It's OK. As far as I can tell, the problem is that people who work here - at least the two I met - act like it's their first day on the job. I was here on business and late for a meeting and ran in to drop off my dress shirts with no time to spare. The guy in line ahead of me was telling the cashier that he was going to be forced to sue them in small claims court if they did not find or reimburse him for his lost items. Finally, it was my turn. I had four shirts. I asked how much it cost to dry clean each shirt. The lady at the register said she had worked there for a while but didn't know the prices. After a few minutes staring at her screen, she said she wasn't sure, but that it could be up to $9/shirt (it wasn't). read more

I was overcharged for a service that was not agreed upon. Additionally, a middle-aged female staff member was aggressive and argumentative. Their prices are high for what is standard service, and on occasion, expensive clothes returned from dry cleaning are not clean. Then I said I think my receipt is wrong because all the charges are $8-9, when only 3 of my items were that much. Then I checked the bar codes on my items, none match the receipt. The person at the store at Clarendon and Newbury had nothing good to say after all of my facts. She said her manager would say the same thing as her. Okay, we'll have fun reading an additional review displaying with pictures how incompetent your store workers are. Refund my whole purchase to make up for your worker's attitude on the phone. Went to pick up an order on Wednesday. They couldn't find one of the blouses. After searching for 10 minutes, they said they would need more time to find it and that I should come back on Friday. Came back on Friday and it was Groundhog Day. Still couldn't find it, said they would need more time and that I would have to come back later as they had "customers" waiting. Wow, I guess I made the mistake of thinking that I'm a customer. Not sure I'll do that again. They sent me an email asking for feedback. When I submitted the form I received an error message stating that "the business is inactive." Hmmm, seems like the error message was correct. read more

I'm so sorry to say this but I agree that they are not careful enough for repairs. I asked for a small repair at the neckline of nice sweater. It was a tiny hole -- I should have done it myself. It came back stretched and rippled around the neckline -- clearly someone had stretched it (hard) over a darning roll or something. Now, instead of lying flat and crisp, the neckline is stretched and has a big gap. its a shame -- careless. Their cleaning services seem good and they are friendly. read more

`HORRENDOUS. My boyfriend used Dependable for months and would drop off suits, shirts, the works.... and they'd just come back okay. Stains would not be completely removed, not enough starch... not all items being returned... Things of this nature. The icing on the cake? Dropped off a vintage Burberry Trench purchased second hand to be spruced up and it was delivered to me in the EXACT same condition. $18 for absolutely nothing? I paid it thinking the trench was a lost cause as the girl working there told me they tried but could not remove the staining around the collar and cuffs. BULL. After having excellent experiences at State House Cleaners on Bowdoin in Beacon Hill, I dropped it off on a Wednesday ($5 Wednesdays!!) and said what the hell, I'll have them give it a shot. Less than dependable... I dropped off two jackets and was told to return Monday morning to pick them up. When I arrive they are unable to find my jackets and I was in a hurry so I left to return later. I assumed that they would have found them in that time, but when I returned that evening they still hadn't located my lost items! I waited for another 10 minutes until finally they found them. SO disappointed that this place has really fallen. They did some decent interior renovations a few months back, and since then the "Dependable" part has left the building. Three of my last four orders have gotten messed up. My first, a request to have a hem on my slacks fixed, never was done despite talking through it with the associate. Fortunately, they didn't charge me, so no harm but frustrating. My second order took four business days when it shouldn't take any longer than two. My third order was fine, thank gawd My fourth order, picked up today, only delivered 3 of my 5 shirts, despite them all being dropped off at the same time. There used to always be at least two women working, and often a third. Every time I've been in for the last three months - there's only been poor Kimberly, running ragged trying to keep up. Today, while I was in line, she called her coworker to ask where she was and to get back to the store. Meanwhile, there are bags in the after-hours drop area, piles of shirts on every counter, bags everywhere behind the counter, etc. It's only a matter of time before they lose my stuff and/or I get my order back with a blouse in place of one of my shirts... Depenable Cleaners is definitely dependable! I dropped off my work suit here (and I had to rush to make the same-day cutoff time) and when I came to retrieve it, it was in like-new condition! They even collected a few knick-knacks I'd left in the pockets and presented them in an envelope. Excellent! I would definitely come here repeatedly, especially at these prices -- dry cleaners in Chicago would charge upwards of $20 for suits, and not even have them ready the same day! read more

