Then came bread on the side but no butter - just warm bread, though it was good. The mains were mixed. My halibut was delicious but atop a bed of toasted carrots and a purée of some sorts. My partner had rockfish and Lordy did it stink! We looked at each other in a "what is that smell" kinda way and the aroma just killed off any appetite I had. Not fishy - just a stench. Too bad as the halibut was promising. The bill came and while I knew from the menu the prices were a tad high, I was still surprised to see it close to $200 before tip. $12 for a glass of beer? I had eyed the fried chicken but at $48 it too seemed way overpriced. I want to love this place but the prices combined with hit or miss dishes just didn't do it for us.

We made a reservation on Resy (which is really great if you have American Express because they have a special dining compensation program through Resy). Brittany was our server, and fantastic. We started with the martini espresso and a cappuccino heavy on the foam. My friend ordered the tender pulled beef short ribs with pan roasted potatoes that came topped with perfectly fried eggs. I ordered the shrimp and grits with eggs over easy. The grits were so creamy and wonderfully hot, temperature hot not spicy, and the shrimp came flavored in a sauce that is hard to describe but very easy to eat. Conversation was possible because it wasn't too loud and the seating was fantastic, not tight or packed together, and there was in fact a really wonderful covered patio space outside complete with attractive center table and decor of lights. For her birthday there was a lemon ricotta cheesecake that was perfectly doused in cherry sauce with optional Graham powder crust circling the moist and light cheesecake. Came with a sparkler which made for the perfect occasion to take a birthday photo. And even complementary many pours of champagne to toast. I don't know if there's a better place to dine in Bothell. Make a reservation and then expect to be impressed by both the food and the service. We were. Thanks Brittany for making the occasion such a memorable one.

Our waitress came over to take our order and when we got our drinks, we were checked once again and was notified our food was coming shortly. Food arrived fresh, hot, and delicious! All in all, giving The Cottage another chance after I've been coming here for years before the takeout experience has reminded me the quality of customer service and food stayed the same pre-Covid and post-Covid. Thank you to Madison and the wonderful staff!

Complimentary bread with olive oil, garlic, and balsamic? Top-notch. Could've eaten just that and been happy. Starters: Onion soup: okay. Not bad, not memorable. Crab cakes: 6/10 -- decent, but not the highlight. Now the mains... Ribeye steak + lamb rack -- and wow. This isn't supposed to be a steakhouse, but somehow it delivered one of the cleanest, most satisfying steaks I've had. Zero errors. Perfect cook. The lamb chops were impressive too -- flavorful, tender, and most importantly: no greasy lamb aftertaste (huge win). Bottom line: Come for the views and service, stay for the surprisingly legit meats. Mom was happy. Steak was on point. Mission accomplished.

Was guested last night for dinner by a thoughtful friend and family member following an unhappy event that day. Upon entering the restaurant, it was evident that the near full house was having a great time dining and socializing. Almost every table had multiple cocktails as well as starters. We found a perfect table for two and were immediately greeted by our server. Wish I had gotten his name to recommend him for his exemplary service. A genuinely nice person with a kind and comfortable service demeanor. He preempted our every need from start to finish. Since I was the guest and not paying the tab, I don't know the gratuity that left for him, but I hope it was generous. My host had the grilled schrimp salad. I had Momma's Meatloaf Dinner, a generous and satisfying meal, well seasoned and really enjoyed. This is a near perfect restaurant. Prices are fair, service is tops, food is enjoyable. This server, brown wavy hair past his ears and dark mustache took our orders and never came back. When we were ready for the check he was busy talking to someone unrelated to food orders or food..period! He didn't care to look over. Then I asked the host for our check. She tried helping but could not print our check because she was not the server. She then walked over to get his attention discretely, no such luck, he kept on talking. A few more minutes, I asked her if she was getting me the check, she explained that she could not. So i waited, I think he glanced over and back to jabbing. Then the host had to go get help from the someone that could override and allowed her to print. horrible service this second time..not sure I want to take a chance on bad services again. the place was not busy at that time so busyness cannot be a reason. The Barking Frog was actually completely booked, but I had an OpenTable alert added, and as we were driving to the venue, I got an alert that there was a table open in the bar! I was super excited to try this new place! We sat in the bar and we ordered some cocktails- they were both very good. Service was a bit slower than we're used to, perhaps because we were sitting in the bar. Eventually, someone came around and took our order for our entrées. I ordered the duck breast and my husband ordered the King salmon. As for the duck breast, it was plated absolutely beautiful, I found the flavors to be pretty underwhelming. The seared rice cakes that it came with really did not offer much to the plate. So unfortunately, I felt my entrée fell a little flat for me. My husband, however, absolutely loved the King salmon and said it was one of his top dishes that he has tried. The ambience in the restaurant itself is fantastic. It's beautifully done and a great area and very easily walkable to the winery. We will definitely come back and give it another try as there were several other entrées. It looked really great on the menu.

It was the kind of meal that felt both elegant and fresh, with no complaints whatsoever. Our waitress was attentive throughout the meal and made excellent recommendations that elevated the experience even more. It was good, but could have done without so much fresh dill...got a bit overpowering. Four stars instead of five because of a $4.10 fee (2.5%) for a "healthcare surcharge". I am seeing this more and more often at expensive restaurants and cannot express how tacky I find it. If the cost to run a business in Washington is 2.5% more than what you are currently budgeting for, then you need to increase your menu prices by 2.5% and be up front about it. This feels deceptive and frankly is a reason I avoid certain restaurants. I want to try this place again, but this fee makes me feel like I'm being scammed.

We were celebrating with my husband, our two young children, and my in-laws, so we were looking forward to a special brunch together. Our server, Shami, did not make us feel welcomed from the start. There was no introduction, greeting, or acknowledgment that it was Father's Day. The interaction felt very rushed and impersonal. When ordering mimosas, she brought the champagne to the table and asked whether we wanted to serve ourselves or have her do it, which felt unusual and left us unsure of what was expected. Throughout the meal, we consistently thanked her when food and drinks were brought out, but our comments were met with silence. There was little to no engagement, warmth, or hospitality during the service. While we understand everyone can have an off day, the overall experience felt cold and inattentive, especially for a special occasion. The food was good, and because we've had positive experiences here in the past, we're hopeful this was an isolated incident. However, service plays a big role in the dining experience, and this visit left us disappointed.
