I recently turned to yoga for deep stretching and strengthening. What I discovered is that it's so much more than that. For 95 minutes I'm in the moment calming my mind while challenging my body. I went to this studio for the first time last night and took their Yin class! i'm used to Hot Yoga so this was a little different! we held positions for minutes at a time and used props to help situate our bodies. I was a little apprehensive before the class but during the class i got such a deep tissue stretch it was so amazing! I have a month pass and i'm going to try to test out all of their classes! i would definitely not mind switching to this studio if i like the other classes as well! (in hot yoga i have to wash my hair more often and i hate doing that... haha) definitely try it out!!! also I spoke with allie on the phone and before/after class! she answered all my questions and was super helpful! read more

I love this studio, the staff, the vibe, the decor! NAMASTE! A friend and I found out about them because they hosted Bend & Brew at The Yard in Phoenix. After each class, they gave us a free class for their studio. Awesome! I've recently gotten into yoga and have learned that I'm not into meditating or chanting or any of the "feely" stuff. I really just like seeing what my body is capable of and getting a good workout. That's what I like about Ironwood. They are so chill! The energy and vibe is very positive, but their style is modern and current. They laugh, aren't super serious and encourage you to try things you're not familiar with. Also, I have found a lot of places have "Intermediate" or "Level 2" classes, but never really felt I learned anything new or challenging, in other words they really didn't differ from a beginner class. Not the case with Ironwood! Their Level 2 was truly a step up and I love it! Definitely check them out! 5 stars all around! :) read more

This studio is absolutely beautiful. I guess the owner's boyfriend builds furniture or something, so the whole place is filled with amazing wood work. The schedule is kind of sparsely populated, so that's no bueno. The staff is friendly and the classes are small. read more

I fell in love with Ironwood studios the first day I arrived and my love has only grown since. Leah, the owner, is amazing. She's got a beautiful heart. She's creative, strong, gentle and funny and these vibes carry throughout her studio and into her work. Shes got a great mix of other yoga instructors. This is an amazing new yoga studio! I cannot say enough great things about it and the owner Leah. I found out about Ironwood when they teamed up with The Yard for 'Bend and Brew' classes last month - an hour of yoga and a "free" beer for $10 bucks! I paid for three classes and was only able to attend two and Leah was very accommodating and refunded me the third class I couldn't attend. A friend and I went to three classes at the studio as well and I was blow away by how beautiful the space is! It's captivating. I really love that they encourage you to be yourself and have fun. Every instructor we had was incredibly talented, kind, and accepting. There is no "judgy" feeling like I have experienced at other studios. And they're not super hippy yogi's either that use gongs or make you chant... It is a really welcoming environment. Each class we attended was phenomenal, I always left feeling better than when I walked in. I liked that the flow was a little quicker than I had been used to, it was a great workout to get your heart rate up and challenge yourself while maybe learning a new pose or perfecting some you already have in your practice. They have an offer for your first 30 days for $30 so you can check it out to see if it's for you! Drop in classes are $16. The only downside for ME is that the location is just too far from where I live to make this my yoga-home, otherwise I would want to be there everyday! read more

This is a terrific little studio tucked into a shopping mall at 7th St and Butler. I grew up in Sunnyslope and walked by this place on my way to school for years. In fact, our first house was down the street but I digress. I purchased a sweet deal on the website and took many of the classes there. Did Restorative with Brittany, Basics with Briana(?) as well as a Meditation Lab. The space is very nice full of beautiful ironwood furniture and the yoga space has nice flooring, prop storage and exposed block. Decent sound system and cool vibe. Being a Hatha teacher this is a different style than I am uses to but sticking with the basics were great. I learned a lot that I have incorporated into my own practice. Only small complaint - the temp was a skosh cool but then again I am a hot Hatha teacher. read more

