Phish tacos!
Laura H.

I went back for my second time today. I have been raving about their vegan house made "Phish" tacos for probably the last 2 years and when I went today they were Gardein! Am I losing my mind? Were they never house made? They were okay, I guess, but definitely not outstanding like I remember. Much more oily today. The fish and the tortillas :( I actually brought them home and pressed out as much oil as I could.

The most amazing gluten free vegetarian chik'n pot pie

I am so grateful for my experience at Life On Mars. It turned out to be the highlight of a tumultuous Seattle trip and I look back on it fondly. We came here mostly for one thing: I absolutely could not wait for their gluten-free vegan chick'n pot pie. A pie i'd been waiting months to try. A pie unlike any other pie. A pie that I still think about to this day. We walked straight into a Cardi B drag show. And by "walked into" I mean we opened the door and Hot Pink Shade sashayed right in front of us. It was exactly the kind of welcome we love. It was also the first green flag in a sea of green flags at Life On Mars. I could barely sit still as I waited to order my GF/VG pot pie. We got the drinks outta the way (a peach hard cider for me and a fancy-schmancy cocktail for the lady). I was positively GIDDY when Anna came to take our order and I blurted out chick'n pot pie excitedly. I nearly died when she said they didn't have any. Normally it wouldn't have been such a big deal, but I was from out of town and had literally been craving this damn pie for months! And I lied, I didn't nearly die but I DID nearly cry and that's almost as bad. Even the bestie lamented about what a let down this was. Anna. Dear, sweet Anna. We must have looked really hard up because this sweet baby angel offered to ask the cooks if they could whip one up special just for me. Let me tell you why this is a big deal: For one, she didn't need to do that. That's going above and beyond, and she was such a graceful little buttercup when she did it. Second, making a gluten free biscuit is a finicky, precise, detailed process. It sucks, honestly, and I don't blame them for not having them every day. I nearly cried when she came back and told us the cooks said YES. And this time i'm not lying. It was beyond the type of customer service i'm used to. It was.... humane. It was...empathetic. It was...totally first world problems but it meant so much to me! Especially since Anna said it had been a DAY and she was at her wits end. For her to have a rough day and still have the grace and compassion to make my stupid GF/VG chick'n pot pie dreams come true.....well, yeah, it made me a bit teary eyed. The pot pie was delicious, as expected. It was nostalgic and comforting, like a big hug in a bowl. The flavors were rich and deep, the biscuit soft and flaky; it was one of the most delicious things i've tasted on my GF/VEG journey. Between the food, the drinks, the customer service and the drag show......this was five stars all around. No doubt. I don't see the GF chick'n pot pie on their menu anymore. Maybe it's a seasonal thing? I hope it comes back, i'll be checking. And when it pops up again, so will I. Thank you, Anna. Thank you to the cooks on 2/19/26. Thank you to Hot Pink Shade, ISIS and King Leo Mane.

I'm not even vegan, but this place was excellent! The decor is beyond top notch. There was also a dj playing! The nachos were truly divine. The service was lovely and attentive but not overbearing. The drinks were absolutely the highlight. So creative and so many! I'll be back! Highly recommend even if you aren't vegan :)

I'm not vegan but I couldn't even tell the difference with the smash burger! All the food we ordered from cauliflower wings to fries and our burgers were filled with flavor. Serving size was definitely shareable among the three of us. Lucky timing with happy hour, the drinks were so good!! Service was very attentive and kind with us. Loved the vibes with the music playing and selection of vinyls to choose from. Such a great spot to catch up with friends or a fun night out

Come on now...a vinyl bar???? With fun drinks???? I'm there. On the outside, Life on Mars seems unassuming and you'd walk past it thinking it was like a shop. However, my boyfriend happened to see a bunch of vinyls inside and as soon as we opened the door we heard Dolly Parton streaming through the speakers. You can only come here if you're 21+ right at the door by the way! You have the choice to be seated at a regular table where you have to order their food, which is vegan based. They do a twist on dishes that are meat based, such as chicken being your classic buffalo wings but in this case make it cauliflower (yum!). We did come here for a few drinks and the vinyl bar though, so this review is mainly for the service and drinks. We got the Opener and Florida Beach. The opener tasted like juice with the green tea vodka mixture and elderflower...dangerous really. The Florida Beach was just alright. Not much of the drink as there was more ice cubes for looks? But it was kind of stronger than I anticipated with the description being pineapple shrub and lime. I guess blanco really hits you and I had no idea haha. The lady helping us in the beginning was friendly and accommodating. She even let us know where to sit and that they rotate albums that are chosen by customers on the speakers so that everyone gets a chance to share. We also heard that they do music themed nights per the owner's requests. Such a fun place! Definitely somewhere you'd want to stop by in while strolling around Capitol Hill. Moderately priced drinks and seems like everyone enjoyed their stay here.