I've been a steady once-a-week customer at Dependable Cleaners for about one year. I typically bring in several shirts to be laundered, as well as slacks for dry cleaning. I have also used them to clean a large wool area rug, coats and scarves. The front desk staff is always very courteous and helpful -- ALWAYS -- and this matters to me a great deal. I have always been satisfied with the outcome and have never had a problem with missing or uncleaned items. You really can't beat the one-day turnaround! I recently switched to the VIP (red/pink) service because it is just a tad more convenient -- but just a tad, no more. I didn't notice any change in the accuracy of my order when I switched to VIP (my orders have always been correct!). I'm deducting a star for the parking situation, general congestion of the area, and fact that it's no bargain. I walk to Dependable, but if you were to drive, parking sucks. You're stuck with hunting for a meter on Clarendon or Newbury (=busy). That being said, I've seen people just throw their hazards on and run in (and yes, it's usually pretty fast). It does seem a bit expensive, but isn't everyplace in the city? They sent a great coupon book in January and I already saved a bunch on that wool rug I mentioned (which I had to drive to pick up, and found a meter just fine). read more

Ok, I'm conflicted as I write this review. I've always had great cleaning results from Dependable, they've handled stains like pros and sew on buttons that I've left in pockets and forgotten were even in there. And they are super quick, which I really appreciate. My problem lies in the VIP bag. It seems like a great idea... you can drop it off or throw it in the chute, and your clothes are ready 24 hours later and your CC charged. In theory, this is wonderful (if you read my reviews you'll know that I love any transaction which minimizes contact with other human beings). But in practice? Not so much. Each time I've used the bag, I've picked up an order that either a) had someone else's items in it or b) didn't contain all of my items. Now, don't get me wrong, the staff has always been super helpful in finding my items in a timely manner (same day) and is very apologetic about it, but it's really annoying to have to make 3 trips to the dry cleaners each time I need my suits cleaned. I'd say, don't go for the VIP upsell, because it's really not more of an experience. Upside of moving back to SoCal? Drive thru drycleaning! read more

I have visited the Dorchester location a few times, but went to this one because it's easier to hit on the way home from work. I like that they don't use the toxic chemical perchlorate like most dry cleaners. I dropped off two pairs of pants to me cleaned. Nothing fancy; no problems. The turnaround time was fine and the pants look good. Note to staff: Talking on your cell phone while helping customers is extremely rude. If I needed to actually talk to you, I would have taken off another star; I probably should do this anyway but I'll be nice. read more

In the last few cycles of day cleaning (I clean a lot maybe 2 times per year), I've been really disappointed by the lack of cleaning my items have received - light spots still there, not smelling fresh at all, poor creasing/finishing. Their service, which is quite pricey, has gone down hill this past year. I'll be looking for a new spot for next round. read more