I just love this studio! The place, the people, and the practice! Last November, my husband and I canceled our gym membership and we were looking for another form of workout to add to our hiking routine. A friend had recommended that I get back into yoga, so I used Yelp to search for a yoga studio around our area and found Ironwood Yoga Studios. It was close to work and close to home, so it was a perfect fit logistically. My husband and I tried a weeknight Foundations (Level I) class and loved it. Owner Leah checked us in and got us situated - they even let us borrow mats our first class because ours were so bad. The class was a nice mix of genders, ages, and skill levels. Our instructor Nicole was very knowledgeable about yoga and provided some educational nuggets of why we do certain things and where they are leading. We fell in love with the studio, the instructors, and the way our bodies we're feeling during our 30-day trial and we have been coming ever since. I can't believe I have not yet written a review for this yoga studio aka my happy place. I started going to Ironwood over two years ago, after hearing several of my friends buzzing about how much they loved going there. I went in for the free trial, and the moment I met the owner, Leah, she instantly brought me in with open arms and made me feel part of her community. I made it through the trial and knew it could not end there. The way I feel after taking class there is incredible. I needed Ironwood classes in my life, no exceptions!!!! I figured out a way to budget in the monthly membership and it continues to serve me in the best way possible. I had broken my leg and completely gotten out of shape and out of a good fitness routine. I feel that the different types of classes offered give me a variety of what I need. There is the foundations class that I still attend every week, restorative, when I need to get that deep stretch, and now a new type of class called Kundalini, that has helped me tap into a deeper spiritual connection to myself and my practice. Aside from Leah, the rest of the teachers and staff are pure gems. I pinch myself for finding this place and all the amazing blessings that it continues to bring into my life. I couldn't recommend a business more! Try it out and I know you will become part of this loving, creative, respectful community. Plus, you don't need to be a "yogi" to start. This studio provides a completely ideal yoga experience. The studio is aesthetically beautiful, incorporating natural and artistic elements. All the staff members and instructors are friendly, helpful and welcoming. I am a complete novice when it comes to yoga, but I learned about research into emotional and physical healing being linked to breathing, opening the body, stretching.....so I wanted to try yoga for myself, and for some family members who are going through struggles with addiction and trauma. We tried the very most gentle class, Restorative, and we tried the more advanced Vinyasa class, just to get an idea of the scope of what's available. While it may not be vigorous or fast enough for people who are accustomed to regular strenuous exercise, the Restorative class was perfect for my family members who are new to regular exercise, stretching, and body awareness or body self-control. Moreover, the class gives "permission" to simply stop, be quiet, and separate from the constant running loop of mental stresses. The class offers gentle instruction and tools for body positioning towards more fully open, extended poses with deeper breathing and no muscle strain. One small suggestion I would have for this class is for the music and the "narration" to focus a little less on any kind of God or spiritual mention (even though it was very fair across several beliefs). More effective, I think, would be to focus on visualizing, with each breath and position shift, the subtle but very real physical, muscular, cellular activities occurring. If I were teaching the class, I would study a bit about the physiology during those particular positions, and help students identify and visualize the healing that is occurring---and maybe throw in some embellishing language: "Breath in deeply...see your thirsty lungs fill with oxygen. Feel your body being quenched as the oxygen is absorbed into your chest, your shoulders, your arms down to your fingertips, legs, toes....Feel your body opening to more free flow of oxygen, electrolytes and nutrition as you fully extend your arms....Be aware of your spine...feel your vertebrae release as gravity gently presses your spine into the blanket ...." For me and my struggling family members, this kind of language would greatly enhance the restorative benefits of the class. As for the Vinyasa class, we all really liked it and felt like it was definitely a good work out. It was more like what we expected from yoga, with the lovely stretching and balancing poses. We all felt the effects in our muscles the next day!! read more

I can't say enough good things about this studio. I started coming here a few months ago out of curiosity after driving past it on a regular basis. This studio is a hidden gem! Very clean, calm environment. The instructors are all super sweet, extremely personable, helpful and happy to be there. They offer a variety of classes for different levels and also help you find individual adjustments for each pose as you practice. If you're new to yoga, they do offer mat rental for $1 per class. They also have an awesome introductory package usually for newbies so you can really get a feel for the studio before making any major commitments. I have attended vinyasa classes and restorative, both which were awesome. They do not offer hot yoga here- but I'm ok with that! This place is nothing like your run of the mill studios you find in strip malls scattered around the valley. If you're yoga-curious or looking for a new studio I encourage you to stop into Ironwood and give them a try! read more
