The food here is amazing. And the service was great too -- I ordered a delivery through Doordash and the dasher delivered it to the wrong address; I called the restaurant and they remade my order and delivered it to my door within 30 minutes! It was very much appreciated :) read more

Incredibly delicious food. Definitely some of the best middle Eastern food in the neighborhood

I randomly stopped by at the restaurant with no prior plans. Yelp showed this as the closest vegan restaurant to me at that point. I ordered Vegan Meatball dish as it sounded good on the menu. I took this to go. Damnn... I was pleasantly surprised, this dish was brilliant!!! Absolutely loved the flavors in the coconut curry and texture... great job! Vegan or not... everyone should try this. read more

I looove Mediterranean food and I've always wanted to try this restaurant! We went on a Sunday morning for brunch and picked a spot outside in the garden area. We chose two dishes from the Brunch Menu and a side from the Mix Market: the Green Shakshuka, the Shakshuka Hazilim and the Moroccan Eggplant. Everything was super tasty and flavorful! read more

Had the Greek salad and hummus with pita. Pita was great and nice and warm. Greek salad tasted very fresh although smaller than I expected.

Came here because a friend told us its some of the best israeli food outside of israel, and lemme tell you, he was right. It might not seem like a lot of food when you look at the menu but trust me, its enough to fill you up. We each got our own hummus dish and then we shared three dishes from the market mixes (i think thats what that part of the menu was called) between two people. Everything tasted incredible. For the three dishes, we got: israeli salad, eggplant tahini and falafel. I got the hummus tahini and my boyfriend got the hummus garlic, both were delicious. The hummus was soo smooth, it was wonderful. And probably the best part? The hot pitas that came with each hummus dish. Fresh, warm, and just overall really great pita. The waitress was super sweet and even changed my friends drink order after he had messed it up. Overall really wonderful spot. read more

Best schnitzel of my life (also the first schnitzel of my life but that's neither here nor there)

Came here to grab a quick bite, sat down and placed our order. Nothing special hummus platter. Mezzo platter and latkes and waited for a bit. 40 minutes passed and no sign of our food so I asked how we were getting on "4 minutes away" another 10 minutes pass and no food in sight so I went up again and asked how close we were and was informed it would be out very soon. Unfortunately at the 1 hour mark with no food arriving we were left with no option but to leave as had somewhere to be, we ended up going next door to the deli and getting somethings to go. This was one of the worst experiences at a restaurant I've ever had. To think mezzo and hummus didn't appear in an hour is just insane, these are things you should have ready and bring out when ordered. Shocking read more

Five stars for food AND service. We went for brunch to celebrate my mom's birthday. I am normally not a fan of brunch menus. Too few choices and similar. This was the most enjoyable brunch ever. Let's start with the food. My favorite appetizer was the Moroccan Cigars - crispy rolls filled with a soft filling of mushroom, eggplant & cilantro. My mom had the Israeli Breakfast had PERFECTLY made scrambled eggs - oh, if only mine would come out like that. It came with an array of other yummies - potatoes, bread, feta cheese, tzatziki, hummus and a tomato/cucumber mix. I had the Quinoa Bowl and added the shwarma. A perfect balance of the ingredients with the perfect sunny side egg dripping into it all. My husband had the Schnitzel Plate. The chicken was crispy on the outside and soft and juicy on the inside. The hummus platter was delicious. The Chocolate Truffles were the perfect ending. Soft and not too sweet. Finally, kudos to our amazing server Jonathan. He was welcoming, attentive, thoughtful, and helpful. Not 'just' taking our order and serving our food, but rolling out hospitality to the fullest. He took it upon himself to bring out dessert with a small candle for my mom to blow out. I didn't even ask. Thanks so much Jonathan. I hope to see you each time we go back! read more

Finished some work and ended up in this heavenly middle zone between Williamsburg and greenpoint around 2pm. Was attracted by the warm vibes as soon as I entered. Had the place to myself pretty much as a few late lunch take out orders came through as I sat down. I am so grateful to have received such healthy, tasty and loving ingredients (especially the rice majadra!) served by people who care. Come on down, your body and soul will thank you. This is my favorite spot for healthy food. The Chef never met a vegetable he didn't treat with love. Don't let the all vegetarian Israeli based menu scare you , it's some of the best food you will eat in the neighborhood. There are 3 different eggplant dishes and all simple and outrageous. The roasted peppers with feta and pine nuts are simply the tastiest peppers I've had anywhere and his vegan chocolate tart is creamy and loaded with flavor. Nice wine list, they off a great deal you can choose 4 dishes with pita. For $25. Pretty backyard too !!!! read more

