I love BASI Pilates in Phoenix. Love. I have been a member since October of 2023 and never have I worked out at a place so wonderful. Besides being beautifully clean, everyone there is so kind and welcoming and understanding. And knowledgeable! The owner, Meagan is always watching and making sure that your form is correct and if you have an illness or injury you are healing from, she is vigilant. All the instructors I've worked with at BASI take her lead. The thing about this studio that I find extraordinary is that I immediately felt accepted and that it was absolutely okay to be human. Tried their Reformer 1 class. First time trying out Pilates class and it was great! Definitely worked out my legs, arms and shoulders. Instructor was clear and helpful in assisting me and other students with questions/confusion. Their monthly membership is about $180 for unlimited classes which seems a bit pricey but if you come 5 days a week, could be worth it! read more

Love The Pilates Barre! You must try it! I have loved classes at the Pilates Barre for over 5 years and still with it. There are different classes to choose from and it never gets old as the instructors mix things up so while building on the basics you still get something different. The instructors are awesome. All you need to do is sign up for class and get there and they will guide us through. When I had gym memberships in the past, I would just not go, but having a class I have signed up for with this awesome little community of people who come to the studio keeps me motivated. I was nervous to try a new studio 4 years ago, but from day one, The Pilates Barre been my favorite place to be. There's no better way to describe this studio than to say it feels like home. The workouts are challenging with so much variety while building on your practice. The instructors are amazing human beings - they care, encourage you, challenge you, support you, and make you laugh while kicking your butt. One of my favorite parts of the studio is the culture. Collectively, Jamie (the owner), the instructors, and classmates create so much positive energy and inclusivity in the studio. All are welcome and there are always modifications based on your limitations or injuries. They encourage you to do what your body can do that day and not to worry about what you could do yesterday or want to do tomorrow. I generally place unnecessary expectations on myself, so their daily reminders of self-care stay with me throughout the week. Since I started taking classes at The Pilates Barre, I'm more confident, stronger, energetic, and less stressed. It truly is my happy place and I'm so thankful I found this studio! read more

Hands down the best workout regimen I've done. I started Pilates after my second child and 30 extra pounds of baby weight. I found that it was really easy on my joints and I could fit it to my level (which was not that impressive). No matter your age or size Pilates will work for you. Especially, when you have an amazing team like Jamie, Hope and Megan. They tailor the classes to your needs. They get to know you and make you feel like you are part of a family. I find myself going not just for the workout but also for the relationships and comical entertainment. I truly enjoy waking up in the mornings and heading to Pilates. I've also found that since I've started there over a year ago my core strength is amazing and I am in better shape than most. Whether its hiking in the forest or walking at Disneyland I am constantly surprised at my endurance. Give it a go, you won't be disappointed. read more

I have been to 4 pliates studios before finding the Pilates Barre. I ran into Melissa last weekend and asked where she is working now. I signed up for a month membership last Sunday and have been to a class every single day since then. I love this studio. The instructors are so helpful. I am not very coordinated and they take the time to give me a modified version. I wish i had found this studio earlier as i look forward to my sessions.Feeling results already. The other students are also very nice and seem to love the instructors as much as I do! Give this studio a try and you will not regret it.... read more