Such a fun bar, lounge, plant based eatery. Fun decorations. Mixed musics from 90s rap to alternative. Lots of tables, bar, booths. Friendly quick service. Vegan food was great. Love the infamous buffalo cauliflower wings. Especially the spicy habanero. Another shout out for the pot pie! More like vegetable stew and a biscuit but so good. Hearty savory, hits the spot on a cold winter day. They also have happy hour mid day and brunch in the am. I'll be back for that!

A very delicious Breakfast Burrito I ordered at Life On Mars!

I have had Life On Mars bookmarked into my list for I don't know how long. It felt like forever but finally, finally at long last I recently tried it. I am sure the name of the restaurant is a reference to the David Bowie song of the same name and there is evidence that there is a love for music here. Not only is this a restaurant but they are also a vinyl shop as well. They have a very fine selection of vinyl albums to purchase and that really makes this place cool! But not just that. The food is very good too. All of the food is vegan oriented and it's very good! I got a breakfast burrito that was great! Very flavorful and fresh. Steve's breakfast was very good as well but unfortunately I don't precisely remember the name of it. The time we were here was brunch time to early lunch but we got some cocktails as that is something that they are also known for. Very, very good drinks! Highly recommended! Life On Mars is definitely a place to try out if you are in the area as it's an excellent place to have a bite and chill!

Came in for a little brunch and a cocktail while in the area! The staff was friendly and the vibes are great. I'm not a plant based person but I have been here a few years ago and remembered a good experience. The cauliflower(chick'n) and waffles were so delicious! Great flavor all around! And the textures were perfect too. What a great dish

Life On Mars is a hip place that I do dig, and the visits here have been pleasant overall, but there are some snags that just keep from where it should be for me. The ambience with the vinyls and the bar sitting in the middle is cool. My first visit was with friends on a nice day, we had some really nice drinks - "The Opener" - Green Tea infused Misguided Vodka, elderflower, lemon, soda goes down great on a summer day. So, I got a few rounds of those for my friends. Also got an order of the cauliflower bites to share which were ok, kind of expected more, perhaps should've got the "large" though the server said the small was shareable for 3. I recall our server disappearing for some time, so I went to the bar to order, we went to pay our actual server kind of caught an attitude when perhaps she didn't get the tip she was looking for further adding to my issue of the entitled and current wild tip climate but I'm not here to get on that box for this review. On a follow up visit My friend and I got brunch take out. I got the 'Bad Wolf breakfast sandwich - Sausage patty, Just Egg scramble, provolone cheese, spicy aioli on a grilled roll or between two waffles. I actually liked this and found the price was decent, my friend however was disappointed with her Benny and the Jets - "Choice of vegan poached or sunny side up Egg, vegan breakfast sausage avocado, spinach, mushrooms, and tomato, on an English muffin and topped with vegan house-made hollandaise sauce". She wasn't all that impressed with it. The biggest flaw for me though is the additional 20% on take-out orders. From what I understand it's for more "efficiency" but to me that just means code "just because". My friend loves it here, she likes the cool setting, the bathroom and is vegan. Overall, the vibes here are nice and found my food to be ok but the snags I mentioned are a real drag for me. If anything, I'd be cool coming through for a couple of "Openers" while 'hopping' around Cap Hill, but parts of my experiences here didn't leave as good a taste for me.

Ordered a spicy marg and they made it extraaaa spicy. Thanks to my waitress!! Note that it leans more on jalapeño spice. Wish it had a bit of sourness to it

Love this bar during the afternoon on the weekends. You can pick vinyl albums to play, they have a huge selection. I think it's a 70s-80s theme, loved it. We have tried to come on a Friday night but got turned away due to a large party coming in.

Panda drink (alcoholic)

Sat outside and it was nice. Loved the concept that you can pick a vinyl to play - will try that again. We had a Panda drink which was was fun - not sweet at all. For food had the cauliflower wings which were yummy. We didn't stay too long but I would definitely come back here and try more dishes. Our server was very nice btw...

THANKS LOM for not raising prices like crazy! By comparison, you feel more affordable than before. Will stop by more often because we need more vegan places to stay alive. Best of luck.

Ask the Community - Life On Mars

Do you have delivery?