Dependable Cleaners has always been dependable. All my clothing comes back in better condition than when I drop it off. This has not been the case at numerous other cleaners (snags in sweaters, stains still present, or worse, over aggressive treatment of stains that discolor clothing). My only complaint is when they do make an error (billing), it takes forever to fix. I was overcharged $23 on a large order. After tallying up the items, the clerk apologized, and said a $23 credit would be fixed when I picked up my order. When I picked up the items, they had no recollection of our conversation, and I spent another 10 minutes explaining, adding up the ticket slips. I was told only a manager could issue the credit. I left my name and number. A few days later, the manager was out again, and I left my details again. No response. I ended up calling Quincy (Customer Service), and they apologized and quickly issued me the credit. After this debacle, I no longer go to this location, even though it is the most convenient for me. The worst service ever! They are horrible!! Do not go here. I took a brand new leather jacket to get cleaned and the leather had a hole in it when i went to pick it up. The employees at the store saw the hole and said they will show it to the manager. The manager then called and said "I don't see any problem. That's just a natural design of the leather"! Not at all dependable. Went there Saturday and dropped off 2 shirts and a pair of pants along with a bag. They said everything would be ready Tuesday night. Come Tuesday they only had 2 shirts and the pants were on a late truck. Don't worry, they would call me when they arrive. Call never happened. Went back the next day and my pants were ready but they lost the bag I had brought. No effort was spent looking for it and was told they had no record of it in the system. Essentially tough, not our problem. I will not be utilizing their services again and would highly recommend others to avoid them as well. 2 trips for 3 garments and a lost bag. Let me preface this by saying I'm the type of person who gives a 5-star rating automatically. In fact, the only time I gave an Uber driver a 4, I nearly died. I would have forgiven mixing up the address on my wash-and-fold, even thought this entailed a 15-minute wait during which I was required to fill out the same handwritten form a second time. However, charging $60 to dry-clean three tops is absurd, particularly given that they have no sequins/detailing of any sort. Two of them I typically hand-wash. I would have paid half the price to have my tops picked up and returned to my doorstep by Washio. I feel the need to warn the community against making the same mistake. read more

They took an off white silk skirt with gold embroidery and an oxidized wine stain and turned it into new. The embroidery color had washed out entirely, leaving the skirt unwearable. They redid that portion of embroidery and it's like I have a new skirt. And get this- it was less than $35! They went above and beyond for me without me having to ask and it was great. Since then I've told all my Boston friends about them and that they can resurrect clothing you thought was gone! read more

After we picked up the coat we found the button on the cuff fade and there are many scrtch around the botton and in the front of the coat. we speak to the store manager Karolline Minikoski through the phone and she said this is the poor quality problem of Moncler coat! and she said she has nothing to do with it. We go to the store again and the three front women said they think these problems are so small and they think is our to demage the coat before we bring in. You call me V.I.P. and I appreciate the respect. I drop it off, I pick it up. Smooth as can be. You wash, dry, and fold for 2 dollars a pound. A tan bag for the laundry, red for the dry cleanies. I don't mind giving you what you ask. For I never did learn how to fold a fitted sheet. Your employees always smile and take away my dirties. A precise return time is proffered, and I nod in acceptance. Coupons appear in my mail box and my gmail box. They enjoy the attention and the discounts. You are dependable and oh so close. This place leaves much to be desired... I left seven pairs of pants for them tailor. When I came to pick them up, they couldn't find them and I had to wait approximately 40mins while they looked for them. Eventually they found them (after the woman who originally took my order came in for work). In the end the tailor never touched them. I just closed my account with them. DO NOT come here with anything of value. After weeks of trying to get a hold of FABIANA in "customer service" she admitted that my $800 coat shrunk in some places and asked if I wanted it "blocked" to fix it. A perfectly shaped coat was left to get cleaned, I asked for the coat to be replaced not stretched back to an awkward shape. FABIANA was extremely rude talking over me in an aggressive tone and IMPOSSIBLE to talk to. The coat was not replaced after over 6 months of emails to CARLYN PARKER the Director of Operations. CARLYN is extremely unprofessional in the way she handles business and seemed to be on vacation every time I called or left an email. Ironically, I've never actually had anything cleaned here, but I did have them alter 5 pairs of pants for me. I wasn't able to come in when the tailor was available, so they had me bring in a sample of pants that fit me well and they tailored the new pairs to match. I was in and out in under 5 minutes for both drop-off and pick-up and the pants fit perfectly! Dependable? Yes, indeed! read more
