Signed up for LA Fitness less than 24 hours ago and already canceling. A trainer, Tommy Murillo, called to schedule my first session and was shockingly rude and dismissive. As a postpartum mom trying to get back into fitness, this was the exact opposite of the support and professionalism you'd expect. It felt condescending, impatient, and completely lacking basic respect. That first interaction says everything and this one was enough to make me walk away immediately. Do better. read more

Signed up for a membership and I get hounded by some personal trainer named Tommy. Let me know he's a kinesiology major and some big shot high level athlete to try and sway me more towards his training. I respectfully said no and he keeps on going about how I'll hit a plateau and that he's just so great at what he does. Mind you I haven't even gotten to check in yet, it's been 9 hours since I signed up for the gym. If it wasn't for friends that I have that go there I'd cancel before even getting a work out in. I can't complain! I came to LA Fitness from Lifetime, so I had to keep an open mind. This LA Fitness is quite large, with all the machines you need for an effective workout. I haven't tried the classes, I use ClassPass instead. The classes seem to have a decent amount of people attending them! There is a lap pool (the bathrooms smell like chlorine because of it), a basketball area, racquetball space, stretching room, locker rooms... and it's kept very clean. The gym can get quite busy during peak hours making it harder to get to the machine you want, so be aware of that. There is also a smoothie counter! I have not gotten a smoothie, I'm not sure how expensive it is, but it seems rare for someone to be getting something. read more

Has anyone else at the Camelback location experienced being forced to get out of the pool when maintenance comes to clean the pool? When asked what the cleaning schedule is management says there is none and nothing will change. Surely, a schedule would allow members to plan. This has happened to me three times recently. Group fitness Destroyed my shoulder . Zero care . I am nursing myself back to health. But the club keeps making money

La fitness is great for what it provides. Descent amounts of machines , sauna and pool. The only reason I gave it 3 stars is due to the antics on the basketball court. Too many tough guys and un-drafted prospects. On multiple occasions it turns from basketball to UFC push up off match. If you're older and can afford it, I'd recommend another gym like Lifetime or play in an organized league. read more

This place is horrendously badly managed. Sauna and jacuzzi are constantly breaking down and out of service for extended periods of time, when they are "repaired," they fall apart within days. Pool and jacuzzi are dirty, water murky, sediment on the bottom of both, never properly cleaned and maintained; or, they are so overchlorinated that fumes burn patrons' eyes and create a huge white bubble layers. They have been hit by Maricopa health authority a few times and they still seem to absolutely NOT care) ... clocks in change room more often than not have dead batteries and don't work ... front desk staff is hit and miss: a few are really nice and welcoming, most others have a chip on their shoulder and angry/bored to tears face all the time. So so so disappointed - it's not even close to what it was when it opened close to two decades ago. 7th Ave 7 Camelback location is 300X better on all accounts. read more

Just not a lot of gyms overall in Arcadia so it's pretty busy no matter when you come. I spend a lot of my workout looking for an alternative exercise cause the machine or weights I want to use are taken. Also, lots of rude patrons. My complaint isn't about the actual facility it's about a trainer. My schedule fluctuates a bit, so I can't always fit into one trainers schedule. A few months ago I signed up for time with Arthur. The first ten minutes of my session he lectured me about him not wanting to work with other trainers clients, and needing patience because it was necessary for healthy BMs. Once we did start working out he had another client with us. I did say something, but I don't know if anything was done. I hope he's not there anymore! read more

The pool cleaner strikes again at LA fitness telling all swimmers to get out! We the swimmers "don't pay" according to the staff at LA Fitness, (those who are silver sneakers). I guess LA Fitness doesn't understand that to have this "perk" one must have health insurance and yup - we do indeed pay for our health insurance! So, watch your words, LA Fitness before they devour you. Unfortunately, LA fitness does not make money from the swimmers hence their very cavalier attitude towards those of us who swim laps. I assume the swimmers at 6-8am are not told to get out by the cleaning crew, too early for the vendor to come and use his "authority" to push swimmers out - especially, when we do not pay!! I do not know of any other entity/club in Phoenix who allows the cleaning techs to tell the swimmers when they can swim. Certainly Lifetime Athletic does not have this policy nor do the YMCA's have this policy nor any of the other swim clubs such as The Village. I must be confused as to who the actual customer is - certainly not the swimmer who, we can agree actually does pay. Yes, LA Fitness is being paid by the insurance companies for the "silver sneakers" members - don't let them tell you otherwise. Poor Mark R. is in a tight place - he is told what his superiors want him to push in terms of policy. Truly unfortunate as LA already has a billion dollar lawsuit on their hands. they can't afford to play this game of treating the swimmers with indifference. NO easy answers. Those of us who find another club will leave and the others will continue to tolerate the "broken system" but LA Fitness should not take anything or anyone for granted! read more