I love Hummus Market and I would have given them another star but I'm deducting it for the following conversation. My friend and I were having lunch. Friend to Waiter: Can I get a diet coke please? Waiter: We don't have diet coke or any fizzy drinks. (Me --- thinking there better be an amazing reason why they don't serve diet coke --- I turn to the waiter: Why don't you serve diet coke?) Waiter: We want people to understand we're not a cheap take out spot. We're a high end restaurant so no diet coke. Me to waiter: You do realize there are Michelin Star restaurants who serve diet coke. Case closed. Ok back to how great the food is. Yes, they have a kickass shakshuka. Yes they have amazing small plate dishes. The watermelon salad, tomato salad both heavenly dishes. Their pita is fresh out of this world especially with their made in house hummus. I am a huge fan of their foods. I doubt there's anything on the menu that's not top notch perfection. I've definitely been here more than once and every time the food is consistent and delicious. The decor is lovely and rustic, they do have an amazing backyard in the summer time. Waitstaff is mostly on point, friendly and helpful and prices are quite reasonable. I will keep coming back for more, although I'm hoping they'll put the no diet coke policy aside and start serving it. They can even put a lemon on the edge for a posh effect (like every damn hotel and restaurant in the city) :) read more

True to their name this restaurant's main focus is their various hummus dishes. I ordered the Mashabcha hummus plate which consisted of two pieces of pillowy, freshly made pita bread and a large portion of creamy hummus and whole chickpeas. $11 is pricey for something that amounts to an appetizer however despite its simplicity both the bread and hummus were delicious. Normally I prefer my chickpeas deep fried so I was a little disappointed that an all vegetarian Mediterranean restaurant didn't serve falafel. Expensive, but definitely worth checking out if you're looking for vegetarian food on the healthy side. There appears to be a lot of vegan friendly stuff on the menu as well. read more

Okay. OK. You need to go here. You just do, trust me, coming from a Moroccan. 1. Food: their pita bread is amazing. Genuinely one of a kind-fluffy, fresh, substantial yet velvety and warm. We ordered extra. Hummus? Super authentic, rich, my childhood. Silky tahini and olive oil and harissa? You can't find that in a supermarket. The quinoa salad was fulfilling (coming from a meat lover) and left me with a fresh, aromatic and lemony yet feathery flavor. The dessert : BAKLAVA. Baklava !! Juicy, syrupy, nutty and and citrusy all in one. In perfect portions. Ahh! Ambiance: Romantic or authentic, whatever you may call it. Brings you in mood to connect with your lover or friends. String lights, wooden fences full of ivy. Somewhere that isn't too quiet to hear a pin drop but also not loud enough where you can't hear someone speaking. Thank you to the manager Sofi for helping me have an amazing night, regardless of Covid!!! read more

Came here around 3:15ish on a Sunday afternoon, only one table had patrons. By the time we left, every single table was occupied with patrons. This is how amazing this place is. The inside is a bit on the small side but it's cozy charm is great. I ordered the Moroccan Eggs Benedict from their brunch menu. The eggs and peppers and cheese were cooked/placed over top of a pita inside this cute little pan. The dish also came with a few sides including home fries and tabouli. The waitress was friendly and attentive. The food took a little bit to come out but it was absolutely worth the wait. Got an added treat for desert with the chocolate balls with a coconut outside. Yummm. Highly recommend trying this place! read more

*silent tears of joy as she opens the menu* Oh the Tel Avivian feels comes pouring over me. Unlike Dizengoff in Chelsea Market, and the newcomer Miznon, Hummus Market is where you'll get a proper mezzettim meal. With 10+ different salads and sides, the fluffiest pita east of the river, and a perfectly mixed hummus, your stomach will thank you for all the delicious treats. The intimate and casual setting makes perfect for a weekday night out with the flatmates or for those hazey winter nights The salad portions here are larger than expected so for a group of 4 we were set with 2 bowls of hummus, 6 pita and 4 sides. Be sure to mix it up with the wheat & white pita for the perfect blend - sorry carb-free kids, suck it up. Note to the chef: turn up the warmer just a tad bit for the hummus. Ours came a bit crusty and luke warm, but the flavor dynamic is to die for. read more

Lots of veggie dishes for my Vegetarian mom: Check Israeli-style finely diced cucumber-tomato salad for my Mediterranean-food loving kid: Check Sabich on the menu and creative hummus for my Israeli born and raised hubby: Check As for yours truly, this place had me at its tantalizingly fresh looking food pics. So off we went and I am happy to report, a delicious meal was had by all. Hubby raved about the Hummus Masabacha (topped with whole chickpeas), but felt the pita, while warm and fresh, could have been more pillowy and soft. Mezze Salads, and we tried several, tasted just as bright and verdant as I hoped; like something I'd make myself if I had the time and energy. I mean this in the best of ways, as someone who wishes she had it in her to cook like Yotam Ottolenghi on a regular basis, but cannot deal with all the chopping and prep. We also shared an entree of Farm Veg Cakes which came with Israeli Salad. The dish arrived with four shredded veggie patties, making it easily shareable, but the patties were tiny. So while they were delicious, $15.00 seemed a bit steep for such a small portion. For dessert we got an order of truffle-like Chocolate Balls, which came highly recommended by our sweet server, and Malabi, sort of like rosewater infused Middle Eastern panna cotta. The Chocolate Balls were a bit too sweet for me, but I am into deep, dark and bitter, when it comes to chocolate; everyone else inhaled them. Loved the Malabi and even more than that, loved watching my kid wolf down such a distinctively floral, perfumey dessert--proof positive that dumbing down food for kids is just well, dumb. Either that or sugar trumps all. Hubby never did get to try the Sabich. We will definitely be back for that. And if Falafel and Baba Ganoush are ever added to the menu (hint, hint), I could see this becoming part of our regular rotation. read more

