Last week, mere hours after Ducey lifted the mask mandate in AZ, Life Time sent an email to members saying that they would no longer require kids in the kids club to wear a mask, and that members wouldn't have to wear masks while ACTIVELY working out and being socially distant. Screen shot of the email is attached. I went this morning and not a single "requirement" is being enforced. First, I watched while the front desk attendant told a member in front of me that masks were just "recommended" so she walked in with no mask and was then told by the same front desk attendant "it's great to see your smile!" She didn't wear a mask once while in the gym. Second, while previously they had turned off every other cardio machine to account for social distancing, all cardio machines have now been turned back on. It's pathetic to me that a gym, one of the most at-risk establishments for covid, is requiring less from its patrons than a grocery store. To clarify, they are doing literally nothing to mitigate the spread of covid. Even though k-12 schools still require kids to wear masks, they don't. Even though their email SAYS they're enforcing safety protocols, they're not. We spend nearly $500 a month do our family membership, and we will be canceling today and taking our business elsewhere. If you feel any sort of desire to keep yourself or your family safe during covid, I suggest finding somewhere else to go. read more

I am a paying member and was trying to bring a guest, the guest link was being weird and Jeremy at the front desk was so rude and zero help while we were trying to get her a guest pass. For how much members pay, just because I'm a young girl doesn't mean I should be treated any less than the white males coming in... other than that I love Jose's classes! Also alpha strength and barre are amazing. But like I said Jeremy and the other gal at the front desk really need to be nicer. This gym is clean most of the time for some reason alone thought it was ok to shave in the steam room and leave hairs and slides razor on the bench. Besides that it's been great for me. The yoga helps get my day started and the cold plunge is a must. The sports massage and chiropractic office inside is very convenient and skilled. read more

I love this club. It is absolutely stunning and the moment you enter you feel the elite vibe. It's the best place to recharge, invest in your health, and find good community. Where ever I visit in the club whether it's the sushi lounge, kid's department, spa, and cafe I feel all the warmth from the staff. It was so easy to get connected even to the trainers who are all over!! I'm also always seeing people cleaning and keeping up with the demands of such a spectacular place. This location is supposed to be the highest level lifetime (Diamond) in Arizona and is probably the worst I've ever been to in the US. This place is falling apart, and no one is maintaining it/addressing the issues even when told about them, including the front desk, management, instructors, and even corporate. The GM cares more about the pool parties than the facility itself. I travel for work, so I've been to lifetimes in California, New York, Minnesota, and other locations in Arizona as well, so I know what they should look like and the standards they should have. This location is by far the worst maintained one I've ever been to, and this is supposed to be one of the nicest ones, and I hate to say that because I've always been a fan of Lifetime and have never had an issue until this location. Raised member fees: They recently increased the member fee, which is fine. I get it and have no problem with that as long as the money goes toward fixing and running the facility. Since the increase, the facility has been in the worst condition it's ever been. AC issues: The facility is not even four years old, maybe three years old, and the AC has broken down each summer since I've been a member. Spin class AC/Vent issues: The AC or vents to the spin class must not work because, in the summer, the room steams up the mirrors, and it has to be at least 90+ degrees in the room. They have no fan and, at one point, cracked the door with a floor fan to try and cool it off because they have no fan inside. We've complained to the GM, who even takes the class, and nothing has been done, so I refuse to take spin classes over the summer because it's too hot. Sauna falling apart - The lights inside don't work, the wood has been falling off/apart, and it's been this way for over a year. Steam room holes/mold: There are two holes where lights used to be on the ceiling inside the steam room, and you can see plywood and insulation exposed and mold growing. The holes have been like that for at least three months, and I told the front desk people about it three weeks ago because after months of it not getting fixed and still nothing. Polar plunge: It either has barely any water, so it can't be used or looks like some pissed in it. read more

Weird place, waitlist to join. Signed up for a waitlist and got a call later asking some random irrelevant questions. Questions I asked - What is the estimated time of completion for the waitlist. Response - "I don't know" Then the guy went on to talk about maybe if I sign up for a tour they give priority to those people for some reason but he didn't say anything definite. Modern and spacious. Since it is pretty new, it's much more updated than other Life Times in the area. The rooftop pool is landscaped very nicely and has great views. I only wish it had a hot tub outside since there's such a nice view. The indoor one is nice but it's always nice being outside. I received a new benefit through my employer called Gym Pass so I have been going to Lifetime Biltmore for a couple of weeks. I have been impressed with the cleanliness, the availability of added machines that I did not have access to at LA fitness. The energy here also gets me going each time I walk in, which is an added bonus. I haven't taken any classes yet, but will be doing so soon. The only negative I have noticed is that the air circulation from the air conditioning needs improvement. Depending on where you are at, you could be comfortable or breaking out in a sweat. I'm not sure if that is by design, or a design flaw. read more

