12-29-16: a cool donut mural being completed so it's ready for the Dash for the Donuts on Sunday.

"Has it been that long?" 2026 is a special year for Donut King! It was 10 years ago that David decided to open his first Donut King shop in Hawaii, and he hasn't looked back. Home of the softest and fluffiest yeast donuts on the planet, the texture and taste are truly special. They have expanded their business and can now be found at four different locations. Donut King has also expanded their offerings and offer both sweet and savory items to meet your cravings. Nothing beats a simple glazed donut with coffee. So soft, so tasty, it's like biting into sweet air. Their chocolate logs are a favorite, that chocolate coating adds the perfect balance to the yeast donut log. Their cake donuts are superb like the rest- for something special, their red velvet cake donut is excellent! In fact, I would guess you'll like all their offerings- it just becomes a question of what you are in the mood for. So come celebrate Donut King's 10 anniversary year with a ono treat from the King of Donuts in Hawaii- DONUT KING.

I stopped by Donut King in Hawaii and tried a variety of donuts. A few were fresh and delicious, but some tasted like they had been sitting for a while. I think with better freshness control, this place could be much better. I'd like to give it another try. Service are just ok. Plenty of parking!

8:30am on a Saturday. Cheat day! Tons of parking in private lot. One door to enter, one door to exit. Please conform to the traffic flow. Clerks are super friendly, courteous and conscientious. I wish there was a little bit of soft music playing. It always helps me decide what to order. Did you ever think of that? Music dictates your mood and wakes up your tastebuds. They have grown since I was here last. They serve boba teas and other drinks. Donuts are so wonderful. So fluffy and tasty and it is a real chore deciding what to get. Aw heck, just get one of EVERYTHING!

After trying donut king years ago, I've never even considered going to Krispy Kreme, or any other donut shop. Literally like biting into little pieces of heaven. Yeast donuts melt in your mouth and are so moist you'll never end up with a dry one. My dad enjoys his cake donuts and is also a huge fan. They've got bacon and maple donuts which are also a great option for sweet and salty. Also can't go wrong with classic glazed or sprinkles. However, my favorite small snack are their croissant bites, especially when they're fresh and warm! They're so light and just the right amount of crispy. Luckily I don't live close to one of their locations or else I'd be there every day...

If you're a donut lover, then Donut King Hawai'i is an absolute must-visit! The freshness of their donuts is simply unparalleled. Each bite is a revelation! You can truly taste the quality and care that goes into every batch. The donuts are soft and pillowy, almost like biting into a cloud of sweetness. I devoured 2!!! The friendly staff adds to the delightful experience, always ready with a smile and recommendations if you're unsure what to try. I'm disappointed that I didn't get a name of the staff that helped us, she deserves a special shout out. If you're visiting from out of town.... Stop by, I promise you won't regret it.

Excellent customer service and really tasty donuts. Central location in Waikiki across from shops and hotels. It's a really small shop however. So no seating and anymore than 3 people in line ordering is crowded.

I always come here for the cronut bites - they're such a good deal and always hit the spot. The other donuts are pretty standard, nothing too special, but those cronut bites make it worth the trip every time.

My husband and I were near Kaimuki today, and decided to get a sweet treat at Donut King in market city shoppingcenter. We haven't been there in a couple of years, and they were great! Customer service was great! As soon as we walked in, the young girl behind the counter acknowledged us, and asked if we were ready to order. The store was clean. We gave her our order and was in/out very quickly. They did not disappoint! From their classics like the twisted glaze, long John and yeast donut with sprinkles to the fancier stuff like the cronut... sooo delicious! All of their donuts are a generous size and so soft and fresh! With each bite, it just melts in your mouth! Donut King donuts will always be a favorite!

Craving donuts on the go? Stop by Donut King at Market City shopping center! Lots of free parking and tons of donuts to choose from. There's definitely something for everyone, savory bacon maple, to sweet glazed donuts. Try the cro-nuts, croissant-donuts, so yummy! Service is quick, but be patient, it's a small shop, so line up outside if there's someone in the shop. They have drinks too!

Friendly staff and shop is very small but clean. Donuts were fresh and delicious ! We went around 10:30am and there was still a good amount of donuts to choose from.

Stopped by here after having a late lunch. The staff was super inviting gave us some good recommendations the croissant bite had great flavor a nice crunch to it good flake and for the money great by 5 out of five. The unfield bar or what I would call A Long John with chocolate icing it was nice and soft had a good crisp texture to the outside the chocolate was smooth if I'd have stayed longer I'd have out bought another one I give the overall experience of 5 out of five when I'm back I'll be back

I think this may have been the first donut king store to open in Hawaii. This location may have the best variety of donuts (I think) of all their other locations. Service was good ok the day I visited, but the donuts are not cheap. But what is nowadays. Grab and go and have your donut outside ~ no inside tables here!

Hands down best donuts on the island. Idk why I'm so late to the game but their donuts are amazing! Soft, moist, melt-in-your-mouth donuts with just enough glaze to satisfy your sweet tooth. Called ahead to order croissant bites and order was ready to go upon pick up. I picked up my order around noon and they still had a full display of donuts. I couldn't help but snag a couple before leaving. The Oreo chocolate donut was sooo good and the maple bacon is a definite must. The service was friendly and quick. Store is small and clean. It's a grab and go kinda place so you'll have to enjoy your sweets at home. CHECK THEM OUT 4-Dozen croissant bites $30

French cruller, we are not sure yet. We’ll might bring it back on the weekends, Fri-Sunday. I’ll update when I’ll have them back. Thank you

Do they take catering orders? Like for birthday parties?

