Second meal of the trip and it was delicious. I've been to Paris before and there are restaurants that are subpar and prey on the ignorance of tourists. Luckily, Les Cocottes is not one of those. Reservations are easy to make and online. You don't need to talk to anyone in broken French and no credit card was required to make the reservation. Please note that everyone in the table must order something. My mother-in-law wasn't very hungry and just wanted an appetizer. However, the server said the restaurant requires everyone to order a plate or two appetizers. She opted for two appetizers and they were both delicious. My husband ordered the steak and it was delicious. He likes his meat medium rare and this was actually the first time it was cooked properly. The steak was delicious and the potatoes that came with it were perfectly seasoned with crisp outer edges. I ordered the lamb with beans. It was good but quite heavy. What was interesting is that all the dishware was from Staub. Great restaurant to eat at if you are going to see the Eiffel Tower. read more

It was a lovely surprise to stop at this place and get the best food in the area. We started with their appetizer specials, and it was the best "Devil eggs" we had tried. In addition, we ordered Tuna steak, the best dish on the menu. This is a must try! and Steak - everything was fabulous. Service: the service was excellent! Best place to eat in Paris, handsdown. It's a MUST. Service is great, very clean, and just great vibes all around. And the food was phenomenal! Only con, is that it's slightly pricey, but it is definitely worth it! I had a group of 6 people, and they accommodated to us, adjusted the tables and chairs, and seated us right away. We were lucky enough to come at a good time, right before rush hours (as we were leaving, there was a line of people waiting), which was about 8pm on a Sunday. I definitely recommend getting the "le menu des cocottes" -- basically a special of the day meal (which includes the appetizer, entree, cheese, and dessert) all for 37 euros! The specials they had on the day we went were: lobster ravioli: it was cooked to perfection! the lobster did not have a harsh seafood/salty taste. the lobster taste was still there and had a very pure and "clean" taste. the broth for the lobster ravioli was very refreshing as well and was a great choice for the appetizer. veal stuffed with ham and cheese over risotto: the veal was very tender and the ham and cheese complimented nicely! the risotto with the veal juice was one of the best risottos we've ever had. it was cooked to perfection, not too soft or too hard. i guarantee that even if you are iffy about eating risotto or that you're not a huge fan of it, this would change you're mind. basque country cheese: it was good! the jam on the side gave a great taste to the cheese, but nothing stood out too much about this dish to me, unless you're a huge fan of cheese, you'll really appreciate it. almond cream cake: surprisingly one of my favorite parts of the meal. the cake was so soft and it just overall was amazing. I could've finished it in 10 seconds if I really wanted to. a nice way to end the meal without being too heavy on the stomach. we also got two more dishes since i was sharing with my boyfriend and we figured we should probably get some more appetizer and entree which were: lobster bisque: amazing! again, it wasn't too heavy compared to usual lobster bisque which was cooked perfect as an appetizer. there were so many pictures on yelp of this so i had to try and it was worth it! pigeon: by far my FAVORITE pick of all the choices. it was extremely tender, tasteful, and something i've never had before. i would definitely come back here just to eat this again. and the portion is big enough to fill you up if eaten alone. beef stew: super soft and tasty as well! didn't stand out to me as much compared to the rest of the food, but it was good! read more

A place I would return, specifically for its squid risotto. Reserve when you can, the place can get crowded. We got eggplant caviar, beef cheek stew, potato stuffed pig trotter, squid risotto, and the rice pudding. We both loved the beef cheek and pork trotter, but the squid risotto was out of this world. The squid was first stir-fried and then serviced with the risotto that was very well flavored. You can smell the squid all the way from the kitchen. We would simply come back again for the squid risotto. The beef cheek was stewed very well, it was not stiff at all, good with rice or bread. The pig trotter was well seasoned and panfried with potato, and the vege creates a good balance. for the dish overall. The eggplant caviar and rice pudding were the two we felt mediocre, probably because the mains are so good? The price is appropriate and I believe the service was above par. Average food. We ordered the escargot, the beef cheeks, and the risotto. The escargots weren't in their shells, but they tasted alright. The risotto with squid was overly salted but also tasted alright. The beef cheeks were tender and the flavor was alright. The food was overall average and didn't wow me. But if you aren't