Went into lids this afternoon to make an exchange for a bigger hat. Unfortunately the 2 young male workers who were working on the floor did not have any desire to help me make a selection. I am a young adult woman who has no prior knowledge of hats and I was looking for something bigger and similar to the hat I already had. I asked for help grabbing a hat on the upper shelf that I could not reach and they had their backs turned and told us that what ever is out there is out there. We understood but we needed help grabbing a size on the top shelf. I was still looking for anything size 8 at this point, and they could not care less to help me find anything. I've gone to multiple other locations and they have always been helpful but not here. The workers could not be bothered nor helpful, resulting in a disappointing customer experience. read more

Went to the Lids at the Santa Anita Mall to get a custom hat made for a friend. The representative from the store, Aracely, couldn't have been more helpful. She made sure the entire process went smoothly. Only took an hour so I was able to stroll around the mall while I waited. She even called me just to make sure I wanted the font in ALL CAPS! I also wanted to give a shout out to Liz for creating the hat & making sure it was all correct. Great service! I would definitely recommend LIDS to my friends and family. read more

Got there at 7:50 to buy a hat before a trip. It was closed with a sign on the door about coming back in ten minutes. I had some time so I waited. 10 minutes passed and noticed the cashier was already closing the register and counting bills. I was standing right outside the door and smiled at her politely a few times, but she just rolled her eyes and kept counting bills and receipts. I really needed the hat so I waited for ten more minutes and she went and turned off the lights!! I walked away and came back a couple of minutes later to take a picture of the 10 minutes sign and the store with lights off, but they were on again and the person was counting bills again. I guess she just wants to leave at 9 sharp and not be stuck finishing her job for another hour, but Jesus, just get a job that closes earlier if you don't like it. Super disrespectful to customers, and she's definitely taking advantage of lack of supervision or corporate care. I went in with my girlfriend and purchased a few hats. Most of them looked faded. We asked an employee about the black LA hat with a small white rose on the side. He said they didn't have them but we could customize one with it. We even showed him the previous hat with the rose. He said that specific rose wasn't available to patch on but there was a skull with a red rose that we could patch on as small as the white rose. We paid for the hats and the customization. We were told we would get a text message once the hat was ready which would be 10 minutes. We decided to go to the food court while we wait. After ordering food and eating we still hadn't received a text. We decided to just wait in the store since it was taking longer than expected. Two new rude employees, one turned out to be the manager Jessica, showed us the botched hat. We explained it wasn't the correct size or color. Both employees said it would be impossible to get the size we wanted without ruining the patch. Why weren't we told that? This isn't the product we were promised. When we told the employees this is not what we paid for they both got defensive saying it didn't matter what we were told. The manager Jessica said no refunds and they weren't going to give us a different hat and it's not their fault because this is what we purchased. I'm not surprised to see all the complaints this store location has and now I can verify the manager complaints. We regret coming to this store. We love hats but this experience just lowered Lids' value. I regret purchasing from them. read more

Never buy online from Lids. Their website operates like a scam site with pop ups and links to other websites for supposed discounts if you sign up for more stuff. When i bought my hat the site advertised free shipping everywhere. Like it was a huge promo. Then i was charged shipping at checkout. They are sneaky about it to. You won't know until after they take your payment. When I recieved my hat the tag in the hat said one size and the label said a different size. It fit weird as well. I I could tell it was a second quality product they shipped me. They also charge $9.99 to return the hat. My experience was like dealing with scammers. Online Buyers Beware! read more

