Coach Grace is absolutely AMAZING! She is so attentive! She helps with form, breathing, & pushes you! I did the hyrox workout with my friend who I'm doing the race with & Grace was so kind to answer all of our questions! Will definitely be back to take one of her classes again even though I struggled read more

Big fan so far of this gym! I have been attending the group fitness classes 3x per week and love them. The workouts are able to be done as hard or easy as you want and you leave drenched in sweat! The owners and staff and so welcoming and friendly! read more

I booked a semi private strength training class through ClassPass, to help get a foundation of knowledge for strength training. The class had about 6-8 people, and operated in a circuit. All of the exercises were written on the whiteboard for reference, and there was a giant countdown clock to keep track of time left. On each rotation, you moved with a partner, so if you get lost you can see what your partner was doing. The owner Tony was so chill but very helpful! He gently guided if anyone's form was off, made a point to remember your name, and also complimented or provided motivation from time to time - to keep you going. I was worried seeing "strength" that it would be a bro environment or super fit people only, but there were all genders and levels of strength. The environment felt very safe and welcoming. Lastly, the workout was challenging in the best way, I WILL be sore tomorrow. Definitely would recommend, I will be back! read more

I am so glad I found this gym! I attend the semi private sessions and always get a kick butt workout. I appreciate the thoughtful warmups, programming and the fact that the trainers are sticklers about form. Classes are in a circuit format and they do a great job of mixing up the exercises while focusing on functional movement. Lastly, I love the aesthetic of the gym. It's clean, the equipment is nice and they play motivating music. I really can't say enough good things, it's an awesome place to workout. read more

Working out at Team Forty-Four was life-altering (yes that's a bit dramatic but it gets the point across). I felt like I had a true blue community there, as trainers, owners, and co-members made me feel incredibly welcomed and were engaged in the process. If there was an exercise I was not comfortable with, the trainers were knowledgeable enough to determine how to provide me with alterations. They made exercising fun, which has given me the momentum to continue to make healthy decisions in all aspects of my life. As I search for new places to work out in my current location, the aim is to find a place like this. read more

I love this place! I've been working out here for almost 2 years. The trainers are very knowledgeable and welcoming. I love that I get weight training and some cardio in one class. I feel stronger than I ever have in my life (I'm 46) and have never been hurt or overly sore from working out here. They know what they're doing. A very welcoming gym for women. I recommend Team 44 to everyone! read more

I'm writing this review a day after my first class at Team Forty-Four and my whole body hurts. I got my butt kicked in the best way possible! I've been to many, many fitness studios in the valley. I get bored easily with my fitness routine, so I like to switch it up and try all types of workout types and classes. However, it's rare to find gym owners and staff members as welcoming as Tony and Dexter were. Tony, the owner, immediately greeted me upon entering and made me feel very welcome. The studio is very eclectic and modern. You can tell it was designed by someone who has experience in interior decorating. Dexter led the workout class, which is semi-private, meaning it's often only 1-5 people in the class at a time, ensuring you get individualized attention. I broke my elbow a few months ago and am still working on getting my strength back. Dexter was understanding and offered modifications for me as needed. He pushed me when i needed to be pushed, and I got an amazing workout in. I also didn't feel pressured to sign up for additional classes or a membership, which is a big turnoff for me when fitness studios do this. It's safe to say i will be back to Team Forty Four! read more

Amazing functional weight training classes. I know a lot about form/lifting/functionality and these guys know what they're doing!! I have had nothing but great experiences with the coaches here. Be prepared to have your butt kicked ! I also love the small class size. It gives the coaches ample time to help, fix form, and offer variations. read more

Strength & conditioning at its best! Team 44 is the only place to go! I never imagined that I could love going to a gym until I stepped into Team 44. Great classes and friendly people! I originally started at Team 44 because I won a free trial through a local raffle event. I didn't plan on staying past my trial because my old gym was less expensive and closer to where I live, but 5 months later I am still at Team 44 every day. From the second I walked in as a new member, I felt comfortable and welcomed. This is something that is not a given as a woman in a gym setting, but the trainers at Team 44 make everyone feel capable and confident, no matter their age, gender or fitness level. They engage with you on a personal level and you can see how much they care about all of their clients, both inside and outside the gym. Seeing the same clients and trainers in the gym every day forms a strong sense of community, and I have made good friends with people who were strangers to me when I started. Before joining Team 44, I was working out most days at the gym, but didn't have a very regimented routine. As a former college athlete, I was used to working out with teammates and trainers and found that missing after I graduated. Joining Team 44 has brought back the challenge into my workouts, with a strong emphasis on correct form and technique. Not only my strength, but also my confidence level in my workouts has drastically improved since I started at Team 44. I would highly recommend this gym to anyone I know! Tony, Dexter, Neema and Mark are the best trainers in the game. read more