looking for that "wow" factor then this is place perfectly fine. Ask for un carafe d'eau and the tap water will come in a y'all glass bottle and you won't be charged 3 euros for still water. The total cost was 67 euros. The service could be improved as they seem understaffed and nobody greeted us for a good few minutes when we walked through the door. The bread basket is always promptly refilled though so I applaud them for that. Eat this if you don't have any better options in the area. Also it's open on Sundays when a lot of others aren't. Without question one of the best meals I had visiting Paris. We didn't have reservations and upon arrival our party of four was informed we needed to wait a while, about 30-45 mins and they were full to the brim and had reservations. I believed it because the restaurant crowed. The reviews were great so we decided to wait. We ordered Champagne and waited for about 35 minutes or so. The gentleman at the front was nice enough to give us some complimentary glasses of champagne for our wait, hey I'll never reject free drinks! We were seated and looked at the menu. We decided to go with: Sentinelle Oysters, Cream of Lobster, Egg Mayonnaise with truffle, Roasted Lamb and Squid Pasta Risotto. Sentinelle Oysters: Very fresh, very large, extremely delicious. What really added flavor to these was the vinaigrette on the side. If you like oysters this is a great starter. Cream of Lobster: This was magnificent! The lobster flavor was evident in each zip of this cream / bisque. Several different species were also apparent throughout the dish but this elegant cream did not disappoint. Lamb: Wow! Extremely flavorful, tender, moist and most important of all there was no fat. The mixture of onions was very savory, especially the pearl onions which paired very well with the lamb. Egg Mayonnaise: These little deviled eggs were fire! Tasty and quite filling for the size, there stature is small but there flavor is quite spectacular. This place has pretty good French food and it's a nice modern restaurant to visit if you have a reservation. We got the 3 course meal which was recommended by fellow Yelpers. Woww the ratatouille veal special was absolutely delicious. The flavors were put together so nicely and the veal was very tender and absorbed the sweetness of the tomato and the onions. Excellent choice. It was an incredibly hot day so we wish the restaurant was ventilated a bit better as they did not have AC. This place was great! We were walking back to our hotel during lunch and were scoping out places to eat and this place was open and the aromas emanating out the door were intoxicating. It was right next door the Michelin star Cafe Constant by Christian Constant and this was also his place. The place next door was much fancier and this place more casual but had similar items on the menu (reminds me of Nobu and next door Nobu in NYC). This was the best lunch we had in Paris hands down. Waiters did not speak much English but with what they knew of English and what I remember from HS French we got by no problem. The wait staff were very friendly and attentive. The food came out fast. It has a fun club euro vibe inside. Had the Basque ham here and it practically melted in your mouth, it was so good we had to get two more orders! I had the Langoustine ravioli with foamed Langoustine sauce, my goodness it was fantastique! The (French) onion soup is the best we ever had. The fresh baguettes were heavenly. We randomly stumbled upon Les Cocottes on a Saturday night, and although the restaurant was packed out, we were lucky enough to snag a spot for two at the bar. Not the most ideal, but when you don't have reservations anywhere on a Saturday night at 9 you've got to take what you can get. The menu (and interior) was very modern. This is not where you go if you're looking for standard steak frites or duck. We started off with an order of lobster bisque. Although the portion size was large and the flavor was great, the consistency was a bit off. Instead of being creamy and soupy it sort of felt like I was sipping on foam. I also wish that there were more then just a couple teeny croutons on top. For my main, I ordered the lobster ravioli. The bowl came out literally looking exactly like the bisque. It was basically like a replica of the lobster bisque, just with two teeny and mushy pieces of ravioli in the dish. And for that small portion, the price was pretty steep- 28 euros. Luckily, my boyfriend's entree was much better. He ordered some sort of beef stew with penne and the beef was extremely tender and flavorful. Because I wasn't too satisfied with my meal I ended up ordering the arugula salad with bacon. The salad had a tangy vinaigrette dressing and came topped with tons of bacon, which is always A+ in my book. The ambiance was great and because of that I'd come back on a future trip to Paris for a glass of wine with some dessert or an app. But unfortunately, I wasn't too wowed with the entree selection or the prices. I personally do not really care for French food except their bakeries. But Les Cocottes offered me something I actually could like. I tell you