an email I recently wrote to them but never got a response: Hello, I am reaching out because after 3 poor experiences, I believe it's necessary to give feedback. A few months ago I ordered a shakshouka pita which was my first order ever at Hummus Market. The pita was so drenched that the entire sandwich fell apart and through the bottom of the pita into the bag after the first bite, so I wasted half of my sandwich. I gave you guys a second chance a few weeks later, ordered the shakshouka platter this time. Firstly, my friends order of falafel pita was served and we had to wait over 10 minutes for my platter to come out. Of course my friend waited and his food was cold by the time mine was served. Second, my shakshouka was not edible. I am very experienced with shakshouka as Ive been to isreal many times and many Israeli restaurants, the egg yolks should not be hard. Mine were completely hardened. It was not edible and the sauce tasted like it came out of a can. As i'm sure you know, the secret to a great Shakshouka is the sauce. So my friend just shared his pita with me, which was very nice of him. This past Monday, I was craving falafel, and I had actually really liked the falafel pita my friend ordered the second time, so I put my frustrations with past experience behind me and gave you guys a 3rd chance. I had called in at 12:55 to place my order so it would be ready by the time I got there, as I was a little short on time. I got there 12 minutes later. By the time I got there the ticket was not even given to the kitchen and the place only had one other customer in there so it's not like it was busy. Also, when I asked the server to add a lentil soup to make it a lunch special, she seemed aggravated about my request. She gave in my ticket to the kitchen and automatically assumed it was to go, without even asking me, and I corrected her saying it was actually to stay. She gave me a very poor attitude with facial expressions of frustration. Lastly, when i got my falafel pita, the eggs were hard boiled, when the menu says it's soft boiled. And I don't mean a little hard, I mean hard as if they had been boiled for 10minutes the day before. To confirm, I asked the server if the pita is supposed to have a hard or soft boiled egg and she confirmed soft, then asked me why. I told her it was very hard but not to worry about it this time. At the very least, I expected her to go to the kitchen and give the feedback to the chef, as constructive criticism, but she did not. Overall it was a really terrible experience, especially with the server's uncomfortable energy. I'm choosing to write this email versus posting a review on yelp or foursquare, however I really ought to make it public as it was 3 times. I will not post it but It would really be to your advantage to have a review with your staff, kitchen and front of house..if you want to bump up your rating. All the best, Me read more

love this place!! I keep coming back and the food is always great. one of my favorite places in Williamsburg

I came to Hummus Market this past Saturday with my husband, son and friends. 1- the food is outstanding. My husband is half Lebanese and said many of the dishes were just as fantastic as his grandmother's cooking. 2- the service. Our server was SARA. Not only was she attentive during our meal, she offered great suggestions for the group meal. But even more impressive was her attention to my son, Richard, who is 2 years old. She came up with ideas to keep him occupied so my husband and I could enjoy our meal. She played with him when she came to check on us. She was open to him coming to her after he washed his hands to show her and say, "all clean!" All of this goes a VERY VERY LONG WAY! My family and friends will 1000% be back. I just wish I had Sara's contact info to thank her personally. Thank you Hummus Market and Sara for a great Saturday night! read more

Rating the Hummus Market with 4 stars out of 5. We ordered a hummus falafel and a malabi for dessert from this Israeli style Middle Eastern restaurant. The hummus was super smooth and rich. The falafel was friedbto perfection. The two pitas were fluffy, yet airy and just authentic. Very few places that claim to be middle eastern restaurants actually deliver hummus that is on par with quality from Tel Aviv. Hummus Market is one of those places. I was less pleased with the malabi, though. The malabi came with the red sauce and pecans, which are not traditional but delicious nonetheless. However, their malabi was way too thick compared to the light texture of traditional malabi. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because of the service. Our server completely forgot about our order (we were a table of 2 sitting by the window in the restaurant). We didn't get our order until 20 minutes in when we actually went up to her to ask for WATER. Since a basic hummus falafel does not take 20 minutes, and because she didn't even give us water, we can safely assume she definitely forgot about us. There was 1 other table inside the restaurant (people were in the backyard part) so I really don't get how we were forgotten. Otherwise, the food is 100% Israeli hummus. read more
