Wedding Donuts!
Tristan M.

5 Stars is NOT enough! We got married today a block away, just something small with the plan to celebrate with family later. Went for coffee in the same plaza & noticed Purvé. I went in & asked if there was any chance of getting a wedding-esque surprise donut. The owner I believe (Nick) made us 2 donuts personally, went above & beyond with the presentation, then completely comped them! I was honestly blown away. That level of kindness is rare, & it meant more to us than I can even explain. The donuts? DELICIOUS!! Fresh, beautiful, and absolutely one of the best batters I have ever had. Literally couldn't have asked for better. The whole experience was effortless, thoughtful, & unforgettable. I will be telling this as part of our little wedding story until I'm no longer walking this planet. If you're even thinking about going, do it. Stop thinking & just go. Support this place. I cannot say enough good things about this place or the experience. WE will definitely be back many times as we start our 3 year adventure of beginning to live here. This will likely become some kind of tradition. I forgot to say LOOK AT HOW STINKIN CUTE THEY WERE TOO!! Literally couldn't have been better.

How cute is this?!

Went again! LOL. If I lived closer, this would be a daily stop. Fresh donuts for you daily! If you are visiting, grab a box or two before you leave Hawaii! Awesome staff and what's not to love about this store? You have to look 360° and don't forget to look at the exit sign! Supercute paintings throughout. Grab a shirt or sticker as well!

Came here after zippys and it it the spot for me. My first time but our friends have been here before. I got the chocolate mint, the donut itself was warm freshly made. I loved the texture and the taste of the donut. The mint wasn't too minted but it didn't bother me I enjoyed it very much. It was yummy yum yum. The lemon one was alittle tart just the way my friend likes it. The Mac but and chocolate one was delicious eat it right away we drive home and even though it. Was 10 minutes up the hill the chocolate melted a bit and not thick looking like the display sample. Either way it wasn't pretty but tasted yummy. I'll be back for sure.

Love coming to this place after having my poke bowl from Foodland. The staff is always so nice. When we bring our group of friends and dogs, they will always come outside to give us plain donuts for the dogs. I am typically not a fan of cake-like donuts, but these are really good. I like any of their donuts that have the lemon glaze on it (Unicorn butt sneeze is so good)! They are always made fresh and I suggest eating it right when you get them.

Super glad to have the chance to visit Purve on National Donut Day! Picked up a Hulk Smash, the free Chai donut, and an iced tea. Oh yum! And- I breezed through the line, and the donuts were delivered to me while I was putting the straw in my cup! Thank you so much!! Sorry, devoured everything without taking a pic! Because they were warm and fresh, after all! And gosh, the line was definitely out the door as I was leaving;) Great vibe, bright lighting. Had to teach a first timer the ropes, he couldn't decide, didn't know where to queue up, and such. No problem, enjoy your first, it won't be your last!

Holy moly! Purvé has some of my favorite cake donuts! They have the usual dessert and savory breakfast sandwiches that use their plain donuts. My husband and I love ordering from here. Love the texture of the donuts and they have such fun donut names. My favorite donuts are 'You're Killing Me, Smalls' (a s'mores flavored donut) and 'Umpa Lumpa Moist Dreamsicle' (an orange glaze with cream cheese donut). They both have the perfect amount of sweetness! I also love the unicorn sticker they put on their boxes. I like using them for my scrapbook! Highly recommend stopping by!

Love the creative donuts. Use the menu in center table to mark off main donut then extras, when done then go to the cashier, pay , and wait for your creation to b made. Great ambiance of a cute unicorn all over the place. Courteous and patient workers. I bought a unicorn shirt. Enjoyed the tastiest donuts.