it is not going to be cheap and the portions are small too so you have to order a course or multiple items off the menu. I ordered a lobster bisque, crab salad and a half portion of waffles with caramel and cream. My husband ordered a lobster pasta, thinking it was going to be big enough to be his entree. Oh boy was he wrong lol My favorite was the soup and the waffle...but again everything was delicious. The service was not bad but could have been better for being such a famous upscale restaurant in Paris. I recommend this place to anyone who is not a huge fan of French food. We were actually going to Cafe Constant two stores down but the wait was too long. Instead, we came to this restaurant, also owned by Chef Christian Constant right before our Eiffel Tower visit. Surprisingly, there was no wait on a Sunday night prime time and we got seated right away at the bar. Our waitresses were very friendly and enjoyed chatting with tourists. We tried their bacon with poached egg salad and it was very good. For entree, we got the pigeon and pig's feet with potatoes. Both are very delicious!I think the pig's feet is an absolute winner and the pigeon is also excellent. We ended our dinner with their famous waffle with cream and caramel syrup. What a great way to end the night on Christmas Day. After a nice trek up and down the Eiffel Tower I was recommended to this nice little cozy place to eat and boy was that a great choice. Food was so delicious that I ordered three plates and 3 entrees for two people. That doesn't include dessert but I would highly recommend the cod fillet and the prawn and crab salad. I love this place!! I love that they dont take reservation, all you have to do is get there before 7:15pm and you are gaurantee to have a seat. The place fills up quickly so make sure to get that early! We got there at 6:50 and were seated at the bar (tables are only for 4 people or more so most likely you will be seated at the bar area). We ordered the ravioli in a lobster cream and a crab salad, both of them are so good! For entree my husband got this pigeon dish and after just one bite he could not stop grinning becos it was that good. I got the john dory special which was perfectly cooked as well! They sell wine by the glass for 6 euro each which is pretty reasonable priced. We left the restaurant extremely full and happy. Miss paris already!! read more

Out of every amazing place to eat at in París, I'm so sad that I chose this one for my last night in the city. Despite the restaurant being more than half empty, staff insisted on sitting everyone next to each other on the small bar. I was also seated right in front of the sink and it was not fun to spend my entire meal watching staff wash dishes or feeling the splash back. The manager found my COVID concerns very funny and even joked if I wanted to use my own pen for the check instead of his. Definitely not worth the food! read more

This was the last place we ate in Paris, it's a small little place but we were able to get in after a 10 min wait. The food was so good and the way they presented it was beautiful. They used fresh and local ingredients and the waiter picked out a fantastic wine to have with dinner. They do not serve hard alcohol except for 1 gin drink and 1 vodka drink. We found this place through Yelp. One or more of the Yelp reviews mentioned Anthony Bourdain's No Reservations, on the Travel Channel, covering Les Cocottes. To be honest, this being our eighth day of being immersed in the languages of Europe, hearing and seeing some Americans while abroad ain't so bad. I didn't feel like it took me out of the Europe experience or anything. The wait for a table for two on a Thursday night was about 35 minutes. We spent a good hour and a half dining... it was nice to give our scooby doos a rest after Champs-Élysées. In our interaction with the hostess and waiter, we found that they spoke fluent English. Nice. Les vins These were recommended by the waiter. As wine doesn't agree with me when taken with food, I can't say much about it. Being from wine country, we inevitably find occasions to drink anyway. Being tired, in a hyped restaurant, on vacation, and abroad are all good reasons to drink. :D I liked the white (Mâcon-Villages Henry Fessy 2010 AOC €4) for its light and fruity taste. The red (Lussac Saint Emilion 2008, Château Haut-Gazeau AOC, €5) was more like a merlot/cab and I prefer pinot, but if you like merlot maybe you'll like this. I don't know. You should probably ask the waiter. :) Les salades Poached egg with crispy bacon and rocket salad, €10 - I could have done without this salad, but sometimes you just have to eat some vegetables. It could've tasted better, though. The bacon wasn't that good. It was done cubed pork belly style but wasn't crispy enough; just a bit tough to chew. The dressing was just okay. The best part was probably the egg. Order the César salad instead. Les potages Velouté of mushroom soup with foie gras Chantilly cream, €8 - This was so freaking good. It has some tricks up its sleeve. It doesn't look impressive, at first glance or even at first taste, but we definitely found each