I am impartial about the service. The lady asked me whether I needed help many times. However, she kept pushing the club card on me in the end, despite my polite declining. So in the end I felt neutral. Because I don't feel like gel-ing my hair in the weekends, I needed a hat. I found a great deal here in the clearance section. $44.90 marked down to $40.00 marked down to $35 marked down to $15. Add 30% off sale made it $10.50. So that's $11.50 after tax! I had a stretchy plush blanket I wanted to get embroidered, but a lot of places were saying how it would be risky and they might damage the material. Argh! I was also hesitant of getting it done at the mall too because it's usually overpriced. Well, this place exceeded my expectations. The manager (?) said he'll give it a try and if it doesn't work out we could pull the thread out and I'm so glad we tried because the results were excellent and it wasn't that expensive either! Arrived at 10:20am to get a name on a cap. Told it would be an hour. Arrived at 12:15 to pick up and they couldn't find it. When finally found, it was still undone. Told another 1.5 hour. No apologies, no discount, no put to the front of the line. Turns out they took the hat and my money and left it on a counter. They were not busy we got there. I went to Lids in Acadia, CA on 3/20/2018. It was my 1st time there. I needed a new red hat. Brian was great. He helped me find exactly what I wanted (It had to be red of course) and in the style I wanted. I even bought two of them - Kangol Tropic's #507. He even embroidered "Sea Rebel" on both of them. Because of a discount (since I bought two) my total bill came to $88.65. Brian even brought them to me while I was sitting at the nearby Orange Julius. Now that's service. Wanted to get another hat from Lids that I had previously gotten where I had an expression that contains the word "Bitches" in it stitched on. Employee was very helpful making the arrangements. It wasn't until I was all the way to my car when the employee calls me and says his manager put the kaibosh on the job because "they don't do profanity." A) this isn't the first time I've had this job done at Lids so what's with the new rules and B) Bitches" is a word that can be said on television and radio any time of the day and is so ingrained in our public lexicon that it hasn't moved the morality needle of pearl clutchers for a couple of decades. Also- this "standard" seems rich coming from a place that still sells clothing with racist logos that many in this country would consider truly obscene. In order to get my refund I had to hoof it back to the store and I was looking forward to asking this manager for a list of "obscene" words that Lids isn't allowed to write since they seemed confident "Bitches" surely must be one of them but they were nowhere to be found, I can only presume they were hiding in the back room. I checked back a week and a half later, they finally had it done. If you have a promotion going and you promise a particular date of completion. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. I recently ordered a custom cap from lids.com. Before ordering the cap, I visited one of your stores (Santa Anita Mall) to make sure I was getting right size. The size that fit me best was a medium-sized easy fit cap. So, that was the cap size that I ordered for the customized cap. I also ordered two medium-sized ready-made caps. When the caps arrived, the ready-made caps fits perfectly (just like in the store), but, regretfully, the customized cap was a half-size smaller. I cannot wear it for any extended period of time without getting a headache. I was told by one of the store employees that if there were a problem, I could return any of my caps (that included the customized cap), so I called the customer service line. I explained my problem to the rep, and she was immediately dismissive, explaining to me that a customized cap could not be returned under any circumstances (which is the opposite of what I was told by one of your store employees). She told me she would "escalate" the problem, but gave me no further information as what to expect. When I made inquiries about the escalation process, she fed me vague responses, telling me that she didn't have time to deal with my problem. I understand completely that lids.com would not be able to resell a customized cap. However, I think I demonstrated due diligence in the order of this cap. I went out of my way to drive to your store to make sure I was getting the correct size. I asked your employee this question, "What if, for whatever reasons, the cap arrives and it does not fit?" The employee responded, "You can return it." What more do you expect a customer to do to make sure he is getting the right size than to go into your store and actually try a cap on? What great loss would lids.com have incurred by sending me a cap in the correct size? Is customer satisfaction of so little importance to this company? read more

I come here a lot to pick up some hats when I go travel. Service here has always been pleasant unlike many other Lids stores. The selection is great especially with a focus on the Dodgers. I had the same experience as one of the other members regarding partial shipment of an online order. It wasn't the store's fault because the online tracking stated the shipment was delivered so I showed up to the store without them contacting me. They did call me a few days later saying the remaining order arrived. read more