Unicorns and sugar and donuts, oh my! They definitely have a marketing expert on the team because how can you go wrong with donuts mixed with a unicorn motif and Dirty, suggestive names for the product?! Probably not a place to bring your kids who ask a lot of questions about what things mean, but this is a great donut Shop for adults. If you do have to buy your kids donuts, don't bring them in the store. They had quite the selection, and although it is all cake donuts, they were very light and fluffy like a yeast doughnut would be. The flavor combinations were classic yet interesting and they did a really good job with the flavors. This is a high-quality gourmet donut with a very fun spin. You should definitely try them out. I would highly recommend them.

Great cake donut, one of the best. They make it when you order it, so fresh. Ambience: 10/10 Food: 10/10 Price: 10/10 Service: 10/10

Progress at its best. Preface by saying Purve is one of my favorite places to get my donuts from but now... you can join their points club. Owners Nick and Brion were kind enough to offer a $10 gift card redeemable at their Kahala location. to keep this in perspective, $10 will get you 3 free donuts. Those who get Purve donuts know you can't just get 3 donuts. What? How can you try all the flavors? And you have to love that Unicorn.

Jess C.

Purve has the coolest donut combinations, super fresh donuts, and the kindest, friendliest staff ever. They are helpful, but not pushy. I think they are vegan too!

Went to Purve after a long hiatus......ordered four aloha mac donuts......love the chocolate topping with the chopped mac nuts on top. Always wonderful love the texture and the fact they are not too sweet. I love cake like, dense ,donuts. Love yeast donuts too, but these are best with coffee....yum. Always good and consistent.

I and my husband were around here and just curious this place, then got inside. It was very different image what I had for donuts store. They make their donuts after taking customer's order, so it takes a time but always get fresh made donuts! The owner is friendly and kind, we enjoyed choosing which we order and waiting our order were making. There are order sheets and pens, you can see the picture on the menu and also donuts samples on the counter. You just mark on the order sheet and give it at the order counter. In the store, cute and pop painting on the wall and it's so fan to watch how our donuts are made! (Anyway, their donuts are not yeast donuts, and I'm not fan of the yeast donuts, so that point also I want to give them more star!) There was big order before us, so during waiting the owner gave us a sample donut that just fried,,,, it was hot but not greasy, very light and soooo good! We took home half dozen donuts, they were good but I LOVE to eat them hot & fresh at store!!! Well, they have lots of kind, so I'm sure I'd like to try another flavor again. Highly recommend donuts place here!!!!

Founder Leonard Rego pioneered commercializing them, creating a cult following for the crisp-on-the-outside, doughy-on-the-inside treats. There's nothing like a nice, hot, and fresh malasada. I don't really have a sweet tooth-I'm a no icing, no frosting kind of girl. I wouldn't dream of eating a cinnamon roll with icing, that's a no for me. But their donuts are delicious all the same and can definitely scratch the itch if you do have a sweet tooth. As someone who's vegan, it can be hard to find a dessert I actually feel good about, and this is one of those places. Everything is taro-based and cooked in coconut oil, which I really appreciate. Just a heads up-all of their donuts are taro donuts. The flavors come from the toppings, so if you see something like a strawberry one, the donut itself isn't strawberry--it's the topping. Their offerings change, ( they do have their core donuts that don't change-and I usually go for one "naked"--no glaze. Sometimes I'll get the honey and sea salt one. If you don't want a whole donut--or you're eating in your car and don't want to make a mess--their little donuts called Holeys are the perfect pop-in-your-mouth option. The place has always be well kept and clean - and they have a very spacious, and equally as clean, bathroom. They also have an app where you can check the menu, keep track of your rewards, and manage gift cards, which makes it really convenient. Also, if you're not signed up for their rewards program, do it. You're basically passing up free donuts if you don't. Give them a go, share your experience and if your taste buds celebrated. SYOY! My donut here ended up being quite good as it was light and you could really see the lamination in it. The coconut flakes on top added a nice flavor. My usual chocolate old fashioned was particularly good here... is that a hint of coconut oil? Or did I just have a little Hawaiian Tropic sunscreen on my fingers before I ate? No one knows. And at the end of the day, it doesn't matter. What does matter is that this place is a cool little donut shop that made me feel like a local when I walked in. The butterfish was delicious-perfectly cooked and seasoned. I loved their potato mac salad. The rice and corn complemented the meal well. The guava plantation iced tea was lightly sweetened. Breakfasts were also good here the portions were large; I couldn't finish everything on the plate. Stop by the bakery on the way out for some goodies for later!