element of the soup standing out. It was creamy but not too rich. We cleaned this up. Suggestions «cocottes» Prime veal steak "en cocotte" with vegetable blanquette, €28 - I really liked this, though after the flavorful soup just slightly on the bland side. I loved the color though with all the vegetables. Wood pigeon stuffed with foie gras cooked on toasted crouton, €28 - This was one tough bird. I've had quail stuffed with foie gras at Gary Danko in San Francisco and that bird was a lot easier to eat. To be fair, though, the sauce for this dish was amazing. I just wish the pigeon was a better vessel for that sauce. The toasted croutons were not as good, though; it got soggy and it didn't seem to go well with the rest of the dish. We pretty much left these untouched. It was slightly weird to be eating pigeon after seeing the endless flocks of them in Milan and Venice. Like, am I eating THOSE pigeons? I didn't see what farm it came from or its birth certificate, so who knows. No room for dessert... plus we had some macarons to attach from Ladurée. The waiter was pretty busy, so we didn't see much of him or get the water refills we needed. He gave us some directions to the subway after looking at our map. He seemed okay. After he saw the tip he got much more enthusiastic. He reiterated the directions and added more details (and flair) by gesturing wildly. Mmkay. read more

Sleek, modern and comfortable is what I recall from my meal here. The waitresses spoke English and had menus in many languages since the crowd was quite eclectic. Since I was alone, I had no problem getting seated, but in the middle of my meal, it started getting really busy. I started off with the soup of the day, which was a butternut squash soup with chestnut pieces and a dollop of cream on top. It was very nice, but I like my soup to be hotter rather than a degree above warm. However, they probably did that so that the cream wouldn't melt as quickly. I appreciated the flavors and the cream was very delicious. I couldn't resist the scallops with endives. I am not quite sure that I like endives that much, but I did eat everything. The scallops were nicely done. They were thick pieces, so a few were just a touch above perfection, but I had some perfect ones. The flavor for the scallops were simple, which made it taste so much better. I don't expect to get full off this meal, and I hate when they pour water too quickly for you to say no when you already ordered wine... but I didn't have a problem with this after this meal at other restaurants, and it was probably because my French was getting better. My wife and I first tried this place when we first visited Paris three years ago. We rented an Airbnb about a block down the road and this place was highly recommended by the owner. This past week we came back for a second time. Hands down this is our favorite restaurant that we have visited in our time in Paris. It doesn't matter what you get at this Michelin Star restaurant you are sure to love it. You'll probably have to wait outside in a short line before you'll get seated, but you won't have to wait long. Just make sure you don't go too late. A few of the dishes on the menu we couldn't not get because they were completely gone for the night. I don't know if it was because Europe was on the cusp of a long weekend for a national holiday and they didn't want to restock or what. I have no idea. Just show up early. Anyway, once you finish dinner you have to try the amazing desserts. The service was pretty good overall by waiting staff. They were doing there best to keep up on a busy Saturday night. Be careful here. I was just denied a reservation for 7 people that I made 3 months ago even after I showed them the confirmation email I had on my phone. They claimed they were fully booked and could not seat us and sent us away. It was even more frustrating since the restaurant was near empty at the time. I love this place. I first came here in April 2016, and it's just as wonderful and delicious. I went for the poached egg, cod, and the chocolate tart. I've been dreaming about this tart since I first had it last year. The egg dish is delicious - there's this really tasty balsamic glaze on the bacon. It's very filling. The cod was superb - it came with an assortment of perfectly cooked vegetables. The tart needs no review - just look at its picture. It's heaven in your mouth. We also had great service, and even though there were 3 couples in front of us, we got seated in under ten minutes at 7 PM on a Sunday. I don't understand the negative reviews. I got fries and steak, the fries were delicious but the steak was too tuff, and I asked for medium. The fish was very gamy I felt like it needed more spices. The ambiance of the restaurant was quite modern, with places to hang your jacket or bag at your table. We ordered a couple items from the menu. The escargot was pretty good, but the shellfish bisque was nothing unique. I wish the bisque was thicker vs watery, don't let the thin top layer of cream fool you! My husband had the lamb shoulder chops which was tasty but the beef cheeks stew that I ordered was overly salty.