These 2 people are Leaders and I can see why Lifetime hired them. I was looking for a new gym to join recently. Instead of just walking in and asking questions, I decided to schedule a tour of the facility. I arrived early and was greeted by a staff member named Val. His customer service skills and just energy and vibe were impeccable and instantly had me feeling like I was a part of the Lifetime family, and had me wanting to learn more. He gave me a tour of the entire gym while also showing interest in me as an individual. After the tour he was able to answer all of my questions and I became a member right on the spot. Every time I visit the gym to workout and he is there, he greats me with a big smile and is such a joy to start and end any workout experience with. If you are on the fence about a new gym, visit Val at Lifetime fitness on Camelback in Phoenix. The gym is always very clean and organized. There always seems to be enough equipment to get a full workout without worrying about too many people on the machines, even during the busiest times of day. The rooftop pool feels like you are on vacation which is a perfect treat after any workout. The cafe always has what you need with such great staff. Locker room as are always stocked with all of your personal needs. The classes are my favorite part of the experience at Lifetime. Each instructor brings a unique personality to their classes and it makes for a great atmosphere and workout every single time. It has been life changing since I've started going to Lifetime. I now call it my second home. I would highly recommend this gym to anyone looking for a new lifestyle change to a better and healthier future! read more

Cash Grab...This email was sent to members on 5/20/22 telling them about rate hikes starting 6/1/22. They also have a policy of 30 days notice to cancel a membership. This means they are going to get a month of dues at the higher rate from every member that wants to cancel. That should be criminal. 2 Stars "could've been better" is actually a really accurate way of describing this gym. Lifetime Biltmore is pitched as an "athletic country club" but it falls short in many areas. As a founding member (joined in September 2019), I was very excited to learn that a Lifetime club would be opening near my office. We were pitched on an ultra luxury facility to open in December 2019. Well, we waited and waited. Finally the club opened in March 2020. Things were alright for the brand new Diamond level club. However, over the next 3 years, things have obviously taken a turn for the worse. Parking is an absolute nightmare. Finding a spot takes a while and you will have to compete with all of the other members frantically driving in circles hoping for a spot. The saunas and cold tub are consistently out of order. When they are working, they are usually overfilled. Nothing like having to stand the entire time your in the sauna. **One comment not necessarily related to the club but I find it absolutely disgusting when grown men come out of the saunas covered in sweat and go right into the cold tub. I am now bathing in your sweat and it's gross** Back to the club, somedays there are more towels on the floor of the locker room than on the actual shelves. The actual number of staff on the gym floor has been getting less and less. The machines at the Peoria location are actually newer and better than this location, which is weird because this is supposed to be the luxury option. I haven't tried much of the food here. Something about ordering sushi at the gym just doesn't feel right. The smoothies are pretty good. Val in member services has been helpful and a shining star throughout our membership. March 2023, Lifetime has notified us that they plan to raise our monthly rate by 25%. I was nearly ready to cancel prior to this as I just didn't see the value in the gym. This money grab has made my decision much easier. I wish Equinox would open a gym in Phoenix. TLDR: What started out as a promising gym has gradually gotten worse over the past 3 years and is no longer delivering the quality experience one would expect for the price tag. read more

This is an excellent place to exercise - and relax. It is extremely well run and clean, and the equipment is top-notch. Interestingly, unlike other spots, there is very little staff turnover. All of the instructors are highly competent and well trained. In particular, Gina, Jose, Melissa, Robert, Dana, Alex, Tawna, Jenn, and Jaclyn are all superlative trainers and instructors. I have been a member since it opened three years ago, and I have never heard one person utter a complaint about the instructors or the facility - only compliments. read more

Of course, dirty showers don't matter, because when the club has no hot water, who is taking showers. The members can be dirty and stink just like the club. Biltmore is beyond amazing, the staff is always smiling and friendly. We live 45 minutes away and still come to this gym 3 days a week! The events there are unreal from the fire and ice event to the luau, with aerobic dancers and aerial yoga. You expect to go there to workout but come out of there feeling more than refreshed. The yoga teachers are all incredible, the rooftop pool is better than most resorts in the area. We get the chance to charge up our Tesla while working out! So many benefits, We have made so many friends on a Saturday at the pool. This is what a true gym is! Rock on lifetime. read more

