At Rainier & Genesse (3/23/26)
Marie B.

It's been awhile since I've driven this further south on Rainier towards Columbia City, Hillman City, and the rest of Rainier Valley. Yuu Tea Cafe is a really nice find near the intersection of Rainier & Genesse, by a Walgreens (3/23/26). This has a shared parking lot and easily accessible by Metro bus. The welcoming staff member gave me the background of this family run indie cafe open since last October 2025. The quality teas are imported from Taiwan and brewed fresh to order. He also gave recommendations on their beverage line and dessert case. Very informative and polished service. The interior is very serene. Big windows let in natural light, healthy foliage at each table. Seating is found adjacent to the windows. Instrumental music with classical, jazz, pop, lo-fi selections. One can have a restful, chill session, focused laptop work/study time, or a meetup convo here. I selected the Sun Moon Lake Black Milk Tea without toppings. I liked the innovative drink & straw holder that's also provided. The cafe also provides a container to properly recycle these holders. In addition, I got to sample some of their Thai tea. Definitely, one can taste the fresh quality. I also peered in their refrigerated pastry case...could not resist & purchased some tiramisu. Terrific find! With the current state of world affairs, this was a much needed relaxing visit!

Coconut Vietnamese coffee and Matcha paradise. Plus @ Koda Bear Pomsky

We were in the Columbia city area and decided to check out Yuu Tea with our pomsky pup - Koda Bear. The location looked to be dog friendly and had pictures of dogs on the walls and it was VeRY cute inside! The owner was friendly and answered all of our questions. Their matcha is from Kyoto so I decide to give it a try and the Vietnamese coffee looked delicious. The drinks we got were Matcha paradise with lychee jelly, less sweet and Vietnamese coconut coffee! I probably should of gotten no sweet if possible bc the matcha was a bit sweet for me. My husband liked his Vietnamese coffee and finished it all! Overall the drinks were really good, fun atmosphere, have their own parking lot & clean inside. We will definitely come visit again and try their homemade bagels! we were too full this time around!

Being a new shop, they struggled a bit to fulfill orders. And they did fall behind and apologized, so appreciate the self humility. It's a pretty big space, lots of plants. I think they could use more interior design, make it cozy. It feels more like a grab and go situation at the moment. The black milk tea turned out great and the long wait for the egg waffle was worth it - warm, crispy, toasty. Idk if I'll come back. Far journey for me to stop by. But if you're in the area, do check it out and show some support.

Five stars all around!! If I could give a ten I would. I truly enjoyed my visit to Yuu Tea Cafe. Good vibes from the moment walking into the door till I left. First off customer service was the best and beyond any tea or boba shop I've been to. Da I believe was his name, his mother is the owner and creator of Yuu Tea Cafe. And I can tell he is passionate about their shop. He greeted us as soon as we walked up to the check out area. He educated us on where their teas were imported from, and that they brew them fresh in house! They had fresh samples of their Thai tea and no exaggerating it was the best Thai tea I have ever tasted. I normally don't gravitate to Thai teas based on the ones I've had in my 34 years of life. There were so many great options but after that delectable sample I went with the Thai tea + boba! My cousin got their Iced Vietnamese Coconut Coffee and she expressed the instant delicious taste of quality superior to her usual spot. We also got two bagels, Da acknowledged that his mother made the bagels fresh as well as all of the cream cheese/spreads! Now at this point we had to complement his mother because of the quality, care, and hard work she's put into their cafe. Also the fact that the bagels were soft, crispy toasted, warm, and scrumptious! I got the Cheddar Jalapeño and she got the Everything both with salmon spread. It had bits of smoky salmon and capers that was a pleasant surprise. We enjoyed our drinks and bites in-house while listening to such a great musical playlist they had going. The first song we noticed was the famous Harry Potter song, then a few songs from various Studio Ghibli movies, and other instrumental music that just felt good. Their furniture and decor was inviting and soothing. We loved the pop of green including plants and art through out the cafe. A great place to have a meeting, get some work done, or even just simply enjoy the moment. This is hands down my new favorite place that I hope to be able to visit again soon. If you love tea, or even if you don't, this cafe is worth trying. Maybe you haven't been introduced to high quality tea, iced or hot. Their menu has something for everyone, I can't wait to go back and support this beautiful small business!

The seating here is really cute and they opened up so early it's so nice to be able to stop by before work and get a bagel and drinks. The owner is so kind and brings everything in from Taiwan. She is kind and they opened up about 8 months ago. The place is new but they do matcha and viet coffee. The food is great for breakfast too.

It's ok. Not a big fan of wait time. Probably won't return but if I'm in the area might give them another shot.

Plenty of seating and shared parking with Walgreens. Walking distance from the community park. A good spot to pick up a drink on the way home, stay and study or meet up for coffee with a friend .