I discovered Team 44 Fitness while going to an introductory yoga class next door at Metta Yoga. I am so glad I stopped in and checked it out. I was a competitive athlete growing up and in college, however, all work and no play had made Tommy a fat boy. I spoke with Tony and decided to sign up for some personal training sessions (he also does small group sessions). His studio is very inviting- not your typical gym full of weight machines. Most exercises involve resistance, balance, etc. I find almost all of the exercises fun to do. I have been going twice a week and just completed my 7th session. Tony has also helped me with shopping lists and healthy eating habits. He gets a medical history before starting and is very good about stretching and injury prevention. He is always positive and pushes you to your limit, but never too far. If you want to change your lifestyle, get fit and have fun while doing it- I highly recommend Tony and Team 44. I had mixed feelings while writing this- I want this place to stay small and intimate and accommodating to my crazy schedule, but Tony is great and deserves to have a thriving business. Check it out, you won't be sorry. As a testament I just signed up my dad and wife for some personal training with Tony also. Tony and Team 44 Fitness gets my highest rating! read more

Tony is both an inspiration inside and outside of the gym. I have been working with Tony for 5 years and his unique approach to fitness has aided me in journeys both in weight loss and marathon training. Tony listens to each individual and their unique training needs. When I first began working with Tony I was in need of special types of exercises as I was nursing a back injury. Tony helped to strengthen other muscles and taught me useful stretching techniques that I use now on a regular basis and am now living back pain free. I am often in need of motivation, especially when training for an endurance event. Recently, through Team Forty Four, I have begun working with other gym attendees on opposing gym days to train for a 5k. Tony has helped to facilitate creating this team and provided us with a practice schedule to aid us in attaining our goals. Tony is supportive of my goals as an athlete but also as a team mate to others in the community. Working out at 8am a few days a week is now fun for me, the gym is energetic but individualized in a way that I have never experienced. I recommend both Tony and the Team Forty Four mentality to anyone looking to improve their fitness! read more

I've been working with Tony since April 2012 and I can say without hesitation that he helped me change my life. From day one, Tony was interested in my life habits and what I hoped to achieve by working with him. He was supportive and energetic and his facility is a welcoming environment. He is available to help track my progress through various forms of communication, including an app that allows me to input meals and workouts. We set long and short term goals together, always discussing what activities I enjoyed doing so that the goals were attainable. He would "check in" and if we needed to readjust, he helped me to that. I never doubted his total commitment to my personal goals and he maintained that even when I would falter. I could be open and honest with him as he was never discouraging or shaming. He always believed in me. Tony made the nutrition aspect simple and doable and I soon discovered that eating healthy was not an insurmountable task reserved for celebrities with personal chefs. Tony understands and more importantly can explain that it's a process and that if I kept up with the process, the results would come. He was absolutely correct, of course. I feel and look better than I have in a decade. -Michelle J. read more

My wife bought me a gift certificate approximately two years ago to go and find a trainer. After looking online in my area, I choose to try Tony Rice Fitness, now Team Forty-Four Fitness. I started with one-on-one sessions and eventually graduated to team/group classes. Fitness and exercise have been a part of my life since I was very little. Tony Rice made exercise fun again! I got tired of trying to come up with routines at the gym and not getting the most from my workouts. Tony changed all that and also added nutrition assistance. I now have the nutritional knowledge to backup my workouts that allow for me to see improvements. I would strongly recommend Tony Rice and Team Forty-Four to anyone who is looking to improve their body and nutrition. He will change your life...that's a promise! read more

I am a 66-yr. old distance runner. i joined Team 44 over 3+years ago. Tony, Neema and Dexter set the tone for the best training I have ever had. They are professionals at every turn, always paying attention and demonstrating sincere interest in every client, no matter the ability level. I marvel at their ease of modifying a workout to fit my individual race schedule or injuries. Their talents helped me recover from a January 2018 injury and allowed me to run both the Boston Marathon and Big Sur Marathons the following April. The class sizes are small, insuring plenty of trainer concern on proper technique vs. speed, # of reps or max weight. Each workout is unique and contains some new element or movement. And you get to work out with some really great people! Do yourself a HUGE favor and give Team 44 a try! read more