DANCE JAM FOREVER!!! I love this gym, but this review concerns the classes they offer. I used to be EXTREMELY shy about dancing. My entire life I felt awkward af dancing. On a lark, I went to a Dance Jam class and hung out in the back. I figured I wouldn't be the worst person. I loved it. I didn't feel judged at all. The moves required a bit of concentration at first, so everyone is watching the teacher. This is actually a great setup, especially for newcomers who are a little shy like me. I got better after coming to a few classes, and I started learning the choreography pretty well. Eventually I started to get more confidence, and now I like to be in the front of the class. For some reason I'm able to totally focus on the teacher when I'm in front, and I truly stopped caring about what people think about me. Denise Wise is an amazing teacher and person. She's like the Bob Ross of dance teachers. She's extremely fun and easy going, and she used to dance for Janet Jackson, so she's a really great dancer. Beth is wonderful too. She does the Mixxed Fit classes and her choreography and music is really energetic and super fun. Luis is a new teacher and I highly recommend his classes. The choreography is fantastic and his vibe is wonderful. Jose is also extremely legit. Super fun and great moves. Dance is an amazing workout. I feel like I'm not really working out because it's so fun. Plus, it's actually been a wonderfully positive change in my life. I overcame my shyness about dancing, and I dance in the front of the class now. If you're reading this, I hope to see you in the front row one day read more

I saw some of the reviews and had to chime in. The Lifetime in the Biltmore is AMAZING!!! The concierge is all about their members and great service. Kayla, the manager whenever I see her is engaging with her team, talking to customers, and making sure the gym is in tiptop shape. If ever I have a concern she listens and takes action. The trainers are also on point! I can't say enough about Aaron, however the other trainers are helpful if I have questions. It's great to see the staff working out alongside the customers at various points in the day (I work out at different times). I see reviews saying "the gym is crowded" but what gym isn't crowded before work, right after work, or on a Saturday morning?! I've been a member since last year and it's become my second home. If you aren't REALLY into fitness and having an overall healthy lifestyle the price point likely isn't for you another gym with less amenities will suite you just fine, but for me it's LIFETIME all the way!!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE this place!!! How could I forget the rooftop pool!!! The views, the food, the drinks, the service AND the events to build community amongst the members and their networks! This club is not worth the money. Their concern is increasing revenues instead of taking care of the revenue they have. Instead of putting in a sushi bar to generate revenue why not hire good people to keep the facility clean and well-maintained? The easy solution for them is to raise the dues. I joined Life Time back in the 90s and watched my dues increased substantially over the years. I understand it cost more today to operate a club than it did in the 90s I would only ask that the club I'm paying for is clean and well-maintained. My family and I toured this facility, wanting to sign up. For $400+ a month for us to sign up, I think I expected a little more. Our guest services girl was great, with a ton of detail and answered all of our questions- but for a "luxury" gym, I really hated that it's carpeted (carpet holds smell, and makes it look dated) I know this is a personal preference. The cold plunge was broken, bathrooms were out of order, it was hard to find parking, the areas we wanted to try out were so full that we really just did cardio on our guest pass- so I left disappointed. I didn't see anything at Lifetime that I couldn't get at another gym for 1/4 of the cost. We're gonna maybe tour a different location and see if it fits us better since there are in fact locations that offer more and are larger. read more

Take note of the negative reviews below mine... there is a lack of leadership and staffing on the housekeeping/repair side of the house at this club, management really does nothing to fix it other than raise our rates. Clearly, the feedback from myself and other members goes 100% unnoticed even though they have a canned reply to all the negative reviews. Instead of "continuing the conversation" with members you should be talking to staff or finding new staff. At your rates, members expect top quality. read more

Horrible customer service and technology on app. Put membership on pause due to calf injury , the app failed and I was billed. Asked for some help and was told I needed a Dr note for them to assist me. Am I in 3rd grade gym class? I sent emails to facility and corporate execs including CEO and got zero response. I cancelled my membership and got no attempt at retention. They don't care about the Individuals just the monthly $'s. You would be better off at a local gym that cares or chain at 30 a month with no service vs 230 a month with no service. Lifetime is a joke. read more
