    Pabana Crois, Slice Coco Cake
    Sandy L.

We arrived around 9:30 AM, and since they're open daily from 6:30 AM to 11:30 AM, most of the pastries were already gone by the time we got there. Luckily, we managed to grab the last Pabana Croissant (passion fruit, mango, and banana) and a slice of coconut cake, there were only a few slices left! We're so glad we still had the chance to try their pastries and cake. The Pabana filling had a great balance of sweetness and flavor, not overly sweet. The passion fruit really stood out, with a slight hint of mango, though the banana flavor wasn't very noticeable. As for the coconut cake, it had a strong coconut aroma, a soft texture, and a rich, satisfying filling. The cream wasn't too sweet either, which made it even more enjoyable. Overall, we loved everything! If you're planning to try their pastries, definitely go early, items sell out quickly. Store hours are 6:30 AM to 11:30 AM daily. :)

Chocolate haupia brioche garnished with chocolate flakes and gold leaf

One of my former coworkers suggested that we stop by here to enjoy some morning pastries and catch up. It had been years since I visited Halekulani Bakery, so I was excited to check it out again. The gorgeous bread display immediately caught my eye upon entering, but it wasn't long before we were able to move through the line to the pastries. Holy perfect laminated dough, Batman! I cannot even fathom the technique it requires with the butter to get SO many layers of flaky, golden pastry. I opted to get the chocolate haupia brioche, garnished with chocolate flakes and a gold leaf. We were lucky enough to snag one of the tables as a family was leaving, so we got to enjoy our meals immediately. Yum! The brioche wasn't sugary and had a rich chocolate flavor. The textures inside were both creamy and crunchy, so it provided a nice contrast as I bit into different sections. I'm so glad I got to visit again after all this time. They have so many different options to try, so I want to come back before the trip is over, especially as the signature coconut cake and the beni-imo tarts both looked incredible!

Wow, I knew that this bakery was famous and I now know why. The salted caramel croissant was incredible. We also picked out a few other pastries but this one won the contest! The espresso machine was broken so we will be back tomorrow to try their lattes.

Still our fave bakery. Lines have gotten longer- more bag merch but less shirt and mug choices to purchase. Kouignn was wonderful and coco cake will always be my go-to.

The Halekulani Bakery was good when they first opened. It is ahmazing now! Was privileged to visit again while friends staying at the Halekulani's sister property, the Helumoa. The bakery is actually in the Helumoa Hotel ACROSS the street from the Halekulani on Kalia Road... right next to Umi by Vikram Garg. Everything I've had here is spectacular. The fig and nut bread reminding me of my favorite in Korea. The pistachio raspberry croissant, had it two days in a row! Of course the signature salted caramel and chocolate croissant soooo good. The drip coffee or other fancier drink are perfect compliments (I really like their hot coffee on drip here tho expresso is available too). Looking for occasion to return for the elusive fig and prosciutto croissant and the delicious looking avocado toast. And if in the mood for their matcha guava latte. Tho, that drip coffee..! Parking is validated in the building for the first hour with purchase.

Always quick service, fresh pastries, good prices. The food is amazing!!! Ham and cheese croissants are my son's favorite. He always gets two. I always get the quiche. It's so fluffy. Everything is divine!

Such a cute and small bakery. Seemed very Japanese and authentic. I love these types of self serve bakeries. They also had such unique and special flavors, I didn't know what to choose. - pabana croissant: 9.4/10. Sooo good !! It's amazing how I can taste all three flavors in this croissant (passion fruit, banana, mango). Each flavor was subtle but present and delicious. The croissant was super fresh and crispy. - curry pan: 8.8/10. Different from your typical curry pan. It was more of a curry spiced filling loaded with beef.

Out of the three pastries I picked everything tasted pretty good. I don't typically like chocolate croissants but this one was light and buttery with a nice crisp on the outer layer. I also really liked the salted caramel croissant but found it really messy to eat. Great place to grab a coffee and read a book all in all.

Came on a Saturday morning and there was a bit of a line but it moves very fast! The pastries here are super delicious!!! Our favorite was the croissant with mango/passionfruit filling - the cream was the perfect amount of sweet and the croissant itself was so buttery and crispy. The mango cream cheese bread was also super yummy! We liked the pastries more than the drinks here. Got the guava matcha - they use jam rather than syrup so a lot more fresh and natural but it was a bit challenging to taste the guava when thoroughly mixed.

Is this place expensive? Yes. Is it some of the best pastries I've ever had in my life? Also yes. Sometimes it's just worth it. Service is friendly and the line usually moves quick. You can eat there but I prefer to take it to go and eat on the beach nearby or save for breakfast over a day or two.

We loved the pastries so much from the last trip we put Halekulani on our good bucket list for this trip. Sadly, they no longer make the NY Croissants. We liked the Pistachio and the Chocolate ones. I purchased a couple of other items this trip and picked wrong. The pastries I chose were a bit on the dry side. I did order a Caramelia Salted Chocolate Chip that I polished off before I got back to the AirBnb, it was yummy. On this trip, I ordered a Chocolate Haupia Brioche which looked really tasty but even with the filling the bread was dry. I also ordered a Pobana Croissant which had a Passion Fruit, Mango and Banana filling which sounded yummy, it was a bit on the dry side too. They have a variety of other pastries so we will definitely visit again on our next trip and try some of the other pastries. Definitely put Halekulani Bakery on your list of bakeries to try.

