People go here for one thing and it's the obvious one, malasadas. But I would like to highlight another item that is quite tasty as well, which is the butter mochi. Since you are getting sweets, black coffee balances out the bites well but each person has a preference with their coffee. [[HIGHLIGHT]]While crowd seems intimidating, they are just waiting for their order.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] You order inside and wait outside for pickup. You can also call in and pick up as well. Saves time tbh. As for the malasadas, it is a fluffy donut texture with sugar coating the outside. You can get sugar, cinnamon sugar or li hing. Filling options are custard (best), chocolate, haupia (coconut), macadamia, guava, and lilikoi. Tasted amazing! Only reason they didn't get a 5 star is due to their unfriendliness and interaction. Sad but it is what it is.

So glad we were able to grab these warm, delicious malasadas one of the mornings in Honolulu. They were SO good and FRESH! It was extremely crowded, but rightfully so. We struggled to find parking, so we did what multiple people were doing: stopping the car to the side and having a few people go grab the doughnuts. We tried to try all the flavors, and my favorites were definitely the macadamia and custard. Surprisingly, the dobash (chocolate) wasn't a favorite. If I'm ever in town again, I'm 1000% getting these. I also loved the story behind Leonard's Bakery. Beautiful.

Parking is tight, but I appreciate that there was someone outside navigating each car. [[HIGHLIGHT]]No tables to sit.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]When you enter *KEEP THR DOOR CLOSED* lol there are signs to keep it closed, but people seem to miss that.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] To order, you go in one door and wait outside to pick up at the window. You cannot go wrong ordering anything from here! With that said, all the sweet treats are soft fluffy and warm. The flavors are perfectly made not too sweet .. even the cream filled ones! We also picked up stickers- great quality, thick and waterproof! ($6 pack of 5) We had to get shirts as well which were super soft! ($21) Adult sizes range from S-XXL. SERIOUSLY.. from the Malasadas to the shirts to the stickers! Q-U-A-L-I-T-Y !!!

I was like, "How good can these doughnut-looking things really be?" But they totally lived up to the hype. The texture so good. They came out warm, fluffy, and light. Today's special flavor was raspberry, but we got the macadamia, haupia, and guava. They were all so good! They often have long lines, but we got lucky today, and the wait wasn't too bad. We loved the souvenir shirts too and loved the price. Service: A+++

Hot Malasada!!! Nothing beats the taste of a warm malasada. The lines are long, but they go pretty quickly. Your malasadas are made to order, so know that you're going to wait at least 5-10 minutes. I ordered the original, cinnamon sugar and the custard. Can you say a box of deliciousness? We stopped at Starbucks in Waikiki and enjoyed our coffee and malasadas beach side. This screams vacation perfection! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The only down side is there is no seating to enjoy your food there.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] But hey, you're less than a mile from the beach, head on over there to enjoy breakfast with a view.

I had heard many things about Leonard's malasadas before going so the anticipation was high. I loved how they were cooked fresh and were hot as soon I was given them. I got the guava and haupia fillings. The malasadas were tasty but I think the filling was ok! Next time I'll need to try a different one. There's usually a line but it goes really fast.

My husband and I had to try Leonard's Bakery while we were on vacation in Hawaii, and it definitely did not disappoint! The malasadas were served hot and fresh, and the custard filling was absolutely delicious. You can really taste how fresh they are, and they were well worth the stop. The customer service was also very friendly, and the ordering process was quick and easy. Just keep in mind there isn't any seating inside you place your order, then wait outside for your number to be called. If we ever make it back to Oahu, Leonard's Bakery will definitely be one of our first stops. Highly recommend!

Very busy on a Sunday morning but line to order was short and we waited under 10 minutes for our order to be ready. We shared the original malasadas and the custard malasada puff. Both were pretty solid. Fresh and good fluffy texture. I like filling so I preferred the custard malasada puff more.

This place was so cool! [[HIGHLIGHT]]the aesthetics were so cute inside with a pink 50s vibe.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] it was my first time trying malasadas so I was excited. We got a whole bunch to try and I loved every single flavor. They make all of these fresh and you can tell once you bite into the bread. I wish I could've took these on the plane with me.

    Linguica in a sweet roll
    Victoria R.

Leonard's is iconic, so I had to go and I ended up going twice. First time I ordered an original malassada and linguica in the Hawaiian bread. I grew up eating linguica (not sure why everywhere lists it as Portuguese sausage when the it's called linguica. We don't do the same thing to chorizo), so I was super happy with the quality of the hot sausage. Bread to sausage ratio is a bit much, but still delicious. The original malassada was superior to the flavor malassada I got on my second visit. Line is long, but moves fast. Parking is suuuuper limited. This is a must try! HOT TIP - eat your donut immediately while it is still warm!

    Vanni C.