I'm happy to see a local business thriving but I hope they can improve their customer flow. The baked goods looked as inviting as always but they seemed a day-old or something. The butter horn was hard and not flaky as I've come to expect and the chocolate of the Boston Creme donut wasn't creamy. They may wish to consider: 1, Clearly delineating the line for the restaurant from the bakery. It was super busy for both so there was a lot of confusion. 2. Perhaps placing the number machine for the bakery closer to the door? Tourists aren't familiar with the system so it leads to some unnecessary dissatisfaction. 3. The staff had to leave the counter to get coffee - hot or iced. The condiments for the coffee were on the showcase so people had to be in everyone's way to get their sugar and cream. In fact, if you were standing near the door you had to go through people waiting in line back into the establishment to get those items. But, with all this, the two ladies at the counter were remarkably composed and helpful.

Liliha Bakery - Onion Roll ($2.89) - very rich. Overall savory, but the dough is a bit sweet.

I love Pipeline Bakeshops Malasadas! I have been to several Malasada places in Hawaii but | love…read morethere's the best for the following reasons: 1. the size of the malasadas: some restaurants tend to make their Malasadas smaller and when places do this it ruins the overall texture and quality of it. The bigger the malasadas size the more airy and fluffy and more bread layers that will be inside. 2. their malasadas always taste fresh and the same quality each time. 3. their malasadas don't feel oily or heavy at all Overall I would highly recommend this place for their Malasadas! I'm so happy to have found them. I can back multiple times on my trip. They also have other desserts too that I have yet to try. They have ice cream, cakes, and other desserts Also tip: if you are ordering a malasada also order a coffee or a matcha drink to go with it. The cinnamon sugar from the malasada just matches so perfectly with a drink this restaurant is also a nice place for walking! There's lot of stores and restaurants to walk around! I'm trying to remember but I think there was a book off that was not too far from here! If you either drive or maybe walk. Service: staff was super helpful and friendly while I was there. I was having an issue with my online order because my phone was being glitchy and they were so nice in helping :) Also wanted to note their branding is so cute!! They even sell merch items too

Everyone knows to go to Leonard's for freshly made malasadas, and the constant crowds there attest…read moreto their quality and variety (review: https://yelp.to/jaduiZfQRq). However, there are many alternative malasada purveyors throughout Honolulu, so I depended on local vloggers to find the best ones. This one popped up often on YouTube, and as luck would have it, we were dining at The Pig & The Lady on the next block. How calorifically convenient. We took the opportunity to stop by for a pre-dinner snack since they closed at 6PM. It's a cute shop with multiple sweets including quite a selection of housemade ice cream and delectable mouthfuls called Cake Bombs (Photo 10). We decided we would be good and ordered one unfilled Malasada each. Dusted with various sugar flavors, they were just $2.65 a piece. I went for the Coffee, while Jamie chose the daily special, Cinnamon (Photo 6). They were soft and tasty, quite comparable to Leonard's albeit a tad smaller. That wasn't necessarily a bad thing since we had dinner ahead of us. However, we let temptation get the best of us and shared a $5.50 slice of the Ube Haupia Mac Nut Bar, a yummy combination of sweet potato and ube topped with haupia (coconut milk pudding) on a macadamia nut crust (Photo 9). Truth be told, it stole the show from the malasadas. FOOD - 4 stars... the malasadas were good, but that ube dessert was next level AMBIANCE - 4 stars...really a takeout operation with a lot of temptations SERVICE - 4 stars...very calm and orderly TOTAL - 4 stars...yet another spot for sweet Hawaiian decadence RELATED - Exploring Hawaii?