No catering but we do take pre order for any large order.

What time should I go? I wanna get many kinds of doughnuts. On weekend, are the doughnut sold faster than weekday?

I went on on a Saturday morning, around 7 am and get plenty donuts and pastries behind the glass case.

I don't really have a sweet tooth-I'm a no icing, no frosting kind of girl. I wouldn't dream of eating a cinnamon roll with icing, that's a no for me. But their donuts are delicious all the same and can definitely scratch the itch if you do have a sweet tooth. As someone who's vegan, it can be hard to find a dessert I actually feel good about, and this is one of those places. Everything is taro-based and cooked in coconut oil, which I really appreciate. Just a heads up-all of their donuts are taro donuts. The flavors come from the toppings, so if you see something like a strawberry one, the donut itself isn't strawberry--it's the topping. Their offerings change, ( they do have their core donuts that don't change-and I usually go for one "naked"--no glaze. Sometimes I'll get the honey and sea salt one. Right now they have a seasonal donut called Black Sabbath that's black sesame, brûléed banana. Every time I've been in, I'm greeted right away, and there's plenty of free parking. They get your order out super quick. If you don't want a whole donut--or you're eating in your car and don't want to make a mess--their little donuts called Holeys are the perfect pop-in-your-mouth option. The place has always be well kept and clean - and they have a very spacious, and equally as clean, bathroom. They also have an app where you can check the menu, keep track of your rewards, and manage gift cards, which makes it really convenient. Also, if you're not signed up for their rewards program, do it. You're basically passing up free donuts if you don't. Give them a go, share your experience and if your taste buds celebrated. SYOY! EXTERIOR: next door to Ubae in Kalihi WAIT TIME: right under 10 mins from entering to leaving PARKING: free lot OVERALL COMMENTS: it's been years since my last visit n' I usually come for the poi malasadas so when I saw that they had one banana fritter, I had to have it! I've only had a banana fritter in Cali so this was a nice surprise. Bc it was banana mixed with apple, it had a hint of banana flavor. Crunchy n' glazed exterior with a very soft n' cinnamon interior. The malasadas are always tasty. Out of the poi, strawberry, n' orange, the orange has the most flavor come through. Ofc my kids highly enjoyed their donuts. Prices are really good on all the items we got ranging between $1.55 - $2.12; we spent right under $12 for everything. Will be back again!

So on this morning, when we had some free time, we decided to stop. The shop itself is rather small, with a couple of large display cases filled with donuts and a few small tables tucked into the corner. For my pastry on this morning, I chose the coconut croissant donut. From the time I stood in line until I was out the door was less than 5 minutes. My donut here ended up being quite good as it was light and you could really see the lamination in it. The coconut flakes on top added a nice flavor. The sticky glaze was fantastic as it reminded me of caramel and helped keep the coconut from falling off. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. I enjoyed my donut here and was definitely eyeing the ube coconut cake donut as well.

During our recent trip to Waikiki, we set out on foot with the sun to see what we could see. The quixotic blend of homelessness in front of the Fendi store really drove home the duality of this place. But that's also a different review... As for Donut King, he may well be the actual Monarch of Fried Dough. A delectable selection of fresh donuts, still warm inside on a couple of them, and melt-in-your-mouth soft. My usual chocolate old fashioned was particularly good here... is that a hint of coconut oil? Or did I just have a little Hawaiian Tropic sunscreen on my fingers before I ate? No one knows. And at the end of the day, it doesn't matter. What does matter is that this place is a cool little donut shop that made me feel like a local when I walked in. Service with a smile, regular ol' donut prices instead of weird designer pastry mark-ups, and plenty of Aloha. Worth the trouble of trying to find parking, but even better if you're on foot, and can walk off that little bit of sweetness.

We now see a For lease sign on one of the greatest Donut shops there is! This dedicated, friendly, consistent owner, his wife, and child was a great honor to have met in my lifetime. I and my fellow colleagues frequent this perfectly hidden Gem buying dozens of Donuts for the team these past 6 years. Prior to that I would visit this shop on my own going to and returning from work as a daily regime. This place was very much loved by everyone you passed by in and out of this business. Donuts, Bear claws, Cinnamon rolls and so much more. Such a sad sad loss that this family owned business is no longer with us. However, there are many alternative malasada purveyors throughout Honolulu, so I depended on local vloggers to find the best ones. This one popped up often on YouTube, and as luck would have it, we were dining at The Pig & The Lady on the next block. How calorifically convenient. We took the opportunity to stop by for a pre-dinner snack since they closed at 6PM. It's a cute shop with multiple sweets including quite a selection of housemade ice cream and delectable mouthfuls called Cake Bombs (Photo 10). We decided we would be good and ordered one unfilled Malasada each. Dusted with various sugar flavors, they were just $2.65 a piece. I went for the Coffee, while Jamie chose the daily special, Cinnamon (Photo 6). They were soft and tasty, quite comparable to Leonard's albeit a tad smaller. That wasn't necessarily a bad thing since we had dinner ahead of us. However, we let temptation get the best of us and shared a $5.50 slice of the Ube Haupia Mac Nut Bar, a yummy combination of sweet potato and ube topped with haupia (coconut milk pudding) on a macadamia nut crust (Photo 9). Truth be told, it stole the show from the malasadas.
