are returned... 2 of my bras are misshapen (not sure if they were just crammed back into the delicates bag or if they were accidentally put in the dryer), all my socks are rolled up into balls, andddd instead my underwear isn't folded. Not to mention, once again, THE WRINKLES. I spent 2 hours last night folding underwear and ironing every single item of clothing. 20+ pounds of clothing. I'm really disappointed, because the staff and concept of LwL are great. If they weren't, I would have given only 2-stars. Wish I had experiences like the other reviewers! read more

I'm from the south where everybody does their own laundry so it's quite a culture shock having someone else do it for me. I wasn't worried about sending my clothes off because I don't really care, but if you are worried - don't be! This couldn't be any easier and my clothes couldn't smell fresher or cleaner. Also they fold everything so perfectly it's amazing. They also got stains out of clothes that I had just written off as permanent. Sometimes it's because I get behind keeping up with life or work is more time consuming... sometimes it's because I need a break or just one less thing to do. Regardless the reason, LWL is there within 24 hours and everything comes back the next day clean, organized and FOLDED! I'm from California and my son goes to college in Boston. He had a medical emergency and ended up in ICU at Boston Mass General. I had to fly from CA to Boston to help him. Because it was an emergency he had no clean clothes when he got out of the hospital. Life Without Laundry worked me into their schedule earlier than the App would allow and were prompt and reliable. I would have had to leave my son for a day to do laundry somewhere and this service was so easy and helpful. The clothes are clean and smell fresh. My first time using Life without laundry my whites were dingy, my towels which I have had for years with very little fading turned white and I got my shirts two days later than promised with not even a heads up. Also, read the terms of service. They will be liable for very little. I've not seen another online laundry feel the need to that. read more

I'll admit it. I was skeptical giving my dirties to a stranger. But Life without Laundry is incredibly professional, responsive, and easy to use. I scheduled my pickup and next day dropoff online, I received a text with a 15 min ETA of the pickup, handed him my dirty clothes in a trashbag, and then got them the next day perfectly folded and fresh with a reusable bag for future dropoffs. It was so easy. Also, big shoutout to the owner Alex who is proactive and truly cares about LwL customer's experience. Like some of the other reviewers for LwL, I never thought I would ever utilize laundry service, but after moving to Back Bay, I couldn't imagine dragging a suitcase of luggage to a coin laundromat a mile away from my apartment. I saw the great reviews for LwL and decided to give them a try. It is a little pricey (it is for me at least, since I'm a recent college grad who had the privilege of free laundry in the dorms). One load comes out to about $33 for a minimum 15 lb load of laundry (for your first time, you get $5 off). However, given the difficulty of doing laundry in Back Bay, I think the price is justified by the easy online scheduling, pick up/washing/drying/folding, AND delivery to your door. My clothes came back nice, soft, smelling better than ever, and beautifully folded. He also included a free laundry bag for me (having just moved, I didn't have a hamper, so I'd stuffed 10 pounds of laundry in a large shopping bag). Alex, the owner, was very helpful, and I appreciated that he was always a call or text away. I also liked that he is open and receptive to feedback, whether it is positive or negative. What I really like about their business model is their emphasis on clear communication. Management and staff are always accessible every step of the way. They even send you a text or call when the driver is on his/her way. I had a very good first experience with LwL and plan on signing up for a monthly plan with them. A+ Service I've tried many services around Boston and LWL is hands down the best! -LWL is literally the only w/d/f service that hasn't ignored my request for low/no heat dry and put my clothes in on full heat and ruined them. :) -I completely spaced on including my own detergent with my laundry before it was picked up. So, I was a bit nervous that my sensitive skin + their detergent would land me with a full body rash. Welp, needless to say, I slept in my freshly washed sheets and I was completely fine. -Pickup and delivery was seamless. The driver brought my clothes allllllll the way up to my 5th floor walk up without me asking. I find this absolutely incredible, astonishing really. Still can't wrap my head around it. (My only *small* complaint is that my clothes weren't completely sorted (ie all jeans folded and stacked together). Not a big deal at all, or a reason to take off a star, just caused me to use up an extra spoon or two.) read more

they are the best! seriously one time i gave them pretty much everything that was in my house that could feasibly be laundered. they didn't shrink or lose anything. their delivery and pick up people are like ninjas , i have never actually physically seen one in fact, but they are always punctual.. or at least , i put laundry out, it disappears at the appointed time and reappears when they said it would. no questions asked. why ruin a good thing? i don't care if they're teleporting, in fact, i encourage it . just more proof of the inevitable truth: the rest of us really need to think about stepping up our earth game read more

