I found Surya right after my old studio closed because of the pandemic and it has been a haven for me ever since. The minute I walk into the studio, a calming peace overcomes me, and I feel as if I am in the most comfortable safe space ever. I appreciate a space that focuses on the whole person - mentally, spiritually, physically, and my instructors are all amazing - Hemal, Irene, Jenna, Caroline, Corina, Taylor, and there are more wonderful and caring teachers who truly want the best for you. My sister, fiance and I tried Surya Yoga because it was available on ClassPass, and we had a wonderful experience. The studio itself is small, but cozy and relaxing. It can be a little bit hard to find if you've never been, as it's incorporated into a church campus and the sign isn't very obvious. The class that we tried incorporated a sound bath at the end, and the yoga flow itself was very low-key and simple. We loved the sound bath, and I find that it does help with meditation and relaxation. I'm an experienced yogi, so this class felt extremely easy for me. The only downside to the class is that it was extremely full, so I didn't feel comfortable fully stretching in some positions because I didn't want to hit my neighbor. I'm sure that I'll be back again to try another class! read more

Did a drop in as I'm traveling through phoenix. The studio was locked when I arrived about 15 minutes early for class. The instructor finally arrived, nearly when class was supposed to begin. It felt very rushed, as everyone was waiting to get into the studio to set up mats and props. I like to have about 10-15 mins before class to set up and relax into the space, that's an important part of my yoga practice . They also don't have any water fill station, so you'll be stuck buying boxed water for $4 if your refilllable bottle is empty . I took a restorative yoga class. It was fine, and the instructor was fine as well. I just had a hard time relaxing in the class after the harried check in experience . The studio staff seemed pretty indifferent to me, so it wasn't a very welcoming atmosphere. Most studios I've visited make it a point to be welcoming and friendly, this studio fell short on hospitality. This studio is very small and dark, but was nicely decorated. I'm not sure if I'd return here or recommend it though, as my experience was just ok. read more

What an unbelievable treasure! I am so thankful that I found this warm, open and inviting yoga studio! Amy, the owner is masterful in putting together a full roster of wonderful offerings for all levels. The instructors are all incredibly skillful and educated and they have a heart for helping the people who attend classes to feel welcome, safe and capable. I have gotten so much more than the gentle stretching I sought the first time I tried a class!! I have tried many different things, met wonderful and interesting, nonjudgmental and kind people, found both physical and emotional healing in the incredible practice of yoga guided by such caring and talented teachers. This place is IT! I've been coming here for four months now and am so very happy that I saw this place online and went to visit. It is exactly what I need in my life from the calming yin yoga to more active sessions. Each instructor brings a different style and approach to each class. It is never redundant or boring. Surya Yoga is by far the best yoga studio I've ever tried. It's a welcoming and nurturing space, and it fosters a great community that you feel a part of from your first time there. My favorite classes are vinyasa flow, which is a great workout as well as being mentally calming (at least for me). I haven't taken a class or met a teacher that I haven't liked. In every class, you'll find a mix of beginner and proficient yogis, and you won't feel out of place, even if it's your first class. This place and the amazing teachers got me through a really tough time, and has played a key part in my emotional and spiritual journey. I've done yoga for at least 10 years, from Bikram, to hot, yoga to gentle and restorative. This place is my absolute favorite. It's such a real, down to earth studio and you can feel the positive calming vibes the moment you walk in the front door. The owner Amy is wonderful, always on top of things and keeps the place so clean (a concern of many since Covid 19) The instructors here are all amazing as well. I've been taking restorative yoga classes here for a couple weeks now and it's been wonderful. Rose is so sweet and welcoming. It's a small studio tucked away off a busy road but you would never know that once you step inside. The atmosphere is relaxing and comforting. The sound healing enhances each session. I enjoy practicing yoga here because it's close to me, love the atmosphere and they offer tons of classes and times. The teachers are pretty friendly and the class is rarely full/packed which I like. The only thing I would recommend is that I wish they offered discounted class packages. I think they only offer drop in class prices or monthly. If they could offer 10 or 20 class packages for a discount per class, I would come more often. read more

I started going to Surya Yoga in March. I went because friends recommended it and took me. The instructors are fabulous. There is something for everyone. I started at a pretty basic level and little by little have gotten stronger, more stable, and flexible. I go five days a week I like it so much! It feels like I go to class with a group of friends, both the instructors and the other class members. People notice when you aren't there. Small class sizes. Friendly people. I have been looking for a new yoga studio since moving and my old studio was just too far to travel to. After quite a bit of searching I stumbled across Surya Yoga and I'm so glad I did! I really enjoy the smaller studios quaint studios and that is what Surya is. So warm and inviting. I decided to do a first time drop in several weeks ago and also purchase the $40/40 day deal as well and then will purchase the monthly membership. I like that they offer several evening classes since it works best for my work schedule. I have only taken classes so far from Kat and Jeanne and they are both wonderful!!! They are so kind and friendly and put on great classes. I truly love looking forward to going to yoga again as I have been missing it the past year. read more

Located at the New Vision Center for Spiritual Living. Surya Yoga is an amazing place started by an amazing person. The teachers are extremely accessible, and the studio space itself is soothing. I regularly attend classes with Lacey and Erin who both have a calm and beautiful presence about them. They encourage students to work within their own comfort zone and to get in touch with the "oneness" of it all. Both Erin and Lacey give adjustments during their classes---which I love. The classes are also relatively frequent and at great times. I LOVE that they have a Satuday afternoon class, which is rare for most other studios in the valley. Check it out! read more

I have studied under some of the best yogis in India so I am desperately trying to find real and authentic yoga in Arizona which I found to be a challenge. I know that Arizona has a reputation in the yoga community but I never realized how bad it really was until I moved here! I wouldn't exactly call what they teach here as yoga but it was an okay workout/new-agey vibe if that is what you are looking for. I'm not into the new agey stuff (again, that is NOT what Yoga is) which this studio seems to be HUGE on. If that is your thing then I'm sure you'll love it here. Just not for me.