We do not. You can call in an order and pick it up, but delivery apps are too cost prohibitive for all.

Will you ever bring back your spicy chik'n wings? The community needs them!

I hope so. They were so good. I'll have to check why they came off the menu. A lot of times it's supply issues.

Do you have heated outdoor seating?

We sure do. Partially enclosed space that gets cozy.

Do they accept cash?

Yes, we do.

Is there wifi/ability to do work?

As much as we love people coming in to disconnect from the world and have human interactions in our space, we do have wifi available for those who need to get work done.

Do you do reservations for parties of 6-7?

We start accepting reservations of parties of 10-150. Please inquire at hello@lifeonmarsseattle.com for more info. for prices, food and bev. minimums, and any other info. to help us make your event awesome.

The rooftop views are some of the best in the city, especially once Seattle starts lighting up, and the atmosphere is ultimately what you show up and stay for. Drinks are definitely pricey at $20+, but I appreciate that the snacks remain closer to happy hour pricing. We ordered the shishito peppers and hummus plate for around $11-$12 each, which felt surprisingly reasonable considering the setting. Staff was suuuuper nice! And after striking out on espresso martinis at our previous stop, we finally got our redemption here. The Nest's espresso martini ranks somewhere mid-tier for me compared to others around the city, but at that point we were just happy to have one in hand. You're definitely paying a premium for cocktails, but the food pricing helps balance things out and that view makes a pretty convincing argument for staying for another round. Come for a drink. Stay because Seattle looks really good from up here.

YOU SPIN ME RIGHT ROUND..! 4.5…read more The level below the main observation deck of Seattle's Space Needle is home to The Loupe Lounge, which features the world's first revolving glass floor. Many years ago, I dined at the Space Needle when it was still home to its famous rotating restaurant. SkyCity Restaurant closed in 2017, and the revamped observation experience reopened in 2018. Today, The Loupe Lounge offers a very different experience, with a revolving glass floor that provides mesmerizing views straight down to the Needle's structure, elevators, and the streets far below. It's a fascinating perspective you simply can't get from an ordinary observation deck. The Loupe Lounge operates seasonally in the fall and closes from May through August. Since we visited the Space Needle in June, the full experience was unavailable. However, we were still able to access the roped-off lounge area for $35 each, which included two cocktails and two delicious burgers. We lingered in the lounge for at least 45 minutes, the time it takes the glass floor to complete a full 360-degree rotation and return to its starting point. It was wonderfully uncrowded, with only our table and one other party in the roped-off area. Access to this section is restricted to guests 21 and older, although visitors of all ages can enjoy the surrounding observation areas. During the fall season, the entire lounge floor is reserved for guests 21 and older. The fall-season menu features exclusive cocktail and culinary experiences, complete with show-stopping mixology and eye-catching food towers. Reservations must be prepaid, and guests select their preferred tower when booking. Each package also includes VIP elevator access to the lounge. Depending on your selection, the price can be quite steep; however, it also includes admission to the observation deck, which alone can represent a $100-plus value for two. Whether you visit at sunset or after dark, The Loupe Lounge offers a wonderfully romantic setting, with a unique vantage point that makes the experience feel even more special. We'd love to return one day in the fall or spring and reserve the full experience.

Past visit 2+ years ago the reservation is through Tock. Recently the reservation is through OpenTable so I thought the points credits will be honored here as they are in the OpenTable network, so I redeemed points to discount $8, only to not be applied to the bill since the reservation $15 per person is a deposit and refunded on seating, instead of most places where the deposit deducts the cost of the final bill. None of the bartenders could do anything, and didn't bother raising this to management (probably downstairs at Tavern Law could've remedied the situation but the short turnaround time implied they didn't try). Additionally, when I got my drink, the bartender did not bother taking a second look to see there's a bug. It was deep inside the drink, not at the top, so the bug did not just fly and land on the drink after being served. So it was a bit negligent, especially given they jacked up the price from $21 to $25 in just 2 years. The price increase did not justify the quality, if anything, price went up significantly and quality dropped... The bartender addressed the issue by remaking the drink but the drink was noticeably smaller than the original one. It would only have made sense if I drank a lot of it, but I only had small sip stopped when I saw the bug. The experience was very frustrating overall that I didn't wish to tip, only to find out they added a 20%+ service charge without my consent when I looked at the credit card statement. That is fraud. Fraudulently adding a tip to yourself earned you a 1 star. Otherwise this would've been more a 3 star experience due to the miss from the bug, and the OpenTable issue.