Neema is the best trainer I've ever worked with. Knowledgeable, great energy, encouraging and keeps the workouts interesting and challenging. Definitely the best fitness studio in Phoenix. I've tried many places and I've finally found my spot. The attention, knowledge, and classes here a second to none. I came here initially before a 2 week hiking trip and trained for a few months. It was the first time on a trip like that I didn't struggle and felt stronger than I had ever before. I love that I get better and stronger every week and the classes always bring something different and interesting. The trainers here are all amazing, they are constantly helping me improve my fitness, while helping me prevent injury. I've been a member now for 3 years and I can't imagine going anywhere else. read more

Loved working with Dexter. He trained me for about 1 year before I moved. He helped me improve my flexibility, balance & core strength. I have lupus so often don't feel good, he was able to tailor a regime that worked. The gym is clean, everyone is very friendly including the clients. This was a wonderful way to spend time taking care of myself. I highly recommend the individual or group training. If I lived in Phoenix I would still be training here. read more

I have worked with several trainers but have had the best results working with Tony the past three years. His unique coaching style and small group training concept makes work outs fun and effective. With the small classes Tony has the ability to adjust workouts to each individual fitness level. I have seen him work with all different types of people and can tell you he treats everyone with respect. He will help you set realistic goals and is committed to help you reach those goals. His approach to diet and nutrition is practical & sustainable. Eating healthy has become a lifestyle not a burden! Tony is an all around great guy. He is always upbeat and positive. Seriously! I have never seen this guy in a bad mood! I also enjoy the group activities Tony schedules outside the gym like hiking, 5K's, bike rides, ect. It has been a great way to connect with other team members. I highly recommend Tony & Team 44! read more

I use to belong to a pricey resort fitness center and the instructor's would be different each time or sometimes not show up at all. I found myself working out solo most of the time, and probably doing things the wrong way. Sometimes not very motivating. After I sustained permanent injuries from a bad slip and fall, being in physical therapy for two years, not being able to sleep well, being on prescription meds, and many visits to the orthopedic doctor, I wasn't making improvements. A neighbor told me about Team 44. From the moment I stopped in to ask questions I was welcomed openly by professional trainers who are there every day, and take an interest in each individual's needs. I decided it was time for me to get better not only for my physical well-being but my overall health in general. I decided to sign up and give it a try. There was no high-pressure sales Pitch. I have been a believer in Team 44 for the past 1 1/2 years. I can do things that I was not able to do before, I am stronger every day, and I look forward to my training sessions. I can now sleep well without prescription meds. I decided to put my health in the hands of professional trainers, Tony, Neema, Dexter and Iris. Whether it's one on one training or group sessions, these professional trainers pay attention to my personal abilities. Not only can I see the results in my clothing and my overall physique, my mental attitude is more positive. I realize that there are many choices for training, but I feel I hit the jackpot with Team 44. They care about every individual and they make workouts fun. read more

I've been lucky enough to have a trainer off and on for the past 10 years and absolutely NO ONE compares to Tony or the experience I've had at Team Forty-Four. If that's not enough justification to at least try going, here's the full story... I started going to Tony last April after moving back to Phoenix and being referred by a good friend. I had gained some post-wedding weight and decided to try it out. His classes are 4 people in a private gym (or you can do personal training) and I was a little nervous the first time because the four people in my class were of VERY different fitness levels. I consider myself a pretty fit person and like a hard workout. There was someone in the class that was about 60. It didn't matter. Tony made sure that the workout was customized for every individual in the class and you still got the attention of a personal workout. Needless to say, I DEFINITELY got a great workout and started melting pounds away and my husband started working out too. Tony had us set up goals, and through an app, helped plan our non-training day workouts too. We also talked about food habits and improvements to be made, but there was never any guilt if you missed a workout or ate a not so good for you meal. Tony is ALWAYS positive. My husband and I got pregnant two months into working out with Tony and now 6 weeks away from being due, I still am working out. Tony has stayed ahead of me knowing what exercises I should/shouldn't do, what muscles need more strength preparing for new baby, etc. I still workout in a group setting with some very fit people, but it's custom for me. I can honestly say, even after a horrible first trimester I'm still close to being in the best shape I've ever been in because of Tony! In addition to the workouts, Tony is awesome at setting up weekend events (e.g. hikes, bike rides, runs, batting cage outings, etc.) and you really feel like you're a part of a workout community ranging from 13 year olds, to 60 year olds and everything in-between that are always full of positive energy and fun! The results just happen without you noticing how hard you're actually working! I've already recommended Tony to all of my friends and family in the area and wouldn't hesitate to recommend more! read more