This is a great place to work on your Pilates craft! I believe I was the first male to come to this studio after my wife got me a gift certificate. I was made to feel welcome and have since become a full time member and I enjoy the steadily growing lineup of classes these amazing instructors offer. Jamie the studio owner probably has some of the best verbal queuing I have ever experienced in any professional training setting! This was crucial during Covid when physical contact was not possible. I stumbled upon The Pilates Barre a few weeks after it's grand opening this January and could not be more happy that I did. As a former collegiate athlete and certified personal trainer, I've been been active in many forms of exercise for years, including strength training, yoga, various barre classes, and competitive mountain biking, but it wasn't until rehabbing from a bike injury a few years ago that I was introduced to equipment Pilates. Pilates allowed me to not only increase my total body strength in a low-impact way (I've also had two hip surgeries so really appreciate the value of this), but also gain overall body awareness, which has even included improved breathing mechanics (learning to actually breath into all of my ribs, which helped to alleviate neck tension that was contributing to chronic headaches). But when it came time to find a studio with group classes that I could make part of my weekly routine, I quickly learned that not all Pilates is created equal. Many of the studios and teachers I tried here in PHX did little more than take you from one movement to the next and help to count repetitions. Even the "high intensity" pilates classes I tried, although sweat-inducing, lacked the deeper mind-body connection and precise, methodical movement progressions that I craved. And then.... I found The Pilates Barre! Jamie is a fantastic teacher. She is focused on technique more than any one I've ever taken a class from, but does so in a fun and creative way. In the first week of class with her, I had learned at least 5-10 new exercises (despite having done reformer and tower classes 3-5x/week for the past year at a different studio!) and with one simple new verbal cue from Jamie, started feeling one of the most fundamental pilates movements in an entirely new and challenging way. I still have some restrictions on my movement from my upper cervical injury, but she's helped me to modify any exercise that I need to in order to make it safe but still effective. I also love that that's she's incorporated some components of barre methods in her teaching. I've tried a LOT of barre classes over the years (Bar Method, Pure Barre, the Dailey Method, Barre 3, Karve). Even though I never felt like I was getting the most efficient one hour workout, I loved certain barre exercises, particularly those ones focused on glutes/legs, which are the exact ones that Jamie incorporates into her barre fusion classes. Aside from helping to shape/lift your butt (which is enough reason on its own), these tiny focused movements have been a game changer for reducing my hip pain/tightness and help make me more powerful that ever on my mountain bike. I would encourage anyone to give these classes a try, not matter how experienced or inexperienced you are. You can start at any level, and the more classes you take, the more challenging it gets and the more benefit you derive. I've been going to Pilates Barre for almost a year now, off-and-on as my schedule allowed, but it wasn't until COVID-19 that these classes became my everything. Working in the spa industry, my work closed and I have been furloughed since March. While it felt like the world was ending and nothing was in our control, the one thing I had to look forward to was starting my day off with pilates. Jamie, the owner, provided online classes for us for 8 weeks while we were all on lock down. My dog absolutely loved our new routine as well and joined me on the mat every morning. Once businesses started to reopen and we slowly started back into some kind of a norm, Jamie did her best to make sure we all felt comfortable returning. The studio is clean and airy the reformers are spread out nicely. The workouts are great, but the real joy is having some kind of normalcy each day, leaving the house with somewhere to go (other than the grocery store), and best of all, getting to see other people. As I told Jamie in class the other day "it's all I have to live for right now" lol... but in all reality, It truly is what's helping to keep me sane and balanced through these unprecedented times. I just took my very first reformer class here and absolutely loved it. I took mat Pilates classes several years ago, so it's been a while since I have done Pilates. The class was challenging, but not too challenging. I got a great workout and the reformer & movements were easy to catch on to. If you've done mat Pilates, then this will be an easy transition. And I didn't get bored! The class went by very fast. Jamie was very nice & welcoming. Instructor wise, she's great. I could hear everything she said, and she was very easy to follow. For corrections, she's perfect. She walks over and will gently help correct you (aka, she doesn't make you feel stupid). I will definitely be back. Thanks! read more

This is an amazing pilates studio. Classes are great and easy on the first time pilates student. If you are looking for an instructor who is positive and helps you do the proper movements then you need to meet Jaime. She is great at explaining the reformer and the movements. I was intimidated by the reformer and tower, but Jaime taught me to trust my body and realize the machine was not going to kill me only enhance the movements. I feel my workout every time. read more

I have been wanting to take a class at the Pilates Barre since it's opened, but always talked myself out of it because I was a little intimidated by the reformer. Well, I made it my New Year's resolution to try a class this year and I am addicted. Jamie, the owner, is amazing!!! Since the first day I called her on the phone to find out more about the studio, she has been so friendly and helpful. During my first class, she showed me how to use the reformer and not be intimidated by it. If I didn't understand the movement, she always patiently demonstrated them again for me or showed me how to do the movements correctly. I was definitely sore after that first class, but gradually grew stronger and stronger. After a few weeks, I was finally able to hold my dreaded plank. Jamie always greeted me by my first name and encouraged me throughout the classes. I was able to take every class and loved them all! She always made me laugh by telling funny stories too - much needed after a long day at work. Also, the other people taking the classes were always very friendly. On a side note, the studio is clean and is decorated beautifully by these hanging bulb lights. I actually look forward to exercising. So, if you were debating about coming here please take my word and just do it...you really won't regret it! read more