Literally does this gym even have the AC on?! Set to 80 degrees+ in the summer. It's like a swamp. It's so busy, packed all hours of the day. Machines are so close together you can actually smell the person working out next to you. Absolutely foul. Highly do not recommend this location!! read more

I hate this LA Fitness so much. IT IS ALWAYS BUSY. Waiting for machines is like waiting for lines at Disney Land. It's a gym that doesn't even have mats for its fitness classes. If you only want to go to one gym for the rest of your life come here. Where they will never let you leave. The amount of times I've had to call to cancel my membership is more than anything should be. And when they finally took my membership away they still charged for my kid who I guess has to go in person with me to cancel there's. How in the world does that make sense. They also lied when I canceled my membership I ask to make sure I will not get charged anymore and they said yes you shouldn't get charged. This has been such a nightmare that finally I had to get a new card and had to go through my bank to ask for a refund. read more

I had to get a quick workout while in Phoenix, and this LA Fitness is what you expect. Decent amount of equipment, I like the layout of this particular LA Fitness. I've been to at least 7 or 8 different LA Fitness and this one is rather spacious. They have several rows of cario, weight machines, free weights, and an entire back area with turf and functional equipment. Fighting a really bad sinus infection, and still in Chicago time, I woke up and was surprised to see a packed gym at 6AM. Manny Ganzela, the man of the hour, I went to LA fitness last night with my mom, left my AirPods in the most random place while working out, it was 10 pm and the gym was closing, we left and I finally realized I lost my AirPods went back and the doors were shut, I was very defeated and went back immediately at 8 am in the morning talked to three different people and they were all like "I don't know, we don't have cameras" and finally as I got angry and was about to crash out. Manny, with the presence of the G.O.A.T came out and asked are these your earbuds. Me and him talked for 10 minutes about how much he cared about when he lost his AirPods and wish it never happened to him. Well, Good Karma Struck him, he was so so nice and I will never forget Manny Ganzela. LA fitness doesnt deserve him as a Janitor, he should be in sales or front desk talking to people. Facility is clean and spacious. It's not really that busy. I haven't had to wait for cardio equipment and only slight weight for machines. Where they lack effort is on welcoming new members into the facility. There is no orientation to the facility and the equipment. There is no offer to set up a basic work out plan. You receive an appointment from the Personal Training Department however the work out you do is in the personal training area. Personal training packages average $350 a month depending on how many times you go. It's really a sales presentation and the conversation drops pretty quick after you say no. I attended a Zumba and Yoga class and both were intermediate level which it looks like all classes are. So it's difficult if you're a beginner. The instructors don't provide any instruction on how to modify to accommodate other fitness levels. The classes maybe have 10 to 15 people in a gigantic room. They would really benefit by offering Beginner classes once a week for all class types amd promote it to members. I hate to see this but it seems they care more about memberships and body count then really helping people reach their fitness goals. I am sure they have algorithms on membership sign ups, actual attendance and those who don't attend. It's a money making machine. It could be so much more. read more

Horrible customer service. Went in tonight to try out the gym. They made me go through a salesman who was not even clocked in. The front desk attendant told me to go speak with someone who was mid workout who told us that we were messing up his pre-workout ended up telling us " if you're broke just say that" like what? While I was in the sauna, my lock was cut off my locker and my bag was stolen. My wallet, keys, phone were all gone!! LA Fitness didn't even allow me to see the camera footage at all and told me it's in the hands of Phoenix PD... I highly recommend not using the locker room at this gym or best don't even go to this gym. The LA fitness security system is a joke at this location! The spin classes and instructors are great at this location, however, there is only one fan that works in the studio and with the hot Arizona heat it has become unbearable. We have complained to the front desk on numerous occasions. The instructors have complained as well and nothing has been done. Since we became members 2 + months ago this fan has never worked. I'm not sure how this is acceptable with a hot studio. Can you please buy a fan or turn down the thermostat? read more

I've been a member for six years. I've been scheduled for surgery and am trying to get things done before that happens. I recently renewed my membership on line but could not cancel the training program was told I would have to go in to the facility and speak to Michael. i asked which hours he works and was told 9-5. Today I had a full day scheduled and went to the gym at 1:15 PM. I was told that Michael was gone until 4 and the only other person who could sign off was at lunch. iwas told I should have called before I came in (which I did) before. The person at the desk asked on of the staff to come over. He essentially said there was nothing I could do and would have to come back again. So I said well I could just cancel my membership asking I could renew on line but not cancel the training. He response was "Go ahead" so that's exactly what I plan to do. I've looked at other reviews and have to say what good is all of the other equipment if that's the attitude of the staff? read more
