I was pretty hungry during a late afternoon so I stopped for a banh mi. I usually go for the cold cut one, but was told they don't have pate so I tried #1 Ham & Grilled Pork Sandwich ($9.5 + tax). The sandwich was big in size, but I'm not a fan of the pork cuz it tasted like sweet and sour. I want to come back for desserts next time, like the different flavors of rice krispie and mochi donuts. I have been stopping by on my way home, right off the tracks at Othello Station. My end of the day is in the morning , like 8am. And every time I walk in to the cafe, they seem so happy to see me. Not overbearing, just cheerful. The first thing I tried was the doughnuts. They are a real treat. Many unique flavors and have a sticky note quite fully cooked texture I find I enjoy. Today I ordered Chicken Fried Rice. Not easy to pull off at 8am, but this is my dinner time. It is really good. They chicken looks fresh and is in large pieces over some really good rice. I paired it with a vanilla latte which was also nice. Not overly sweet like the chain coffee shops. This actually tastes like a coffee drink. I have less of a preference for sweets, but they have a rotating selection of both Vietnamese and American pastries and cakes, and everything looks well made. I live down the street from here and am so excited to have found such a great little Vietnamese bakery/ restaurant near me. They have Vietnamese iced coffee which is super good!! And I tried the ham and pork bahn mi which did not disappoint. My friend had a pork plate with rice which he seems to enjoy. They have a variety of pastries and they also have pho. The Sandwiches are a really good size and whatever they use for their marinade is delicious! UPDATE: I tried the chicken-less sandwich ($7.95) today and it was AMAZING!!! Came here to try their pho as a cure to my headache, and I have to say it's pretty solid! There are probably other restaurants in the area that specialize more in their pho but one thing I like about Le's is the nice peaceful vibe they have. The restaurant space is pretty big so if you're looking for dine-in you can easily find yourself a quiet secluded corner to enjoy your meal. It gave me quiet cafe/coffee shop vibes. I had a pretty nasty headache so I knew I wouldn't be able to stand the loudness at some of the other pho restaurants in the area. The pho broth here was solid. Anytime I don't need to add hoisin sauce means the broth had enough flavor, which it did. It was $13.50 for a decent sized bowl which isn't exactly cheap but definitely filling. It's also a deli/bakery first so you'll pick up your food when it's ready rather than having a dedicated server. A ton of people told us to try this location. Here is what I will say. As a bakery they are delicious. The baked goods were really good. The bread on the bhan mi was soft and crunchy and fresh and the pastry was good. The hum bao was terrible. It had the consistency of rubber. It was the thickest and most rubbery hum bao I've ever had. The filling was good but the outside no way. The bhan mi inside wasn't good but like I said the bread is good. We come here all the time for banh mi! I've had their pho too and it was great, but typically we stop in and get banh mi and thai tea to go. My usual is the pork banh mi and my partner's is the tofu banh mi. Solid drinks too, but we almost always get thai tea! Love the people who run this place too, they're always super friendly. Last time we were in I had a moment of spacing out and dropped my thai tea immediately as we exited. The lady at the counter had a quick laugh when we told her what happened, and then offered a discount on a replacement. Super sweet and funny folks. They often have pastries and Top Pot doughnuts in the display window, and it is SO tempting to add something on. I usually resist the urge, but every now and then I grab a donut too and it makes my day. They also have snacks on the shelves, including rice treats they make in house! I don't end up dining in that often because I'm usually on the go, but the space is super cute and cozy. Love the lights on the windows and it feels like a nice chill place to work if you're looking for that café work setting. There's a few tables outside too which have been nice to sit at while we're out with our dog. Ordered delivery through Grubhub last week. They included the napkins and cutlery we requested, which is surprisingly sometimes missed, so I appreciated the level of care. Nothing was leaking or open, either, which is really nice. They use compostable containers other than the pho containers, which are recyclable and nice to reuse as tupperware. Ordered 2 patisos, chicken pho and despite ordering this without cilantro they had a TON of it diced very small so it was almost impossible to remove, house special noodle, and a chicken rice plate. The kids really enjoyed the patiso they shared. It was delciously flaky with slightly sweet ground pork. I devoured mine so quickly. I'd order this again for sure. The chicken rice platter came with picked shredded carrots and daikon and fresh tomatoes and cucumbers. The kids liked the veggies and ate their rice and chicken with zero complaints. There was enough leftover for lunch the next day. The chef special was devoured pretty quickly, too. It was great that both those dishes had two sauce options each. My pho was ok. I'd not order this again, but the portion size was huge if cilantro is your thing. (I know it's traditional but I'm one of the genetically predisposed to taste soap). Sigh. It's been a while since I've had to write anything below a three star... But sometime's it's gotta be done! First off, I'm kicking myself for not taking to Yelp to find a pho place before heading here. It was literally right across the street from where my boyfriend was working, so we were like whaaat the heck let's do it. Little did we know there was another pho place kiddie corner to here with nearly five stars and probably way better food. :( For those who follow my reviews, you know pho is my life. I think this may be the worst pho I've had - I don't like saying that, but it's true. The brisket in the pho was cut INCREDIBLY thick and some pieces were knotty. The broth was literally flavorless and tasted like I was served instant pho. We added some sriracha and plum sauce to at least give us something to taste, and that's what we got... Sririacha Plum Sauce broth. NO pho flavor whatsoever. It was wildly disappointing and I'm sitting here still craving pho. To add insult to injury, this place is ridiculously expensive. After tip, we paid $36 for two bowls of pho, an iced matcha latte, and two measly egg rolls. Granted, the flavor of the egg rolls was super yummy - but they looked like they were made FOR ANTS. (WHAT IS THIS, A CENTER FOR ANTS?) The matcha latte was... Not good. The service was very spotty too. I think it was due to the language barrier, because they were super nice, but it was tough to order and tough to ask them any questions... I definitely would recommend going to one of the many other pho restaurants nearby. Please learn from my mistake. read more

It was really tasty. My friend got their crispy chicken with rice and it was good as well. They serve pretty large portion so there is enough to share. I do have to say that the day I visited them. Located underneath the Othello apartments, it is still pretty brand new as I heard that it opened maybe less than 3 months ago. The staff are pretty nice although one seemed like she did not know what she was doing when it came to making drinks. Parking is street parking, but if you live in the Othello apartments then it's clearly garage parking. Coffee here was okay, but it is definitely not as good compared to coffee shops since it seems like they do not have the right machinery to make really good coffee. The vanilla latte I ordered tasted okay to me, but there was a slight bitter taste to it which is unfortunate. I also ordered the passion fruit green tea with lychee jelly. Disappointed because the drink was way to sweet and they use a syrup which could have been the reason why it had a very sweet taste to it. Conveniently located right next to the Othello train station, I love coming here after picking up a prescription at the nearby pharmacy or after an appointment at Greenleaf Dental. There are many Vietnamese bakeries along MLK here, but Le's is probably the easiest for someone who doesn't speak Vietnamese to navigate. The prices are higher, but honestly you shouldn't always demand to underpay immigrants for food that takes more skill to prepare than a subway sandwich. They also now carry Top Pot doughnuts! I do wish they opened earlier than 8:30am, but that's just because I'm an early bird and would like to be able to pick up food here before work. read more