They are very sweet and definitely a shareable treat staff and security were kind parking is limited but it's worth the trouble

I saw this place go viral on tik tok and many locals talk very great things about malasadas. I had to come check it out for myself to see what the hype was all about. The line is always long so be prepared to wait at least 30-45 mins. In addition parking is atrocious here so you will definitely spend some extra minutes looking for parking. I had the following flavors below: *Custard 4/5 - The malasadas themselves are fresh. Each bite it is crunchy, warm and boasting with flavor. The custard was good. *Dobash(chocolate) 3/5 - Average chocolate. I love chocolate but it may have been a little too sweet for me. *Haupia(Coconut) 3/5 - It was okay, i definitely preferred other flavors. *Macadamia Nut 5/5 - I wish i just ordered this flavor cause man was this so good ! It was sweet but also had the macadamia nut and vanilla flavor. *Guava 4/5 - Caught me off guard, I was not expecting it to taste good or that fresh. Respectable mention. These malasadas were fresh, crunchy, and gooey inside. I did like them as a breakfast treat or nice quick snack. I will say that most of the flavors and malasadas are pretty sweet. Another thing to mention is that do not reheat well, so its more of eat them at the moment or they do not taste as good later on. Overall I would come back here again next time I am on Oahu !

    Lee M.

You can't go to Hawaii and not have Leonard's I mean, I've had Masaladas at other spots but something about Leonard's just hits it It's crunchy and soft - good selection of flavours . Go get some ! Long line up at certain times but hey.... Still get it

Ask the Community - Leonard's Bakery

Do they ship to the mainland?

No, but you can pack it up to go with you on the plane.

    Anything gluten free?

I didn't see any at the time we visited, but their menu does advertise macaroons and butter mochi which may be gluten free.

I could not order for delivery through Door Dash or Uber Eats. Very disappointed. I called them at Leonard's and they said order through Door Dash but they do not have Leonard's listed. Do they deliver or not?😟

    https://www.doordash.com/store/leonard's-bakery-honolulu-24742124/ I was able to Google Leonard's…

Can you take it home to the main land?

Yeah, but order it with no sugar. Instead ask for a a side of sugar. When you get there, reheat them in the microwave or air fryer, and sprinkle the sugar on top. Will taste (practically) like new.

Do they take phone orders for large amounts for pick up?

Yes. But give them a lot of advanced notice

Do they have anything that is dairy-free?

Nothing that I remember seeing there. So I guess not.

Is it safe to eat the original malasadas for people with peanut allergy?

I don't think I saw peanuts nor peanut oil on their menu

Sadly we missed out this trip... do you ever go to festivals in California?

    Food festivals yes

Are they open on holidays? More specifically, will they be open tomorrow, 9/5 for Labor Day?

Yes, they are open on some holidays, including Labor Day.

    Hi Do you delivery?

    No, no delivery

    Are they cash only?

You can use a card unless it's under a certain amount. I think around $5

Are there savory options or just sweet?

They have a few savory options that are sausages or ham and cheese wraps in sweet bread pastry. Take a look at their website for their menu. They are mainly in demand for…

To the locals...Did Leonard's change their recipe?? I've been eating Leonard's for over 40 years. I ate malasadas twice within a month. The dough seems more dense now (my friends agree). Miss the old recipe!!!😫

Locals say they did…. I’ll tell you they are very dense… but delicious.

Can Leonard's Bakery Gift Cards be used at mobile locations?

    Yes. Here's a link that explains Leonard's Bakery Hawai'i Gift Cards: "https://www.giftly.com/gift-card/leonards-bakery-honolulu"

How can I get them delivered?

Hello, On their website is says no delivery. So sorry!…

Does anyone have nutritional information on one Malasada? How many calories? Fat ... saturated fat? sugar? And no snide comments from fat pre existing condition kine?

I mean if you ate a dozen in one sitting and you start sweating, get chills, and faint - you went into a diabetic shock so that will answer the sugar question. Now, if you squeeze one of the malasadas and you see oil, that answers your fat question,…

Do you have items that do not include; eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, sesame or shellfish?

Of course ... get your donut Down to Earth

    Do you have a bathroom?

    No they don't

    Do you deliver?

I know you can order online and just pick up. But don't think they deliver not sure.

What time does this location close?

I believe they close at 7pm now

Hubs had to fast from 6 am for his 2 pm surgery so I thought he would probably be starving and would enjoy a delectable salt and butter roll from here. At $4.50 a piece I consider this a luxury for us. I found a close stall in the parking structure. A very cheerful polite male employee took my order. I had seen two occupied tables as I walked into the shop. Both had matcha drinks. Why not? I asked the young man assisting me, what's the best matcha drink? He said his favorite was banana matcha with extra banana foam. Okay I'll try it. He repeated it to the cashier. So popular there was a wait for beverages to be prepared. Soon enough mine was ready. I think Doc would enjoy this drink. This shop is a working bakery. Many yummy pastries displayed. Menu is posted high up above to choose from. Rather tiny shop with room for customers to stand in line to order and wait for drinks. Clean, busy with a few tables and chairs outside but pretty much in direct sun.

However, there are many alternative malasada purveyors throughout Honolulu, so I depended on local vloggers to find the best ones. We took the opportunity to stop by for a pre-dinner snack since they closed at 6PM. It's a cute shop with multiple sweets including quite a selection of housemade ice cream and delectable mouthfuls called Cake Bombs (Photo 10). We decided we would be good and ordered one unfilled Malasada each. Dusted with various sugar flavors, they were just $2.65 a piece. I went for the Coffee, while Jamie chose the daily special, Cinnamon (Photo 6). They were soft and tasty, quite comparable to Leonard's albeit a tad smaller. That wasn't necessarily a bad thing since we had dinner ahead of us.