I'm a believer- this is magical! After my first experience I wondered why all the 5 star reviews- I had a few issues with the clothes coming back damp and wrinkled. The owner was super communicative in figuring out how to fix the issues- which I really appreciate. My second order just came back and was followed up with a phone call with the owner to make sure everything was in tip top shape. It's surprising that you can talk to a real human right away without waiting and without any autogenerated text/voice. _________________________________________ I can't say anything about their wash&fold service because I haven't used it. I'm sure their wash&fold is fantastic based on other reviews. My experience is only limited to dry cleaning. Also please take my review with a grain of salt b/c I had a particular expectation. To be fair, I mistakenly thought that LWL has its own dry cleaning facility, just because a similar service I used back at home (different country) does, and this was the main reason why I used LWL. It was thus surprising to see the attached receipt from another local dry cleaning business on my clothes. I guess this means that they contract with several local places to do dry cleaning. Not that this is a problem, but it just was unexpected for me. I was also a little disappointed to see that this local store that LWL hired didn't have a good rating (2.5 in yelp). I probably wouldn't have gone to this local dry cleaning place myself with such low ratings and bad reviews. LWL offers convenient service and its customer service is superb. But I'd personally just call the local dry cleaning places to pick up my stuff (or walk few blocks) if they're doing the job anyways. read more

Recently I decided to try Life Without Laundry. The service works very well, and the two times I have used it, the clothes have come back in great condition. The staff that pick up and deliver clothes have a great attitude. You get text-messages before their arrivals, with a handy map-view of where they are. I have not used the service enough to rate it 5 stars yet, but that is only due to lack of data. If they keep doing what they are doing they might get a bump-up to five stars. Do not use this service at all. I have yet to receive my laundry in 4 days from this company. They supposed to keep your clothes for one day not 4 days. My laundry was not delivered. No notice or update was given that it would not be delivered or that there would be a delay. When I reached out to Alex, I was told they could deliver it 2 days later than selected return date/time. It was then dispatched at a time I was not home despite my asking multiple times not to be sent. Had all my work uniforms in it. I felt like I had to basically beg/insist to have my belongings returned to me. Finally returned to me 24 hours later, still charged full price. Would not recommend. read more

We were pretty disappointed in the wash/dry quality of our first order from Life Without Laundry. We had a large order of clothes that all came back feeling starchy - even our softest t-shirts feel stiff. Several items shrank significantly (even things we had washed/dried previously). I sent in a pair of my favorite smartwool running socks and only one made it back in my bag (and those are expensive socks!). All the customer-facing for this business seems great - driver was nice, service was responsive, turn-around is quick - but we were let down by how the laundry itself turned out. We've seen all the great reviews so perhaps our experience was a fluke, but disappointing nonetheless. read more

One more star, but that's it. Since my last review, I have had other people's laundry delivered to me and have had my detergent lost. Not impressive. Also - They have contacted me at least 4 times via phone and text asking me to update my review. I don't love that. I've finally resigned to only sending things out that can be washed/dried normally without special instruction like low heat or hang dry. Anything else is too complicated. Again, they are AWESOME at folding. I will continue to use them for my basic laundry needs for that reason, and I also like the online scheduling tool, but still not a five-star operation. read more

I definitely got behind in my laundry thanks to this damn COVID-19 and the fact that I have the use of only one hand. I seem to be okay with some of my laundries, but I managed to get way behind with a whole bunch of it. I luckily found Life Without Laundry. They are amazing! I had my laundry picked up at the time when I was told to expect the pickup and when the gentleman in the car saw me having trouble getting my bag out the door he got out of the car and came for my bag for me. Alex is easy to talk to on the phone. My laundry came back as promised Man, I wish I knew how to fold t-shirts as great as they do. My white t-shirts are finally white years after buying them. I have been a Life Without Laundry customer for 3+ years doing wash and fold roughly 1x/week. I was so surprised that they were able to do next day delivery that I think I initially overlooked some of the sloppiness (delivery well outside of the window promised on most occasions, missing clothes on a handful of occasions, etc.). In the last six months, however, they have lost my clothes three times (one time was for 4+ days). I got a bag of wet clothes back in a bag. Yes, wet clothes that I then had to dry and fold (yet I was paying for wash AND FOLD). And another time the bag of clothes reeked of cigarette smoke so I had to wash everything all over again (and was still charged for this). And I get that COVID has severely impacted every industry and I'm sure this one is no different. So, once again, I was trying to be extra understanding, But when I texted with Alex about these recent events, he was completely nonchalant about it like it wasn't a big deal that he could not locate my clothes for 4 days and he kept giving excuses (e.g. weather, they were extra busy, etc.) or throwing his team under the bus (e.g. new people, bad drivers, new laundromats, etc.). I was understanding for 3+ years. But then it just became too much. If you're in this type of business, logistics are key and it felt like they didn't have a good handle on the logistics. Or quality control, for that matter. I have since switched to Rinse which is way more reliable, cheaper, and more on top of the logistics. read more