Really great shop with good food and a lot of space and seating. I got the bagel breakfast sandwich which was fantastic. They make their own bagels which is also a plus! They have a lot of tea and drinks you can select from as well. The shop is ran by a mom and her son who were both very warm and friendly. Id highly recommend anyone drop by to grab good and cheap breakfast food and drinks!

Today I went to Yuu Tea for a quick pick me up on a rainy day! I got the Sun Moon Lake milk tea which was imported from Taiwan and the milk to tea proportion was perfect! The beautiful tea taste shined through and the boba had a great consistency. I also got the egg waffle with the housemade custard which was creamy and rich and paired well with the warm and crispy egg waffle! A beautiful space with high ceilings and friendly service - would come back!

Coconut coffee to go!

Visited Yuu Tea Cafe as part of an Elite event and ordered the Iced Vietnamese Coconut Coffee. We told them we were traveling a bit of distance with it and they were very kind to pack up the coconut foam separately so it would save well! The coffee itself was delicious and the space was very convenient to get to (they even had a parking lot which is so rare in Seattle)!

Violet Passion Milk Tea
Rachel S.

When walking into the cafe i was greeted. The worker was happy to answer questions and provide recommendations where needed. The overall cafe was so cute and the seating was extremely comfortable. I came while running errands but would definitely take time to relax next time i went. I ordered the Violet Passion Milk Tea with normal sugar. The drink itself was delicious but i did get a couple seeds which didn't pair well when chewing the boba. Otherwise the tea paired quite nice with the milk and is a great caffeine free option.

Soooooo... had an interesting experience here. I heard from my sis that they have several kinds of matcha here and that their bagels and other pastry items are fresh and made in-house every day. We both decided to go together on a Tuesday around 12pm affter having an early lunch. This is in Columbia City and shares its parking with nearby businesses like Walgreens and Domino's Pizza, and there's a bunch of it. Given that, this area is sketchy... I'll just leave it at that. The inside of the place says otherwise; there's big windows that let in a ton of natural light, comfy seats with wooden tables to go along with them, and a very quiet and peaceful vibe despite all the cars roaming around during lunch/rush hour. There are two entrances to this place, one just outside the sidewalk and the other closer to Walgreens from the parking lot. You could easily relax here and/or do some work. You order up at the front, and the menu for this place spans several panels, with offerings like milk tea, coffee, matcha, specialty drinks, bagels and pastries. We found it odd that our server didn't ask me or my sis for any adjustments on sugar and ice levels, or milk substitutions on either of our drinks; we had to ask for them ourselves. I decided to get their matchamisu, and my sis got their taro milk tea with less ice and sugar. My matchamisu was very sweet, though both the matcha and tiramisu flavors were noticeable and never totally overpowered the other. I liked the taste of my sis's taro milk tea as well; it was fresh and aromatic, and was not at all artificial like some other milk tea places. Sad part about this is that she two very small flies that somehow made it into one of the ice cubes in her drink. We were disturbed and pretty disgusted and wondered of anything else made it into my drink even though I drank most of mine. If I get those flies off my mind, then the flavors here actually hit really hard. I'd be down to come back for their other menu items and also try their other matcha drinks! I'm pretty happy there's another milk tea place that's within a comfortable driving distance as well.

I went on a Saturday morning around 1030 and there was only a small line, which moved very quickly. This is not a cafe - you are here to buy bagels and the fixings. Okay, they also sell coffee and tea, muffins, and a yummy chocolate chip cookie. (Had to try one if I'm coming all the way from downtown!) Bagels were baked perfectly. The bagel itself was smaller than a typical bagel and had some capers and a small amount of cooked (not smoked) mashed up salmon in the center school lunch cafeteria style. The bagel was chewy but lacked any crispiness on the outside. Basic, not generous, amount of cream cheese. The salmon had barely detectable flavor if any, while most of the flavor came from the capers. Overall, I felt a bit like I had been scammed. The chocolate chip cookie was actually pretty good. Not great, but good enough. Note about the service: I walked up to the counter to order and asked if they would bring it out--the person i ordered from said yes--so I tipped accordingly. I took a seat in the main seating area on the patio and poured myself a glass of water from the self service station. After around 20 minutes of waiting and looking inside to see if anyone was coming out i walked in and asked one of the people preparing bagels if someone was going to bring my order out. He looked confused, pointing to a row of bags on the counter, one of which was my order. Now, I tip generously for service, but more often than not i don't tip when I order and pick up my own food at a counter. Again, I felt a bit scammed. There are much better bagel options in Seattle, and certainly ones that don't ask $16 for such an unremarkable one that I had.

This place doesn't screw around. If you want a great, hearty, flavor-packed sandwich, this is one of the best places to throw your money. But, as others have pointed out, it's no cheap date: expect to pay over $20 for one of those mighty pastrami sandwiches.