It took me three tries during the high season to actually get croissants from here. The line was always so long and I just wasn't getting here early enough before they sold out (around 930, I've been told.) When I finally got my hands on the croissants, just wow. I have to say that these are some of my favorite croissants in Hawaii. I have no idea what they've done to bake croissants that stay crisp even in the Hawaii humidity. Very impressive. Service is friendly and the prices are good with the croissants priced between $5-6.50. I don't think I'd order the plain again but the valrhona chocolate (that crisp crust shatters!), passion fruit banana, and salted caramel with its gorgeous Chinese cookie topping were all fantastic. Parking is validated but Halepuna self parking was full every single time I tried. Get a ride here or walk!

Halekulani Bakery is located across from the Halepuna Hotel (sister hotel to the Halekulani Hotel). Plan your visit: *Hours are 6:30 - 11:30 am daily *No restroom (go to front desk of Halepuna for restroom access to the amazing Toto experience. *Parking validation is provided for the first hour in the Halekulani / Halepuna Waikiki parking lot, which is located on Kalia Road. When you arrive: The scent of heaven is in this bakery. Outdoor patio with open sun umbrellas is a good sign that the bakery is open. You should quickly walk, especially if there's no line as one will develop. Important Step: make sure your hands are available because this is a self-serve bakery. Once inside, use hand sanitizer and then grab your tongs and a tray to your left. It's important to take a deep breath before you begin your experience. Slowly walk past the baked goodies and place items on your tray. If there's a line, it can be difficult to backtrack. There are two levels of options so have your eyes wide open. Once you have reached the end of options, there are flashing menus above the checkout with drinks, made to order items, and packaged snacks. I know, this is a lot of pressure. Hot items are made to order as well as drinks. The staff are friendly and wonderful so don't be shy to ask questions. Menu highlights: *Coconut cake (slice or preorder a whole) *Pabana (passion fruit, banana, mango) croissant *vegan muffin rotation *daily quiche *freshly baked breads Personal favorites: *passion fruit croissant *shirred eggs with sourdough bread (made-to-order) *poi rolls (mini size and cute) *matcha latte *mac nut cinnamon bun (light and fluffy) Whatever you decide to eat, you'll be thrilled by the brilliant flavors and excellent talents. Ingredients are locally sourced which speaks to the fresh quality. Hot Tip: while this bakery is known for their experienced team and impressive head chef, the current head chef will be leaving shortly. I know the new one will be great and I wish the team success during this transition. Bravo to the hard work and love that goes into each tray. I can taste the aloha.

Ask the Community - Halekulani Bakery

The bakery offer any gluten-free options?

Yes, but very limited (maybe just one or two items are gluten free). I didn't pay attention to the desserts which may be GF, but they had at least a GF muffin option.

Does this location still offer breakfast buffet?

At the Halekukani Hotel across the lane they do. Believe it's at House Without a Key on weekends. Not at the bakery I don't think.

What is offered on the breakfast buffet? Mahalo!

Sorry I haven't been to the breakfast buffet. I have reservations for Easter brunch buffet and was told by the staff that their previous holiday buffet was a big hit.

Can I have a light breakfast such as a pastry and coffee besides the buffet?

Yes, I recommend the chocolate brownie bread from the bakery.

How much is the breakfast buffet and what does it consist of?

    $34

This might be one of the only places in Waikiki open at 4 AM which is perfect if you've just arrived the night before from the East Coast. The inside of the shop feels homey. They have a display case full of pastries along with additional baked goods set out nearby. For my coffee on this morning I decided to go with a coconut latte and then ordered a blueberry malasada while my father went with a custard-filled one. At Maleko, the malasadas are pre-made but not filled until you order which I think is a smart move. I first tried my blueberry malasada and thought it was good. The dough was light and fluffy and the filling had a great flavor. As for my coffee, I have to agree with other reviews that the syrup made it overly sweet. I still drank it, but I definitely would have preferred something less sweet. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again for the malasadas. As for the coffee, I would probably pass unless you prefer your drinks on the sweeter side.

Expect long lines here lol We did a huge order for coffee and breakfast menu items. The wait to order may be long, but luckily it didn't take too long for them to prepare the drinks and sandwiches. The drinks were faster but the sandwiches did take some time. I mainly had the Kai Latte, which was the macadamia nut latte. I would say it's pretty sweet, but the macadamia nut flavor wasn't really that prominent. It was just sweet. I wish the coffee was also stronger, but it was pretty light. The sandwiches here were pretty good too. I tried the veggie breakfast sandwich which only had some greens and eggs. I tried a bite of the protein breakfast sandwich and I think I probably like that one better haha. Although, the veggie one was definitely a lot more lighter and easy to consume. The protein one probably would have been a lot more heavier for me, but a lot more flavorful. Otherwise, food and coffee are pretty solid. There are a few tables outside the coffee shop, very limited. Love the atmosphere around here!