I was sooo excited to get it back since it is his birthday present. However, when I received it...the letters were off. His last name is Loera but it looked like Laera. I went back and asked her if that's what it's supposed to look like because the o looks like an a. The blonde lady then said," yeah that's an o" when clearly it doesn't. Here is the end up front. Lids sucks. In December I was promoted in my work place and my former team of employees bought me a super cool Raider hat as a going away present. I don't often wear hats and admittedly am not a prime Lids customer in spite of the fact I am a virtual sports encyclopedia. (I am nearly 50-years-old and so my buying patterns are set and I do not really buy hats as I have 20 or so that work, [and fit,] perfectly.) The hat was a 7 3/8 and it seems I require a 7.5. So the girl who bought it for me, told me to take it to Lids and she said they would totally exchange it no questions asked as she is a big customer there. So, I did. I went in days before Valentine's Day and all they had in stock were these black on black Raiders caps and the employee, (who was super cool about the whole thing,) talked me out of getting the all black Raider hat and returning sometime after the holiday as they would have new stock coming in and I could then get the exact hat my team had bought me, (which I absolutely love, black, white and gray logo, on gray.) So I kept the ill fitting hat. Now here we are in late May. I travel for my new role with my company and I have been in Toronto, Houston and Phoenix 3-4 times in that time span. I have been busy. Still, the hat sat in the gift bag I received it in. Finally, yesterday I made a trip to the mall with my kids just for the purpose of finally exchanging the hat. I never expected any difficulty. I approached a young guy who I thought had been the same employee who had helped me back in February and explained that I had seen him a few months ago. He informed me that was impossible as he had only been there for one month. Okay. I confused the two employees. The original employee was also Latino but perhaps a bit stockier. I am not sure. In any case this employee said it as if he caught me in a lie. He, (John Bernardino?) went on to look at the hat and said that there was sweat in the brim which there certainly was not. There was something however. I tried the ill-fitting hat on 3-5 times and never kept it on my head longer than 5 seconds. So, not sweat. No way. Hair product? Perhaps. I explained the situation to the employee again hoping he would see his way to letting me exchange this hat for the exact same hat 1/4 size larger. Hew said he could not resell the cap so no, he would not do it. I asked for a Manager. he said he was an Assistant Manager but that there was a Manager in the back if I wanted her. Of course, I did. She emerged a short time later. She listened to my story then reviewed the cap then told me exactly what the other employee had told me. I was honestly surprised. The hat had never been worn. She said it could not be resold. I believe her on that but my judgment would have been to take a loss on this one. I told her I would never shop at Lids again. (I won't and I hope you do not either.) I am surprised they do not have some sort of a way of removing or in some way negating the extremely light glisten in the hat's inside brim. Most importantly though the young man I spoke to first essentially called me a liar. Perhaps that is something they ask him to do in his role as maybe Lid's clientele tends to make up stories and try to exchange already worn hats. I don't know. I only know nothing could have been further from the truth for me and I am almost never one to make a fuss about something like this. Hence, why I simply told the Manager I would never shop at Lids again and walked out. No scene-no fuss. But I will never buy anyone a hat ever at Lids. More, as a Trainer of Customer Service for a large American corporation, I will tell my classes far and wide about this story, not from spite, merely as an example of how poor customer service permeates an organization and portends its future demise. read more

Unacceptable customer service. I was returning an online order and when I asked for help, the cashier told me to wait because she had to get the manager to process the return. She was so rude and looked annoyed to be there. Then she comes back and says that the manager just went on break so it would be 10 minutes. I don't understand why a manager has to do a return. I have worked retail and this is a ridiculous rule, any employee can process a return, it's not that hard to do. Anyway, I digress, I see someone come from the back room. I didn't pay any attention to him since he looked like just another employee and not a manager. The same guy comes back in and he has a boba drink in his hand along with French fries from McDonalds. Then I find out he was the manager, go figure! He was back there the whole time. During the whole return process he was drinking and eating, while sharing his fries with his coworker. He then proceeded to examine every single thread on the items I was returning, with his dirty hands that probably had oil from the fries he was eating. The merchandise was brand new, all the tags attached. The only reason I was returning it was because of a sizing issue. He looked at me almost as if I was doing some kind of fraud, he hesitated to complete the return. I was completely insulted. Lids, you have lost a customer.
